I got this idea while watching this: have you thought about cutting down the lower part of the robe? That is, cut a bit off so that it doesn't do the traffic cone thing that you mentioned?
I've thought about that but cutting that precisely is a little difficult and the edge is even worse to even back out and to be made to look like a hemmed bottom again.
Keep the modelkit videos coming! Really enjoy and love your videos and almost everytime after I watch your modelkit reviews, I get one or two(for troops) modelkits for myself. Super excited for the clone trooper tho!
+Iszzuan Nazim Yeah, that Clone is the top of my list at the moment. I love the model troopers so getting another is icing. And I'm glad I can help you spend your money, haha!
+The Endternet I can see sticking with the amalgam Figuarts. We're all in the same boat when it gets close to MAFEX release time though. I just got the model built yesterday and now I'm looking forward to the next Kylo. Sheesh.
Man I'm new to this model kits and I'm totally amazed, how a model kit can be such a great piece, with articulations and all the great stuff that you show on this video. And as you may see, this is the first video that I've watched from your channel. I've just subscribed and definitely I'll check your other videos! Thanks.
David Romero Yeah, same here. They're great fun to build and they're pretty cheap on Amazon but you might have to wait about a month. When it arrives I've usually forgotten about and it's like a nice surprise xD
Great looking kit. When I get mine I think I'll dull coat the arms and maybe airbrush some black into the folds of the fabric. If your having problems with the outer fabric on the legs while posing you could glue wire to the backside of the fabric, that may help to keep it in place.
+jigabachi73 Yeah, a shot of dullcote would put it over the top. I need to start thinking about that kind of stuff before I put the kit together, would be so much easier still on the sprues. And the wire is interesting. If I get a second kit (and for some oddball reason I usually do with these, I have no clue why) I may get crazy with it.
Oooo I really like this. Now that Bandai does rubber parts, the possibilities endless. Just think of how a Zuckuss would look. ZUCKUSSSSSS! Also 17:33 - those look awesome together!
Glad to see them experimenting with different materials, probably the best solution to heavy cloth they've come up with. Possibly the best looking Kylo yet, I'd pick it up if I hadn't already bought the Figuarts. The arms are a little strange to me though, the elbow joint in particular looks very bad when used. There's no shape to the joint to give the illusion of an elbow, it's just a flat piece.
+Samuntrus Yeah, the elbow is a drawback, but I think of it as a trade off, with the awesome range of movement. Guess they could give the elbow piece a little definition, hmmm.
+The Fwoosh That would be a great idea, I hope they consider this idea in the near future. Besides that, regarding the Classic Trilogy models, I'm still waiting for a Snowtrooper.
Hi there, just built my Kylo Ren Bandai and have to say what a awesome model, the rubber cloak I thought was a nice touch to this model and fitted without to much difficulty.Next I might buy the Clone trooper anyway thanks for the vid on Kylo Ren it made my mind up to buy this excellent model.
Actually after watching the film again, looking at stock photos, and the Hot Toys figure, the higher belt and higher slit in the front of the robe are more accurate on the SH Figuarts and Black Series (even more so on the Black Series). I think it's the scale of these figures throwing the look off a bit. The model kit is still nice though and I might still pick it up to go along with the other two. Might be adding the Mafex too, as long as it doesn't fall apart like the C3PO.
@@TheFwoosh I've just built this kit and had the same issues as you did with very tight pegs, though once they're in they're very secure. I was brave and used the sticker on the mask, it was a tense couple of minutes but it ended up in the right place and looks good. If only someone would invent a chrome Gundam marker!
Hey, Robo! Have you tried to combine all your Kylo Rens together? Watching several review videos got me thinking and maybe, the Figuarts arms and legs, or, alternatively, Mates arms and legs could fit Bandai torso? Provided the Figuarts/Mafex head fits the torso as well, and combined with Figuarts/Mafex accessories, I think this could possibly be the ultimate Kylo. I've been thinking about getting Bandai Kyli and trying that myself since I only have the Mafex Kylo. While I really do like the overall figure and have already tweaked with the cloth robes to be more form-fitting and repainted he unmasked head, I still have some minor issues with the torso, esp. the upper part.
