I like that Bronco Sport, but wow, $46K? I also love that they’re building a top-of-the-line model that looks like it’s a base-model. Maybe I can increase the value of my Ranger XL just by painting my steelies white…
Ya 46k is high. And I have to agree with you on the wheels. Like really ford thats what you came up with. I was in Jeeps website the other day building one and even they didnt have much of choice on wheels either. Seems to be a area where they are all cutting costs. But we arent saving anything.
You're not going to find a new Bronco Sport Badlands for $37k. A used one, maybe, but a new one goes for $40k plus. Honestly, the best Bang for your buck is to go for a Big Bend and put larger A/T tires on it. If you want, a lift. You'll have better tires and more ground clearance, and you'll spend $8k to $10k less.
@@theaveragewoodsman6002 I got lucky and got a badlands in February for just $270 over MSRP (Less than including my trade). I'm not sure how in the world that happened but I'm not complaining at all lol. But I agree. A big bend or outer banks if you don't want/need all of the fancy off road features or added HP/Torque is more than enough for most people
Me too! But the Mrs wanted this Bronco Sport limited in Yellowstone. I have to say, owning it now, it has a certain appeal and nostalgic attitude. And it drives like a dream.
This makes me miss my '09 Escape Hybrid AWD. Ford nailed it with the original Escapes (up to '12), and the traction control even back then was fantastic offroad. The only offroad limitation on mine was the limited torque from a stop. I'd still have it if not for an uninsured, unlicensed driver who never paid up.
My dad was a gm at a ford dealership bought one of the first original Escapes in 01 that very first generation was absolutely solid, you could run them hard and they just kept going.
That makes the $50K ($50,263) Jeep Gladiator Rubicon I got 2 years back pretty cheap in comparison (for what you get vs. a Jeep Compass) -- I think I'll keep it...and pass on a new $46K Compass. Hope that's understandable... ;-) -- BR
Another test that would be interesting is the Escape vs. Bronco Sport. They are based on the same platform, so I wonder how much difference the programming on the Bronco Sport makes. I agree they should bring the Bronco Sport to the UK. We get the Escape (called the Kuga) but I think the Bronco Sport could do well too.
Bronco sport is mexican garbage. What happens if you don't pay your workers enough and let them build the engine.. at least toyota hands the mexicans a pre built engine......
I had a bronco sport badlands and my mom has an escape that I drive occasionally in addition to the escape I owned in the past. They are not really all that similar at all. People always compare them but then balk when its said that the big bronco is based off the ranger platform and they are not anywhere near the same either. The escape and sport are more different than they are alike despite the fact that people who have never owned or drove either one like to say otherwise.
I appreciate you defending traction control. Sure there are times to turn it off when off-road. But, as you say, there are many times where having it on is better. As with most things off-road, different conditions require different methods. That's part of the fun of driving off-road, experimenting to see what works best.
It peaked with the 2nd gen Quadra Drive and Gerotor lockers. The tech and air suspension doesn't fully make up for solid axles at both ends and the best auto lockers ever made.
I’d also love to see this. Giving up my 05 Grand Cherokee tomorrow for the Bronco sport is kinda killing me. An 05 and it’s more advanced than some brand new SUVs
46k for those is nuts. I bought a Cherokee Trailhawk in 2015 for 31k and it would've blown both of these out of the water off road, but being a typical Jeep product I traded it in before the powertrain warranty expired. The Bronco Sport would be on a par with the Cherokee TH if it had a real low range (the Cherokee had a real 2.56:1 low range and a real locker out back)
@@DNHarris Nah, the Cherokee Trailhawk has a real low range and rear locker, and is in the same class as the Bronco Sport and can be had under 40k without too much trouble, though is soon to be discontinued pending a redesign
Trouble is, you have to spend to get away from the 1.5 3-cylinder, a gutless engine that deliver slow speed, sub-par mpg, and sounds like a John Deere tractor. The 2.0 is only available with Heritage Limited Edition or Badlands trims. From my test drives, none of the Bronco Sports are really much fun to be in. And for this trim level, the price exceeds what it offers.
