I would love a series that starts after Anakin is picked up on Mustafar. Highlighting on his psychological collapse into darkness. He didn't just become an extremely powerful force user, and skilled saber duelist. I want to see how he developed those skills and how made those certain changes through his breakdown, and his attempt at redemption.
Both statements are true in this thread however what people do not know about Darth Vader is that he incorporates form three and form two in his lightsaber form and how he uses the form three blocks instead of going above his shoulders he moves his lightsaber in a circle which will allow him to immediately set up for two or five or from one or form six or seven when Anakin Skywalker applies himself it is amazing on the things he come up with
I think it's not really mentioned but it's likely that Anakin's strong force ability was what made the giant mechanical suit work at all. He was able to leverage the cybernetics in a way that no one else would have been able to. So he had the strength of a powered robot designed to kill Jedi. He didn't have to be the fastest or best dualist. He just had to use his force ability to slow down an opponent long enough to cut through them with brute force.
Well, even with soresu obi wan barely beat anakin despite the fact that anakin made several mistakes throughout the duel, he fought considerably well, hitting obi wan's defenses and forcing him to retreat, besides taking into account that in multiple moments, Anakin bypassed Obi Wan's defenses, kicking or even punching him, brushing aside Obi Wan's sword to inflict multiple blows, and not if Anakin was mad and unfocused, Obi Wa. had it easier to block and deflect the rain of blows
I never saw anyone target Vader's life support on his chest, that was really smart, also Vader was slowly getting annoyed, angry, and sluggish, and his emotions towards Kenobi, which the negotiator capitalized.
The thinks is going against vader support NEVER has stopped him because the dark side keeps he alive and more enraged and powerful. The one in obiwan series is kot vader but Kylo-ren cosplayed. He's pathetic
@@lordsnake1988 He pulled a ship out of the sky while it was full speed high tailing away. He was a tank in Kenobi. I just don't think he has the mental capacity to keep his cool around Obi-Wan
@@lordsnake1988 Imagine having to fight the guy who permanently crippled you, left you to burn alive and in your eyes ruined your entire life. Nobody could do that without losing their shit.
His anger towards obi wan specifically made him sloppy, the minute obi wan damaged his life support he had already won. Palpatine left that weak spot there on purpose.
Honestly the second part of the duel felt a bit... idk formulaic? Like you see it in cartoons alot where the hero gets defeated but has some kind of moment and comes back to easily destroy the villain. The end was admittedly pretty cool though.
He also wasn't protecting his life support system. He tried to be mobile like anakin when he should've play it more defensively and slowly push up like vader did with ahsoka.
that was highlighted in previous episodes though, e5 in particular - his need to win far exceeds his ability to. he may think he's not anakin anymore but he still is. Anakin acts like Vader is different person altogether but, deep down he still has the same weaknesses; which is why obiwan wins in each major duel that we are between the two (including the flashback duel)
@@Pandemia616 What do you expect dude? Star Wars has always been a rigid adherent to the Hero’s Journey, and besides that, you went in knowing neither of them could die there and that Vader still had to remember Obi Wan being the master the last time they met come Episode 4
Vader should have taken a slow defensive approach like he did on the Death Star and try to exhaust Obi wan by making him block heavy cybernetically enhanced strikes not savagely attack like a mad dog.
I hink Vader has a mental lock when it comes to Obi-Wan. On paper he should beat Obi but when they actually face off, it's almost as if he loses his confidence
It's because Obi-Wan knows anakin, his temperament, tendencies and how to counter them. I would say if Obi-Wan didn't know anakin and how to bait him he wouldn't have survived any of their encounters
It's Anikan fighting with Darth at least he showed up to tell obi wan it wasn't his fault and I believe everytime he loses is because anikan fighting Darth fighting obi
Your final point is one of the most important. Anyone who's ever had exposure to real combat will tell you outright that there is a considerable difference in the combat ability between someone who is fighting as a matter of course versus someone who is fighting with the bare intent to kill. Dominating a fight before it even starts by preventing the other party from reaching your level commitment to coming out on top is a considerable advantage.
it is. but when countered with a defensive style like obi wan. you basically save your energy and wait for the aggressive wastefully movement of other forms. to give you a chance to land a blow of serious damage.
You've just mentioned something I never even thought of or realised, very few had ever fought in actual one on one lightsaber duals with enemies before, whereas vadar fought dozens in their clone wars, that alone set him above the rest
Sounds like Vader learned from some of his mistakes on Mustafar since he adapted Soresu into his form. Realizing that a good defense is just as important as a good offense if not more.
I think an interesting video is how much Vader healed from his duel on mustafar. We always hear how damage he was but we never hear how much he healed up to the point of return of the Jedi. I think it would make for an interesting video.
he doesn't heal though, he is actually weaker on the dark side of the force than if he stayed in the light, arguably. the obi-wan show highlights a couple of times - even though he's technically more powerful than obi-wan - if he was able to focus and be more intelligent with his ability +/ power, he would be more deadly - obi-wan outsmarts and takes a victory every single major time against him (episode 3, the flashback duel, a new hope and episode 6 of this series (ironically both episode 6))
@@mrwusanski2095 huh? No. He’s stronger on the dark side. Nothing you said makes any sense. Yes that would be the case of Anakin reached his FULL POTENTIAL, but he didn’t. Darth Vader is stronger and greater than Anakin ever was

