Had an 08. Replaced thermostat, burped it, replaced water pump. They tried to tell me heater core b/c i wasn't getting heat and it overheated when idling. It was the head gasket. The nox is famous for it
My car didn’t even last 10 minutes before it started to overheat. 2 minutes in the drive way and at every red light, my car was flashing messages and telling me to turn off my car. The problem was the thermostat and a fan fuse. As soon as I changed those two things out, I had no more overheating issues. I changed my headlights to LED all on my own. lol Later on I had to change the water pump. Im too chicken to do the serpentine belt on my own lol I can’t take Nox (what I call my Equinox) to a drive in car wash unless I’m ready for a swim. I’m going to work on my sunroof today, since we are still getting some sun. I really hope clearing the hoses and/or reconnecting the them will stop the aquatic car ride experience. 😂😂
When your head gaskets were blown was there coolant in oil or vise versa? How did you realize they were blown? I have a 07 and I’m having overheating issues
You’re right! They do have water leak problems! I thought he didn’t put enough coolant in it, because that was my problem was . I have 2007 equinox these models were made cheap. Now I’m having computer problems with it 😡
I have the same problem replaced the thermostat, water pump, flushed the heater core and no fix. Thinking it is the head gasket. Around how much was the fix? That will help me determine if its worth fixing or getting a new car.
@Zebra Lady75 I just found out it was the head gasket. On 2009 Chevy equinoxes head-gaskets are notorious for leaking due to the dex cool coolant they manufactured it with.
@@johnwest8686 Right that Sex cool coolant is acidifies to the gaskets in the whole engine. It eats the gaskets up over time and quicker when the engine is hot. Best to use the green antifreeze
My fans wont come on. The small one wont spin without a little force. Big one spins but i cant hear it while ac is on. Alll i know is when my fans work i got no issue
before doing any major repairs on your brakes, change the brake line on the side which your brake is giving problems. The equinox's brake line is notorious for going awry.
You're soo lucky you found me. The equinox has this thing about making you waste a lot of money on new caliper and or ABS components plus the labor when it only needed to be change was the brake line for the side that is locking up. Costs brake line plus the labor. A fraction of what it costs to throw parts at it (hundreds). Trust me, change the brake line first and go from there.
@@naterade21 i hope u replaced the thermostat as well . You always start fixing for the most probably and common problem Thermostat always needs to be replaced when you get an old car .

Was overheating too much to be anything other than blown head gasket
naterade21 I found out that it just needed bled out today. Newer vehicles are a whole lot different! Who would’ve thought?!
If your thermostat won't open the fan won't kick on. Too cool off motor
What a cheaply made piece of crap.. water in the headlights, dash colors faded/peeling..wow
was made in canada

Coolant bleeder line is plugged going into the coolant reservoir.
no...
Time to trade it in.
was traded in for a 2019 fusion
I tell yah, GM really done fucked up building these equinoxes! Nothing but constant issues!

@@demetriusjohnson3677 how much did the fix cost you for the head gasket and radiator?
Anybody has issues with the transmission wanting to be a horse? Worst car ever. Prob a blown head gasket in this case.

Mine would come on when i turned the ignition off
Could be a hairline fracture in the engine block
What did all of that cost?
Too much lol
Looks like a 30 year old car left exposed to the elements All faded off.
Burp it.
do u knw why my brakes on driver side keep lockin up
might be your abs pump goin out or you need a new caliper