I wouldn’t pay 46 grand for either one of them but the Compass is a better looking vehicle in my opinion. We’ve had a Cherokee KL trail hawk in the past and that was one of my favorite vehicles I’ve ever owned.
Wow, $46,000 for that Heritage Edition? I just traded my 2021 Big Bend in for the 2023 Badlands and paid $36,000. The Badlands listed for $40,000, but the dealer gave me $2000 more than I owed on the trade-in, another thousand off on the price of the Badlands because they were running a special, and another thousand because this was my third vehicle purchased from that dealership. Mine doesn't have leather seats, but it's the same truck. I love it. It's got plenty of power, is nice to look at, and handles the trails with ease.
Just bought a 2021 Bronco Sport Badlands Edition with 55K in great condition for about 30K. Happy to give up 55K of mainly highway miles from the prior owner, in order to save about 16K on the price of a new one.
I think the issue at hand here is the fact that the auto mode in the Compass behaves like an actual auto mode, while the auto mode in the Bronco is much more aggressively tuned than necessary. This discrepancy makes the the Compass "appear" worse and puts much more emphasis on choosing the correct drive program. The tuning of the Bronco makes the GOAT modes seem less significant.
But when he pitted the best modes vs the best modes, the bronco seemed to be easier to modulate the speed, spun less tires, and didn’t sound as annoying with the traction control system engaging.
@@dmegahanbut who’s to say rock is the right mode for the Jeep in that situation. He just guessed. If this were a rock test, maybe. but I think the dirt mud setting for both would have been a better comparison for this terrain. This is Jeeps dna.
If you understand traction control or 4wd systems you will know that rock mode locks up the wheels the most aggressively and so it won't matter what terrain it is used on . All other modes allow more wheel slip. The advantage of going to a less aggressively tuned mode is to prevent sideways movement in loose or slippery terrain. The Broncos system simply is proving to be a lot better here at keeping 4 wheels providing power when needed.
@@Natethegreat200c Read what @Falcon-mc5fs said, it's basically what I was gonna say, it really won't matter in this comparison when it comes to the rock mode as most other modes would allow way more slippage which was what he wanted to avoid, which btw, mud and ruts modes in Fords are known for allowing a little slip to clean off the tires of mud or ruts that get stuck on it, so yes, rock is the correct mode, or maybe sand can allow for less slip too.
@@Natethegreat200c Agreed. Rock mode on my Cherokee Trailhawk is underwhelming. Snow mode gives the best traction in any circumstances and is the closest to a traditional mechanical 4x4 transfer case.
I have an Escape with the 3 cylinder engine and AWD (less than $30K new). I feel like it is a price hack for its capabilities. Would love to see how it does on this... but I am in California.
I'm a bit surprised by the Bronco Sport. My work purchased one for off road access and I've had it with one wheel in the air a few times. Going up a steep hill, a Tacoma that went up before me was spinning tires. The Bronco Sport made it up the hill with hardly any effort. If they didn't make it so low to the ground, it could be a decent SUV. My work one only has two GOAT modes.
You know they could put a little more aggressive tires on them instead of those cheap basicly street tires. I which I could put a more aggressive tires on my 2018 ECO SPORT! It’s fun to drive but I haven’t had a chance to drive it in a good amount of snow yet. For really screwed up by not offering a few more options such as a turbo 2.0 in it. $47,000 is a little expensive for the Bronco sport an Jeep Cherokee.
Bronco Sport all the way! I was there last September and mt Big Bend way outperformed that Jeep Compass and the Big Bend was $36,000 and does not have the lockers etc.
Cherokee Trailhawk blows both of these away, or really anything else in the class because it has a real low range and real locker. At least until Jeep "reliability" strikes, but the Compass will have the same problem.
I’m still trying to wrap my head around the price of these tiny crossovers when there’s a 2021 Lexus GX for the exact same price at a local dealership.
