I love it. At 10:00 or so, he doesn't just give the move and explain why it's good--he also explains how you would arrive upon seeing this move in the first place. That is what's missing for me from other chess instruction. Thanks, Nelson!
I have a Simon and Shuster copy of this book from the 60's. It's been tough wading through the old positional notations. These videos are very helpful. Thanks!
That bit about checking which squares you can use to check and then eliminating them is the best piece of advice I've received in a long time. It makes sense but I don't think I've ever thought of in that way before. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! I learned: - think of shifting the focus from the light squares to the dark ones (or vice versa) - practice mates in 1 to integrate them quickly to your thinking process - list the checks and eliminate them one by one - when seeing a checkmate, look what's preventing you from achieving it; if a defender has to be taken, look if you can take it ; if another defender is likely to replace it, attack that defender first.
@@xanthius100doesn't look like AI to me. The cooks hat says pillsbury(the opening in the vid). Generative AI generally arent good at text. Also the texture is a bit too blurry to be AI I think.
Moving pawns may not create permanent weakness but can destroy the opponent. The current Nepo VS Arish game demonstrated the powerful pawns moves. Besides, for the defending side, moving pawn in front of castled king can prevent back rank mate.
Great video. I get very similar positions in the jobava london i play...knight on d5 and queen on h3. The only difference is i havent played f4...ill remember this idea. Hey would you ever consider a future series where you take a student and coach him to climb the rating ladder? Ive seen it done in other skill based games and it seems to be a big hit on youtube. Im a low key streamer(like...handful of viewers lol) and i think someone like me who can share videos from my perspective, could really lend itself to that kind of thing. You share training/lessons/analysis sessions together and then his/her games, and that sort of thing. Just thought id throw it out there. I desperately want to get better at this game :)
I love this channel, I love you, Of the day the pieces decide how strong they are and even though they will decide that they are fine they will not see perfect moves and so if u use the engine you can prove my player wrong
why did rook f8 never move all the times ?? i am 700 elo btw but usually once castle, rook f8 move to e8 or d8 is quite common and it will allow king to escape checkmate threat on h7
hey i was curious why you stoped uploading new tiktoks. im a big fan of you. although i already followed you on every single social media, i spend most of the time on tiktok
I personally think gambits are worthless rubbish for beginners and intermediate level chess players. Advanced players can do anything they want. However, beginners and intermediate players need to study chess opening thery sticking closely to completing their development to avoid blunders while protecting their king. Once you have methodically developed all your pieces according to the established theory of the opening you are playing, you can worry more about strategy, tactics, slowly improving your position to develop an attack. The purpose of playing chess is to develop your thinking skills, analytical skills, recognizing patterns in a systematic manner. Most people who play chess are just regular average mortal humans like me. Most of us will never become clever like Bobby Fischer because we lack the ability to become Bobby Fischer. However, all of us can force ourselves to become better thinkers and learners. Anytime someone writes or says the word "gambit" I am dubious of anything said afterwards. Gambits themselves are a distraction from harder work of learning essential opening theory, developing your pieces, protecting your king/side of the board and controlling the center to improve your position for developing some sort of attack on your opponent's side of the board.
The opposie is true in my opinion. Especially weak or average players should play more gambits instead of trying to learn every opening possible. That will consume much more time and give you slower progres. Playing a gambit doesnt mean you should sacrifice pieces for no reason, but you could learn gambit ideas and sometimes find interesting moves that lose a pawn but give you time, room, am attack or just initiative. Often you will get the material back but in a better position. Get a feeling for position and tactics.
If you cant already see the mate in 7 then nothing else you talked about makes any sense because you are allowing him to promote his pawn and win the game otherwise...

Loving the Logical Chess series so far , Nelson!
@14:56 Levy: "you sacrifice the ROOOOOOOOOKK!" ‼️‼️
2 pieces for a rook isn't a sacrifice
You are a phenomenal teacher! I love these videos.

The way you explained the thought process at 10:00 really is something extremly helpful I don't see any other chess youtuber do😮
Excellent video, thank you .

I love his cake mixes too !! Pillsbury dough boy !!
Really excellent coaching with a comprehensive delivery style. Many thanks!
Keep these tutorials coming, as your time allows for you to present them Nelson. I am really learning new concepts, believe it or not. 👍
Another instructive video , thank you . Yes , certainly similarities with the Stonewall , all good !
I just need to focus more on changing plans. Im too naive to stick to the one and sacrifice everything
I am enjoying this series: you are an excellent teacher!
Really appreciate your videos. Learned a lot with this one
That thumbnail is genuinely frightening
Looks like AI? But why?

Nelson love your videos btw they are a lot helpful I gained 644 elo because of your tips and traps and tactics

“Nothin’ says lovin’ like Ne5! Hee hee!”
Can u try chat gpt vs stockfish pls?
I was hoping Nelson might answer my questions from the previous episode.
This also looks similar to jobava london
This video make me want see more and more chess videos
Which playlist that i can learn from first episode?
12:01 instead of b4 maybe Re8 preparing Nf8
Everyone’s telling him let him cook until bro accepts the queens gambit 💀
I always see what 2 knight trap but I never fell for it because I had a better plan of development
And I didn't notice free pawns but thanks
16:25 why not move the pawn on c3 to b2 and when the rook moves to threaten it, you simply devend with b4->b3?
why did rook f8 never move all the times ?? i am 700 elo btw but usually once castle, rook f8 move to e8 or d8 is quite common and it will allow king to escape checkmate threat on h7
At 16:22, if black had, instead of playing a5, captured b2; what would white do?
Grok let's you violate copyright now, but that doesn't mean companies won't defend their IP, be careful Nelson.
nice
Nelson has a second channel! I forgot the name! Can anyone tell me the name of this other channel? TIA