Darth Vaders terrifying arrival to his opponents making them tremble in fear is basically like Undertaker when he arrives, and the Gong hits and the lights go out, and his opponent has to stand in the ring and watch the show, as he comes walking slowly down to the ring, listening to his Theme music, whilst fog fills the arena and giant flame bursts surrounde him on both sides, it gives you goosebumps.
That’s exactly why the suit is like that , palp made it weak to electricity and to always make an akin suffer which makes him stronger this is all planned lol.
I might actually classify Vader's style as a personalized variant of Niman, with elements of Djem So, Makashi, and Soresu interspersed with telekinetic Force combat.
It's funny, I remember as a kid imagining something similar. A Jedi who has mastered all forms of lightsaber combat using Form VI as a "neutral" state that could instantly switch to a different form based on the situation. Instead of having no weaknesses and no strengths, he just has no weaknesses.
If Sun Tzu were jedi battle master, he’d greatly approve of Vader’s personalised form. Love the bit about using Dooku’s capacity to combat the initially “wild” quality of Anakin’s earlier Djem So as a ‘forge’ by which to temper the form in eliminating any over-extensions that Dooku (& by extension others) would look to exploit.
What amazed me most was his interest in appearing human with such an inhuman display. Despite his mechanical prosthesis, he never once tried to incorporate something to horrify further. Prime example: He fights so much single handed, imagine if (while holding him back blade to blade and using your all with two hands to hold back his one) he suddenly held up his opposite hand as his glove splits open to reveal a horrifying mechanical apparatus with blades, pincers, and saws whirring closer to your face! Or at a spur of the moment his wrist suddenly spun like Grievous, lol
Obi Wan is the best Jedi of all time. There were many instances to where Obi was referenced as " he's not just any jedi". I believe after this defeat from Obi Wan is when Vader totally retooled his bag of tricks, armor, patience, star fighter, and methods of lightsaber techniques. That lightsaber duel on episode 6 is already a top 3 duel in all of star wars. That duel told a story, it gave us another match up of the most popular characters in all of star wars. Not mention, Obi and Vader were the first to duel on screen. That was a treat.....and Obi Wan couldn't be any cooler . MTFBWY
On Mustafar, Obi-Wan only managed to "defeat" Anakin because he successfully baited him into a disadvantageous situation - playing to Anakin's blind ego caused by his unfamiliarity with the dark side (buying into his own hype). In the Kenobi show, Obi-Wan flat-out defeats Vader and could easily have killed him. It's nonsensical that he would choose not to deliver a mercy killing and save the galaxy from the future atrocities that Vader will likely commit. Vader even gave Obi-Wan an easy out by telling him that "Anakin" had already been killed and that only "Vader" remained.