A couple years ago Lexus SUVs were nearly all in the 70-80k region, which made the bronco sport a steal Edit: at least in my area those were the prices
I had a 2018 Compass Latitude 4x4 and really enjoyed it. My only complaint was the Tigershark engine - which they’ve thankfully resolved that issue. It was great in the snow and on the backroads. But I didn’t pay anywhere near $46k for it! Sheesh! It was like $29k with green paint and black roof. Nice little SUV for about $30,000.
In Iowa at this moment you can get a fairly well loaded 2023 Jeep Compass for $34,000. In Iowa City the most expensive one I have seen on a lot is $42K. Not sure who...or where you are paying $46K?
I owned a 2015 Jeep Cherokee Sport which was, in my opinion, an abandoned vehicle by Jeep. It was recalled early for a defective catalytic converter and only after 7-years did it receive the work order ... after I sold it. I decided to cut my investment short and bought a fully loaded Bronco. I am Happy
I got a backup semi beater 95 Explorer.... bulletproof long lasting high torque 4.0 ohv... LOW range 4WD with L.S. rear....got it for $1,200 and put around $600 in minor repairs / maintenance done almost all on my own. I can rip up hills and not worry / care about scuffing up paint and if I break something major I already got more than my investment out of it....and even then I would likely get some cheap after market parts off ebay and repair that for dirt cheap.
I have a ‘22 Compass Product (Red). It’s quite slower than any other vehicle I’ve owned in a long time, but it’s not that bad. I got over 30 MPG on a recent trip from Gettysburg to my house at the beach in Delaware. Admittedly it’s downhill most of the way through Maryland. I love this car. One of my favorite “daily driver” cars by far. I can control most in-car functions by simply saying things like “hey Jeep, find the nearest McDonalds” or “set the driver temperature to 68”. Etc. And with wireless Apple CarPlay I simply ask Siri to make calls or send messages or play my playlists. And the adaptive cruise control is so awesome. And IMO it looks infinitely better than the Bronco sport. And since this is a 22, my fully loaded Product (Red) Compass was about $35K I’ve owned 85 cars. 5 Vipers, 5 Vettes, a Prowler, Challenger SRT, Grand Cherokee SRT, Etc. But for a little daily driver that uses regular gas, and has all these features, this is at the top of the daily driver list.
I was considering both of these for my GF. But the prices were too much to swallow for a 3rd vehicle. We ended up getting her a 2019 Cherokee Limited with AD1 and the 2.0 turbo. Bonus, with the rear seat folded down we can both sleep in the back.
i think the main gripe ppl have with traction control, is so often we simply don't have a choice to engage it, disengage it, or alter how it behaves. sometimes ur simply not gonna go anywhere with out some wheel speed. and with some traction control implementations, that's something you're not going to get.
Interesting comparison and nice job Ford. One comment is that you should compare current market price compared to MSRP. Ford is selling over MSRP for that model and Jeep is about 10% less. It does make a difference to the “average” buyer.
The Compass Trailhawk is amazing offroad. Way better than expected. Not quite as good as my Cherokee Trailhawk, because of less power, but it's amazingly capable for it's class. I love them both.
I'm actually looking into getting a new car this year. Currently the only solid contender is the Bronco Sport Badlands (with the upgraded off road system). I'm waiting on some more info on the new Tacoma to see if I should do that instead, but right now I've been super impressed with the Bronco Sport with not just it's offroad capability, but overall a great vehicle. Good mileage, AMAZING safety, good look, haven't heard any serious issues (unlike the bigger Bronco), love the analog speedometer still existing, simple clean designed interior.
You'll be happy with either one. My vote is also on the Bronco, it's a little bigger than my Renegade but I absolutely love how easy it is to drive and park my Renegade, and how it's equally at home on forest service roads or in the city. As a guy who lives smack dab in between a major city and a large national forest it's a perfect fit. The Bronco Sport is only a little longer so I imagine it's quite similar in feel, though I have no experience driving one.
I test drove the Bronco Sport when it came out. I really liked it. It reminded me of the Discovery II with the seating position and many other features, except it cranked when I turned the key, didn’t rattle, and didn’t leak oil so it wasn’t exactly like a Disco 2. But was too small. I bought a Trail Boss instead and have never been happier with my decision.
