Worst thing is, if I would just slow down and actually study the instructions before jamming parts together I wouldn't stress. But nope, I want the figure so bad I just go go go. My own fault.
Great review! Really loved the posing at the end, you've really outdone yourself there. People generally underestimate how much creativity, research and effort that goes into posing a figure just right.
oh yeah, Robo is a true maestro at that. Despite his greying beard, the kid inside is still strong. I cant help but feel physical pain when I see some people posting sloppy pictures of their figures, or better yet, when they sell them and lay them flat on a table top. Blasphemy.
Aw, thanks guys, it's just something that's kind of developed over the years, most of the time it comes out by accident. Ironically they go on the shelf in mostly vanilla poses but that's mostly to save space. Someday....Robo Compound.
feels good living in Japan and getting this model for dirt cheap.had to do a lot of weathering and painting but I'm not complaining since it was all worth it.you don't have to go the extra and paint the lungs but people should try to paint the fleshy part of the throat and do a heavy glossy coat on the eyes and the painted throat part.
I built him yesterday and he's amazing. Even if guts are inside, behind green plastic, I painted them like on the box, because somehow it made me happy. Today I bought paint wash just for him and never did this before. I have 8 star wars bandai model kits, but this is definitely my favorite one.
Yeah, I haven't gotten around to painting yet but this one is definitely at the top of list of favorite kits. Just so much you can do with it. They really poured their heart into this one.
i have some modelkits i havent started but i remembered i wasnt able to get grievous yet but hearing you talking about building yours it made me want to get to build those that i havent
I was all for this kit until I saw the price on Amazon. $60? That's more than a Gundam Master Grade, models with full inner frames, bigger, and with way more intricate parts than this. That's an insane price Bandai. But I would be lying if I said I didn't want it still.
I went ahead and ordered this after watching this review about ten times over. Such a great in depth review and glorious looking model kit/ figure. Thank you Robo.
Dude I watched this video when I was trying to decide whether or not to buy this kit. After I bought it, I got stuck and could not figure out how to get a certain part to work. I remembered from your video that you got frustrated with a certain part so I came to rematch in case it happened to be the same step we got stumped on. It was! I'm so glad you made this video so I didn't have to torture myself trying to figure it out for too long.
thank you for all those poses!! now i know i'll be getting a Bandai for my General Grievous!! my down side i guess is that his hands doesn't close & open. but i guess i can live with it! thank you for sharing this vid!! more power!!
Finally I found a General Grevious figure that's worth the price on Amazon that's worth it in It's size and details to it especially his arms that split in half... Thank you for making this video...
Yes yes yes, this is everything I could ever hope for (in terms of model kits). At first I thought there might've been loose joints, like with the battle droid, but that doesn't seem to be the case.Great review Robo!, mine should arrive in the coming week, can't wait to finally add him to my collection
Great job on the review, you captured all the stuff that blew me away that I've been trying to explain! First model kit with an action feature, that feature, standing!! I have that Disney elite figure too, took a bandai action stand to get him to stand in just a basic static stance, and the bastard still fell over! This thing stands almost like a Weeble! Its hard to find a pose you can't make work. I painted up his organs, few different base colors, some blood wash and gloss, came out nice! I almost cried when I got the torso together and couldn't see the slightest bit of them. I took a picture at least to prove I wasted my time. A little weathering and the saber hilts painted, it looks like a shrunk down Hot Toys figure, I can't stop staring/posing/playing. Now we gotta convince Rickhor 409 to tackle that cloak lol
You have any pics? I really want to weather this one. I say that every time but here? I don't expect another version to beat this one, I have a feeling it's going to stay on the shelf for a good long while.
The Fwoosh I'll tag you in my instagram post, put up a bunch of shots. That's my thought on this guy too, he's gonna be a shelf staple for a real long time to come, I just don't see it being outdone. From the sculpt/detail, articulation, balance to the presence he has, SHf is going to have a major uphill battle competing.