Can't take credit from Kenobi. He was highly experienced and THE master of soresu on top of a practitioner of other forms. He was weaker in the force compared to the top tier force users but he has the intangibles in his favor like experience, tenacity and bravery. If anyone could best Vader it would be Kenobi
He's also the only opponent that vader has past trauma and the only duelist besides ahsoka that he has a past connection to. And as we have conclusively found out with episode 6 of kenobi, vader just loses himself and throws duels when faced with his family or past. As Luke also shows us in rotj, where vader clearly just isn't in the head space to murder someone.
To get a sense of the style, we can refer to the weapon, and Vader's lightsaber is the most brutal design I've ever seen. I don't think any Jedi I've seen could wield that thing with even two hands. And Vader can, and does, wield that monster in one hand with the speed and precision necessary to deflect blasters. Imagine the power that monster lightsaber must put out; it could easily cut into a Star Destroyer hull. And this, I think, is the philosophy behind Vader's style as a duelist: decisive, overpowering heavy attacks that are designed to collapse enemies where they are strongest, through brute force, strength of will, and a retinue of force attacks designed to crush opponents, either directly with force chokes and force grips, or through the environment by propelling crushing objects towards the opponents.
Djem So relies on athletic ability, strength and durability of the one who uses this form. And Anakin was a perfect user; he was young, very athletic and had a strong Force connection, which is useful when boosting strength and speed. As an offensive technique, it was perfect for the Sith, since they rely on rage imbued offense. Plus Vader made numerous adjustments in his style, resulting in him probably being the best Djem so user ever. If his armor wasn't limiting his movements, I think prime Vader would be in top 5 duelists in the Entire Star Wars universe.
Was Vader not one of the top 5 duelists? If he could throw some Form IV into the mix I think he would be decisively number one. He could probably take on general grevious using just his lightsaber skills.
@@classarank7youtubeherokeyb63 Well, I meant in the entire Universe... Including the likes of Revan, Luke Skywalker, Yoda, Exar Kun and many other notable Jedi and Sith...
@@lukaz1034 Ah, that's a bit more reasonable. Still, even though I like to imagine Revan is capable of defeating Vader, it's not like it would be a certain victory. I think he still belongs in the highest echelons of lightsaber duelists.
I’m wondering did Obi-Wan ever truly tap into his full potential over the years. While he was extremely skilled and one of the best Jedi Masters ever in my opinion, on paper he never seemed like the most powerful as far as his connection to the force but he was extremely skilled and mastered has fighting style & that’s what got him out of a lot of tough situations but this fight with Vader seemed very different. He put the beat down on Vader which not many if any can say they have ever really landed a scratch on Vader. Obi wan went from literally running scared & barely able to save a little girl from falling off a building to being able to slam Darth Vader around like he was a rag doll. You can say what you want about Obi-Wan being a blindspot for Anakin and while that’s true Obi-wan is still beyond skilled & seemed to have tapped into the force like I’ve never seen. That was truly a badass moment. Obi-wan seemed to use Darth Vader’s fighting style against him & could have killed him for a second time & decided to spare his life once again. Darth Vader never really defeats his old master & I know that burned him up inside (no pun intended) until he came back to the light at the very end.
Also, Vader’s suit limits him, in comparison to his former self. So he’s not capable of double jumping or force rolling, but he’s still quite mobile. As shown in his fight with Ahsoka and Obiwan most recently.
The scary thing about the way he fights he that’s he’s well versed in other forms enough to hold hold his own until he tires you out, where he then hammers you with his signature form, which is at that point almost literally defenseless when your energy is waning. If he started with that form at the very beginning of the fight, most opponents would be ready for that and it would be an unnecessary waste of energy. Now it’s effectiveness on Obi Wans style is interesting, cuz it’s almost like Kenobi tailor made it to directly counter Anakin’s strategy. Play along when impenetrable defense and goad the opponent into thinking you’re done, so when they strike harder as Anakin eventually will, you quickly strike back leaving them stunned. So far in current canon, there are only three of the army of individuals who’ve been able to counter Vader’s technique, that being Obi Wan, and Ashoka and Luke, both of whom literally just used Vader’s own style against him, especially Luke in Return of the Jedi.
Say what one will about the new material, but one thing I am happy to say is that they are finally giving us the Vader we all knew and feared in our hearts as children.