I just picked up a loaded Outerbanks for way less, and am very impressed with traction/ drive ability- compared in day to day I drove home the Bronco Sport vs the Jeep…not having a/c ventilation in the Bronco Sport seats is weird and Jeep has - the only negative so far…20-29 mpg avg depending on driving - much better than my RAM 5.7!
2023 loaded Outerbanks is going for 41K now. Not way less but better than 46k. I was lucky and got mine in 2022 before the inflated price and increase of the moonroof, painted black roof and 360+ assist. Mine was 37k loaded.
I’d definitely choose the bronco sport. The Compass isnt worth buying at any price; it’s just a fiat with a different body. It would be cool if the Bronco sport badlands came with solid axles.
my issue when someone says that a ford has a "nice" or "better" interior, what they actually mean is it looks nicer but when you touch it, it feel like cheap hard plastic I can snap off by touching it too hard.
I just brought a new laser blue 2023 jeep compass trailhawk fully loaded for 39000 because jeep has compass on sale till july 2023. Was also looking at the bronco sport badlands, but had trouble finding one in the color I wanted and would have has to pay at least 47000 for it. So I'm super happy with my trailhawk compass and can't wait to test it on easy to mod trails.
Why do you say "tiny" like it's a negative? I love small 4X4's the big ones get stuck between the trees. All else being the same, I'd pay more for a small 4X4 than a big one.
I have a 2021 Badlands BS. I can tell you, I have had it in situations where people said I couldn’t. I have seen this in action where I saw jeeps spinning, and it walked right through. The biggest limitation I have run into is my 10.25in clearance, and lack of mud section armor (which I plan to fix the armor situation eventually). I have a 1.25in lift over factory. Overall, I haven’t had to turn back from anywhere I wanted to go so far. Could I go where the big 32in guys go vertical? Nope. Do I want to? Nope. Not right now.
Holly cow! I paid less for my wife's 2 door 2023 Bronco Basesquatch with the V6 and a few extra options... In Ford, "Heritage"=ton of money for some white paint...
Exactly! A base Bronco Sport BL is about $36,000. I don't know how Jeep expects the Compass Trailhawk to remain competitive vs ford or Subaru at such a steep price.
The Bronco Sport: 1. Is far more comfortable on regular roads. 2. Has 4 doors, so it is easier to take more than one additional person around. Also, it is far less cumbersome to make a trip to CostCo and pick up mega packs TP/PT as well as giant jar of mixed nuts, a 32 pack flavored bubbly water, two dozen roses and a 27" computer monitor. 3. Is more fuel efficient. I have a 2021 Bronco Base 2-door that cost me $30,555 new, but I can see the value of a Bronco Sport.
We have a 2019 Compass. It has just over 40000km. We have had to replace the stop start battery over 400$ front brakes. It has had a anti freeze leak from day one normally shows up when the temp hits -20 but onecan smell it when hot. It has a noise in the rear which sounds like a old truck..dealer said it's normal.
I wonder how the outgoing Cherokee compares? IIRC the Compass doesn’t have anywhere near the motor that the Cherokee has. Is the 4WD system any better?
The Trail Hawk Cherokee 4x system is a little better with lockers front and rear. The Compass is basically AI AWD brake controlled bullshit. My daughter has a 2021 Compass trail hawk and its not that great in any area and it was way over priced for a Fiat.