Wow. Fwoosh tells you everything about the figure and how to fix a problem if there is a problem.. I mean for people who are obsessed with figures... how can you not subscribe to this guy?
It always broke my heart that we never got a truly great toy of Grievous, but with this model kit (especially the fact that it can stand upright) I think we've finally gotten there.
Yeah, exactly. Some people don't putting models together, and that's perfectly okay, but this is about as close as we'll get to perfect. Of course I say that and SHF will come along and be amazing too, never fails. Which is still cool, I guess.
Thanks for the review, Robo! Thanks for the hard work & sleepless night. I was surprised to see the review so soon after the last weekly. Awesome poses at the end!
I watched your video and bought this. Took 2 months to arrive. The neck/collar piece peg you talked about took me about a half hour to get and I had to take it apart twice. Outside of that I love this! He looks great on the shelf. I’m curious to see how Figuarts and BS ones look like when they finally come out.
It's been a while since I shot this so I don't remember if I mentioned it, but I had pretty much the same experience with that dang neck. Once that fell into place, love!
I just got this figure and finished it and yea, that part with the neck was a pain to put together. But nothing will compare to putting the lego technic bugatti together, which involved putting the front chassis and back chassis together after being built. Also the figure is awesome with or without paint. Great video!!!!!
Cape aside, it's completely worth the buy. I'm not the collecting type but this is my favorite character and I sturred and gurred my words fir a half hour at most when it was done. I definitely recommend it.
Boy, am I glad that I purchased mine last week! Just waiting for him to come in! Great video Robo, as always, and congrats on the engineering degree xD this is going to be such a great piece... he just looks pretty much perfect. Just needs a slight bit of weathering, like you said, but I have no problem doing that. Super excited!
Yeah, I may actually have to make time to get this one weathered up. Of course I say that and in a year or two I'll probably be saying the same thing, haha.
Finally bought the black series Grievous. The Hasbro cape and sabers look great on the Bandai Kit! Great for people who don’t want to go third party. Still, can’t wait for the CJEISM cape to compare.
Look amazing! I just ordered from Amazon just after watching this! Came back to tell you two things 1-. THANK YOU! 2-. Wow what a QC nightmare would be a Mafex Grievous would be!
This review was such a nice surprise. Didn't think it'd be out so soon. I am happy it seems that the hype was real! I can't wait to get mine. lol now I should actually order it 🤔😅Awesome as always, Robo!
Reminds me of the skeletons in the gundam model kits. Lots of clever engineering in those, and even full sculpted detail. Almost feels wrong when you have to cover all of it with the outer layer.
If you guys are looking for tips on building the figure you can always use nail clippers they worked so well when I built my Bandai grievous and I’m just 11 years old none of the pieces even broke
Visually Grievous is IMO one of the best, if not the best, looking character in the whole Star Wars Universe. The whole concept of his character is just awesome. I have the Hasbro Black Series. My sole complaint is there aren't ball joints at the ankles like this one has. Other than that it's one of my favorite figures.
I'm into star wars since a child .love clone wars ,wish they make old Republic before clone wars .anyway, I bought the model .love it, interesting enough find it on u tube about General Grievous,IWTF lol want asoka and darth Vader .and so on .love your videos. Manny from Brooklyn NY.make more please.
Pretty awesome model-kit. I think it scales better with the SHF SW figures than initially expected because I don't see Bandai releasing this as an SHF for a decent price. Grievous was one of my favorite characters in the prequels...which may be faint praise but like Darth Maul, I think everytime he was on screen the movies were better for it. I think the cape is actually quite good, but it's in serious need of some weathering. To anyone that has ever built a MG Gundam model kit, it's no surprise this turned out this cool.
I saw you picked this for your best of 17. I tried to comment on that screen but don’t have social media. I agree with it being top due to the sense of accomplishment and seeing the “robotics” go together. Btw-second hand lightsabers do slip into his hands and are better scale.
