Thanks for your service to the KSP community, you are the reason I can Lazy Lowne Dock confidently and easily the main reason I continued to play KSP to this day.

So, this might be something cool you would be interested to check out eventually when it releases. A bunch of KSP2 Players are modding the game with the stuff they found in the games files, colony parts, etc. They also emailed Private Division and they said its fine if they use them to only mod KSP2. So right now there is work on a Colony mod with most of the features they promised, cooler clouds also asteroids & isru and ofc planet modding.
Hi, got ksp 1 around a month or 2 ago. Proud to say after launching my first 3 satellite using my own ssto design, I have launched 144 metric tons (4 orange tanks) in a giant ssto (flying wing) into orbit. Your videos have greatly helped my progress in ksp. Wish me luck in reentry!
Recently started playing ksp1 again and I would like to thank you for your videos . I' have had KSP1 since 2013, but currently showing only 76 hours of game play and most of that is recent. Your videos have helped me learn more about the mechanics of the game. I made my first successful orbit and landing. Thank you 😊🚀 Edit: are you excited for KSA?
The weirdest thing about kerbal space program is that I have always had more fun making aircraft in it. I have spent the last two days mostly making tiny little aircraft and replicas of real life aircraft. I don’t even bother with mods because my computer is a potato
One thing i love a lot about KSP is how you make you’re own goals and achieving them is more satisfying than completing goals set by the game like yeah its so cool seeing you’ve got 2700 science from one trip but whats cooler is seeing that you were able to send a satellite to minmus in different parts and have them all dock together its a feeling that no other game can capture
Kitten space agency? Its being worked on by HarvestR (OG KSP dev) and hes not the lead, but hes in there along with a TON of respected ksp1 modders. Oh and the dev of FRIGGIN DayZ TOO
For me, the saddest part is just...every time I see that trailer for KSP2, or see gameplay footage... Some little, tiny part of me still refuses to believe it's dead. How could anyone want to kill one of the greatest franchises of all time? And yeah, I get corporate greed, I get that Take Two is evil, I get all these things. But there's just this little, tiny, innocent part of my mind that just can't fathom why anyone would take one of the greatest opportunities in all of game dev history...and just squander it like that.
Really wish we could get an engine refresh for KSP 1. It could run so much better on hardware newer than what was top-of-the-line in 2011... The inability to use >4GB RAM without a) a hack and b) a garbage collector pausing the game for a full second out of every 5 would go a long, long way towards a KSP renaissance... Marginally better Linux support (it runs _great_ on Linux, but not without a couple minor tweaks that many users don't know about) would help, too, especially for the growing number of Steam Deck users.
Ok im going to say, can you make a video on how to get, download and install and ultimately which mods as standard you recommend. Im not really one for downloading etc. So id love a quick guide and i bet thousands of others would too who are both intimidated by the process and embarrassed thst they dont know how too!
I really liked all the procedural parts for airplanes and such in KSP2. The colors were nice, as well. I guess with the right mods you could make KSP1 look better, but I saw what could be, and it’s hard to go back to KSP1 for me.
They should have added random astronaut NPC's on planet and in orbit you could meet up with to get given random side quests, land and atmospheric flying races, planet to planet races, drop parts/resources off, pick X up from there and take them to Y etc.
Perfect answer "No"... I'm still experimenting with the machine parts of KSP1, have already built a nuclear hovercraft high-altitude launch platform. No way you can build something like that in KSP 2. I'm going to watch your entire video anyway, and like it, just because you said "no" in the first few seconds :)
I'm looking forward to the new Kitten Space Agency. Already they've been far more transparent than even squad was developing ksp1, even going as far to post a live changelog of the work they've been doing which updates as little as every 15 minutes, and they have big names from both KSP development teams and the modding community, including HarvestR!
Would love to see a video covering good KSP1 mods to use for people who havent played KSP1 in a while or havent kept up with the modding community, etc. at the minimum, recommendations would be cool :)
That TLDW at the start is great, and really all that needs saying. Not only did it release into EA in a buggy basically unplayable mess, they wanted £45 for it!