Buy the Compass in 2 years, gently used for $20K less then its a decent deal. I drove one for a couple of months and spent alot of time on trails, It did very well and was a nice daily driver. But definitely wouldn't buy one new for $46K
Yeah, the video is great but we also have to remember that the bronco sport competes in the size category of the (now discontinued) jeep cherokee. The compass may still be a compact crossover, but the category is not the same. Cherokee came in the trailhawk trim that offerrd lockable 4wd and lockable rear diff just as the bronco and that would actually be a fair comparisson (same size, same off road equipped options and a fairly similar price too). Too bad there are no more cherokees made
I suppose I'm too old school. Off-roading to me it's not driving across the front yard. This video was like, when Grandma does off road test. Video should have said comparing electronic traction control between two vehicles. When we say off-roading that's mud in the Headlights, are you need to roll the window up to keep the water from running in. We call these 7-Eleven trucks. Cz's parked at the 7-Eleven parking lot while they're riding with your buddies that has off-road trucks
That compass being 46k nearly caused me to spit out my coffee. We bought a loaded Cherokee Trailhawk in 2015 for 39k. (Not the Grand, just the little Cherokee.) So is a trailhawk Cherokee now 50+?? Truly shocked at these prices lol
Prices have gotten stupid in the past couple of years. I bought a pretty nice Wrangler in 2021 for 47k. Which I'm pretty sure would be 57k now for a similar package.
$46k for a trail hawk? That has a lot of options as u can get a almost base model trail hawk for $34k and still have good features. This one has probably every option. Not needed imo. I have a ‘24 compass altitude and it has everything I need for daily commute.
I had a 2013 escape and I drove through a blizzard and that little suv never let me down didn't slip or anything keepnin mind that was in southern California where I don't run winter tires lol I'm liter contemplating a bronco
I owned and offroaded a 2021 Bronco Sport Badlands before i traded for a used 2021 Black Diamond Sasquatch. I loved it very capable It never felt scary to offroad. People were very impressed how capable it was.
The Bronco Sport and Compass are in the same segment, which is compact SUVs. They’re literally exactly the same in dimensions and peak ground clearance. The Cherokee is also way more expensive than the Bronco Sport, so the Compass really is the Bronco Sport’s direct competitor.
The Cherokee is a compact whereas the Compass and Bronco Sport are subcompacts. The Cherokee also has a 4WD system that in operation more closely resembles that of a Wrangler or Bronco than a Compass or Bronco Sport.
For your comment at about 11 minutes, how the goat mods aren't that different from normal. I took my broncos sport through a really tough off-road course on the way there I stayed in rock crawl and on the way back I put it in normal and I did notice a little bit more slippage in normal than rock crawl. So at least for rock crawl. I feel like there is a difference
I dont know if you guys read my comment on a previous video, but thanks for making this comparison. Im sure there are a lot of people looking at both of these and needed aome honest testing to help make a choice.
could you do a Land Rover Discovery sport? it's MSRP starts at $48,000 and it would be interesting how the discovery compares against the Bronco sport and Compass trailhawk!
What would I buy ? I bought my used Cherokee Trailhawk for half that price. I think it would hang with the bronco sport and probably better. Cherokee Trailhawk is sort of between big Bronco and baby Bronco By the way , does the new Compass with the turbo get into a "brake bog" like the old one did ? Time to hit some of the TFL trails and see !
You mention the infotainment system, but I think you named them backwards. The Jeep should have a UConnect system, not SYNC as you mentioned verbally. (SYNC is Ford's brand name system.)
In America you do not have the Plug In version which I own this makes a hugh difference since the electronic motor in the back had max. torque at "0" speed you should make same test on the Grand Cherookee since you have the 4XE version available in America
Traction control sucks essentially you’re constantly trying to keep momentum in deep mud, deep snow and when you cut power you’re gonna get stuck. Even with it shut off it comes back on when the wheel speed factory Nanny setting is hit it cuts power and your stuck. Unless you know how to temporarily disable it then you got a real machine 😊
@@twotrackjack2260 Ohhh Thanks! I went by the thumbnail then had a conference call to deal with when the video started.🤣 I just assumed it was a Cherokee.
In my opinion a closer comparison tot he Bronco Sport would actually be the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, as the Bronco Sport is based off of the Ford Escape platform, and the Escape is much closer in size to the Cherokee. Plus, the Cherokee Trailhawk can come with a 3.2L v6 or 2.0L turbo i4 both making 270 HP, which is closer to the Bronco Sport's 250HP.
