The one thing that keeps me from having a Bronco Sport in my driveway is the tow capacity. Maxes out at 2200 lbs. You can get the Escape with the same engine rated at 3500 lbs. I don't intend on doing any serious off-road with one but it would be nice to tow the side by side (wolverine x2 xtr @ 1700lbs plus trailer weight). The Maverick you can get the 4K tow rating but in order to get the dual clutch rear locker like the Bronco Sport they force you to buy it in the Tremor package which then drops the Maverick down to 2k tow. Each model is so close to checking off all the boxes but not quite.

Great video. And what timing I’m thinking about buying a bronco sport Badland for my Dailey driver. It’s nice to know its capability even though the worst I’ll do is drive through my local mall parking lot.
The bronco would dominate a jeep with open diffs. But against a rubicon it would fall short. I’ve driven a Wrangler Rubicon, a Wrangler Sport, as well as a Gladiator Rubicon on 37s in Moab Utah and in the Nevada/California desert. I can tell you the difference between the Rubicons and Sport is vast. I plan on getting out to Moab this year with the Bronco and doing a matchup against my Raptor. Should be fun!
A base Wrangler of any year, with max-sized siped MTs aired down, bars disconnected, and cheap lunchbox lockers installed, could likely cruise all over this stuff without issue. It's that easy to make a base Wrangler of any generation a relative offroad beast.
Hey did you end up getting one? I am actually looking to do the same thing... Get a Bronco Sport and then get a 1.5-2" lift and get some slightly bigger rubber.
@@mrlilballer4life I actually bought a Wrangler. Got bigger tires and getting a lift soon. Definitely get that spacer lift. Look into a nice set of off road tires and you will be set. It will stand out for sure. Good luck!

You can take traction control off regularly, but if you hold down for the traction control off for like 10 seconds it will go into advanced traction control off mode. Truly removing it fully because it disable stability control as well, as far as I can tell on my own bronco sport
I know about the stabilitrak disable feature, but it doesn't help. We did extensive testing in the snow. There will be a video coming out soon talking about some of the things I dislike about the bronco sport, that is one of them!
Yes. Although they are not locking diffs in the traditional sense. It is more electronic and less mechanical. Call it what you will, the results are proof that the system is effective.
Are you aired down at all in this video? It looks like the tires are at full pressure but I know that in video's it can sometimes be deceiving. My wife has the Badlands and we'll be doing some lift/tires and such at some point. That's how I found my way to your videos. Thanks for the information.
Great video! Conquering the front side of Daniel is no easy feat. Next time you should try Dickey bell. It’s probably the second toughest trail at Uwharrie. I’ll be getting my Bronco early next year. I’d love to hit Uwharrie with you at some point.
I did Dickie bell that same day. It was actually much more difficult than I thought. Unfortunately I was down to one camera so the footage wasn’t all that exciting. I may throw bits and pieces into future videos. I go to URE quite a lot for testing. It would be cool to meet up! Contact me through Facebook or email me through the link in description.
Any plans on making a custom bumper to give you a bit better approach angle? I took mine out to Bulldog Canyon here in Phoenix and it made it the whole way! Some minor scrapes on the bottom but it never let me down. This was on stock height as well, looking forward to getting a lift and maybe a tad bigger sidewall.
It is unibody. Custom bumpers are super challenging and why no one is making any. You can see some custom ones in vids, but it is not a "bolt-up" type of situation and so not enough buyers willing to pay a ton of labor for that level of modification.
"Hello, how are you? I apologize as I don't speak English. I own a 2021 Bronco Sport, and I'm thinking about installing a 1.5-inch lift. I'm wondering if it will fit on the original wheels to use BFGoodrich All-Terrain 245/75R17 tires?
It has both center and rear locking diffs. The front uses torque vectoring which acts like a locker. If only one wheel has traction, it will pull. It’s pretty amazing really
This video means the Bronco Sport should be MORE then capable for anything I would ever do. I want to go off road but never really want to go rock climbing or go through bogs 2 feet deep.
No dice on any mode. We had the same issues with throttle disabling when trying to do donuts in the snow. No matter what mode, or pressing and holding traction control to disable stabilitrak, it still does it. We are working on a video that covers this. 👍🏼
I am not trying to 1 up this vehicle but rather bring attention for the new to offroading people how most computer controlled systems have let us down. I went up this in the rain with no spotter in my 98 dodge 1500 quad cab short bed stock height with factory rear limited slip and k02 tires 33 inch. I never had to stop or reposition. I put it in 4x4 low 1st gear ( automatic) and just drove up. So if you want to do these types of trails or you need dependable transportation deep into wilderness then get a vehicle with this old technology. Get these new vehicles for comfort and to get you the the store and back in the snow on pavement or dirt roads
Good to see the capabilities of the Bronco Sport but this is clearly not the terrain anyone should put the vehicle through if there is no real need. The damage repair bill is a big disincentive.
It has plenty of clearance. A bigger tire would fit with some trimming but honestly I’d rather not sacrifice the gearing. My Speedo is dead on with these tires too, according to a gps speedo app
This is the realest off road test I’ve seen for the Bronco Sport, great content👍🏼

