K. Rool is demanding the entire banana hoard as ransom! Donkey Kong has been ape-napped, and it's up to Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong to rescue their pal. Play as either Kong and take advantage of their unique abilities. Diddy's Cartwheel can take out the bulkiest of baddies, while Dixie's Helicopter Spin will let you hover over some tricky spots. There's also a wild assortment of friendly animals ready to help out the two little Kongs. There are over 40 levels in all-each filled with traps, collectibles, dastardly Kremlings, and a boatload of barrels to blast out of!

Dude this was the very first video game I ever played. Back on my Gameboy pocket, as a 3 year old child playing this game for hours until the battery died. 27 years later and the nostalgia hits me hard.

This was the first game I got for Christmas 1998 along with my purple Game Boy Color that year.

@@batmanbud2 it's just the level names/music that come from DKC2. the levels themselves are new
FUN FACT: This was Grant Kirkhope's first music job, adapting the David Wise soundtrack.
It may not be as challenging as DKC2 on SuperNES, but I still love this, and it does a good job adapting the game to Gameboy, but with some nice differences, and new levels, so it's almost a new DKC2.
It also has some improvements to DKL1 and has smoother movements, larger levels, and characters stand out from the background better.
So tomorrow is donkey kong land 3 which means dk64 on Thanksgiving baby!!

The SNES Donkey Kong Country trilogy are some of my favorite games ever made. I've never played the Donkey Kong Land games until they started to become available on Switch Online. So far they are really good for what they are.
The Donkey Kong Land games are so underrated. The second two are so much fun, but the first one is just straight up its own game and shockingly good.

Well, looks like we can look forward to seeing _Donkey Kong Land III_ in less than a week, possibly the DKC Advance ports after that, and then somewhere down the line will be DK64. Hopefully though they don't release the Game Boy Color version of DKC on the Online. That version wasn't very good and not really worth playing if you have the SNES and GBA versions already.
I dunno GBC DKC would be a nice curiosity too, and it wasn't that bad, except some later levels.

This was my Donkey Kong game as a kid, and one of my first Game Boy games. Never even played the SNES game until 20+ years later.
I remember the controls being really good and responsive compared to most other Game Boy games. Which was necessary given how hard it was to see what was happening on a Game Boy screen outside of perfect lighting conditions lol