What's going to make EVs price competitive is not just that they're getting cheaper, but that gasoline cars are getting so expensive. $46,000 can buy you a lot of EV nowadays.
Yeah, at this point they are basically raising the price of the competition to justify the higher prices of EV cars and force customers to consider them more.
The big thing no reviewer brings up is Jeep offers rebates on the Compass that drop the price thousands less than the BS. And when it’s in “rock” mode it seemed to be about the same off road although I think the BS would ultimately perform better because you can “lock” the rear end but it does cost more for that and the more powerful engine. And the interior decision could go either way but to me it’s much nicer in the Compass.
Compass looks better,my daughter just bought a 2024 Compass TrailHawk Turbo..She had a 2021 Bronco Sport..I am a performance guy and the Bronco Sport was a dog,the Turbo Compass is far ahead of the Bronco Sport she had.. My draggy performance timer that I ran when I took my car to the track is pretty accurate! The Bronco sport did 8.98 in the 0-60 best of 3 runs, other two were mid 9 second runs..The Turbo Compass ran 7.02 best of 3 runs to 60 mph..slowest was 7.19 impressed, hell the 2.4 previous was a 9 second ride. She worked at Ford her first real job being 21,now elsewhere..Bronco Sport and Compass are great second vehicles or female cars..like any suv female soccer mom vehicles. The Bronco Sport was hit and always wore out the left rear tire, repaired by Ford but still screwed up,she ditched it..Jeep has 5k and she loves it...
I would think a better comparison would be the jeep Cherokee trailhawk. It has locking rear diff , like the bronco sport. Also has a 2 speed transfer case. In Canada the heritage only comes with a 1.5 l engine and no dual clutch diff. You need to move to the badlands model to get that. That puts it very close dollar wise to the Cherokee trailhawk. Much better comparison than the compass IMO.
Heritage and Heritage Limited are two different models. The standard Heritage is basically a fancy big bend, the Heritage limited is basically a fancy badlands
$46k for these two is absolutely insane. Crossovers like these used to be the "accessible" option
That's still below average new car price

Bronco sport is mexican garbage. What happens if you don't pay your workers enough and let them build the engine.. at least toyota hands the mexicans a pre built engine......
I had a bronco sport badlands and my mom has an escape that I drive occasionally in addition to the escape I owned in the past. They are not really all that similar at all. People always compare them but then balk when its said that the big bronco is based off the ranger platform and they are not anywhere near the same either. The escape and sport are more different than they are alike despite the fact that people who have never owned or drove either one like to say otherwise.
The Mitsubishi Evo X shared platform with the Dodge Journey. Shared platforms aren't as significant as many people make them out to be.
I appreciate you defending traction control. Sure there are times to turn it off when off-road. But, as you say, there are many times where having it on is better. As with most things off-road, different conditions require different methods. That's part of the fun of driving off-road, experimenting to see what works best.
I would love to see a video of all generations on Grand Cherokee. How they’ve improved (or not) over the years
It peaked with the 2nd gen Quadra Drive and Gerotor lockers.
The Bronco Sport would be on a par with the Cherokee TH if it had a real low range (the Cherokee had a real 2.56:1 low range and a real locker out back)
That's the thing. The Bronco Sport would have been $58k with a real low range and lockers.
I agree...The Bronco is butt ugly inside and out.
Agreed, 46K for a compact CUV is eye watering.
A comparison against a KL Trailhawk would seem more fitting with an actual low range and a rear locker.
Brand new Toyota 4runner TRD off Road for $45K Game over!
When performing the slip test, I think you should put a chalk mark on the tires so we can see revolutions.
You paid $30k for a 3 banger?! And you’re proud of that?! 🤡
You do a lot with the Trailhawk but I think it would be worth comparing the Cherokee Active Drive 1 vs Active Drive 2
Cherokee Trailhawk blows both of these away, or really anything else in the class because it has a real low range and real locker. At least until Jeep "reliability" strikes, but the Compass will have the same problem.
I’m still trying to wrap my head around the price of these tiny crossovers when there’s a 2021 Lexus GX for the exact same price at a local dealership.
the GX is the answer.