I have played KSP1 for over a decade and I was very excited by the KSP2. But after experiencing too many game breaking bugs I stopped playing it and went back to KSP1 and I haven't gone back. After seeing that HarveseR who you interviewed on this channel 5 months ago is now working on KSA I am once again very excited for the future of space games. For those that don't know he was the original dev who pitched Kerbal Space Program to Squad which was based on the little tinfoil astronauts he used to launch on fireworks when he was a kid.
Have you seen anything about Kitten Space Agency? Supposedly a KSP successor in development…I’m always looking to fill that KSP 2 void in my soul lol. Keep up the good work Matt you’re the best space gamer out there!
It's so sad that KSP 2 is currently in the state that it is, but as hard as it is to do, I will continue to hold faith that I didn't drop 50 dillar on a game that I can't even play, and that one day, ONE DAY! I will see my beloved KSP 2 out in it's full glory.
You're one of the biggest reasons I bought KSP 1. You and some dudes who made Ksp tutorials for (brainless) dummies like me! And man I thank you TwT This game is pure joy... I modded the shit out of it, but still, what a beast of a game
Because your doing modded ksp now you should do a series along the lines of “journey to jool” where you use hiesenburgs airships and air park to make a floating jool base
I got KSP1 back in greenlight and honestly feel it was in a better state back then than ksp2. They spent so long making an amazing game with huge modding community, and rather than keep nurturing it they just tried to make a new game
I've recently started playing KSP (1) again, thanks to finally getting a laptop that can run it just fine. I even got the Making History and Breaking Ground DLCs when they were on sale. I've been trying to find some good mods to help improve the visuals, and maybe even add some cool extra stuff that feels vanilla. Do you have any recommendations I could download Via CKAN? It seems like most of the mods on there are labeled "out of date" or "incompatible" with KSP's final version.
Glad I never got sucked into "the first was great, just wildly fund anything they do next"... Ksp is great. And ksp1 could have just as easily (possibly more easy) have been upgraded. They only wanted to squeeze a popular title for more cash...
Hello Matt when you made an rocket or ssto that have two parts with Kerbals that separe and you can't return all the parts you can just put parachutes that actives when upyou separate and return in security
explanation for fellow Americans: Imagine a basic week-old cheeseburger. It's a bit old, and newer burgers have more stuff. That is KSP1. Now, imagine a fresh cheeseburger without condiments or the like that's missing the top bun. After you begin to eat, the chef starts adding the cheese, then the pickles. Now imagine the company owner walking out and shooting the chef as they're adding onto the burger. Then the manager walks out and says everything is fine, but after that the owner says they're closing this location. This burger is KSP2.
I got into KSP way back before it was on steam. 2011 or 2012 I think. I've sunk probably 2000 hours into the game between the early beta versions and the steam release. I had a huge amount of fun with the game and eventually moved on to other things. I'm lucky, because I didn't feel any need to buy KSP2, having done it all in KSP. I figured when they eventually released base building and interstellar travel I would give it a look. I really managed to dodge a bullet there! Now to go and continue to lick my wounds over all the money I dumped into Star Citizen...
@MattLowne, check out Bob Greenyer of the Martin Fleischmann Memorial project. You could expand your space content by researching beyond rocket boom technology. And you will be utterly surprised.
I'm a causal player, I really like KSP 2. KSP 1 I had been playing since the alpha but even then was extremely intimidating. I really learned a lot from KSP 2 and it carries over to KSP 1, so I would tell people learn on KSP 2, then treat KSP 1 as the sequel that's more finished.
The problem with telling them to "learn on KSP 2" is that requires them to overpay for an unfinished product or become a digital privateer and acquire a copy through other means. Neither should ever be recommended as the go to option. If you already have it, then sure, but if you don't... Well, the whole point of the video is to tell you which to buy which means you have neither... No, the best is to just get KSP 1 and learn how to play KSP 1 by playing KSP 1... And get CKAN and download mods, like mechjeb, so you have an autopilot that can do things for you when you get frustrated or intimidated by the scope of the mission you want to do, or bored with doing the same thing over and over again and just want autopilot to handle it. And other mods that add fun parts, and other mods that make everything look a lot better.