Hi Mate, very usefull video. Have you assembled the Rise Of Skywalker Version? Compaired to regular Black Series 6.0 inch figures, how is their quality and weight? Should I go for Giguarts version instead?
I'm glad you liked it! I really liked the rubbery material, it's just a shame they didn't use it on other figures for fabric looks. (Like Vader, captain P) I hope they keep using it in the future, or get better fabric.
+kylethedalek It's been discussed at different places under here, but the rubber opens the doors on even more characters. Before the models worked best with armored characters. But now they can do Tuskens, Zuckuss, Jawas. I still feel they won't do humans or aliens with a lot of detail, but they can now cover a lot of others. So exciting.
+The Fwoosh i never thought about that! That's something's to be hopeful for! It would be nice if they released capes and such in the rubbery material or if they get better fabric. And dam you have got me excited for more model kits! ;)
nokturnal02 I did an update video just for you, showing with the scarf but without the hood. th-cam.com/video/_uWKAKweXwY/w-d-xo.html How's that for service?
Damn Fwoosh...!!! between these kits & my Deago Falcon I'm gonna go broke...!!! I think it's Bank Robbing time...lol I keep watching your reviews of these kits... & I keep wanting to get more of them... I started out just wanting Boba Fett & Slave 1... the Stormtrooper & Sandtrooper... now I've got R2 & BB8... plus another Stormtrooper on the way which I'm going to make into a Shadowtrooper... now I need to get Kylo & the rest of the gang... you're like having a missus...!!! after I watch your reviews... I gotta go spend more money...lol keep 'em coming...!!! can't wait til June when they're supposed to be releasing the Clone trooper... that's going to be crazy good...
+The Sarge Haha, no worries, I love helping people spend their money! Yeah, June (well, probably first of July) is going to be awesome. I need as many clones as I can get.
+The Fwoosh Yeah thanks for that...lol yeah... I gotta get me a few Clones too... gotta make them into Rex... Cody & Wolf...!!! aswell as all the ships they've got... my wallets going to be empty for some time to come...
The Sarge I'm hoping that after the Battle Droids they come back to the Clones and do some Commanders. Or one, with decals for different squads. Hmm, wonder if they will add any different color decals for the regular clone? Doubt it, but it would be cool.
After seeing this review, I'm not sure about getting it...Sure I have the Figuarts and the Black Series Kylo Ren but...I don't know, I'm not convinced with the Model Kit. I was with the Stormtrooper, Vader, Boba Fett, The FO Stormie and the droids but I wasn't with Phasma... I don't know...I like the hood, the model kit seems pretty good but...but I don't know if I really want it...
+Yarlick I can see that. It doesn't help that the MAFEX is coming either. But with the way the models are still available long after release, even if you have second thoughts you're good. And if not, still good. It's win win with these.
Thanks for the review it was excellent and it was a great help. The Kylo Ren model kit looks awesome. I'm going to buy it. I've been meaning to ask, where did you ordered the cape for Captain Phasma?
You could probably get the Black Series robe to fit, but if you're going to use the model kit hood and scarf you'll have to cut the cloth hood off the Black Series robe. Just too much stuff all bunched up around the neck.
Hey, I was wondering about these Gundam markers, does the paint from these markers easily come off? I recently picked up the Boba Fett and I was going to paint the silver dings on him, and I was trying to get ideas for painting. Thanks.
They aren't super complicated. I had next to no model experience before doing my first Star Wars figure kit, and I haven't had much problem with any of them.
+leoncio989 The model kit looks slightly wider than the Figuarts, and the Figuarts was a tight fit for the Black Series robe, but I'm sure you could get it to fit. Especially if you put it on before putting the arms, waist, and head on, when you're dealing with just the torso.
Sometimes I pain then TRY to use a marker to color it. THe marker becomes dry almost immediately due to the paint. Does that occur with Gundam MArkers?
+Mark M Yeah, I get that too. Granted, I'm fairly new to the markers but I do have to constantly shake them or draw on some paper to get it to flow again.
+RoadkillSG I don't know if it would be better. At that point only the arms and head are showing. I think you get a little more leg movement with the Figuarts but the more in the arms on the model. Total toss-up, depends on your personal preference.
