Your channel gets better everyday mate, thanks.
It does!
Thanks mate, really appreciate that :)
Love Salad Concept , great salads and mostly organic.
👍
super informative on condo rates/locations with a neighborhood walk through...almost like being there
Thanks :)
I can feel your "positivity" in what you are doing. Cheers to this channel. I am currently looking at moving to Thailand .. Kantary Hills appears to be the ONLY place i will ever live in (inside of Chiangmai.) I will only live there.
Thanks :) Yeah Kantary Hills looks like a really nice place :)
Glad you like the coffee! I totally agree, the satan latte is so smooth!
Yep I'll definitely be back there when I'm in Nimman next :)
Great video nice seeing chiang mai rentals.
Thanks mate :)
Great! I need some serious orientation around Chiang Mai. Even with Google maps I often end up driving endlessly around the city like a confused dementia patient.
The Kantary Hills Hotel and Serviced Apartments looks amazing. And the prices are astonishing. I cannot imagine what anything like that might cost in the west.
Haha, yeah that place looked really nice, hoping to view it at some point :)
A good video idea would be looking at condos and cafes/coffee shops along the Ping River.
Yep, I may try do something like soon :)
I really love your passion for Chiang Mai, thank you, Jon. Looking forward to new condo visits, including old ones that have potential for renovation.
Thanks mate!
As always, great video! I like how you drink coffee, not from Starbucks! Cuz everyone knows their coffee is quite shitty!
Thanks mate, haha yeah probably only ever been in Starbucks twice ever (and that wasn't my choice :))
Been in CM for 2 weeks with another 2 to go (let me know if you want to meet up!). I've decided to move here permanently in the next few months. So I'll be rewatching all your videos!
Nice, good luck on your move! You can drop me a message on Instagram, if I'm free and around town :)
@@jondcanton Sent you a message from my 'FightingAtFifty' acc
Not a big Niman fan. If there's interest, maybe do something around the Old City?
Yeah, thinking maybe one along the Ping river next :)
Kantary Hills can start at 41,000 per month during low season. Can go up to 50K during high season. But Kantary is a full serviced apartment with all the the high end benefits(Gym, sauna, steam room, pool, cleaning and optional breakfast buffet).
To expencive
@MrFrenkieB Yes but so worth it. I have stayed there many times. The studio rooms are modern, spacious and the faciliites are really great. One the best gyms and swimming pools in CNX. As always the 3 most important aspects of Real Estate are: Location, Location and Location. Kantary Hills is a modern project so sound proofing ie excellent and arrplane noise was minimal. Those who can afford it like it.
Wow that's a lot, bet it just be awesome inside! I'm hoping to check it out at some point :)
Hi, nice video as always. How did it go with the visa? Was it a big change for us who want to stay longer?
Unfortunately not heard anything else about it yet
I saw on an interview that you lived a couple hours outside of Chiang Mai. Did you move back? Thought you had an office gig where you were that kept you from heading to town as often as you like.
Yeah I moved to the city now and all good more than before! :)
I've been here for a few years and love the city, area, people, vibe, everything. However the smoke season is a real killer literally, I was sick for months and still haven't fully recovered. If I stay it surely will kill me as it does and has done to many. Doctors seeing many cases of all the things air pollution causes including in young people. Worst part is it's completely preventable but nothing has been done with no reason to think anything will be done any time soon. Cheers
Yeah it's a negative for sure
Great information John 👍
Really good content 👌
I'll be in Chiang Mai
Before summers ☀️ end
I'm planning to retire in Chiang Mai
[ and I would like to hire you to possibly show me some condos & areas and some information on areas and such.... I would be very happy to pay you directly for your time ] 🤝
Thanks mate appreciate that. You can always drop me a line on Instagram :)
One thing I noticed prices have really gone up over the past fear years maybe 50% or more
Depends on where you live ... some things like Electricity seem to have gone up, but the last 2 years have had especially brutal 'summers', so that extra 50% could mostly be due to using the AC more.
Gas is up about 1 or 2 baht per ltr. But I use so little of it that the increase doesn't make much of an affect on me (although it could be harder on local Thais)
Other than that the rest of the utilities (water, garbage, Drivers license, visa fees, etc) seem to be the same.
I Live 10 km or so South of the old city (Hang Dong district) and 'Fancier' restaurants may have increased their prices slightly, but I usually just head out to the local temple where 'permanent' food carts sell really healthy and good tasting Thai food for next to nothing (if I'm lazy I pick up a 20 baht bag of something like 'Red Curry Chicken', take it home and add some rice and veggies (grown in the back yard) and I have a $0.60 or less meal ..which is the same price I paid when I first moved here 5 years ago.
When I do go shopping at the big chain grocers, those prices do seem to be up around 50% ... so if you do all your shopping at 'Big-C' and eat at Minman Restaurants, then yeah, I suspect 50% increase in food expenses are more or less accurate.
I'm 67 and retired, so the Ninman lifestyle isn't my thing ... I much prefer living outside the city and getting to know actual Thais rather than the Europeans living in Thailand (not to minimize them, if I were younger I might be more into that, but these days it just seems more of a hassle, and too much of a 'been there, done that' experience!)
@@RetiredInThailand I’m talking about real estate
Yep, rental prices definitely have increased
Where are you originally from?
From the UK originally :)
