    This might work for a small 4 foot square area like this but anything bigger requires hardcore substrate put down before the sand or after a heavy rain your sand underneath will just sink as you walk on it.

      No it won’t because it’s compacted

    Great video. However bit daft you don't seem to sell some of the things mentioned i.e. the 100x25 timber and the wooden stakes.

    could you just roll it out on top of grass that does not grow and cut off the edges?

    Can I just add granite dust to my settled mud where grass used to be? Instead of installing a type 1 sub layer first?

      @@bandq other than the weed killer spray do you use anything else for weed prevention?

    • @bandq

    How would you compact the sand without that machine?

    • @bandq
      @bandq  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi, you can take small steps using your body weight to compact the sand but this will be quite time consuming. You could also try using a mallet on a plank of wood, however, you will need to use the same force throughout to ensure it stays level. Alternatively, you can saturate the sand with water. Once the water has ran through, it'll be nice and compact. However, as you will be covering it with artificial grass, it may be best to ensure it's dry first. Hope this helps! 🙂

      Hand tamper. You stand and pound it down with a manual tamper- grunt work, but cheaper

    Does rain drain off through the turf and the membrane, or is there a need for allowing a runoff?

    • @CuttingEdgeArtificialGrass
      @CuttingEdgeArtificialGrass 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Artificial grass has ample drainage holes in it.
      Normally a 75mm layer of compacted Type 1 hardcore would be laid under the sand to improve stability and drainage.