+Mark M No, no human kits produced or announced. It's tricky with the pieces being molded in the base color, human characters would require a lot of painting to make it look up to snuff.
+The Fwoosh That makes sense, the face and hands require lots of paints instead of just one solid color. I guess I really just want more Luke Skywalker's for no other reason but because he's Luke. Figuarts and Black Series are fine but the more varieties the merrier.
Mark M Oh definitely. And don't even get me started on Leia and Lando. Neeeeeeeeeed. But imagine if they did do models, the eyes being decals, haha. Don't get me wrong, I'd still buy them in an instant, but it might be a nightmare. Never say never though, they are doing model kits for Dragon Ball. Sure, it's a cartoon, but it's a step in that direction.
+Hafed Yehuda Yes it does. I wasn't able to do it since I switched robes on mine, but VeeBee did the switch and posted it on our instagram. instagram.com/thefwoosh/
I had the same exact problem getting the tab on the skirt into the slot. It was a bitch haha. As for the mask part, I have a black fine point paint marker and I could draw in the black part. It fit perfecting into the groove. I may do something similar that you did if I decide I want it to be more silvery. One of my few gripes about all the figure kits, I wish they gave the hand parts some sort of hinges. It sucks that all they have is twist articulation at the wrist. It's been the one common problem I have with each kit. Other than that, bandai has put out another great kit! Another good video, on to the next!
+Metalpug79 Haha, I'm glad I'm not the only one that snagged on those rubber tabs! Yeah, after all the painting I realized I could have just filled in the black parts with my fine tipped Gundam marker. Ah well, next time. And I agree about the hands. There is a slight movement because of the ball, but not near as much as other figures, and not as much as I'd like. Especially for characters with lightsabers.
+The Fwoosh I agree and you should try using a hair dryer to remold the Figuarts hood, maybe it'll look better. And thank you for replying! I love your channel!
That's exactly what I use. It says Lacquer, which is usually a no-no on action figures, but I've never had a problem in the 15 or so years I've been using it. Geez, 15 years.
No the lower belt is actually wrong. And the fact that the road does not separate up to the belt point makes it even more in accurate. Remember that this is menswear not a dress
If this came with an attachable Adam Driver head, I would buy it. I don't like the Bandai Figuarts version of the lightsaber, the crossguard blades are too short. And the Black Series version is just too toy-like.
@fwoosh - Is that the Darth Vader helmet from the black series he's holding? Because it looks good there and not so much on the figure. But maybe u just painted Vaders model kits' eyes? Cool review man I love watching your Star Wars Model Kit reviews :)
+The Fwoosh Yup been watching them all since the first Vader/Stormtrooper reviews. And yea I thought it might be the Black series head. The eye color made me think so. What made me question it possibly was the fact it looked good lol. But it may just be an angle thing or something like the head not on the figure. (although I DO like my SWBS Vader) One of my favorites you did was the Boba Fett kit. Lates!
There is so much Star Wars and Marvel coming that I feel like I couldn't devote the time needed to review Gundams. Plus I have no attachment to the franchise, even though that's never stopped me before, haha. Thanks man.
don't forget you can use black series weapons quite well with these. So you can swap out his lightsabre if you didn't want to paint it. And vice versa! (also works with First Order blasters, so you don't have to paint them!)
+The Fwoosh yeah I don't play with my action figures, I just display them, but I really don't care for the Kylo I have because it's not to scale with the rest of my guys.
AssassinNMPS Then yeah, model is the way to go. The Figuarts is a little small. Or you can hold out for the MAFEX at the end of the year. It looks to be the greatest one but can't be sure about size yet.
