Parasite Eve, Ridge Racer and Xenogears are probably the only 3 from that list that I would have added. The rest aren’t top 20 in my eyes, as good as some of them were at the time.
Ape Escape, Tomb Raider, RE2, Final Fantasy 7, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, Mega Man X4, and especially Metal Gear Solid are at the top of my personal list.
Agreed 👍 btw did you see my comment about Long Island killer? I comment R.I.P to all the victims and it turned into an argument. They clearly have no respect for the dead.
@@Slayde.Wilson Yeah I saw that. They really need to grow up. Oh and my comment on telling everyone to grow up wasn't directed at you. It was more directed at the people who were/ still arguing.
There are a LOT of awesome RPGs on PS1: FFVII - IX, Chrono Cross, port of Chrono Trigger, port of FFIV - VI, FF Tactics, Vagrant Story, Suikoden 1 and 2, Valkyrie Profile, Legend Of Mana, Lunar 1 and 2, Parasite Eve 1 and 2. And I still haven't beaten Xenogears, Brave Fencer Musashi, Legend of Dragoon, Legend Of Legaia, Vandal Hearts, Alundra...
Some of the best games ever made, played and beat them all back in the day. Legaia was a hidden gem and loved the arts system. I wish all these games had an ease of access for new systems. I was so glad to see LoD finally hit the PS store. I really want Lunar to get on newer consoles, i know its on android, i want Lunar 2 as well Jean godmode is awesome.
There was also the Tales of series on the psone with Destiny 1 and 2, plus Eternia. They are made by namco which did tekken and soul calibur, and they play like soul calibur with its control scheme of using the direction pads of modify buttons to get different results in its real time 2d side scroller rpg system.
LoD and LoL are really good and this is me playing them in parallel with games like Nier automata. If you haven't beaten Xenogears, my tip is to just google the ending. Disk 2 felt like a slap to the face after such a good game.
Something you guys should know was that the first Gran Turismo was extremely difficult to make. Lead designer Kazanori Yamauchi explained the grueling work conditions he faced, stating, "It took 5 years. In those 5 years, we couldn't see the end. I would wake up at work, go to sleep at work. It was getting cold, so I knew it must be winter. I estimate I was home only 4 days a year"
@luciolynx5443 imagine my pain, when i had only 2 disks, and was stuck on 2nd chapter, till i found an opportunuty to get the other 2 and continue my journey
7:29 I still never forget the day I was introduced to the PlayStation. I remembered playing this at my late Uncle Doug’s house in New York when I was 4 years old. It was the first time I’ve been introduced to video games. The game I played was Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped. I never finished it. Now that I’m 27 years older, all I can say it is truly a groundbreaking piece of gaming. Thank you Uncle Doug for making me a gamer. My gaming life was never the same without you. May you rest in peace.😢
I enjoyed it and its sequel more than Spider-Man 2 on PS2 for some reason. I remember being blown away by the Mysterio boss because it was the first time I've ever faced a giant boss (in a 3D game, at least)
I don't remember if I finished the game, but I still bought Driver 2 and even 3. I remember when I first played GTA San Andreas, I called it "Driver clone"
I love the original Spyro trilogy too! Insomniac Games created one of my all-time favorite childhood video game series, and then went on to create 2 other favorite video game franchises of mine, Ratchet & Clank and Marvel's Spider-Man.
@@mick2287 I meant top 10, mainly a personal preference, but to be fair, it’s mainly a bias, I’m sure those other games are just as good, I just had fond memories of Pac-Man world, even if some of the mechanics haven’t aged the best
Thank you for the update, WatchMojo..!! My favorite Playstation game of all time was "NBA ShootOut '97". This game was awesome when I played it back in 1997.
The PS1 had a side scrolling shooter hidden gem developed by Square back in the day. “EINHÄNDER” is criminally underrated. Not to mention its soundtrack was years ahead of its time.
Glad to see Ape Escape on the list. I owned a game store during this era and recommended it to everyone. Definitely think Syphon Filter 2 belongs on this list though.

Tomb Raider 1 and 2 might be my faves. They’re almost an evolutionary dead end in terms of genre, basically a 3d spiritual successor to Prince of Persia where every little bit of platforming needs to be meticulously planned out. It actually made 3d platforming feel harrowing and treacherous in a way your modern 3d platformers just don’t.