Don't participate and keep buying used cars.
A couple years ago Lexus SUVs were nearly all in the 70-80k region, which made the bronco sport a steal
Edit: at least in my area those were the prices
I had a 2018 Compass Latitude 4x4 and really enjoyed it. My only complaint was the Tigershark engine - which they’ve thankfully resolved that issue. It was great in the snow and on the backroads. But I didn’t pay anywhere near $46k for it! Sheesh! It was like $29k with green paint and black roof. Nice little SUV for about $30,000.
The Jeep gets it done OK, but that Ford is impressive!
On this baby test. Compare a real off road trail compass will kill the ford
@Nathaniel Rudolph not true the sport completed the moab trail stock.
I think the Jeep would do better if the tires were actual off road tires.
I am Happy
Why would Jeep put street tires on a off-road trim on the Compass?
I have a 2023 jeep Red and I have a turbo and it really goes good.
Love my 2023 Bronco Sport Badlands. Sticker was $40k but they had it for $38k.
I was considering both of these for my GF. But the prices were too much to swallow for a 3rd vehicle. We ended up getting her a 2019 Cherokee Limited with AD1 and the 2.0 turbo. Bonus, with the rear seat folded down we can both sleep in the back.
Love it. Enjoy it 🥰
i think the main gripe ppl have with traction control, is so often we simply don't have a choice to engage it, disengage it, or alter how it behaves. sometimes ur simply not gonna go anywhere with out some wheel speed. and with some traction control implementations, that's something you're not going to get.
Interesting comparison and nice job Ford. One comment is that you should compare current market price compared to MSRP. Ford is selling over MSRP for that model and Jeep is about 10% less. It does make a difference to the “average” buyer.
Tommy, you guys need to figure a way to test durability… that’d be a game changer in off-road testing.
Do the bronco sport
You'll be happy with either one. My vote is also on the Bronco, it's a little bigger than my Renegade but I absolutely love how easy it is to drive and park my Renegade, and how it's equally at home on forest service roads or in the city. As a guy who lives smack dab in between a major city and a large national forest it's a perfect fit. The Bronco Sport is only a little longer so I imagine it's quite similar in feel, though I have no experience driving one.
Bought mine exactly 2 months ago. I love it. Downgraded from an f150 for fuel savings.
Over 50,000 in Canada for my package. Wanna play you gotta pay
Go with the Bronco Sport. I have a Big Ben and based on this video mine would way outperform the more expensive Compass.
I guess I was expecting the Bronco Sport to be compared to the Cherokee, not the Compass
my issue when someone says that a ford has a "nice" or "better" interior, what they actually mean is it looks nicer but when you touch it, it feel like cheap hard plastic I can snap off by touching it too hard.
Numerical score for this test like you do for the Ike gantlet would be useful.
Who is spending $46k on these tiny cars?
Ppl spend more than that on small sports cars
Why do you say "tiny" like it's a negative? I love small 4X4's the big ones get stuck between the trees. All else being the same, I'd pay more for a small 4X4 than a big one.
@@andrewsnow7386 I like small cars, but not spending $46K on one. You can get a better vehicle for that price than either of these 2.
Lots of people are. Dealers can’t keep the Bronco Sports on their lots.
The Bronco Sport:
Put the Bronco Tires on the Jeep. They look wider and sidewall traction too.
I bought a laser blue 2023 compass latitude trim with all the bells and whistles for $38K and I love it!
Lol. I love how Tommy and Soyfen had the exact same take on bothering with GOAT mode versus just let the computer do it for you. Awesome.
Hey trying opening the doors on these vehicles while in full flex mode to see if there built well ??????
46k for these???? WTF
Tommy is a god nobody in the world can slip test so accurately
Hearing the prices of these stopped me in my tracks. Just based on looks these look like a 21-25k MSRP vehicles
We just bought a 2022 Compass latitude lux for 32k. And it has everything so I'm sure that's a inflated price to match broncos price. 😂
I wouldn't spend 46 grand for both.