I posted a few pics of some of the Bandai Star Wars kits on my Instagram (jigabachi73) some are custom paint jobs and some are straight builds. Take a look and tell me what you think.
hey guys are friends again just let you know I am not a collar and said sorry my personal opinion that's what came out I finally got one to Jango Fett black suit thank God and you fwooh elegant see you on the dark side.
honestly, putting that fabric cape on the sh figuarts Kylo makes it look ridiculous. Question: what is your typical pose for most of these figures?...high kicks?....crouching?...action pose?...statuesque?......bit of all?
so you mainly take photo's? you mention your shelf in just a lot of your videos. when are you going to show your entire collection so far? would love to see it
***** Oh, when they are on the shelf I have them mostly standing because of how many there are. Eventually I'll have encased wall shelving in other parts of the house to give the figures more room to breathe, but too many kids wandering at the moment, hah. And I posted my small room video a month ago.
"I'm havin tha time of my life right now" love this guy
+Andrew Peru Haha, thanks, I love my toys and I'm not afraid to express it!
I just removed the longer robe and hood for my figure when I finally did it today
Nice looking figure. Looks better than I expected. Can't wait to see how does the MAFEX one turns out.

im going to get this one to start off with as it does not need that much paint or decals. plus kylo is my favorite character
Figuarts with Black Series cloak is still the best for me. Waiting for Mafex to see if that amalgamation gets dethroned.
+The Endternet I can see sticking with the amalgam Figuarts. We're all in the same boat when it gets close to MAFEX release time though. I just got the model built yesterday and now I'm looking forward to the next Kylo. Sheesh.

No, thank you, glad you like the model kit and the video!
David Romero you should check out gundam model kits, I like the designs but don't know anything about them but they're crazy good!
Billy Mclaughlin thanks, Billy. I Will check them out. though I dont know anything about them either. Just that it is a japanese anime.
David Romero Yeah, same here. They're great fun to build and they're pretty cheap on Amazon but you might have to wait about a month. When it arrives I've usually forgotten about and it's like a nice surprise xD
Great review chief, keep them coming. Kylo looks great, I love the rubbery material. What I NEED now is a tuskan raider!
+Peacho That's yet another one I hadn't thought of. With the rubber robes they can now give us Tuskens, Zuckuss, Jawa multipacks?
With the visor piece being a grey, it might have been easier to just paint in the black grooves with a Gundam fine line pen or something
Great looking kit. When I get mine I think I'll dull coat the arms and maybe airbrush some black into the folds of the fabric.
If your having problems with the outer fabric on the legs while posing you could glue wire to the backside of the fabric, that may help to keep it in place.

Think I'll have to pick this one up to go with my other four Kylo figures.. maybe two of them..
This new rubbery materials used in Kylo's clothes makes me want a new version of Darth Vader from Bandai.
+Guilherme Oh man, same here. They could change it up somehow, maybe include an unmasked head for us to paint or something.
+The Fwoosh That would be a great idea, I hope they consider this idea in the near future.
Besides that, regarding the Classic Trilogy models, I'm still waiting for a Snowtrooper.
Guilherme The model troopers are the best, so I'm definitely in for a Snowtrooper. And a TIE Pilot. And an AT-AT Driver.

Heh, that and Cairo Wren is usually the overseas translation on Google.

elite series is choppy unnarticulated and heavy

It can be chipped off but it's pretty durable. It's exactly what I used for the Boba Fett dings and dents.
Yeah one TH-camr did it with a sharpie and it came out pretty damn good.
this review basically makes me not buying the shf kylo ren, but I cant resist the shf kylo accesories. So I bought it and sold the figure lol
Are the model kits worth the time, for someone who has never built one of these before?
They aren't super complicated. I had next to no model experience before doing my first Star Wars figure kit, and I haven't had much problem with any of them.
Man!!I Was missing videos of model kits!!!
+Gabriel Mendonça Me too, me too. I wish these came out more frequently, I love these things.
Do you think the model kit hood would work on the Figuarts seeing the shape is way better.
+bladerunner1b Yes, it works great. We'll have pics on the site soon and I have an update video to edit showing that exact thing.
Thanks Fwoosh, appreciate it!
Can you use the black series fabric on the model kit? If yes, then I'm getting it!
+leoncio989 The model kit looks slightly wider than the Figuarts, and the Figuarts was a tight fit for the Black Series robe, but I'm sure you could get it to fit. Especially if you put it on before putting the arms, waist, and head on, when you're dealing with just the torso.

