I agree this animal definitely needs more recognition. I know about it, think it's an awesome dinosaur, and if someone had said name the second largest NA predator I wouldn't have even thought of it. For some reason it just slips under the radar.

Acrocanthosaurus is most likely 4th largest carnivorous dinosaur of North America.
Top 3 are Tyrannosaurus rex, Tyrannosaurus mcraeensies & Saurophaganax maximus

@@monsterzero521 it hasn’t been proven yet but I’d be all for Saurophaganax being the second largest. It has one of the most metal names ever for a Dino. Thx for the comment. Mike

This is a cool animal. We have dinosaur track ways in Texas that are believed to be made by Acrocanthrosaurus with Sauropods and maybe evidence of a hunt. Correct me if I am wrong but I read that it is more closely related to Allosaurus than to Carcharodontosauridae. Also as far as I know we have only four specimens of this animal so it might be bigger than we think. Maybe this animal might be on the movie screen in the new Jurassic movie and the Walking With Dinosaurs sequel .

If you can't decide if you want a T-Rex or spino then acrocanthosaurus is the go-to to settle the indecision. I will be featuring an acrocanthosaurus in a future work. And I agree that the term "acro" does sound way more formidable. Its such an underrated theropod that needs more spot in the limelight.

I feel it's all about the name, TYRANNOSAURUS sounds regal, huge and devastating..but ACROCANTHOSAURUS sounds too scientific, and doesn't have any English sounding parts, also honestly I thought this was native to South America!