Everybody forgets that /General Kenobi/ uses a mainly defensive form, form 3, often tiring out opponents and/or looking for openings. Kenobi also has more experience than most Jedi when it comes to fighting other force users. Darth Vader may be used to clapping Jedi who aren't confident against such an opponent, but Kenobi capitalizes on that to defeat Vader on at least two occasions. While Vader has an advantage of experience over other Jedi, Kenobi is more experienced in fighting combatants who are themselves experienced. Vader is essentially weak to Kenobi in the same way other Jedi are weak to Vader. Where other Jedi might be purely on the defensive against such a combatant, Kenobi is so used to fighting on the defensive that he is not overwhelmed by that task, allowing him enough clarity to find weaknesses, as fleeting as they may be, to use against Vader, such as brief moments to damage life support components. This is very similar, though not to the same extent, as Windu finding shatterpoints in his opponents. Side note if you haven't read Shatterpoint stop reading this comment and go read it. One of the best books written for Star Wars.
100 percent agree Can't take credit from Kenobi. He was highly experienced and THE master of soresu on top of a practitioner of other forms. He was weaker in the force compared to the top tier force users but he has the intangibles in his favor like experience, tenacity and bravery
Yet he loses every to everyone lol, vaders arc as a “powerful” sith is nonsense now. Humiliated and spared in a crippled way by obi wan twice, defeated by Luke again who spared him. The emporer used to ridicule him, even reva survived. Only victory we see Vader have is against younglings and everytime he loses there’s an excuse of oh it’s because this oh it’s because that
@@kauetadaieski3131 I don't think it was his form as much as the fact that he'd won before they'd drawn their weapons. Mentally kenobi is a huge mental hurdle for Vader and it would definitely mess with his power levels due to the conflict. Obi wan saw his weakness and then in turn went to an aggressive style
Pretty sure Anakin was focused on the Shien variant of Form V during Attack of the Clones, but by Revenge of the Sith used the Djem So variant, but incorporated Ataru foot work into his form. I don’t think he ever primarily used Ataru.
It's weird someone as gifted as Ani didn't make adjustments to his suit, or create a 2.0 suit in secret which he would train in to eventually surprise Palpatine with.
Vader destroyed Kenobi in episode 6 TV show. Then Anakin came back, weakening Vader as he thought he killed his best friend. Then a conflicted Anakin got defeated by Kenobi by hitting his control panel. imo
It makes one wonder what would have happened if Mace Windu trained Anakin in form 7 of Vaa'pad. Showing him how to control his emotions and retain them bottled up until they were *REQUIRED* to be used. Would Anakin turn to the dark side faster? Or would he have been able to stay a Jedi, even for just a little longer.
It’s a unique style that embodies his efforts to restructure his style around the limits of his body. In previous days his style was hyper aggressive and dexterous. Combining onrushing assault with high velocity approaches. Building from a familiar strength based foundation his style emphasises quality of motion, absent the speed and mobility of the past his focus is on leveraging his strength into a balance of brute aggression and stoic defence with comparatively minimal strikes per second. Every blow, parry and counter has to be as effective and strong as he can make it to compensate for his reduced mobility and striking speed. To that effort the economy of motion afforded by Form 2 helps bridge the passivity of Form 3 with the brutality of Form 5. Interestingly it’s almost in direct contrast to Grievous, an opponent he never fought yet held some similarities. Where Vader was forced to refine the quality of his motion through his degraded speed, every strike was either precise or it was devastating. Grievous instead ramped up on it. Every strike was dangerous but the danger really lay in how swiftly, dextrously and unexpectedly the next dozen attacks were in every second of engagement. Where Vader was measured by necessity, Grievous fought unfettered by necessity. Vader had the luxury (so to speak) of the Force to overwhelm and protect him, Grievous did not, forcing his enemy into utter defence to defend himself from his major disadvantage. You could almost call it reckless, yet it was perhaps the only correct option in head-to-head confrontation.
When Obi wan gave Vader his recent arse kicking it proves how much of the apprentice was still In Anakin even after burying Obi wan he still referred to him as Master. Only once Vader confessed to "destroying Anakin" he truly became Darth Vader.
Thats the reason that the imperial march was not used in the series until Vader speak with Palpatine. In that moment Anakin was fully consumed and Vader falls completely to the dark side.
We ain't gonna skip past the fact that my man did a thing with the thumbnail. Making us remember vader's first true lightsaber (and a good hint of future events aka asoka series)!
As a real life practitioner of both Eastern & Western martial arts, eventually long term you will see the “distilled” basics that all the dozens of different specialized styles are based on. The very basic techniques are renamed over and over in different languages but again are the same techniques. Master these and draw on your personal talents (whether Vader’s superhuman cybernetic strength, or Yoda’s centuries of practice) and you will be nigh unbeaten