+Mark M Yeah, I get that too. Granted, I'm fairly new to the markers but I do have to constantly shake them or draw on some paper to get it to flow again.
Would it be a pain in the rear to put the stickers/water decals on?
Naw, they are pretty easy. But I think it would have taken away some of the detail of the mask.
Ty, if you apply the decals, does details on yoda, darth vader, and general grievous's face get removed also?
the kylo figures need cloth with wires inside them for the robes, only way to make it all work in my opinion
Especially to let the robes be able to drape out and down over the knee in a leg forward position. Rubber and plastic just doesn't do it.
Would putting the Black Series cloak on the model kit work better than the Figuarts x Black Series mix?
+RoadkillSG I don't know if it would be better. At that point only the arms and head are showing. I think you get a little more leg movement with the Figuarts but the more in the arms on the model. Total toss-up, depends on your personal preference.
the hood is cool bit i dont lioe the fig that much, can you put this hood on the SHF?
+The Eternal Experience I am doing exactly that now, should have it up this weekend.
+The Eternal Experience I went ahead and posted it because hey, I'm a pleaser. th-cam.com/video/_uWKAKweXwY/w-d-xo.html
Hey I have a bunch of unbuilt kits. Any word on human model kits such as Luke or Han? Has Bandai done human kits recently just to give me some hope?
+Mark M No, no human kits produced or announced. It's tricky with the pieces being molded in the base color, human characters would require a lot of painting to make it look up to snuff.
+The Fwoosh That makes sense, the face and hands require lots of paints instead of just one solid color. I guess I really just want more Luke Skywalker's for no other reason but because he's Luke. Figuarts and Black Series are fine but the more varieties the merrier.

would the traffic cone problem be mitigated with a custom robe/skirt?
Yup, definitely. I've done that with the SHF, should work here too.
Still going to wait for the mafex to see which one to buy. So far this one for sure.
+Dj Yeah, the MAFEX looks hard to beat. I'm just impatient and gotta have them all, haha.
The Fwoosh There's nothing wrong with that, haha.
+The Fwoosh Is the Mafex going to be the Unmasked Kylo?
KoCore B Yeah, it comes with the awesome looking unmasked head. th-cam.com/video/yphTHLyCwqQ/w-d-xo.html
Sir,why you don't use the s.h. figures storm trooper blaster
+Thiti Vongpahte I always forget.
What should I buy? This one or the black series. I'm struggling here
The model kit is probably better
how is the line of ninja figures doing btw?
+Verithiell Things are progressing overseas, we should have something to show soon.
I must have one!!!!
Should I buy this?
If you like the model kits, yes. If you're looking for the best Kylo, go with the MAFEX.
Can u use the hood to replace the figuarts one? Does it look good?
Especially for characters with lightsabers.
as always, perfect review !
+Maulana A. Maksudi Thanks!
+john byrd hands down hot toys is awesome thats the best one.
The only thing that bothers is how round the top of the hood is, but besides that this is an almost flawless figure!
+K.B. Reviews Yeah, there could be slightly more point, but it's still better than that poor excuse for a hood on the Figuarts version.
+The Fwoosh I agree and you should try using a hair dryer to remold the Figuarts hood, maybe it'll look better. And thank you for replying! I love your channel!
Is the mask silver?
how would you dull paint the sleeves? Just use a matt spray?
Yeah,I usually use Dullcote to knock down shine.
cheers man, clear or black?
www.amazon.com/Testors-Spray-Lacquer-Clear-Coat/dp/B009FF6DN4
That's exactly what I use. It says Lacquer, which is usually a no-no on action figures, but I've never had a problem in the 15 or so years I've been using it.
Geez, 15 years.
I hope there will be a predator one for when the new predator movie comes out
I would be worried about the rubber reacting to the plastic over the year's most paint the plastic.
Nice
The helmet have to put stickers on it ?
Another great review!!!!!
yo, so how many clone trooper are you getting ?
+Karel Lengkong As many as I can lay my hands on. Or as far as my budget will go, which means not as many as I'd like, haha!
The Mafex is now released!
Yup, uploading review now.