Why 2 first? Maybe it has better in-game tutorials, but there is a host of video tutorials for KSP1, including some truly excellent ones. Since Mike Aben's tutorials got known, no-one's been saying "I can't even land on the Mun" any more, unless they haven't yet heard of him. There's the graphics, I guess, where KSP2 doesn't need to be modded to look spectacular. A new player might not want to start modding straight away. For newbies who want to play the game first and see the sights second, KSP1 would be all right; they can mod later, but it's not so great for other players, I guess. So maybe there is something to getting KSP2 first, but only a little bit because installing mods for KSP1 isn't hard.
Just picked up KSP1. I want it to look amazing. What mods should I pick up? If any modders charge for their work, I'm fine paying as well. Just want the absolute best looking KSP1 possible.
To be honest... KSP2 is still a better experience new new players. The onboarding missions are way better for learning. I spent 500 hours in KSP1 and never made it to Duna. Within 200 hours of KSP2 I was doing tour missions to Jool. KSP1 is terrible at pushing players to challenge themselves and even worse at guiding players towards the "next" challenge that is appropriate for them. KSP1 has more potential for long term play. But I think it's reasonable to start with KSP2 and then move over to KSP1 after you've done the whole solar system.
This was a very helpful and informative video that will point a lot of people in the right direction. However it would have had a more emotional impact if it had been presented in a the form of an interpretive rollercoaster park.
Subasemblies are already in ksp 1. On the left side of the screen, click the advanced tab (above the part selection), and the green rocket symbol is the subassemblies tab
The problem is, to make KSP 1 better than KSP 2 requires a lot of mods. The modding community for KSP1 is the best I’ve ever seen for a game, but for newcomers, I imagine they have no idea where to start. Even as a KSP veteran, I get overwhelmed by all the mod options sometimes.
Matt. I love your Vids, and KSP1. And surly KSP1 is more Better then "Brocken" KSP2. But i never Landed on the Moon by my self, only in a Mission that starts next to it LOL. Also to people are thinking still which to buy. KSP1 is the Choise, Matt said it too, u can mod KSP1 with the Mod Installer Ckan, or from Nexus. there are Thousends of Mods to choose, and Dif Categories. GL HF, Love You!
We all agree. One of the greatest games of all time. KSP1. I have yet to find another game where I have even close to the same amount of time invested.
I remember I bought KSP2 the same day it was made available on Steam and since I apparently hate myself, I've decided it was a good idea to build something complex and see how it goes. After a WEEK of building, testing etc I was done. I've build Ranger from Interstellar lol. And then multiple other more or less famous things. KSP is the goat, however KSP2 made the experience way more challenging, especially since I couldn't use any part mods, as there were none available at the time. Plus, ofc, 'occasional' game-breaking bugs were present every step of the way. Currently, I'd refund the game if I could.

Continue to monitor, hope for the best, give them an opportunity to succeed.
I have been off grid for about a year. KSP2 was a highlight of my return and the news was devastating. The current state of KSP1+Mods was a welcome embrace to return to.
Thanks for your service to the KSP community, you are the reason I can Lazy Lowne Dock confidently and easily the main reason I continued to play KSP to this day.
I'm sure many people's money will be saved because of you matt. Keep up the good work 👍
I warned so many people, I tried to get them to wait just a few more weeks before spending their money, and I got called all sorts of names for it. I am not happy that I was proven right, I am just sad that so many people lost their money and had their hopes dashed. I hope everyone who did buy the game learn to not trust marketing in the future and that we can all focus and making KSP1 a better game.
KSP is always going to be number one. Period.
A really great community on console too. Still active and has been for sometime now.
Long live KSP!!!
Recently started playing ksp1 again and I would like to thank you for your videos .