Its kind of funny that form 2 would become such a massive corner stone of Vader's saber style given how much he despised Dooku. But I suppose in a sense Dooku was one of the best indirect teachers he ever had from all their fights during the clone wars, so it figures he'd take Form 2 and perfect it to a level that not even Dooku could rival, and then combine it into a hybrid form thus making even more perfect.
Shower thought here: Darth Vader and Batman are similar in the way that they use methods to make their opponent(s) feel insignificant and doubtful in their own abilities causing dread and fear to build thus making them more susceptible to defeat 🤔
I was gonna let it slide, but this vid was made a year ago, and the Mandalorian has been out for years. It's "jem so" not "duh-jem so", just like it isn't Din "Duh-jarin". Ty for coming to my ted talk.
Anakin was always emotional and let it control him throughout his life. I feel that it carried over to when he became Vader. Obi Wan won in the series but I think it was only because Vader wasn't thinking straight and again let his emotions get the best of him. I think the series only proves that if Vader is focused he'd destroy Obi.. And plus he's always had a good side in him for some reason...maybe he didn't want to kill his former master?
Absolutely agree. Vader would have won if he didn't let his personal connection to Obi take over. He became sloppy due to his feelings for revenge and frustration that obi wan was not going down easily.
@@kauetadaieski3131 what do you mean? Vader could’ve killed him in episode 3 and could have in episode 6 if he play into the ego of Anakin. It’s also proven in his fight with Luke when he loses, especially when Luke mentions the conflict before the battle. Proven more when Vader was switching between the Vader and anakin persona mid conversation with obi wan. If anything obi wan is a great fighter but he’s only alive because deep down Vader wants to die by his hand and he’s conflicted on wanting to kill him. Especially since everyone else he cared about is dead to his knowledge at this point. Only person he has is the emperor who started treating him like shit the moment the Jedi were all gone
The part about disorienting the opponent to forget their training. Palps used the force scream when the Jedi committed treason and windu was the only one who kept his wits. Perhaps palpatine rubbed some of that onto vader
While they didn't have a lot of Sith they dueled the Jedi did still practice against each other and while this wasn't a "to the death fight" at least in most cases. They did learn and maintain their Lightsaber fighting skills this way. Anakin's training duel against Obi Wan showed a good bit about this imo. It also showed just how strong Anakin was even when he was young his blows were devastating Obi Wan. Funny thing is I don't think he was very experienced with form 5 at that point either.
The heroes shield. That’s what Disney is. Kenobi should have never even touched Vader. Prime Vader would make a fool out of Kenobi in actuality. Kenobi doesn’t touch a light saber in 10 years and disconnects from the force. Then pops up like grandpa Joe going to Willy wonka’s choco factory and has impenetrable plot armor the last episode.
It's interesting. I'm still learning the distinction between his style as Anakin and as Vader. Vader's armor can make him unpredictable whereas Anakin could be exposed in his emotions.
One think that Lord Vader and Anakin shared is the way they could be beaten. Composed and emotionally neutral both were undefeatable in a lightsaber combat but their great mental and emotional weakness like hate and anger was the greatest.
@@gamepad3173 um.... Maul? (Obi-Wan essentially killed him twice) Grievous? And that's just to name two. You'd have thought Obi-Wan would have learned after the first time he left Anakin burning, not to assume he was beaten.
Vader’s suit sure made Vader less flexible, and it caused him major pain for all the time. It surely made Vader weaker if he didn’t burn on Mustafar. But even though, the pain that Vader felt, made him extremly powerfull. It made is connection to the dark site on like 99%. Also, he feels anger, hatred, itch (from synthetic skin, wich irritated him and made him even more angry for all the time), and additionally sadness (from Padme’s death). It all made Vader 10x more powerfull. And his suit gave him some advantages (more strenght, regulating body temperature, giving him supervision, and more). So, Vader was extremly powerfull, more powerfull than Anakin on the light side. Of course, if Vader didn’t loose on Mustafar, he would be more powerfull, but still, that guy was the greatest threat in the galaxy at the time (Palpatine was greater, but he didn’t fight when the Empire rose)
Vader is clearly much more powerful than Obi Wan but styles make fights and Obi Wan just knows him inside out. I think they could have wrote the script a it better however. It's one thing Obi Wan being able to out fox Vader but here he kind of overpowered him in the end which was weird
Yeah, especially with this kind of force feat even though he wasn't able to use it at all a few days earlier, and this kind of lightsaber moves which he haven't used at all for 10 years, and which dont even fit the soresu form. Their meeting was awesome though.