+Jamey Hedgehog You want the MAFEX. ME too.
after seeing this would you recommend using gundam markers for non painters on these kits
I love Gundam markers, I'd definitely recommend them, especially if you don't want to paint. It's more like coloring.
+The Fwoosh can I get a chrome or gold for c3p0
Randy Raber It won't be shiny gold or chrome, but yeah, the markers come in those colors.
+The Fwoosh god enough to go over the damaged areas
Randy Raber Maybe. It depends on how damaged it is.
@fwoosh - Is that the Darth Vader helmet from the black series he's holding? Because it looks good there and not so much on the figure. But maybe u just painted Vaders model kits' eyes?
Cool review man I love watching your Star Wars Model Kit reviews :)
+Cdog Cdog It's just the Black Series Vader helmet. I had a pieced out one sitting next to the desk and just grabbed it. And thanks, glad you enjoy!
+The Fwoosh Yup been watching them all since the first Vader/Stormtrooper reviews. And yea I thought it might be the Black series head. The eye color made me think so. What made me question it possibly was the fact it looked good lol. But it may just be an angle thing or something like the head not on the figure. (although I DO like my SWBS Vader)
One of my favorites you did was the Boba Fett kit. Lates!
Never payed much attention to these kits before great review its a risk for sure but not bad price tho !
AWSOME vid
+BrickBuilt Studios Thanks!
+The Fwoosh no problem
Have you ever thought on reviewing Gundams? Also great video
There is so much Star Wars and Marvel coming that I feel like I couldn't devote the time needed to review Gundams. Plus I have no attachment to the franchise, even though that's never stopped me before, haha. Thanks man.
man i wish they hadn't made his cape rubber, thats gonna be a nightmare to paint
I hope Bandai remanufacturing the robe of Darth Vader & Capt Phasma with rubbery material.
+Sam Apexi Yeah, that would be cool. It would take some re-engineering of Vader's shoulders but a re-issue would put that model over the top.
I HAVE THIS FIGURE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
don't forget you can use black series weapons quite well with these. So you can swap out his lightsabre if you didn't want to paint it. And vice versa!
(also works with First Order blasters, so you don't have to paint them!)
+Sir Stefan Channel! Oh yeah, forgot all about that. Thanks!
Where can you purchase him?
+WELOCME2DEATHLOK You can get him on Amazon right now bit.ly/1WCEJLw But if you wait a bit the price may go down.
+The Fwoosh thanks
You could stick the trunk to avoid that it moves
For Kylo do you recommend black series or model kit?
+AssassinNMPS For play, I'd go for the Black Series. For on the shelf, in a display, diorama, I'd go for the model kit. Just looks a lot better.
+The Fwoosh I refuse to pay that price for a figure arts but i don't have a mafex yet, how much do this cost?
AssassinNMPS Heh, they usually run about the same as Figuarts. I think you're looking for the model kit, it's the best.
It might just be the mic quality but he sounds older in his earlier videos than he does in his newer ones
what type of markers are those?. brand and such?
They are Gundam markers. Nothing special, you can get them online easily.
Hmm. Gundham, never heard of that brand. Cool, will look into it. Thanks.
Having the time of my life 😂😂
You must paint the face?
Yeah, or use the decals.

Any pose the pic calls for. If the articulation isn't usable then it might as well be a statue.
so you mainly take photo's? you mention your shelf in just a lot of your videos. when are you going to show your entire collection so far? would love to see it
***** Oh, when they are on the shelf I have them mostly standing because of how many there are. Eventually I'll have encased wall shelving in other parts of the house to give the figures more room to breathe, but too many kids wandering at the moment, hah. And I posted my small room video a month ago.
How does one convince their wife to let them spend so much time and money on toys? Share the secrets.
One word: Separate bank account and different work shifts. Well okay, that's more that one word. .
Get a better wife
Great review, but Fwoosh, get some sleep before doing these, your hands are shaking all over the place!
+Kadin Grayson Haha, yeah, I usually do these late at night after the kids are asleep, and I'm already naturally shaky anyway.
The Fwoosh Ah, alright.
Would using a normal silver sharpie work for the mask?
That may work, I've never used a silver sharpie before. The Gundam markers are actually a kind of paint.
