Hey Levy, there are two main reasons why I watch you. First is the way you tie your sense of humor into the recaps to make them both informative and memorable. When I was a math tutor I did the same, and my students would often proudly show good exam grades to me and say that they were able to remember what to do because of something funny I said during our lesson. It's just something I appreciate about you and I find it relatable. Second is that I get to witness the emotional journey that must occur with every competitive chess player, but rarely anyone sees. Maybe it's just the para-social phenomenon at play here, but that process you described in this video about just choosing to follow your instincts and not second-guess yourself (while at the same time not being completely careless) really spoke to me. I often struggle with Imposter Syndrome when it comes to multiple aspects of life, so watching you over the years try, try, and keep trying to overcome your psychological challenges is inspiring. Whenever I'm worried about making a bad decision, I always think about how it must be infinitely more difficult for someone in your position, whose every decision, comment, joke, chess move, wardrobe choice, product, book, opening course, and even WIFE (only by the worst of them) will draw infinite scrutiny to the point of oblivion from those who are too cowardly to address their own insecurities and instead weaponize them toward successful people like yourself. I don't know if you'll see this but it made me feel better writing it, and I suspect you've come to understand most or all of this already anyway. Good to see some confidence coming back. I am pushing 40 and dont have much time to devote to chess although I do really enjoy the game. I recently took a break from chess for a few months at around 1000 ELO and did some studying of the game (Chessly 2.0 is great btw). Since I started playing rapid again recently, I have regularly played with a rating of 1800+, and won 10 rapid games in a row, even though my ELO is now only at 1150ish (again, I don't play often). I thought maybe things were starting to click and was happy with my performance, so I played some blitz and got completely destroyed because I am always winning and then make horrific blunders. I even played one blitz game with 400 rating. It is frustrating to feel great about yourself one moment and then be brought back down to earth in such a way, knowing that you are better than how you are playing, but you just have to put it behind you, learn from it, and continue working to improve.
As much as I want to see Levy reach grandmaster the statement "I can't wait for this tournament to be over so I can get back to work on Chessly" is why he's not going to become a grandmaster. In order to become something as difficult as a grandmaster you have to dedicate all of your time to that goal and it has to be the thing you're most passionate about. Levy's clearly more passionate about other things in the chess world, which is obviously fine.

Nice game, Levy. Also very instructive about considering regrouping if the line of attack isn't quite right to overcome the opponent's defense. Sometimes, it's not about bringing another attacker to the party but rerouting pieces to create a better mating net.

You are doing very well playing this new style, this is the regression before the progression. I think it's a good sign that you recognized the tricky position, even if you did not solve it this time
You are not getting results bur you are getting much better some of the positions that you have gotten in this games are amazing i dont know why you are not converting but i just wanted too say at least you are getting better positions in opening and middle hame pretty much every game even with black
Good game Levy! Whatever the result, it's always great to follow your tournaments. Wishing the best with your Chessly app as well.

This guy is one of chess players of all time.
levy i honestly love watching you play and ive seen hinting of genuis i honestly believe if you put in the work you will be GM yours truly subcriber
Exactly. And why would anyone pay $90 a year to learn chess from someone who will never be GM?
@@NineteenEighty8there are nba skills trainers who make millions from the best players in the world improving their shooting, decision making, etc; and the trainers themselves have never even played high level collegiate ball, let alone professionally.
The ability to teach and coach is a talent completely separate from the skill you are teaching.
Levy is gud at this... He doesn't make it too serious and keeps a humorous atmosphere

Nice game, Levy. Also very instructive about considering regrouping if the line of attack isn't quite right to overcome the opponent's defense. Sometimes, it's not about bringing another attacker to the party but rerouting pieces to create a better mating net.
Road to GM ❌️
Road to FM ❌️
Road to IM Elo ✅️
That is or should be a legit goal here, but wouldn't get clicks
5:32 philosophical Levy
Its like im listening to a motivational speech while trying to sleep.
3:00 you know what else is massive ?
Your mom.
not your elo 😂
Amazing game! The fast move strategy is paying off, levy’s chess instinct is better than his chess over thinking. Probably hard to overcome but hopefully he can keep it up. Much love

This was your best game yet Levy, keep going you will get there!

Well done mate, your ability for self reflection is an inspiration
the difference between hikaru and his recap is crazy different,
just that the way hikaru speaks how "he obviously shouldve went takes takes and just win the game"
makes it seem really obvious really speaks a lot about the difference in levels in chess uk
Hikaru is one of the top players in the world and rated some 500 points higher than Levy. Basically Hikaru is in the top 3-4 players in the world and Levy is barely in the top 5000 in the world. Imagine say the top tennis player in the world and then someone rated 5000 🤷♂
hikaru is in the elite, however he also has the benefit of the computer analysis when he recaps. it isnt all just off the top of his head.
Grandmaster or not Levy you're the reason many of us got back into Chess. 👍Wish your luck

Thanks
Chessly - Been using it to prepare for each round of my local club's OTB championship. Round 1 played e6b6 (win), Round 2 played Vienna (win), Round 3 was trying to play Vienna, opponent went into Sicilian, ended up going into Smith-Morra which I had not prepared (draw), and I'm preparing e6b6 for the final round against an opponent that likes the London. There is a three-way tie for first going into the round.

I really hope you get to be a GM, this would be something that give me hope in life.

“It’s skill to let go of what could’ve happened” I’ve had to learn this in my classical games, I’m still not very good at it, but when you say it like that, I realize it extends to more than chess
Levy needs serious help without 300,000 views in 3 minutes
Good job on the draw levy :) can’t wait to see the next games
