I traded my Low Rider S 2020 for a Street Glide 2023, and now I miss the agility of the LRS .. I’m really considering changing back to a LRST … Having bags is a must, but I think the ST bags is enough for daily uses in the city rides .. I honestly don’t do long rides .. only weekend rides ..

when I travel cross country, I pull a camper behind my motorcycle so I like the gold one gross vehicle weight is 1370 pounds I weigh 150 so that made me a room for my camper and my stuff. Also, the main reason I like the bigger bike is because it has bigger breaks and easier to control the stop even in emergencies but any bike you take is a good bike

Personally I’m going with the heritage classic, also adding a fairing with infotainment system pre installed at a later date. But for now straight off the lot, it’s ready to go. And very comfortable ride for the wife also. Although I’m a huge fan of the lowrider st, just my personal preference.

Great video! I love both these bikes, very interchangeable. One has a little more weight, a little more storage and the infotainment. the other has storage as well and a great suspension for great handling and ride. both I think are great for riding around town or a long trip, it just depends on what mood you're in that day, I have the Road Glide now, think I'll add the Low Rider ST just because you can never have to many bikes! I never get tired of these types of discussions on your channel

At 77 and counting I like the Lower Rider ST AND the weight difference. The newest Harley I ever owned was a 2019 Electra Glide Standard like Sandy had. It with the 107 just over 800lbs was very comfortable except for suspension. The new ST with forward controls, floorboards, fairing lowers, and chopped tour pac, simular to a Limited would get my attention. My problem other that continuing to get older is with colors. Even the 2024 colors just don't pop to me other than the El Diablo. I currently ride a gussied up 2012 Street Glide that has progressive suspension which is like riding my easy chair. Enjoyed the conversation from you young whippersnappers!!!! LOL!

Loved reading your comment. I turn 62 next month and buying the lowrider ST for it's smaller size and weight. I was thinking I may be too old getting back on a bike after I sold my 825 lb street glide 17 years ago. But reading you are 77 and counting (God Bless you bro) I feel better about my decision to get back on two wheels. Plus that sweat 117 Cubic Inch engine means that bike will provide more power than I will ever need. Safe travels my friend!!

On last summer’s 1200 mile guy’s trip up to the UP of Michigan, I took the Low Rider ST instead of the Street Glide I’ve always ridden in the past. Easy Peasy. Only three differences. 1) the ST was much easier slow speed handling, and easier to move around. 2) I watched Sandy’s video and put forward controls on the ST, and I really missed being able to move my feet back after a few hundred miles. 3) we rode all the twisty back roads, so the ST was more fun than a full bagger, BUT if the trip was going to run some interstates at 80+, the full bagger would definitely be better for that.

I have a 2019 low rider standard , I travel with it all the time, very comfortable, I did put cruise on it, I would upgrade to a low rider ST but Im not a fan of the blacked out look, plus the clam shell bags suck! Hoping Harley updates the bags and offers a chrome version. I just love how much lighter it is compared to the touring models, and like sandy said, the suspension is nice stock.

I like the look of my FXLRST. I’m shorter and some lower back pain so with the stock bars, seat and the placement pegs suck. My Dyna is way more comfortable. I was able to change up some parts that puts me in a better position. Storage does suck but I changed the bags out to Leather Pros.

I have almost 19,000 miles on my 2023 Low Rider ST. Stock storage sucks, but you can tour comfortably on it. It might not have the luxuries of a SG or RG, but it's a great touring bike. The older I get, I like the lower weight of the LRST.

The ST fairing could be a game changer in my opinion. It’s sick. Beautiful. Till to the point I skipped booking my road glide. Yeah.. I rode couple of my buddy’s tourers, and found it too heavy and limited into how much I could utilise it fully in terms of my riding style. But the only setback I could see on the low riders is when if you have a pillion most of the time. It can be a bit congested for long rides. Anyhow great looking bikes the STs

  • @TwoWheelGarage

I went from a Road Glide ST to a Low Rider ST then back to a Road Glide. I absolutely loved the LR and it was the most fun motorcycle I’ve ever owned however, the buzz/vibrations in the bars at high speed (70+) was horrible for long trips and even worse when you add taller bars. After a couple hours my hands were numb from the buzz. This is due to the softail engine being solid mounted to the frame vs the rubber mounted engine on the touring bikes. I wish I could have both bikes because otherwise the LRST is a phenomenal bike and very capable.

I think the biggest difference in ability to tour of those 2 bikes is if you are riding 2 up or not. If you are like me 6'3" and 300lbs and a 150lb passenger and luggage for 2 people you definitely want a touring frame bike with heavier suspension.