Thanks for this.
Have y’all thought about comparing the 2023 and explore vs 2023 pilot
I would say the Cherokee compares more to a Bronco Sport than the Compass.
Cherokee is dead :/
The Bronco Sport and Compass are in the same segment, which is compact SUVs. They’re literally exactly the same in dimensions and peak ground clearance. The Cherokee is also way more expensive than the Bronco Sport, so the Compass really is the Bronco Sport’s direct competitor.
The Cherokee is a compact whereas the Compass and Bronco Sport are subcompacts. The Cherokee also has a 4WD system that in operation more closely resembles that of a Wrangler or Bronco than a Compass or Bronco Sport.
Yes Paladin 06, but the Cherokee is being discontinued after this year.
@@TFLcar I did not hear about that. I like the Cherokee over the Compass.
I'll never understand why people spend over $40k on an economy car...
what does it say about Tommy's driving style that he seems to always be "driving up on snowy curbs?"
What's the reliability of a Jeep compass? What are the common issues?
I think it’s ok, not great. Both are way overpriced though
46 grand!??! Lol remember when you could get full spec rubicon for that price. Jeez
Wow. That is the “trail hawk” version and the bronco sport made it look silly.
What would I buy ? I bought my used Cherokee Trailhawk for half that price. I think it would hang with the bronco sport and probably better.
Cherokee Trailhawk is sort of between big Bronco and baby Bronco
By the way , does the new Compass with the turbo get into a "brake bog" like the old one did ?
Time to hit some of the TFL trails and see !
Good move. I would do same if could find one
$46K?!!! 'sound of needle scratching across a record'.
You cant engage 1st gear manually on the Jeep. What you think is 1st gear is really 2nd gear. The granny gear is only for the low mode
Cherokee is a 4x4, with a transfer case and locking diffs. It definitely wins lol
Alas, no cherokee to be seen here. Only compass and bronco sport.
@@twotrackjack2260 Ohhh Thanks! I went by the thumbnail then had a conference call to deal with when the video started.🤣
I just assumed it was a Cherokee.
I just bought a bronco big bend sport I love it
In my opinion a closer comparison tot he Bronco Sport would actually be the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, as the Bronco Sport is based off of the Ford Escape platform, and the Escape is much closer in size to the Cherokee. Plus, the Cherokee Trailhawk can come with a 3.2L v6 or 2.0L turbo i4 both making 270 HP, which is closer to the Bronco Sport's 250HP.
That Heritage Edition Bronco is so beautiful.
This is a top of the line model tho. What does a top of the line EV cost?
The big thing no reviewer brings up is Jeep offers rebates on the Compass that drop the price thousands less than the BS. And when it’s in “rock” mode it seemed to be about the same off road although I think the BS would ultimately perform better because you can “lock” the rear end but it does cost more for that and the more powerful engine. And the interior decision could go either way but to me it’s much nicer in the Compass.
Outrageous 46 grand for a jeep compass I'd rather buy a used 2020 grand Cherokee trailhawk for a little less
Why are the back tires of the jeep not centered in the wheel well? Shit looks like the axle got jammed forward
Curious: Does the Bronco Sport compete against the Compass or the Cherokee more?
Cherokee. The Bronco Sport actually has more cargo space.
Compass, since the Cherokee is dead
@@AHungryHunky If Jeep was smart they would make the Cherokee look like the classic XJ Cherokee. That's what my wife's Bronco Sport reminds me of.
Really great video with someone that knows how to test the off road modes of the vehicle!
46k for a yellow and white refrigerator??? 😮😮😮 i don’t think so ford
They discontinued the Cherokee.
12:04 they should change the mode name "rock crawl" to "crazy mode".
46 grand for these, Is that right? My wife bought a new 2021 trail hawk compass in the fall of 2020 for less than 30k
Does the compass not have a rear locker still like the Cherokee?
$46,000!!?!???!!??!?!?!
That's just for the special addition heritage, you can buy the Badlands that has all the same s*** on it for thirty-five to. 37,000