My best PS1 games 1. Crash bandicoot 3 2. SmackDown 2 3. Tekken 3 4. Dead or alive 5. Resident evil 2 6. Pepsi man 7. Twisted metal 8. James bond 007 9. Die hard trilogy 10. Road Rash 3D 11. Apocalypse 12. The Mummy 13. Metal slug X 14. Spiderman 1 & 2 15. Xena
SPYRO was UNDERRATED!!! I was the only one of all my friends to actually love it. The first GTA was dope too… had the Birds Eye view. So easy to run over people. U can see everything. I miss it.
Good list, missing some really good titles, franchises, Dino Crisis, Parasite Eve, Syphon Filter, Rayman, Medal of Honor and more but a good list focused mainly on the big bangers.
Tekken 3 is just simply Goated. My other favs are games such as Crash 3: Warped, Final Fantasy 7, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, Smackdown 2 and game series like Twisted Metal, Gex, Bloody Roar, NFL Gameday etc. IDK there's just so many I just enjoy and I wish gaming would be as good again as the glory days in the 90's & early 2000's.
I would always say MGS1 was the best game I had ever played in my life until MGS4 came out and I was like, wow. I had tears in my eyes watching the ending. No other game before or after that has ever had that effect on me. Truly a work of art. Thank you Hideo
I started collecting PS1 and PS2 games recently and there's almost a bottomless pit of good games for both systems. Wayyy more than most other systems.
TOMB RAIDER WAS MY SH*T!!! I was freaking addicted to that game. It was a demo that came with the PlayStation. It took me forever to beat the game but it was so awesome. The final cave was nuts. It went from rock climbing, shooing away bats and snakes the whole game… to a whole ass T-Rex lmao literally. Came out of nowhere. 😭 you win the game when you kill the dinosaur lol good times.
6:01 - Spyro the Dragon was actually the first ever game I played on the original PlayStation. That's how I got into the whole spectrum of retro gaming for someone my age.
My Most Favorite Epic PS1 Games I Absolutely Love Playing from my Childhood Years are: 1. Final Fantasy I 2. Final Fantasy II 3. Final Fantasy III 4. Final Fantasy IV 5. Final Fantasy V 6. Final Fantasy VI 7. Final Fantasy VII 8. Final Fantasy VIII 9. Final Fantasy IX 10. Final Fantasy Origins 11. Final Fantasy Collection 12. Ape Escape 13. Chocobo Racing 14. Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon 15. PaRappa the Rapper 16. Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 17. Spyro the Dragon 18. Chrono Cross 19. Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped 20. Vagrant Story 21. Tomb Raider 22. The Misadventures of Tron Bonne 31. Mega Man: Battle & Chase 32. Capcom's Pocket Fighter 33. Mega Man X4 34. Mega Man X5 35. DarkStalkers 3 36. Capcom's Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo 37. Rival Schools: United by Fate 38. Mega Man 1 39. Mega Man 8 40. Strider 2 (WITH the Best Epic Evil Capcom Villain in that Game, who happens to be the Evil Archenemy and Equally Match Worthy Adversary of Strider Hiryu: Strider Hien. I definitely choose Strider Hien over Grandmaster Meio any day) 41. Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter 42. Capcom vs SNK Pro 43. Resident Evil 2 44. Resident Evil 3 45. Breath of Fire III 46. Breath of Fire IV 47. Marvel vs Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes 48. Street Fighter Alpha 3 49. Mega Man X3 50. Mega Man X6 51. Capcom's Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix 52. Mega Man 3 53. Mega Man 4 54. Mega Man 5 55. Mega Man 6 56. DarkStalkers: The Night Warriors 57. Mega Man 2 58. Spider-Man (2000) These are ALL the Best Epic PS1 Games I Absolutely had a Blast playing with my siblings and friends.
I have always loved Spyro since I was a child and still do to to this day. Even though Blasto was made for teens, I remember playing it when I was very young. At times it was frustrating since you can easily die, but I still found Blasto's humor funny, even when he fell off the platform screaming "MOMMY!" and when I heard "Well Hellooo NURSE!" for the first time. I also remember lines that I never understood until I became an adult. Despite the fact that I never completed it, I thought it was a decent space shooting game with a good sense of humor rescuing sexy babes and shooting aliens heads off.
Banging collection, I’d probably add Coolboarders 2, GTA, Hogs of War, Worms Armageddon, Sentient, Treasures of the deep, Theme Park, Theme Hospital, Duke Nukem 3D, WWF Smackdown 2 to this collection.