So excited to get mine. I had that one part of my mind when starting the review that it might be horrible but im glad that I was wrong. Btw how is the stand that comes with him?
It's not that great. It doesn't actually clip to him, from what I can tell. He just kind of leans back into it. I didn't need it for any of my poses except the stretched out running and the mid-air, and I have a better stand for that. The figure stands great.
My dad actually got this for my birthday, and I remember getting so stressed and frustrated about putting the pieces together. I tried to follow the instructions, but it was a bit hard for me. It also didn’t help that the language was in Japanese/Chinese and that only some sentences had English in it. Even though I’m part Japanese and understand how to speak some simple words in that language. Like, I know how to speak dog, cat, car, etc in Japanese. I used to speak Japanese pretty well when I was younger, I think. But I forgot how to speak most Japanese words as I got older (I’m 14 now). I think it’s because I was exposed to English a lot more. I only know a few Japanese words now, for some reason. Anyway, I ended up with a not-so-good Grievous. I was starting off good, but soon, the instructions was becoming a bit challenging. My dad was at work and my mom left to go shopping, so I didn’t have anyone to help me. Eventually, after some time struggling, I broke a few pieces in a fit of rage and started crying. I had anger issues, but I’m good now. I was like, 11 or 12 when this happened, I think. I felt guilty since my dad brought it and he basically wasted the money for nothing. One of Grievous’ ear pieces broke off eventually since those pieces were pretty fragile and could break easily.
Haha, I've been taking a little more time between videos lately, and I'm about to head out for two weeks to a couple of cons. Breaks are definitely good. And thanks, I appreciate the kind words, really.
I don't have many 1:12 Star Wars figures, generally I have my eyes on the affordable Black Series tho.... but these Model Kits are looking pretty sweet. And considering how much I like painting and customizing I'm thinking I would enjoy these figures, I'm just imagining adding washes and dry brushing to a figure like this, especially the underneath organs or whatever. Is the Vader still affordable and available? Hmmm....
Most kits are still available and pretty affordable. And yeah, if you're into that, you'll love these. I don't get to break paints out much anymore because of time but these are made specifically for that, you can't go wrong.
Yeah I snipped them all but sometimes they leave just a little stub that needs hit with the blade. I’ll have to look over the pamphlet a little more thoroughly then.
You know, all Bandai model plastic is polystyrene, so if you buy a bottle of Tamiya Ultra-Thin Plastic Cement, you can easily apply it to the finicky parts that pop off so that they never do so again! The stuff works better than any glue since it dissolves and welds the plastic parts together on contact, thus making a better, more long-lasting bond.
Black Series has hinted at a Grievous, with an actual listing popping up on a European toy store a few years ago, but nothing since. Seems they steer clear of the prequels for the most part. And hey, I never claimed to be an expert, haha!
This will make a fine addition to my collection
I......I can't believe I missed that.
The Fwoosh that should have been the cold open.
Hello there.
i clicked on this video to read this comment.
NO THIS WILL MAKE A FINE ADDITION TO *MY* COLLECTION
He is shorter than I expected
Jk, it looks awesome
Vinícius Idalgo Becegato "I understood that reference." -- Steve Rogers
I missed this quote too!! I really need to go back and watch the prequels again....
The Fwoosh you even pointed to the picture of the scene where that quote is said.
maybe just go to /prequelmemes
That figure looks so fricken badass even without paint. Just looks so clean and crisp. Big thumbs up!
You can slowly see him losing his sanity the more he built it.
Devon Palmer yeah, you can hear the stress in Robo's usually jovial voice build by the time he made it to the torso.
Worst thing is, if I would just slow down and actually study the instructions before jamming parts together I wouldn't stress. But nope, I want the figure so bad I just go go go. My own fault.
@@TheFwoosh how dare you disrespect me!