Darth Vader's fighting style is basically the style I would want to train in. I feel with both substyles of form 5, it covers you for most scenarios. I'm also a fan of form 3, but obviously the downside to it is, you're waiting for your opponent to make a mistake. I also really like form 2. But I don't like that it only works in a 1 on 1 lightsaber due.
Form 2 2ould teach you similarly to Form 3 to not waste energy plus teaching you precision and focus. Start with form 2 to learn how to truly handle a blade and then add in form 3. Once you have those two down, form 5 will be much easier to learn as it was form by form 3 masters incorporating aspects of form 2.
@@umitencho good point. For me, I feel form 5 covers most of your scenarios. If I had to choose between form 2 and form 3, I would choose form 3 to start with. Simply because it deals with blasters and multiple opponents. I think starting with form 2 is a bad idea, due to it only being good for 1 on 1 fights. And you would be more likely having to deal with blasters. I'm kind of in the middle using form 3 or form 5 and as the first style to begin with. But form 2 I would place as my third style, due to its limitations to 1 on 1 combat.
I have a problem with anyone that say vader could move his hands above head. are we just gonna forget how he lifted palpatine over his head and threw him .
As we saw in the Obi-Wan show (before they did a dumb scene where vader's skill was that of a youngling) Obi-Wan was barely able to do anything to him. Obi-wan completely focused on Vader would definitely put Vader into a actually trying mode since the two were renowned duelists, but the advantage Obi-Wan had in this fight was that he didn't doubt himself, He knew that the insults from Vaders style was just a trick and effort to lower his defense but he stood firm and believed himself.
I can't decide whether Darth Vader somehow still utilizing Ataru is a hilarious or _terrifying_ mental image. On one hand you have a guy who weighs as much as three droids and is as tall as a Wookiee cheating physics to kick your ass, but on the other hand I'm just picturing him going "Wheeeeee!"
im not sure how the cybernetics work in sw but i find it cool whenever i remember this guy basically doesnt even have hands but is duel wielding a lightsaber and the force better than most any jedi before or since
The Form 2, 3, 5 vader hybrid, t's the most robotic style form U can think of. It highlights the cyborg robotic nature of Vader too. Makashi cold robotic precision, soresu is close to body limited movement yet enegy efficient defence, which doesnt rely on wide flexible defence but limited movement like a machine would have, and makashi which is cold precise and accurate movement, also machine like, and then the raw power of djem so which exerts raw force that only a machine could exert beyond the human levels.
Sincerely, it's not that Vader created the ultimate lights aber form, but that he mostly thought wealins with a fraction of his combat experience. If he wer to go one to one with the likes of Yoda, Sidious or Windu, all of which mastered all lights aber forms and blended the on their own unique styles, he would be toasted, no matter how powerful onthe dark side he was, heck he couldn't beat Obi-Wan in his prime, who mastered a form so defensive that its greatest weakness was the lack of moves to finalize the opponent, Obi-Wan blended his Soresu mastery with his past training of Ataru to switch from defense to offense. Sidious' hybridized Juyo and Mace's own Vaapad, itself an hybridized form of Juyo, would tear Vader and o pieces.
So by blending forms 2, 3, and 5, he ended up with the perfect 10.
I'll see myself out now.

