  • With mountains of recommendations, AMD graphics cards present a massive amount of value (especially against Nvidia). Yet they only make up 15% of GPU owners. AMD only has themselves to blame so let's talk about it.

      Its a brainwashed standard, monopoly regime. Who gave the authority to make nVidia as a standard ? If you goto your local Microcenter or any best buy they easily spell out Intel and nVidia and if you challenge them they go all crazy nuts. End of the day they want some crazy fool to buy some crazy stuffs. Only the real Engineer would know the value of AMD powering from World's top Super Computer to gaming consoles. Truth always wins the numbers shown by AMD presentations are correct and they stand to what they shown. Else people would have sued the company for sure..

      I've had the same experience with two AMD cards in the past. Their hardware is incredible but their software is lacking compared to Nvidia in my experience. At least from a driver's standpoint. Ge-Force experience is incredibly lackluster compared to adrenaline but I don't really use either so it doesn't matter. Also Nvidia just has superior encoders for my experience with OBS. I've never had a single issue recording or streaming with an Nvidia card but AMD used to make me want to rip my hair off. My thing is, AMD price to performance is really compelling, even on the top end with the 7900XTX. However I’d just be willing to pay a bit more for similar rasterization preference plus better raytracing performance and more options for software features. Being able to access both DLSS and FSR leaves things wide open. Or I could just do native resolution and DLAA. And I would never use frame generation but that’s there for those who do. I can always change things based on my mood or game, rather than essentially deciding one way when I buy.

There are experimental projects underway right now for the HD 5000 and the HD 6000 to get Vulcan support and it's expected to be done by October. The ATI rage got a performance boost a couple years ago and the the x300 and whatever series that came from in 2004-2005 got substantial performance boost recently as well. And obviously you can do the math for how old and out of date those graphics cards are yet the community continues to support them. You're lucky if you can make any use of an Nvidia GPU older than fermi at this point in the Linux ecosystem.

    Valid points are brought up; I definitely agree.
    AMD really does need to design something new for their next release, so it gives gamers a choice. The issue I foresee with this thinking is that it requires money, and when it comes down to it, they only have about 15% of the market share, so resources are tight. Nvidia has a huge advantage in this area.

      Gamers do have a choice. I bought an RX 6600 because it has better performance to the dollar than Nvidia. Next I'll upgrade to the RX 8600 next-gen because the RTX 5060 will be more expensive like they always are.

    • @Deathisi
      @Deathisi 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Maybe my wording could have been better; "gives gamers more of a choice" might have been more suited. However, I do feel there are way too many variables to decide if a specific card has better performance to currency. In general, I would say that for modern, high-graphics-demanding games, Nvidia still has an edge.
      Keep in mind that I'm someone who wants AMD to succeed, but taking for example, the FSR 3 technology, it's a big step forward for AMD, but only plays catch up to bring them in line with DLSS 3 (but still with slightly less detail). It's great, but Nvidia pulled ahead again right away with DLSS 3.5, using AI upscaling to improve framerates.
      However, I will note that AMD's ray tracing is beginning to catch up with Nvidia's. There are, of course, many more variables, but this reply is getting long, so I'll leave it there.@@MarkLikesCoffee860

    • @MarkLikesCoffee860
      @MarkLikesCoffee860 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Deathisi Yes I agree 100%. Raytracing and DLSS are great features that give Nvidia a big edge. However, Nvidia have only had those two features since the RTX 2080 was released in September 20, 2018. Before that date, Nvidia's market share was 81.2% and raytracing/DLSS didn't exist. The majority of gamers chose the GTX 1060 which didn't have raytracing and didn't have DLSS. The GTX 1060 also only had 6Gb VRAM. The RX 480 was faster and had 8Gb VRAM. This proves it's not the extra features that caused Nvidia's market share to get so big. Gamers had the choice of more VRAM, a higher framerate without losing any features and they still chose Nvidia.

AMD have got to start marketing their products better because the performance and value is already there! They're doing a lot of the tough ground work pretty well, they've got a good product at a good price, but it seems the marketing department just... don't know how to leverage that? Most streamers and TH-camrs use Nvidia cards and apple phones. Most of my friends even use Nvidia cards and of course have apple phones. Like apple Nvidia is able to capitalize on being the default choice for people. The reason I went with Nvidia 2 years ago was because I didn't know anything about AMD cards. I got an rx 6700xt and it's been like the best decision I made for my build, one thing that really bugs me though is how all the reviews go with the narative that AMD cards don't work with professional workloads. I do work with SOLIDWORKS, blender, premiere, and a whole suite of smaller programs and never had an issue.
    Edit: I mostly dabble with these programs to experiment as a maker and only engage in solidwork, solidcam, mastercam and a couple of electronic design softwares for work. My issue stems not from professionals not using them but from gamers being shunned away from them due to a seeming lack of compatibility which most often would not be an issue for someone who merely wants to experiment with creative outlets, which even then would be a minority of users.