I' have had KSP1 since 2013, but currently showing only 76 hours of game play and most of that is recent. Your videos have helped me learn more about the mechanics of the game. I made my first successful orbit and landing. Thank you 😊🚀
Edit: are you excited for KSA?
matt loves ksp so much he's shrinking and turning green
I hope more people watch this video before buying KSP 2. Steam should stop selling it. Thanks Matt and long live KSP !
The weirdest thing about kerbal space program is that I have always had more fun making aircraft in it. I have spent the last two days mostly making tiny little aircraft and replicas of real life aircraft. I don’t even bother with mods because my computer is a potato
Long live Jeb, the Hero of Kerbin
Holding out for KSA.
You should cover KSA next (Kitten Space Agency)
it doesn't really exist yet.
@@keiyakins that true there is no public alpha yet. But maybe they may give him an alpha key
Cool, now please do a video on all the "canonical" mods to improve and rejuvanate ksp1 ❤
I have like 100 mods installed and with blackrack volumetric clouds and Linx parallax continued, it’s absolutely beautiful
Hopefully someday we will actually get a game like the one that Intercept promised KSP 2 would be
Kitten space agency? Its being worked on by HarvestR (OG KSP dev) and hes not the lead, but hes in there along with a TON of respected ksp1 modders. Oh and the dev of FRIGGIN DayZ TOO
What do you think about the Kitten Space Agency or otherwise the KSA game RocketWerks is gonna start developing???
i hate to say it but that space port teleporting into space seems like that could be fun
the first 2 seconds of this video earned you a like... well done!
Hey @MattLowne, did you saw "KSA"? Its a sucesor of KSP 1
I really liked all the procedural parts for airplanes and such in KSP2. The colors were nice, as well. I guess with the right mods you could make KSP1 look better, but I saw what could be, and it’s hard to go back to KSP1 for me.
Awesome start! 😂🎉 thought it was really over.🎉 I immediately liked 👍
Kitten Space Agency might still save a ksp sequel
Betteridge's law of headlines applies again, but Matt actually sticks the answer at the start.
They should have added random astronaut NPC's on planet and in orbit you could meet up with to get given random side quests, land and atmospheric flying races, planet to planet races, drop parts/resources off, pick X up from there and take them to Y etc.
Thought Matt was crazy for a minute actually considering the prospect of KSP2 being a valued purchase for new players. Was very quickly satisfied.
Kerbals sending their entire space R&D facility into space is hecking hilarious and you can't tell me otherwise
Would love to see a video covering good KSP1 mods to use for people who havent played KSP1 in a while or havent kept up with the modding community, etc. at the minimum, recommendations would be cool :)
0:01 to 0:09 thank you for this information, i will stay with Ksp 1 instead of my planned Ksp 2 videos.
I live in Utah, next to one of the largest salt lakes in the world. That amount of salt pales in comparison to the salt Matt has towards KSP2.
And yet it’s not enough. They rap&d Kerbal in the KSP2 offices.
so THATS why its called salt lake city
yes, but that salt is well warranted
Have you seen anything about Kitten Space Agency? Supposedly a KSP successor in development…I’m always looking to fill that KSP 2 void in my soul lol. Keep up the good work Matt you’re the best space gamer out there!
It's so sad that KSP 2 is currently in the state that it is, but as hard as it is to do, I will continue to hold faith that I didn't drop 50 dillar on a game that I can't even play, and that one day, ONE DAY! I will see my beloved KSP 2 out in it's full glory.
There’s a group of modders trying to finish the game on the intercept discord
@@2dogplc Godspeed to them

dont buy full priced early access games if you enjoy having money
@@thecanadianfuhrer8602 pipe down lil bro
Why did you buy it???? Never buy early acces; just wait for reviews
You're one of the biggest reasons I bought KSP 1. You and some dudes who made Ksp tutorials for (brainless) dummies like me! And man I thank you TwT This game is pure joy... I modded the shit out of it, but still, what a beast of a game
You’re doing an incredible job with your content!
Because your doing modded ksp now you should do a series along the lines of “journey to jool” where you use hiesenburgs airships and air park to make a floating jool base
I love ksp2s starting space area it looks like a proper space launch place. I wish there was a way to port that over to ksp1
thanks for answering the question we were all asking each other 3 seconds in!