@@generalgrievous3845 darth Vader would beat you in a duel
Now i really want a model kit Magnaguard!
Harry h4rp4n yep
Harry h4rp4n no you want one of me
Fwoosh: "General grievous, your harder to put together than I expected."
Hezekiah Rodriguez shush no be smot
I Take Offense
His neck part is a pain to put together
This will make make a fine addition to my collection

I love how good this looks might pick him up and repaint him to be white like his 2003 version
THE MORE I WATCH YOU ROBO, THE MORE ITS LIKE IM TALKING TO YOU IN PERSON. GREAT REVIEW MAN! STAY HEALTHY!
Blasphemy.

Posing is the second best part of figure collecting.
The first is customizing 😁
Damn, I was waiting for the "probably says something like" line. Damn translations!
Haha, they're on to me!
Lightsaber blades can be adjusted by the user. His lightsabers are actually correct to him.
True, but the hilts are also larger than most other 6-inch scaled hilts.
Now all we need is a Black Series Grievous. But my favorite character in Star Wars is Cad Bane. I really want a Black Series or Model kit Cad Bane
I'm completely in love with this figure 😍
Weird
Soak the Cape in water for a few hours, let it dry it out and put it back on.
Going to give that a shot.
did it work? Mine's coming on Monday and I'm looking for cape alternatives/fixes
What does it do
@North 2 years ago, doubt he'll respond :(
@dry bones studios what
feels good living in Japan and getting this model for dirt cheap.had to do a lot of weathering and painting but I'm not complaining since it was all worth it.you don't have to go the extra and paint the lungs but people should try to paint the fleshy part of the throat and do a heavy glossy coat on the eyes and the painted throat part.
His cape doesn't have the interior pockets for additional lightsabers. :(
True, but given how they did the cape I can see why they didn't.
Or the logo!
Finally a 1/12 Grievous and he looks amazing! I need one for my collection for sure. I love painting.
Then you will love this, guaranteed!
I highly recommend washing. I'm very satisfied with the end result, because now looks less toyish.
That's on the list for sure.
If you don't mind the question, what paint do you recommend for washes and just painting in general
Definitely great if they start making model kit magnaguard
Ahmad Qayyum I hope they do it's my favorite droid
Again you are the best in the business. So excellent. I never thought I'd be interested in watching someone make a model.
i have some modelkits i havent started but i remembered i wasnt able to get grievous yet but hearing you talking about building yours it made me want to get to build those that i havent
I was all for this kit until I saw the price on Amazon. $60? That's more than a Gundam Master Grade, models with full inner frames, bigger, and with way more intricate parts than this. That's an insane price Bandai.
But I would be lying if I said I didn't want it still.
That price isn't Bandai's fault, that's the secondary market. The suggested retail price is closer to $35-$40.
I'm happy to stand corrected. Hopefully those amazon sellers (who usually list their items for MSRP) will lower the price once it's more available.
Jcc2224 i see u everywhere
The Fwoosh jokes on you , im geting mine for 25$
where is it $25?
Im so glad i satched this video, i hadn’t figure out how to work the joints in the arms and thought they couldn’t bend at the elbows
so cool, was choosing either black series or model kit grievous, this video makes me choose the model kit
You should see some of the engineering that goes into their Master and Perfect Grade Gundam kits, of course they also cost more than this.
Oh, that goes without saying. But for amateurs like me and just within the Star Wars line, this is pretty intricate.
I went ahead and ordered this after watching this review about ten times over. Such a great in depth review and glorious looking model kit/ figure. Thank you Robo.
No problem man, glad I could help! You should be very very happy.
Awesome.
Glad I was able to help man, that's awesome.
I tried getting the cape wet and molded it to his body and it looked great
Ah, good to know, I'll have to give that a shot.
Kylo Ren could you explain briefly how you do that?