He didn't have to be the fastest or best dualist. He just had to use his force ability to slow down an opponent long enough to cut through them with brute force.
I agree.
It's not so simple. You should read the Vader novel. It took him a while to figure it out.

"Darth Vader's UNSTOPPABLE lightsaber form"
Obi Wan: I missed the part where that's my problem
Your comment deserves way more likes. So funny. 👍🤣
😂😂😂
That's because Obi wan Knows anakin and Darth Vader more than anyone else. Just look at the duel at Mustafar. You can see it in the fight.
I never saw anyone target Vader's life support on his chest, that was really smart, also Vader was slowly getting annoyed, angry, and sluggish, and his emotions towards Kenobi, which the negotiator capitalized.
Like he did with Grievious...

His anger gets the best of him when it comes to Obi-Wan

One way to become the best, is to systematically execute everyone else who could potentially challenge that title.
This expands to real life too. Fake martial arts VS trained MMA fighters who spar regularly.
Sounds like Vader learned from some of his mistakes on Mustafar since he adapted Soresu into his form. Realizing that a good defense is just as important as a good offense if not more.
But what's the difference? in his duel with obi wan, block every blow

I would say a personalized hybrid of Djem So and Makashi...no Soresu and alot of force combat
It's funny, I remember as a kid imagining something similar. A Jedi who has mastered all forms of lightsaber combat using Form VI as a "neutral" state that could instantly switch to a different form based on the situation. Instead of having no weaknesses and no strengths, he just has no weaknesses.
@@rexrockefella4586 it's literally stated soresu was included
If Sun Tzu were jedi battle master, he’d greatly approve of Vader’s personalised form. Love the bit about using Dooku’s capacity to combat the initially “wild” quality of Anakin’s earlier Djem So as a ‘forge’ by which to temper the form in eliminating any over-extensions that Dooku (& by extension others) would look to exploit.
What amazed me most was his interest in appearing human with such an inhuman display. Despite his mechanical prosthesis, he never once tried to incorporate something to horrify further. Prime example:
He fights so much single handed, imagine if (while holding him back blade to blade and using your all with two hands to hold back his one) he suddenly held up his opposite hand as his glove splits open to reveal a horrifying mechanical apparatus with blades, pincers, and saws whirring closer to your face! Or at a spur of the moment his wrist suddenly spun like Grievous, lol
Valid points. I wonder how much Vader refuses to relinquish all of the Honor of having been a knight
In the books Vader is described as a moving avalanche/mountain/wall of lightsaber strikes.

Wait, is his lightsaber stronger than normal?
Pong Krell could carry Vaders lightsaber, also starkiller took Vaders lightsaber and held it in his hands as a child
I would also think all his augmentations added to his strength
Empire strikes back Vader is top 3. His focus however always wanes when it comes to family
Was Vader not one of the top 5 duelists? If he could throw some Form IV into the mix I think he would be decisively number one. He could probably take on general grevious using just his lightsaber skills.

He was always very powerful. Legends he was weaker.
Also, Vader’s suit limits him, in comparison to his former self. So he’s not capable of double jumping or force rolling, but he’s still quite mobile. As shown in his fight with Ahsoka and Obiwan most recently.
Don't forget Reva in Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 5. Were he didn't have to use his light sabre. Yet evaded her every move.
Love the video. I just got into star war lore and I had no idea forms were a thing. Great breakdown

Chuck Norris Kenobi

Vader is basically the Mike Tyson of lightsaber combat. This checks out.

Well, Kenobi wants a word with that.

@@alanlockwood2107 Yeah it just takes away so much from Vaders overall presence and coolness. It's like in the past 10 years it's been Vader that hasn't trained and gave up on the force and ibi Wan that's been training
@@vinnizle Obi Wan tapped into his passion after getting the rocks thrown onto him. He thought of Leia and realized what he has to fight for. Using his aggressive feelings gave him a power boost. He tapped into passion with his initial fight with Maul. Obi Wan understands the allure of the dark side but has an unmatched strength of character to walk away from it.
@@Kyle-2020 Sorry, but that reasoning isn't enough for him to just overpower Vader like that.
Dun Möch is not a light sabre form. It is the use of perfectly thought out and patient strategy to achieve total victory. The Sith Grand Plan could be said to be the essence of Dun Möch.
"Even being able to lift his arms above his head"
The Emperor's clone: "I think you'll find his arms quite operational."
dun maak (did i spell that right?) would be one of my favourite tools of combat. any gamer knows that trash talk is a refined art and must be meticulously sculpted into the perfect weapon.
Form V with Elements of Form II and III because Vader knew how vulnerable he was. You can see this his duel with Luke in Episode V.
Yeah. Vader fought one handed.
We need a series about Vader hunting and killing Jedi
I have a problem with anyone that say vader could move his hands above head. are we just gonna forget how he lifted palpatine over his head and threw him .
vader is like an old school sith wearing intimidating armor that invokes fear
Makashi, soresu and Djem so. Those are my top 3 lightsaber forms.
im not sure how the cybernetics work in sw but i find it cool whenever i remember this guy basically doesnt even have hands but is duel wielding a lightsaber and the force better than most any jedi before or since
in battlefront 2 they did a good job of showing vaders lightsaber forms
The Form 2, 3, 5 vader hybrid, t's the most robotic style form U can think of. It highlights the cyborg robotic nature of Vader too. Makashi cold robotic precision, soresu is close to body limited movement yet enegy efficient defence, which doesnt rely on wide flexible defence but limited movement like a machine would have, and makashi which is cold precise and accurate movement, also machine like, and then the raw power of djem so which exerts raw force that only a machine could exert beyond the human levels.
"No one can kill a Jedi." Said the greatest Jedi Slayer of the Galaxy😂
I can see why Windu was taken out early. All the sith enfused techniques Vader used would be useless against him.
What techniques?