Would like to see the competition between a Cherokee KL Trailhawk. Comparing the two on these trails.
I'd love if you could try it with the jeep renegade or compass trailhawk.. just for comparison
That place is nuts. Nice job.
I want to see a side beside comparison of the Bronco Sport Badlands VS a 4 door base Wrangler. I think the results might surprise some people. ;)
@@hrg_tv Where is that vid?
First real off road video ! great video!!
Is there a reason to do a coil over lift kit? I feel like the ride of the BS is horrible and a coil over lift could help it a lot.
Honestly I was completely against considering this vehicle. But I think with the proper tires and a slight lift It will look so much better
Good luck!
@@seadoo4life127 I actually have a 2004 Wrangler with a 3in lift and 33in tires right now! I absolutely love it, but with 144k miles on it, I don't want to risk continue using it as a daily driver. Which is why I am looking at the Bronco Sport as it is more practical, just need to make it look a little more rugged with a small lift and bigger tires.
@@mrlilballer4life so far it’s my favorite vehicle I’ve ever had. Anyway, make that Bronco stand out because nobody does. I would get the biggest tire and lift possible!
@@seadoo4life127 that's awesome to hear! Going from a bouncy, truly rugged, loud Wrangler... getting into a Bronco Sport will feel like a luxury class vehicle 😂 I am actually going to go and look at one today! But definitely want to do a little more research on the lift and tire possibilities!
Seems like bumper trims are needed for these things. I just got a Base today and plan to lift it and trim the bumper.
Nobody ever mentions the off-road screen that will give you all your angles. It’s awesome. What drive mode were you in?
It looks like I made the right choice what lift kit did you put on that great video bro
www.hrgoffroad.com/1-5-inch-38mm-lift-kit-for-2021-22-ford-bronco-sport/
Is it me, or does the Bronco Sport look like what a modern day LR Discovery should have looked like? 🤔
OMG!!! Crazier than me width my Bronco in Brazil!
Unbelievable. Is the Badlands the only trim with locking diffs?
I suspected this thing would perform better than many would expect. I kind of think it should have been named Bronco II.
Looks like some sort of damage under the driver side front wheel at the 9:49 mark
Did you have your traction control turned on when you got stopped by the mud bog (by the computer taking away your throttle)?
I put a lift kit and the largest tires that were approved by a dealer. It made a world of difference.
Is this bronco sport badlands with Sauqatch package???
That thing does not even have a true 4 low right?
What goat mode settings do you use?
There is a HUGE difference between AWD and 4WD. I have never gotten stuck with a 4WD but have a few times with AWD
You can gain more flex just disconect the fron sway bars. In the bronco is easy you can put links like a jeep.
You going to slap 2.5" lift on it?
Does this have the locking rear diff, if so was it used for any of this?
It has both center and rear locking diffs. The front uses torque vectoring which acts like a locker. If only one wheel has traction, it will pull. It’s pretty amazing really
This video means the Bronco Sport should be MORE then capable for anything I would ever do. I want to go off road but never really want to go rock climbing or go through bogs 2 feet deep.
Sport mode for the mud bog ?
Is the 2.5” lift kit compatible with the Bronco Sport Base?
Good to see the capabilities of the Bronco Sport but this is clearly not the terrain anyone should put the vehicle through if there is no real need. The damage repair bill is a big disincentive.
How much tire clearance do you have at full lock and full articulation and have you tried a larger diameter tire, like a 245/75/16 or a 245?70/17?
It has plenty of clearance. A bigger tire would fit with some trimming but honestly I’d rather not sacrifice the gearing. My Speedo is dead on with these tires too, according to a gps speedo app
I'm surprised how darn great it did
I really feel like this thing has probably the exact same software as the big Bronco