STEEVEWES just get the cloth part wet until its drenched and then put both parts of the cape on and mold the cape to his body, and then let it sit
thank you for all those poses!! now i know i'll be getting a Bandai for my General Grievous!! my down side i guess is that his hands doesn't close & open. but i guess i can live with it! thank you for sharing this vid!! more power!!
Hasbro has one coming in a few months too, may be more toy-like. And Bandai has shown a S.H. Figuarts one but it hasn't been solicited.
I wish it wasn't so expensive! IM DESPERATE FOR THIS! Grievous is my #1 favorite star wars character!
Ive never been a fan of model kits but this has just pushed me to get this and other model kits ive seen
They end up more actin figure than model kit. This one has some smaller, fragile pieces so be careful. But totally worth it.
Just spent 2 hours building mine. WORTH IT!!
Totally worth it.
I have not stopped playing around with it now all i need is some battle droids. Black series needs to get on top of that
Yeah, the SHF are nice but too expensive to army build, and the models are meant to ride the STAP. Black Series would hit that sweet spot.
The Fwoosh preach it man i think if black series started to focus on the prequels with all the jedi and droids theyd make a killing
A fine addition to Robo's collection.
Finally I found a General Grevious figure that's worth the price on Amazon that's worth it in It's size and details to it especially his arms that split in half...
Thank you for making this video...
No problem, glad I could help!
1:08 Don't you mean...
"Another addition to my collection."
I really, really wish I had thought of that, haha.
I finally received it from Japan and assembled it! Thanks for the tips and review was spot on, it’s a beautiful figure!
It's one of my favorite kits, right behind the OT Stormtrooper!
Yes yes yes, this is everything I could ever hope for (in terms of model kits). At first I thought there might've been loose joints, like with the battle droid, but that doesn't seem to be the case.Great review Robo!, mine should arrive in the coming week, can't wait to finally add him to my collection
Not a loose joint one, except a little in the neck when you pull it up for more range. It's kind of amazing, actually.
ah, good to hear, makes me even more excited!
Great job on the review, you captured all the stuff that blew me away that I've been trying to explain! First model kit with an action feature, that feature, standing!! All so very happy at how the model ending up, Great review
Me: (sees figure) Hello There.
Grievous: General Collector!!
Great build. I was debating whether or not I should buy this one. After seeing your build, I'm definitely in!
Wow. Fwoosh tells you everything about the figure and how to fix a problem if there is a problem.. I mean for people who are obsessed with figures... how can you not subscribe to this guy?

Haha, yeah, I couldn't help myself, had to see how it was.
Robo, you are the king! Just because of this you'll be one of my next drawings.
Thanks for this review!
Whoa, that would be awesome, honored! I definitely want to see that!
As soon as I upload it I'll let you know. :)
Spectacular. Can't wait to get mine!

Wow he looks fantastic. Great review man. Glad to see he turned out so great
Thx for the video. Now I will hopefully not run in any trouble when I built mine. I cannot wait for it to arrive! Looks great
Kris S. Bro , help , does the armor armor and shit need glue to stay there or are the pegs strong
Wow the eye part is double injection molded nice
That's what it's called! I absolutely could not remember when I was shooting.
Finally bought the black series Grievous. The Hasbro cape and sabers look great on the Bandai Kit! Great for people who don’t want to go third party. Still, can’t wait for the CJEISM cape to compare.
HAHA!! Love that you're using the Mezco Deadpool flight stand as the instruction holder!
That thing is amazing, I'm using it everywhere, haha!
The Fwoosh haha that is awesome!
wow, another great review of an awesome bandai kit, I just have to get my hands on this kit.
Look amazing! I just ordered from Amazon just after watching this!
Came back to tell you two things
1-. THANK YOU!
2-. Wow what a QC nightmare would be a Mafex Grievous would be!
Haha, I'm trying to imagine that but I can't. It's too horrible.
I hope the model kit will be available in Austria soon
That came out great! Now I want one....
You need one!
