I don't think the world is soft, or people are any more sqeamish or easier to offend than they ever were. It's the advertisers that are trying to sell a perfect clean world with soft edges, and their ads next to the reality of how meat is grown and processed doesn't fit in that. Content from the real world doesn't help them sell their frozen chicken nuggets or shampoo or perfectly clean trucks driving through the desert. It's great that Pete is willing to spend his time and energy to make educational videos that he doesn't make any money on.

@@stephenroylance3958 I completely agree with you on the 1950’s post war period of prosperity. That period lasted roughly 40 years and we are definitely trending down now. Much of America is completely separated from life and death, the food chain, and what it really takes to survive. We live “clean” lives completely dependent upon the electrical grid and the “system”. Oh, yes, I remember those big food prep times at the farm. I was no where to be found for the actual harvesting of the stock, but count me in for sausage making! When the whole family pitched in for these projects, it took on a bit of a holiday atmosphere, with my dad telling stories as we worked, and my mom playing polka music on the radio. It was the same for chicken plucking, apple picking and canning, and putting up of garden produce. I was quite the whiz on the paring knife.
I have a Howard Miller wall clock. It just keeps on ticking, but if it stops I will definitely get it repaired. It's good to know that I can probably find someone to manage that. So it is interesting to say the least. A clock that was on the church wall for that long is a wonder! Just think how many young men looked up at that clock and thought, "In a half hour, I will be a married man..." Or the children who looked at it despairingly, and thought, "Will the pastor EVER be done with his sermon??"

TH-cam have appointed themselves as an unelected 'guardian' of what THEY think that the viewing public should be able to watch. Your video showing how you 'home' butcher the grown pig was an excellent demonstration as to how and why animals are slaughtered for their own welfare and wellbeing. The sow that you butchered had lived a contented and productive life and was spared the frustrations and discomforts of old age. The video was also an unspectacular explanation as to how one source of our food is produced and should be used in an educational way to allow the younger generations to understand.

Love when Hillary is on. You guys make a great team and your versatility of skills is impressive. As a mechanic I find that most mechanical things overlap. I would not presume to claim that I could fix an old clock but given time I might get it done. Thanks for sharing Pete! Always entertaining and educational!

My dad was a butcher and we butchered our own meat, ground it into sausage, etc. This brought back great memories. I’d like to share a recipe for rolled roast. Take a beef brisket, slice a side of it open like a book, pat pork sausage onto it, roll it up, tie it with string and roast it low and slow. The pork fat moistens the brisket. It just melts in your mouth.

Good job! I lived on a cattle, chicken, horse farm. Almost a ranch. Tons of work.

Reminded me of “The jungle” when you were feeding pork and said “t can’t put a finger on it”. The only butchering videos I have seen on tube started with cutting a headless hanging frame, then working down. My neighbor used to break meat as a hobby, bringing calves home, and would break deer and elk for me, only asking to keep sausage for himself. I miss that Swiss butcher.

Don't you think it is about TIME we had a clock restoration video? I would love to see that. It is something I have never seen, but you make it so interesting. Please do.

Great videos as always! I would agree, the clock should have some videos. This is part of your farm life in the winter and the fact that the clock is historic is really neat.

I can't really think of anything that you could possibly make videos about that I wouldn't want to watch. Because I already watch every single video regardless of content. Clock fixing? BRING IT! Nothing better than homemade hot sausage!!💯❤️

Pete, loved watching the process of butchering you own Hog. You might try buying a roll of Shrink Wrap on a Spool at Home Depot for your wrapping. Goes a long way!

Hey Pete, if you're restoring that clock for the church, be sure to photograph and supply them with the pictures of the insides, the steps to repair, and all the documentation you found on research to give back to them when you finish. And perhaps they could then set up the documentation wherever they displace the repaired clock, for historical value within their church. My husband once repaired and recovered a velvet couch from the Victorian period and turned it into a time capsule, placing a plastic sealed letter of the last person to repair it and the work that was done. Will be helpful for the next person that does repairs on it, should it need more in the future. I used to build and paint/stain clock pieces that were naked wood for Michael's and such. Haven't have as much time to do that sort of thing, but always loved the woodworking.

Finding ways to weasel out of paying anyone anything is a point of pride to most corpo-critters. The reason they give is simply window dressing for their naked greed.

That is quite the honour to be asked to repair a classic item like the church clock. Looks like you have it figured out & so I look fwd to seeing the end result. Making grd pork & sausage looks like a lot of work but it must be tasty. :) Take care & stay safe. Cheers

The clock restoration would be amazing. Please include this project in your videos. Most people are disconnected from where their food comes from. We raise pork and chicken for our own consumption. Much better quality than what’s purchased at the local grocery store.