Alundra, Armoured Core, Tenchu Stealth Assassins, Soul Blade, Bushido Blade, Wipeout 2097, Harvest Moon Back to Nature, Rugrats Search for Reptar, Medal of Honor & Theme Park World
Maaaaaan, Spyro brings back so many memories of my cousins coming over on the weekends and us haming together at sleepovers. Spyro and Yugioh: Forbidden Memories was the vibe back in those days
My favorites are (not ordered) Final Fantasy VII Castlevania SOTN Metal Gear Solid Resident Evil 1-3 (3 is my fav) Final Fantasy Tactics Suikoden 1 and 2 Dragon Quest VII Persona 1 and 2 Star Ocean 2 Silent Hill Parappa
YugiOh Forbidden Memories: Own ruleset with focus on fusion, a fantastic soundtrack and some off the hardest challenges you'll find. The story is nothing special but it's well presented and you can really see how much love and effort went into this game (f.e. everyone off the 700 cards in the game has a 3D model with it's own sounds, and two different attack animation just to offer you a completely obsolete feature that you can activate at will or completely ignore). Tomb Raider (played 1, 4 and 5 as a child but revisted the others recently): It really makes you feel like an explorer. there are unforgiving challenges behind every corner but it feels really great to beat. I love the stories, the objectives and lara croft is defenitly one off my favorite video game protaganists.
Very solid list! It’s pretty easy to make one with the PS1’s fantastic library. A good amount of these are still among the best games ever, let alone best for the console.
1)Medal of Honor(Best A.I of its time) 2)Fifa 97(best Sports game of its generation) 3)Resident Evil 3(solid gameplay,Best graphics for ps1) 4)Tomb Raider(incredible mechanics for a ps1 game) 5)Resident Evil 2(good game not as good as third one) 6)Tomb Raider 2(not great but still a good sequel) 7)Tomb Raider 3 8)Tomb Raider Chronicles 9)Resident Evil(first survival game) 10)Mortal Kombat
The best game ever that came out on PS1 was the first Resident Evil game with the live action cutscenes. Resident Evil 2 second best. Then, the Toombraider 1 and 2.
Would it kill Capcom to make s Resident Evil Classic collection for current consoles, containing the original versions of Resident Evil 1,2,3 and Code Veronica all on the same card and disk?

SPYRO was UNDERRATED!!! I was the only one of all my friends to actually love it. The first GTA was dope too… had the Birds Eye view. So easy to run over people. U can see everything. I miss it.
Good list, missing some really good titles, franchises, Dino Crisis, Parasite Eve, Syphon Filter, Rayman, Medal of Honor and more but a good list focused mainly on the big bangers.
what? Where's Xenogears??? WHAT???
Or Final Fantasy Tactics.

IDK there's just so many I just enjoy and I wish gaming would be as good again as the glory days in the 90's & early 2000's.
idk man PS4 era was pretty great but PS5 era sucks ass
Ape Escape was one of my all time Favorite PS1 Games. 🎮🙆🏿♂️
I would always say MGS1 was the best game I had ever played in my life until MGS4 came out and I was like, wow. I had tears in my eyes watching the ending. No other game before or after that has ever had that effect on me. Truly a work of art. Thank you Hideo
I had so much fun getting chased by the cops in Spider-Man. "Mary Jane was right, I should've stayed home, today!" 😄
Thank you for listing LOK: Soul Reaver. That series doesn't get a lot of attention and I don't know why. The story, lore and setting are fantastic.
I was a big fan of Micro Machines V3 not a well known game but I loved playing it
Never be overstated*
Great video, great list, i loved it
Omg thank you I just got back into ps1 after finally getting a ps2 from my uncle last year can’t wait to start collecting ps1 games 😃
I started collecting PS1 and PS2 games recently and there's almost a bottomless pit of good games for both systems. Wayyy more than most other systems.
@@Atrus999 heck ya I love it it’s my favorite
As a ps1 fan this list doesn’t do the console justice, but it’s what you expect from a top 20 ps1 list for the most part
In my 40s and STILL have dreams about the T-Rex level where she's stuck in that valley with the cave at the end. You know the part.
6:01 - Spyro the Dragon was actually the first ever game I played on the original PlayStation. That's how I got into the whole spectrum of retro gaming for someone my age.

Happy you included driver!!
Nascar Rumble, Metal Slug X, CTR, Shaolin Soccer, Road Rage, that was SICK
I have always loved Spyro since I was a child and still do to to this day. Even though Blasto was made for teens, I remember playing it when I was very young. At times it was frustrating since you can easily die, but I still found Blasto's humor funny, even when he fell off the platform screaming "MOMMY!" and when I heard "Well Hellooo NURSE!" for the first time. I also remember lines that I never understood until I became an adult. Despite the fact that I never completed it, I thought it was a decent space shooting game with a good sense of humor rescuing sexy babes and shooting aliens heads off.