Good stuff, I was at my local Harley dealer today discussing this very topic with two guys that work there. We landed on sportier ride quality and a lot more fun for the Low Rider ST, the 117 is perfect in a bike that weight, easier to flick around and throw into corners, and better stock suspension. Fairings are a wash like you two said.
The strengths of a bagger include better safety features like RDRS are available, better infotainment, one more gallon of fuel capacity, easier to ride two up, and more stable on highways. With all of that being said, which is better for an individual rider has to be subjective. Both good, both infinitely upgradeable.
I have been torn for months, but probably upgrading to the Low Rider ST over the Street Glide Standard. I will probably get the full size Advanblack bags for it though. I like the Rickrack setup too. 👍🏾

I have a lowrider st sold my roadglide to get it. I have been on numerous cross country trips in my 67 years. The wind protection imho on the st is just slightly less than roadglide. It is way better than a streetglide as far as wind coverage. It is just easier for me to move the lowrider st around in general. I don’t need the radio i use a Lexin g6 on my Simpson helmet. That being said if you want a hot rod bike that you can tour on the lowrider st is the ticket.

    Great informative video
Looking at a bagger and was originally sold on a Road Glide but struggling to justify buying one as i dont really travel to far in the weekend's
Thinking the Lowrider would be more practical as it has enough storage capacity for a overnight trip and more practical and versatile to ride around town being smaller and more agile ( according to other reviews ive watched )
Both great bikes , like most people id love both but financially i can only afford one ( i own a 2016 Stryker, 2024 Vulcan S and still have my 1st bike a 2018 V Star 650 )
Wouldve loved a Yamaha Warrior as a daily but the fact they stopped making these nearly 20 yrs ago makes it impossible.

It has 4.5" of suspension in the rear, and 5" of suspension up front. Add a sissy bar out back and a seat, and it's a very capable 1 up bagger touring bike. It does need easily tunable rear suspension preload shocks like the Sport Glide has, adjustable for weight of bike passenger. I traded my Sport Glide in for a BMW R1250 RT. So far, no regrets. Much easier to service and do oil changes on the RT, suspension is self adjusting.

The naked fork stanchions on the Road Glide would be a no-go for me, when it comes to touring. There is a reason that you see the deflectors on the ST in this video, and usually either deflectors, fork tins, or even fork gaitors on long distance bikes. It's to keep the fork stanchions from getting dented from flying gravel on the highway and/or hardened bug guts, either of which can cause fork seal failure.

The Low Rider ST weighs 725 lbs. The touring bikes weigh in at around 825. Both are approximate estimates. Those are wet. People that weigh around 180lbs and up will be able to wrestle around the touring frames a little bit easier. But, if you want a more maneuverable motorcycle go with the softail.

Now that Advanblack has the ST fairing, full size bags, and tour pack options for the FXLRS/ST AND you can fit a set of touring hard lowers to the FXLRS/ST. I don’t see any huge advantage the road glide may have anymore. I mean yeah, the fairing is bigger, infotainment, and front storage. The weight is nice on the highway. But that’s it.
Is that worth the extra cost?
I’ve owned the Road Glide Limited. Loved it. I’d still have it if it weren’t for the sob story of why I don’t have it anymore. But now that I have my FXLRS… it’s only $5,000 in parts to basically build it into a Low Glider Limited to include heated grips and a nicer seat with the above mentioned Advanblack parts, Baja lights up front, Custom Dynamics in the rear.
Seems like a much better deal than buying an RG Limited again.

But Holy Shift being a couple inches shorter and loves it....I just don't know. I would definitely hit up Advanblack for the regular bags conversion and get rid of the clamshell bags.

I love my Low Rider S. I couldn’t lift the ST but I wanted the ST. I didn’t know you can do forward controls on the Low Rider. I need a fairing on my S.

Hey man! I have a low rider s. What seat do you guys use for distance? 450 Mike's on a sundowner was like torture. I like my saddlemen seat around town, but...

Believes it has to be that exact style rack like you have on your RG in order for it to work. The Softail ones are thinner so their bracket doesn't work with it unless something has changed.

What RG has over LRST? The dash! That little, tiny dash/display on the LRST is my only turn-off with that bike. I love everything else about it. But the screen, screen options, radio, big gauges is NIGHT N DAY versus the LRST. Hey where's your flannel with the flag on the sleeve from btw? I like it!

I’ve had that low rider st on the brain since it came out, it would be the perfect complement to my RG named Nikki. I’d definitely use it for local Ripping Runs.

I sort of wish I went with the Low Rider ST. I don't ride far as much as I'd like, but I ended up with a RG Special. Love the bike, but I think the Low Rider ST would've been perfect and whenever I do long rides, I think it would've still been comfortable.

This video helped me make my mind. I’ll get a low rider S and just upgrade the fairing to the low rider st fairing.

What do you think of the Saddleman Road sofa for long distance rides. You’re honest opinion.

Would you have the low rider st as a second bike to your road glide? Or too similar?

As a prior owner of a 2019 RG Special (114)... I will say that touring models from Harley are lack luster imo. The seat, bars, windscreen, and suspension all need to be replaced almost immediately. The LowRider ST has a lot more appeal to me than getting into another touring line-up Harley
