    Thanks so much, your videos are very clear to understand. Also they are consistent throughout. I like that you repeat the same contradictions, considerations, etc in each opioid video to really drill that in my mind!

    In instances where fentanyl is killing people is almost entirely in illicit drugs obtained on “the street” where dosage is not at all controlled. Let us not go overboard once again in denying pain patients life changing medications because of the overprescribing sins of others in the past or because of street drug impurity

      Yes even tho I don't rly see the use for a synthetic superstrong opioid like fentanyl or like carfentanyl they use to sedate elephants etc. Cuz like heroin or hydromorph are very strong too I don't see the benefit of fentanyl. Since the dosage is so low & overdose risk it's not a synthetic drug worth it imo. I mean when natural alternatives are available that work very similar. And it's just hard to keep something off the black market anyway. Those patches tho are pretty safe but even then id prefer like Dilaudid or buprenorfin.
      Heard a story here about a 15yr old boy who bought 1 pill supposedly Oxy, and it turned out to be fentanyl & instantly killed him, sad.

    isn't bulk forming foods add to constipation? it should be high fiber foods

    • @NurseRyan
      @NurseRyan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, yes you are absolutely right about that. Bulk-forming foods/laxatives are typically avoided. I've updated the description to add clarification! Thank you!
      "Increasing dietary fiber, fluid intake, and physical exercise are the backbone to prevention therapy... All types of laxatives can be used as initial therapy except for the bulk-forming laxatives... The only laxatives that should be avoided are the bulk-forming laxatives, like psyllium. These laxatives increase the bulk of the stools, distend the colon, and augment peristalsis. Opioids prevent peristalsis of the increased bulk which worsens abdominal pain and can contribute to bowel obstruction." - Opioid Induced Constipation (2021) - PMID: 29630236

    How long does it stay in your system after last use?

    • @NurseRyan
      @NurseRyan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jocelyn, the following information was found on AmericanAddictionCenters.org:
      "While the effects of fentanyl may only be felt for a few hours, traces of the drug remain in the system for much longer and can show up on a drug test. Additionally, dose, duration of use, frequency of use, weight, urine concentration, and impaired kidney or liver functioning can all affect detection time."
      "Fentanyl will usually show up on a urine test between 24-72 hours after last use. Hair tests can detect the drug for up to 3 months, and blood tests can detect it between 5 and 48 hours after use depending on the dose."
      Hope that helps!

    where can I order this? I have alot of backpains and knee pains.

    • @NurseRyan
      @NurseRyan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, Fentanyl is an opioid that requires a prescription. I would recommend speaking to your doctor about your back and knee pains. They would likely recommend non-opioid medications to start. They may also recommend lower potency opioids. Remember that Fentanyl is not to be used in those who are opioid-naïve. Hope that helps!