Love Oddworld and glad to see it on here. I would've chosen Exoddus though. Improves on Oddysee in every way.
Spiderman was my favorite game on the ps1 as a child
a very solid list :)
Metal Gear Solid Number 1 and Final Fantasy 7 Number 2 - yes, i can totally agree on that
Banging collection, I’d probably add Coolboarders 2, GTA, Hogs of War, Worms Armageddon, Sentient, Treasures of the deep, Theme Park, Theme Hospital, Duke Nukem 3D, WWF Smackdown 2 to this collection.
Alundra, Armoured Core, Tenchu Stealth Assassins, Soul Blade, Bushido Blade, Wipeout 2097, Harvest Moon Back to Nature, Rugrats Search for Reptar, Medal of Honor & Theme Park World
I used to enjoy Vigilante 8, I’ve never played Twisted Metal 2 personally.
Jet Moto, Star Wars Dark Forces, G Police, Lunar....
@@BrassBrutalWow, some one who played Vigilante 8 too. My older brother and I obsessed over that game, that and Tekken.
I'll just sit this one out and watch the comments. 🍿🔥
Maaaaaan, Spyro brings back so many memories of my cousins coming over on the weekends and us haming together at sleepovers. Spyro and Yugioh: Forbidden Memories was the vibe back in those days
My favorites are (not ordered)

Castlevania SOTN
Metal Gear Solid
Resident Evil 1-3 (3 is my fav)
Final Fantasy Tactics
Suikoden 1 and 2
Dragon Quest VII

Parappa
I playing PS1 games on my Chromecast feeling Old school over again 🎒🏫🎒
90s kid gamers so happy for that 🤔💭 🕰️⬅️🎮🔼⏹️❎⭕️🙂😀😃
Just playing through Castlevania: Symphony of The Night and man its impressive for 1997. Sooooooo much content
Yeah nice 2d trash from snes era
Personally I think Super Castlevania 4 is the better game. But I enjoy this one too
Tomb Raider, Spiderman 2000 and Ape Escape are masterpieces.
🎮 Love the nostalgic journey, brings back so many memories! 🕹️
Indeed.
Nobody ever mentions "MediEvil". It's the most fun I've ever had playing a video game.
Very solid list! It’s pretty easy to make one with the PS1’s fantastic library. A good amount of these are still among the best games ever, let alone best for the console.
1)Medal of Honor(Best A.I of its time)
2)Fifa 97(best Sports game of its generation)
3)Resident Evil 3(solid gameplay,Best graphics for ps1)
4)Tomb Raider(incredible mechanics for a ps1 game)
5)Resident Evil 2(good game not as good as third one)
6)Tomb Raider 2(not great but still a good sequel)
7)Tomb Raider 3
8)Tomb Raider Chronicles
9)Resident Evil(first survival game)
10)Mortal Kombat
Great list! I remember Activision dominating that decade. Tenchu Stealth Assassins, Nightmare Creatures & Vigilante 8 all being so much fun!
I'm so glad you guys put MGS1 as the #1 spot. It's my favourite game of all time. And I'm tired of people putting FF7 first.
Loved MediEvil from this era more than most.
Sir Dan agrees
Crash tag team racing
Pepsiman
Spider man
Smack down 2🎉🎉
I adore this games
Brave Fender Musashi 💪🏆
Rally Cross
Soul Reaver needs to be Remastered, that game was incredible 💯💯
Thats true it is masterpiece
The best game ever that came out on PS1 was the first Resident Evil game with the live action cutscenes. Resident Evil 2 second best. Then, the Toombraider 1 and 2.
Would it kill Capcom to make s Resident Evil Classic collection for current consoles, containing the original versions of Resident Evil 1,2,3 and Code Veronica all on the same card and disk?
That’s not a bad idea. Pure survivor game and Capcoms successful franchise ever.
@mattiasolsson1523 I also think the Resident Evil Outbreak game atleast deserve to be HD Remastered and rereleased on current consoles.
PS1 will forever be my favorite video game console.
Didn't see NFL blitz. Smh underrated
Tomb Raider
THPS 1 & 2
Spyro the dragon
Spider-Man
Twisted Metal 2
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six
Literally all 10/10 gems for it’s time 💎🔥
Digimon World 2 was One of the Best, but also the Hardest to find.
