    Thank you for putting this out here. My wife has an ‘05 Equinox. It has been a great vehicle for us. Very reliable. I don’t think these first generation Equinox get the credit they deserve. Of course, ours is aging, so I’m just doing some homework to get more familiar with it as we intend to keep it going as long as we can. A couple of ideas for you…. You had mentioned not being able to get the fuel line to release. Take a cap off a cheap ball point pen and cut off the part that keeps it in your shirt pocket. Then slit it down the middle. Place the cap over the line with the bottom of the cap facing the connection. Push the cap into the connection and pull on the line. Eventually it will give. Also, when you have access to a wiring harness that runs above the engine, it is a good time to protect the wires from heat. I wrap mine in self adhesive silicone tape. It withstands temps up to 500 F. Then I wrap it again with a high quality electrical tape. Thanks again for the Equinox video. There seems to be a shortage of good ones.

    It is best to not disturb the injectors due to possible leaks. The manifold can be removed by just removing the main connector to them. Only time you would remove the injector rail would be if you were replacing injectors or "O" rings.

    Thank you! I was wondering if there was any way to pull the lifters through just the valve covers. This gave me my answer. Just a little more disassembly to go.

    what is that circle device on the fuel injector rail between the fuel line disconnect and the fuel pressure valve?
    anyone one know what it is and the purpose?

    Do not remove the fuel rail. This is unnecessary extra work. Use the proper tool to disconnect fuel tube coupling by inserting and twisting tool back n forth while gently pulling apart and it should then separate. This has always worked for me. Must rotate tool back n forth.

    doing this right now on a 2009, tentioner is a bitch and you dont have enough leverage to move it far enough so youll need to pry the belt some.

    Hi I just did the same repairs on my 2006 Equinox. New lifters and timing chain also replaced rod bearings even though they looked fine. However I am still getting the lifter noise. I even tried priming the lifters with oil before installing. I checked the oil pressure and it is at 40 psi. Can't figure out why there's still lifter noise. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks.

      Hey! Honestly i never went that far. I replaced the lifters and started the car. The noise i thought would get better but never went away. I never solved the noise and sold the car. I expressed to the new owners it had that noise at 80K when the previous owner bought it and lasted another 120K and never got worse. I was thinking a timing chain but could never figure it out.

      @@marioantonio7639 Yes I replaced the lifters again with original GM lifters and no more lifter noise. The ones I bought from Ebay were cheap and did not stay primed.

    How long total did this job take ?? I seen you had to wait for the parts to be delivered. Was its one or two days total time wise?

    • @Schneids15
      @Schneids15  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Two days due to parts. Otherwise you could have it done in probably 6 hours to a day no problem.

      @@Schneids15 Thanks , Your video is the most detailed and clearest video on TH-cam that I can visually see for this particular engine. I will be giving it a try soon on a 2006 Equinox.

    Why not new rocker arms? Seems like missed opportunity. Why not pre & post maintenance engine sound check? How do we know anything changed? That would likely raise your views/reviews… just sayin. I have a first year ‘05 AWD LT Nox with 128k. Considering same work with new roller rockers even though not very noisy yet. Take care up there. Aloha.

      I like your name picky point. You are picky! Haha
      No rocker arms because they are not required. This engine has 210K on it and these are not known to be high mileage engines. The whole car cost me 2000$ and i have got 3 years out of it so far. I am not concerned on preventative maintenance for this motor. However yes if something i was planning on keeping for a long time why not.

    1:44 use a 3/8s rachet might need a pip as leverage that tool is too long and will stop at the front of the vehicle.

    If just doing the lower manifold gasket, do the valve covers need to come off?

    • @stevensapyak7971
      @stevensapyak7971 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      4.4.24. Yes, you have to pull the valve covers in order to change the lower intake, manifold gaskets. Lisle tool 48300 is a worthwhile tool to use because you don’t have to loosen the rocker arm bolts risking stripping out the aluminum threads in the head bolt connection. you just utilize the tool to lift the rocker arm in pull out the pushrod. if you don’t use the tool, I highly suggest that you rotate the crankshaft for each cylinder, making sure the valves are closed on that cylinder. That way the camshaft is not trying to lift the valve off it’s seat, causing pressure at the rocker arm, bolt and aluminum threads in the head! I can’t emphasize this enough‼️ there’s a lot of videos on TH-cam of ticking GM 3100/3400 engines because of this.