      Define issue? For some of us, a blender render taking 30 minutes instead of 10 would be an issue. When your GPU is getting beaten by an older entry level Nvidia card in the benchmarks, that would be an issue (at least for most productivity users). Having vray refuse to open, or After Effects crash, these would also be issues. Getting artifacts when building certain lighting situations in Unreal, or being locked out of certain features, these are issues. The complaints about AMD and productivity are real and legitimate.
      Obviously it will depend on the user, and their workflow but even at the bare minimum, unnecessarily long render times that get beaten by older gen entry level hardware is not exactly something to be ok with.

Looking it up on PugentSystems though, they seem to imply certain visualizer features won't work with some gpus. Are you rendering those models in any particular way? If so is the renderer based on the GPU or CPU.
      Its highly likely your choice of GPU has little to no impact on the basic viewing and editing features found in Solid Works.

    • @APS1350
      @APS1350 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@deuswulf6193 it's really dependant upon your settings but for the stuff I typically do I've noticed it tends to be more gpu bound, SOLIDWORKS is unfortunately still single threaded and my dad's old 6th gen laptop i7 works fine for even up to date SOLIDWORKS, my biggest issue is how much vram there is cause model files get quite large for me. The most gpu intensive task I believe would be assemblies where the gpu handles the rendering of, in some instances thousands of complex geometries and their interactions, should you use solidworks motion.
      I'm not trying to say that AMD is equal or better than Nvidia in terms of professional workloads support, and I do believe that Nvidia's GPUs, especially their professional GPUs are far more reliable. I just don't like how AMD's lacking professional drivers are pushed as a reason for the average person or gamer not to buy them because even if you do like to dabble in modeling or cad or rendering or video editing, a Radeon gpu will most likely be sufficient.

And the UI is really friendly considering a minimum knowledge on GPU optimization.
    The stigma towards AMD comes much from the driver issues they had back there and the fact that Nvidia really has a strong marketing. Even knowing that most os AMD GPUs are pair to pair with Nvidia, just the "GeForce RTX" brand is enough to convince the avenger consumer.

Even the most graphically intense game I have, Icarus, looks amazing and runs smoothly. Sure if I went and bought a 4090, it would improve with ray tracing and more FPS, yet I do not have $1,600 to blow on one component. They just keep bring up the anxiety of not get the latest newest coolest stuff, will the game break if you dial down a few settings? Or will your super vision pick up the difference of few frames. I don’t know man.
      The truth actually is that game developers will most likely consider the widest range of gpu possible, you can see in the steam survey the most own cards are still the 1650 1060 and 2060 from years ago. If the game is poorly optimised, you’ll feel shit in a 4090 either way, just upgrade your card when you feel it doesn’t deliver anymore, not because you wanna get robbed today.

    I just recently built my first PC and went with an AMD card because of the value. I found the 6800 on sale for around 350 brand new and have been pretty happy with that decision. From what I've seen, it's pretty hard to find anything with better performance at that price point, even used, while also having more VRAM than anything Nvidia offers in that price range, double in most cases. From what I've looked up about RT, it seems like i shouldn't be worried about it because unless i have a 4090, it just isn't as impressive as it is marketed currently. My entire system cost half of what you can get a 4090 by itself for right now, and I play everything on high to ultra quality with no problems.

Like if I didn't have the stats on my screen I don't know if I could tell the difference between it and the 4090 (at 1440p), because the only difference in the maxed out settings is that RT is disabled for my 6800. I don't really give a shit about RT though. Maybe when I graduate to 4k it'll be different. Point is that on ebay people want to get what they paid for it, so they initially price over like $1200, then you just wait it out until it inevitably drops below $550 and you get a monster gpu for what feels like a fair price. The LC editions of their 6000 series are tremendous options if you can fit them in your case, and quiet as hell.

    I have used AMD, and before that ATI, going all the way back to the days of the Rage Pro and Rage II. There was a period in the early 2010s when I used Nvidia, but ATI/AMD ended up having the "best available cards" for my older PCs (for example the HD4600-last/best card for AGP 8x). I was also strongly inclined towards Radeon for my new build in 2021 and I ended up getting a 6600XT in 2022 at an inflated price owing to the time, but it has done well for me since.

    Last year (Nov) I bought an AMD RX6800 to drive my 1440p UW (3440 x1440) monitor and have had zero performance issues with any games and zero driver issues. Power and fan management have been excellent also. Very satisfied.

    I had the 5700xt as my first built pc. It was great back then and i hardly had issues with the firmware. Then I jumped to the 3080 for the upgrade, where, ironically had driver issues when playing forza horizon 5. But I bought Nvidia because of the nvenc for game recording and photography and videography production and also potential cad software support.

    I would take AMD but if I'm not mistaken they do not have any SFF cards (175mm) in their lineup and that what I need for my build so I'm stuck a bit .