I got KSP1 back in greenlight and honestly feel it was in a better state back then than ksp2. They spent so long making an amazing game with huge modding community, and rather than keep nurturing it they just tried to make a new game
Cool video as always, Matt. Also. Have you heard about Kitten Space Agency?
I've recently started playing KSP (1) again, thanks to finally getting a laptop that can run it just fine. I even got the Making History and Breaking Ground DLCs when they were on sale.
I've been trying to find some good mods to help improve the visuals, and maybe even add some cool extra stuff that feels vanilla. Do you have any recommendations I could download Via CKAN? It seems like most of the mods on there are labeled "out of date" or "incompatible" with KSP's final version.
best 10 second video ever
Hey Matt, do you know about the VIPER rover mission? You think you can recreate it and give it some much needed press? Lov your vids ❤
I think that when KSA comes out (the original dev of KSP makes KSA), it is definitely going to challenge KSP 1
5 second video. Got my answer. Sticking to KSP 1. Thanks Matt!
I definitely didn’t ask this same question 2 days ago and am now obsessed with watching ksp videos😂
Ksp2 had so much potential and there’s still things about it that I prefer and that they have over even a modded ksp2
We thank you for your obsession as we also enjoy the game. Your success is encouragement for us to keep learning and being persistent.
I'm so ready for the modding renaissance of KSP 1
explanation for fellow Americans:
Imagine a basic week-old cheeseburger.
You succesfully managed to use a burger as a metaphor for KSP☠️
I got into KSP way back before it was on steam. 2011 or 2012 I think. I've sunk probably 2000 hours into the game between the early beta versions and the steam release.
I had a huge amount of fun with the game and eventually moved on to other things.
I'm lucky, because I didn't feel any need to buy KSP2, having done it all in KSP. I figured when they eventually released base building and interstellar travel I would give it a look. I really managed to dodge a bullet there!
Now to go and continue to lick my wounds over all the money I dumped into Star Citizen...
"Fu**! In just 10 seconds, I already had the answer and upvoted the video! Magnificent! I'll watch until the end just for the creator.
Thanks for calling me cool! I've been here since 2017. I have always loved your content, and, because of it, I've been into KSP for 5-6 years now.
This is a very timely video, as I just recently decided to start playing KSP again once I realized that KSP2 was kaput.
This video starting exactly how I thought it would made my day
@MattLowne, check out Bob Greenyer of the Martin Fleischmann Memorial project.
There's a teeeeny tiny chance they'll pull off a No Mans Sky in two years.
Yes I do believe Santa is real
The main takeaway from this video is that we need 'Scott Manley is my copilot' bumper stickers.
I'm surprised this question requires a full Matt Lowne video to be answered
Let's hope there's many years left of fun to be had in KSP 1
I'm hoping for KSA to get it right.
This video started exactly how I hoped it would.
I think the game of while for all mankind universe has a lot less drama behind it 3:29
This was a very helpful and informative video that will point a lot of people in the right direction. However it would have had a more emotional impact if it had been presented in a the form of an interpretive rollercoaster park.
KSP one all the way. I bought 2 and even at the last update SOI changes were so bad that I never made it further than minmus.
I want a mod for KSP 1 that adds subassemblies and other nice building tools from KSP 2, but I don’t know how hard that would be for modders
Subasemblies are already in ksp 1. On the left side of the screen, click the advanced tab (above the part selection), and the green rocket symbol is the subassemblies tab
@ never knew that thanks
Np :)
The problem is, to make KSP 1 better than KSP 2 requires a lot of mods. The modding community for KSP1 is the best I’ve ever seen for a game, but for newcomers, I imagine they have no idea where to start. Even as a KSP veteran, I get overwhelmed by all the mod options sometimes.
beautiful intro. i love you for that lmao
I liked the shout out to us followers.
Thank you. Just what I was wondering.
KSP 1 for sure. Just a few mods and boom, KSP 1 graphics are of KSP 2
I wish private devision would have just added multiplayer to KSP1 and called it a day
