Did the same on my LRST... the only difference was I added the 4 inch round gauge from the S version of the bike... replacing the digital only gauge. No extensions needed, except the wire for the new gauge is different, so had to order that. Feels better, looks better, all around worth doing.
@@pauldenton9568 Hi Paul. Yes, I used the Thrashin mount and bracket. Used their can for the gauge. All Thrashin parts, except the Gooden-Tite bushings aren't Thrashin, of course. Overall I believe Thrashin makes a superior product in every aspect of design and implementation of that design.
Would love to see a video with the Thrashin high rise bars ! I’ve got the 6.5 pullback risers and was thinking of going the high bars . Any progress on that situation?
Not yet- spent money on rear suspension first. Since it will require new clutch and brake line, I was thinking I’d do the front suspension (cartridges and +2) and the high rise bars at the same time.
Thanks for the video! Looks good. Do you have any recommendations on the bushings and size mounting bolts you used? Got the same risers on its way, throwing those on my ST also.
I usually buy gooden tite bushings, you can get them from Alloy Art. The bolts you need are 1/2-13 thread x 3 inches along w/lock washers. I’ve always used Grade 8 or ARP bolts, but I’ve been told grade 5 or above is fine. Can get them at your local hardware store.
Hi I am going to do this tomorrow wondering why you can't use the standard bushings ? I have limited resources where I am riding there is only one harley shop in the state
Awesome video bro down here in Texas I went through hell to find the damn clutch and brake extension. Life of being on the Booty hole end of Texas lol. Sweet set up bro
Just had my Thrashin' 6.5" and Mid-bars installed. Wanted the high bars, but as you mentioned, no need to change the cables with the mid bar. I feel the same about the stock handlebars....almost a forward sweep with the hand placement. NOTE: Just saw another video where someone got the Bung King riser....it was about $300 cheaper than Thrashin'.
Bung King makes some decent custom risers, had a few sets on FXRs/Dynas. I like the internal wiring and the one-piece setup. Prefer the look of the trashin ones on this bike so was willing to spend the $
How tall are you if you don’t mind me asking? I’m 6ft and a bit. Worried the 6.5 won’t be enough but at the same time don’t want to drop a shit ton of money on cables plus install for the pain in the ass dual disk brake and abs brake bleed.
I’m 5’10”. I would compare the 6.5 riser and stock bar to a 10” setup. If you swap to a higher bend bar might be more like 12”. This is the shortest riser I’ve had on a Harley in some time. My last FXR had the 9” Thrashin Pullbacks with their high rise bar, which was probably around 14”. A bit too tall for me on an FXR. The current setup on this softail in the video is better than stock, but I still think I’d be more comfortable with a couple of more inches in height. I am looking forward to adding the higher bend bar. I think it’s personal preference.
@@pauldenton9568 good to know! I’m assuming if you go with the high bend you will need to change out your cables? Seems like what you have everything is just about at its limit
I have a 23’ Lowrider S and I’m curious if the S and ST have the same length cables. I know the risers are different. They are straight on the S and pullback on the ST. They also have different gauges.
Ride the same bike here in Miami. I rode Mendocino last year and rented a bmw 1200GS. It was an amazing area to ride in even though I was freezing 🥶 lol 40s and 50s the whole time. 😂
Just bought these exact for my ST - did you have to swap to up grade to the 8 1/2 - 3” bolt ? Or did you just use all of your stock retighten . I bought the goodntights bushings and planning on going to the 3” grade 8 bolt they recommend..
Well.. if you raid it more. The cables are all plug and play .. so it’s not all that difficult or expensive to swap.. I just looked into it.. I’d personally like to pull it back just a bit more, but might be able to just turn the bars a little more
The brake line is the main issue as that one is not plug and play. I did a similar swap on my Low Rider but I was not able to get enough brake line. The bending he mentioned is super smart
Nice video. Just ordered a set today. At 5’6” the stock set up didn’t suit me. Hoping this will do the trick. Should receive next week. Always a bit hesitant to change bars and risers. Until installed and put into use it’s a guess that they’ll work out. Easy too spend a lot of money and be dissatisfied with the results. Take care.
Definitely can be a crap shoot installing new bars and risers on a bike. Hopefully that works for you. I’m currently swapping the stock bars to the high bend thrashin bars and adding their 1” riser extension for a little added height.
I have a 23 RG ST. im 5'6" I have the 6.5 pull back with the highbend bars. love them but i did add the 1" riser block afterwards. I wish I lived closer to the Thrasin shop. 5 min of sitting on the bikes they have there would of saved so much time and been so much easier. Ride on!
How did you like the 6.5 inch risers? And did your arms sit a little below shoulder level? I’m 5’3” and wondering if the 6.5 risers are enough for me. I’m trying to go away from doing cable extensions.
@@pauldenton9568 thanks for the reply... my risers are scheduled to arrive this Thursday... will probably tackle the install this weekend... I watched the install video Thrashin' put out and I saw they just turned the wheel. I just wanted to confirm if this was really possible or not for a "non-professional"... as I am certainly not a professional... :) I asked another guy on TH-cam and he said the dealer charged him for 3 hours of labor to install these 6.5 inch risers (stock cables) on his ST. I rode mine from Maryland to Sturgis and back (~4,100 miles) with the stock risers and realized it will be much more comfortable with the risers and pull back. +9,000 miles on the ST now and no complaints... great bike!
It’s probably 2 inches higher. The riser is approx 1 inch or so higher and tilting the bars up to a more reasonable and aggressive riding position may have added an inch. I still feel like I could use another inch or so, so I’ll swap to higher bend bars soon.
Thanks for this, was looking for a “no cables” solution to bring the bars just a tad closer on the ST. This is it!
