  • In this video I show you how to point up a porcelain slab for a patio using sika fast fix all weather compound.
    So.. all I did was wet all the paving slabs up before starting the job , only open 1 bag at a time, then empty a small about , and immediately brush in , the sika compound needs to be compacted down into the joints with a jointing trowel to make sure you get a solid fill , I always make sure I get a solid fill on all the joints.

    Hi can I askvwhy you wet slabs first, isnt it more difficult to brush compound when wet rather than dry

    How long does it actually take to go off in the bag once air gets to it ? Or does it only start curing once water activates it ?
    Nice video by the way.

      Good question Jordan 👍
      I would say if you have any compound left and want to keep for another job put it in a bucket of water and it should last 1 month and can be reused but if left in an opened bag the compound will start to harden not sure of the time scale but it's just a matter of time before it hardens and carnt be used, thanks for watching and your comment appreciate it

    Is it easy to clean off the tiles? I can imagine if they are wet and have compound swept over them you might dry if hard

      The porcelain slabs are none porous mate and won't absorb any of the easy fill compound which makes for easy cleaning plus my experience with the compound I've never had any slabs stain up.

      Thanks mate appreciate that 👌👌👍 the trowel is a marshalltown tuck pointer I've had it a good while now and I'm sure I got it on Amazon, if you go to Amazon and put in the search bar marshalltown tuck pointer it should come up , yeah its ideal for pointing, thanks for stopping by the vid hope this helps 👍👍👈.

      @@creativecrambo Maybe you're doing this now but set yourself up with an amazon affilliate account and put the tools and products used in the description to your video. That way it's easy for viewers to find the tools you're using and you'll make a little kickback on each sale at no extra cost to us so it's win-win. Thanks for the video bud.

      Great video buddy, have a porcelain job to point and inexperienced with the grout method. Would you be happy to use sika again next job?

  • @chrisboardman1013
    @chrisboardman1013 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Looks much easier than using grout and a good video as well, however I asked Sika about this and they said it was not suitable for Porcelain Tiles. The product also says 5mm joints. Have you found any problems with using the Sika jointing compound?

    • @creativecrambo
      @creativecrambo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching chris 👍yeah its alot easier then grouting mate and alot cleaner aswell, yeah 5mm would be the minimum joint size , and all my experience using the compound has been good when applied properly with compressed filling to obtain full joints and a depth of 20/25mm it goes rock hard in about a week plus don't crack or shrink, it's all about personal preference mate thanks for your feedback nice one

    This fails when you jetwash the patio after winter comes right up.

    • @creativecrambo

      Yeah the old jet washer can take anything out the pointing on that patio has had 2 winters mate and the owner has probably jetwashed it aswell I've had no phone calls as of yet mate I've heard some good and bad things about that sort of pointing, every one I've done has held up thanks for stopping by the vid mate 👍 👊

      The best thing to do is test an area first before you use any compound resins the one I used didn't but I did do a test before 👍

    Read the instructions!This is not for use with porcelain and the minimum widths for the joints have not been adhered to.

    • @creativecrambo
      @creativecrambo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Caroline, sounds like you haven't used the jointing compound before , it works just perfect with a minimum 5mm joint and 25mm depth also the way i compressed the jointing compound in so all the joints are full , you can use the jointing compound on various surfaces, done properly like I show in my video theres no way the jointing compound won't work, it takes about 12 hours to set and probably about a week to fully cure , and the results are great , if your unsure about it do a sample area, but it definitely works when you do it right , thanks for watching 👍👍.

      @@creativecrambo nice paving job but this is not for use with porcelain as the product is porous - even though it will set and look fine for a while - a big no no- marshalls symphony is the only non porous brush in jointing product for porcelain although there may already be others, can see why you want an alternative to grout which is a chore.
