      Thanks, brother! I was thinking the same. And I'm sure glad that at least someone else thought of that video. I'm not here to criticize or downplay the capabilities of those vehicles, but I can't help but think how sterile of an environment this is for showing the car's real life capabilities. I would suggest those Moab and Rubicon trail fans watch Russian videos of off roading. Again, this is not to say these cars wouldn't perform in the Russian environment or that their (Russian) cars will necessarily perform better. It's just the way most Americans set their criteria and expectations for evaluating this or that product's performance. Heck, this sort of reminded me of that guy performing evaluation of AK vs. AR arctic environment performance by having the rifles placed in a large cooler, filled with dry ice. Compare that to the Russian method of pouring water over them, then throwing them in deep snow, picking them up in a few hours and testing.

    • @99unclebob
      @99unclebob 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@mardamek maybe the Russians do it more real worldly, it costs no money to pour water over a rifle and then toss it in real deep snow then start testing dry ice cost money, Russians just take the more practical approach

    • @TOFU2urDOOR
      @TOFU2urDOOR 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Festus Punky technically a crown vic is a truck with a car body lol. I'm also pretty sure he said he had a locker in the rear axle. I doubt any bronco sport owners owner would consider doing this regardless that it can. That being said it still can and that alone is pretty impressive.

    • @mardamek
      @mardamek 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@99unclebob Honestly, I hadn't even thought of the cost savings in using water vs dry ice. That's more of a bonus side effect. My point was more aimed towards the fact that dry ice will only achieve the temperature portion of the test, but most of the times Americans fail to realize that the coldness doesn't just happen in a sterile environment, that cold usually means snow, dirt, mud, etc. So, by concentrating on only one factor, the end product fails to be as robust in real life as the "flying color" test results (from testing against that one factor) would suggest. Oh, and your comment about Russians taking the more practical approach reminded me of the old joke. During a science summit a NASA scientist gives a presentation about their new invention, a pen that can write in space, in conditions with lack of gravity. He goes into details about the development process and the millions of dollars that went into development. Then he invites the Russian scientist to respond to his speech and share their inventions. So, he asks the Russians "I recon you guys have, if not the same, something similar to this to use in space, right?" And the Russian guy goes "nah, we just use a pencil".

If that thing could be optioned with a package like Sasquatch and had just a two inch lift via body spacers, crawl option with a low gear, and some 32's or 33's it would create a class of its own. Jeep Compass? Never heard of her. Fantastic job Ford.

    great video again, the camera work is spot on, you logo on the bottom of the screen sometimes blocks good parts of the video , thats just me, I love these Broncos and have started to put money aside for one, you saved the best for last starting at 5:55- 8:10 was EPIC was this a stock vehicle, it looked like it was just on steel wheels and stock tires just aired down a bit, my guess is that driver was no newbie ,some real patience there, and allot of pucker factor,🤣 great video series, this is what helped me decide to save for a Bronco, I do not need a crazy one ,just a Bronco 👍

      Jebus Hypocristos lol nobody is whining, the Rav4 prime is a kill for Toyota but I definitely wouldn't hype it up to have a 0 to 60 of 4 seconds. and your friend, they must have the I3 in it, I've gapped 2 V6 Escapes, first and second gen, a V6 Equinox, an 06 Maxima (he botched the launch) and a Kia Forte SX (also botched the launch lol awd rules). The 2.0 Escapes kicks ass, not a sports car but definitely does the job. The 3.0 isn't a bad engine either, especially when they put the six speeds in them in 2010. Those 2nd gens were always my favorite because the V6.

    It was already understood what the FSB (Full Size Bronco) would bring to the party. What was unsure to the public is if the FBS (Ford Bronco Sport) would be close to what Ford was advertising. I believe Ford intentionally down played the FBS, so we could see it play out on videos in places such as Moab for ourselves. It is brilliant because no one was expecting such a good performance. The FBS is great for the type of vehicle it is. That being said, remember, it was never meant to be an off-road killer of giants. It’s more of the Mighty Mouse of “stock” compact SUV’s. Albeit, it’s the upper trim model, but stock from factory vehicle with no modifications nor aftermarket parts. Who here remembers the cartoon, Mighty Mouse? Lol

    For a vehicle "based on the Ford Escape Platform", that is ridiculously capable. It definitely could out wheel a Compass Trailhawk and could probably follow a Cherokee Trailhawk most places. I am genuinely impressed.

    • @TrailRider1200
      @TrailRider1200 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For sure out-wheel the Compass. Cherokee has that 2-speed PTU that really gives it an advantage over the Sport. If Ford put that 2-speed unit (it's an AAM piece, not FCA) I think the Bronco could out-wheel the Cherokee as well. I'd trade my 2020 Cherokee Trailhawk in for one if they had the 2-speed unit.

    • @Channel-yq6qy
      @Channel-yq6qy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TrailRider1200 I'm about to replace my Lifted KK with a Cherokee Trailhawk. The 2-Speed PTU is definitely the selling point, especially if you are doing moderately difficult rock crawling at high altitude. There is definitely no substitute for genuine low gearing. But I'm guessing maybe a reasonably low first gear and decent torque with the EcoBoost engine in that Bronco Sport is making it able to do that without a low range.

    I'm in the market for a vehicle that can cross a shallow river. One of them I am considering is possibly the Bronco Sport. My only dislike is that its 6" shorter then my 2018 Focus but I don't know if I should worry about that. I was originally leaning towards a Ford Ranger Supercrew but the monthly payments would be kinda high for me and with the executive orders halting the Keystone pipeline and the suspension of crude oil drilling on American land gas prices are going up and no telling what they will be by summer time. Or even if I have a job when everyone cuts back on leisurely spending.

    • @MichaelMarvin
      @MichaelMarvin 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      DG it has both a center diff lock for true 4WD and a rear locker. Go look up a picture of the GOAT mode selector for the Badlands trim level of the Sport and you can see the buttons for yourself. You can hear the spotter telling the driver to hit his rear locker in this video...

    • @noelebbert9322
      @noelebbert9322 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MichaelMarvin no, it doesn't have true 4wd. it's a simulated rear diff lock in the rear not a mechanical one and it's AWD not 4 wheel drive. there's no transfer case and it doesn't have a 4 lo.

    • @MichaelMarvin
      @MichaelMarvin 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Noel Ebbert I've read several different dealer Q and As answered directly by a Ford representative, and they all stated that the rear had the dual clutch AND a rear locker. Until I see something more definitive saying otherwise, I'm lead to believe that it does have a locker. Additionally, 4WD is not defined by a transfer case, but simply the ability to split the torque coming to each axle 50/50, rather than a biased split in AWD. If you look at the center diff lock button for the Sport, it even has "4WD" printed on it.

    Guys, it's not that the Bronco Sport is crazy capable. It's that everyone nowadays thinks that you need 37"s and full lockers with solid axles and an ungodly lift to go anywhere. Truth is, unless you're doing a hardcore trail in moab (this aint it) or the Rubicon, you almost never need the capability, you're just driving a tall/heavy/poor handling truck for something you'll likely never need. :)