Glad they include soft goods with this Plamol Kit. I like soft goods.
This review was such a nice surprise. Didn't think it'd be out so soon. I am happy it seems that the hype was real! I can't wait to get mine. lol now I should actually order it 🤔😅Awesome as always, Robo!
Yeah, after getting it all I could think about was putting it together, I gave in at 10PM. Bad idea, haha.
Way better than whatever Hasbro can come up with.
i got one one these today in the mail...literally because i seen this video an thought it looked so cool first model ever ,let's see how it goes
Damn you Robo. Now I've gone a bought one... can't wait! Will definitely get the ableitung 502 oils onto this guy to weather!
Do they have a lighter tan, just off the base color here to give it a bone type look?
The Fwoosh I'm sure they do? Perhaps I'll give it s full respray.
Reminds me of the skeletons in the gundam model kits. Lots of clever engineering in those, and even full sculpted detail. Almost feels wrong when you have to cover all of it with the outer layer.
Yeah, it's crazy to me to go that intricate and then stick under all this other intricate stuff. Insane. But awesome.
If you guys are looking for tips on building the figure you can always use nail clippers they worked so well when I built my Bandai grievous and I’m just 11 years old none of the pieces even broke
Awesome kit brother!!! Thanks for the review

Yeah me too! I ordered 2 of them. I wasn’t aware of the two pack or I would’ve got 1 and 1 instead.
Looks awesome! I ordered mine today and I can't wait. I'll definitely paint it, but it's going to be great!
That's a nice kit. I did the R2 & 3PO kits based on your reviews and they were fun. This one looks a bit complex for me.
Damn, this certainly will make a fine addition to my collection!
Ahhh....General Kenobi. How nice of you to drop by.

I have the model Luke and these things are pretty awesome

As always .. great review!
Thank you!
Good job on the reviews Robo, you respond to every comment, you make good reviews, Take some break if you need, haha, you've done great.
Haha, I've been taking a little more time between videos lately, and I'm about to head out for two weeks to a couple of cons. Breaks are definitely good. And thanks, I appreciate the kind words, really.
The Fwoosh Well, safe travelling, hope you find some figures worth collecting, Robo.
Oh, always, much to the infinite sadness of my wallet, haha.

The Fwoosh, 2017
Just ordered mine for $45! I’m hyped to get it!
Love the way it looks
Yeah I snipped them all but sometimes they leave just a little stub that needs hit with the blade. I’ll have to look over the pamphlet a little more thoroughly then.
I was going to buy the black series Grievous first but now I am definitely going to buy this one. I dont really care If i have to build it
You know, all Bandai model plastic is polystyrene, so if you buy a bottle of Tamiya Ultra-Thin Plastic Cement, you can easily apply it to the finicky parts that pop off so that they never do so again!
The stuff works better than any glue since it dissolves and welds the plastic parts together on contact, thus making a better, more long-lasting bond.
You know what's sad? I have a bottle of that under the desk. Never even dawned on me to put some on this, haha.
Oh, well at least you're prepared! As long as you're careful, I'm sure you won't regret any application!
Yes, Yes, YESSSSS!!!' Thanks for reviewing this. Loaded up and I'm watching it!
You missed an opportunity to say that this will be a fine addition to your collection
Looks awesome!
😂 it's entertaining watching a non kit builder build a kit. Try a PG or RG 1/100 any Gundam. You did a great job robo! Great vid!
Do you think black series will put out a grievous?
P.s.s. Maybe if you found some kind of thin microfiber cloth red and black and sewed them together you could glue them under the cloak shoulders!!
Black Series has hinted at a Grievous, with an actual listing popping up on a European toy store a few years ago, but nothing since. Seems they steer clear of the prequels for the most part. And hey, I never claimed to be an expert, haha!
The Fwoosh hmmm that's interesting. Thanks for the info!
Larklan i hope they do
I just bought this on ebay today cant wait to get it !!
