It’s always a good morning when there’s a new video from Just a Few Acres Farm! Pete, I just finished reading your book last night. While I’m probably not as philosophical as you, I loved learning about your journey through rebuilding the farmhouse, leaving the corporate rat race, and transitioning into Farmer Pete. I wish my husband had your love of the land so he could entertain doing the same. You’re making a huge difference in the world, both through the amazing food you’re creating, but also through redirecting your audience toward what truly matters ~ keep it up, both of you!❤

Yes.
It just occurred to me that the enthusiasm for your channel is as much about your values, mostly shown by example in the way you live your life, as it is anything else. Looking out at the world today, from the never ending march towards a completely digital world (and all the harm that comes with that) to the insane wars abroad (which feel like they belong in the last century), and looking out at this country, from the legalized corruption in the federal government, to the never ending transfer of wealth upwards that results, to the outraged and outsmarted public, fighting amongst themselves, your channel is like an antidote to it all. A man of integrity, humility, common sense, and a joy to watch as a master of this craft. It's you and me (and I imagine many of the folks who enjoy this channel) that stand opposite all of that craziness out there. Here's to a breath of fresh air that's shared here on your channel, and may we be that solution to all of the problems out there, simply living our quiet lives of integrity. That's not to say that any of us are perfect, but in the real world there still are pockets of sanity, folks guided by their conscience, really trying to do what's right, where we can, acting in good faith. Our institutions and our technology will never save us, but maybe these little pockets of integrity, hopefully growing stronger, one day will.

Pete, you have a truly unique style. Something most TH-cam channels can't claim. Having watched you ponder the purpose if your channel a few times I feel compelled to point out that what you have is very special. There is a calmness that reminds me of slowTV train videos, and a thoughtfulness of commentary on the benzine everyday wonders of life that somewhat restores my hope in humanity. I really hope you don't get bored of it and keep going, with farming in whatever format you find rewarding and also with sharing it with us all. In today's crazy world, we truly do need it
Good job on that first chicken brooder! I love that you reused most of the original parts. And that the farm's ''lumber yard'' is mostly recycled wood. Waste not, want not and all that.

Hiya Pete, love the humor, This video is a great demonstration of the resiliency of the small family farm. Even in adversity (losing the piggers) you find a way to repurpose the space into something useful for the farm. Very little ever goes to waste even unused lumber from past projects finds a use in the next project. I will bet the old gate hardware removed from this space will reappear in some future project you haven't yet thought up. Have a great day!!
The new barn addition and the proximity of the hay has been a huge improvement this winter. I bet you and the cows have loved it.

I keep thinking about your statement about not building anything permanent, because your vision will change. The new cattle addition has worked well. The old cow barn has worked well for equipment storage. Now the pig farrowing area is going to work great as a chicken brooder house. Your carpenter even used a square this time. Have a great day. I know they were not pets, but I miss Bossy, Brownie and Billy. The piglets were cute, too. However, I now look forward to the new chicken brooder arrangement.

That "farm lumber yard" makes me happy. I saw a yt video last night of someone replacing their flooring. They were throwing out 15ft lengths of 3/4" x 6" white oak into a dumpster because of nail holes.
It hurt me deeply.
Yes, as I can relate with the Cornstar family when they were redoing their 100 year old Victorian farmhouse. They were not saving anything, including the oak planks because it had some damages and warped beyond saving and having an open air concept, it was necessary for them for their growing family. It pains me to see all that wood going into the burnpile. Sigh.
I agree. I don't like to A house totally gutted like that. To call it a restoration like that is a crime. @@HensOnly

I always enjoy watching. I lived with my uncle on a farm in Kentucky. Raised about 40 Black Angus, a few pigs, (25). The outhouse was in the chicken run to disguise the aromatic fragrance. You bring back those wonderful long hard-worked days to memory. Keep your spirits up as you are dealing with changes, I'm sure that you are going to make the right decisions. Thank you for the videos.

Once your brooder boxes get up and running, a feller COULD use that high-tunnel for a greenhouse to get garden plants started up.

It’s nice to see your videos again… I definitely did not un, but I wish they had stopped. I started searching today and found them again, and it was definitely good to hear your voice, as well as the calmness that you bring to a conversation!

Watching you build the Bruder house was very enjoyable because you’re so precise and I wish more people would slow down and be as precise as you are, Pete!! Yes for not getting the second one done I just want to tell you and I know you probably know this, but it doesn’t really matter How many you get done in a days time especially during the winter because you’re limited on the hours in a day and the hours the sun is up so, therefore, your work hours are shortened but more importantly, I don’t know if it was my grandmother, or someone else who said God doesn’t make a to do list and he doesn’t check off things that don’t get done and carry it over into the next day. I’ve lived my life as much as I can by that thought. I recently spent the last 2 1/2 months in the hospital trying to finally be cured of pneumonia. It’s harder and harder each year then I get older so I encourage you as long as you got your health not to stress over things that you don’t get done in a days time but rather enjoy what you’re able to do and your health the last 12 years I’ve been fighting cancer issues, pneumonia and heart issues and I sure wished I’d have been less stressed in my jobs and my working life and my personal life because the doctors tell me it would’ve made a big difference so I tried to encourage people to enjoy the fun things you’re doing including work because there’s nothing worse than when you wanna work and can’t.
I was watching Eddie Farm Pham, as well as Walker family fun and both of them mentioned you and I thought that was pretty cool because they were admiring not only what you do on the farm, but how much knowledge you have and that you were kind of the person they look up to the most.
Last but not least, last fall I was getting together with my sisters, and there were six of us in the room when I decided to tell them, I was watching farm videos not that it’s a big deal because we were all raised on the farm, but it’s been 50 years since we lived on the farm. Imagine my surprise when I told my sisters that I was watching farm videos and I asked if any of them happen to be watching farm videos… (Our parents passed away about 25 years ago)… I was shocked, first, by the fact that half of us or more were watching Pharm videos, and of that half all of us were watching you😊❣️😊❣️😊❣️😊❣️😊
I thought that was pretty cool… And by the way, all of us are educated college girls with honors, and it was super comforting to know that, even though we’ve been to college and beyond with good paying jobs, we still desired and loved the life I thank you, Pete, Hilary, for allowing me to be a part of yourvideos and farm life. Pete! Wait until you retire! then you will never have enough time to get anything done!. I went from 60 work week to retirement and I get less done now then I did when I worked those hours. I've had a new set of wheels for my grill sitting on the garage floor next to it for week now. Oh! they will get on before cooking season (I hope!) great to see you as always. thanks for sharing ECF.

Those little mini fence staples can sure be a pain. Good to see chick time coming. I have a small building here on the farm that I raise new layers in every spring, and sell most eggs at my neighbor's farm store. We had several inches of wet sloppy snow over the weekend here in Otsego County, it is mostly gone now. Maybe spring will come for good now. Glad to see Titus mixing in with the others- I know you said a while back that he was spending time off by himself. I bet he will be fine when he has his own harem.

Hey Pete, spring is always a nice time of the year here in Wisconsin as well. The last couple mornings it's been in the upper teens. ( About minus 50 C) The days have been getting a little warmer up near 40. ( About 50 C) Although we're not in agriculture we all have our spring routine and have to get used to the longer work hours and longer days. Thanks for the great videos!

That old chick brooder place would make an easy place to start seeds for your garden you are starting. Tomatoes and peppers and flowers? Then empty all summer.
I love the Celsius jokes. I wish I'd have thought of that, but it's mine now. Ratsl like grain and other stuff. I had two bars of soap swiped off the sink under the ramada. Some traps and the green cubes and the death of the neighbors garden all helped.
