Mayra you made the RIGHT DECISION!!! On Oct 25 2023 I had my Panniculectomy, I always been anemic but my hemoglobin level was 13 the day of surgery. How about it took me almost 3 months to recover because my hemoglobin when down to 7.2 after surgery and neither my Primary Dr or Plastic Surgeon never thought that all my set backs were due to my blood 😔 listen to your body even after surgery. Good luck mama 🥰😘
LMNT is having problems with their ingredients. There is a lot maltodextrin in those packets and they don’t disclose it and some people have had reactions.
I've been reading about this. Maltodextrin raises blood sugar more than sugar and spikes insulin. It can take people out of ketosis and it's dangerous for diabetics. Is it in the stevia?
@ . I bought it from KetoTwins link and I was vey exited to get it. I made one packet and was sipping on it while working in the kitchen. After about half gone, I got nauseous and dizzy. I felt terrible. I don’t have, and have never had any allergies and I’m very healthy. I threw the rest of the glassful out. I few days later I tried it again with the same issue happening. I notified the company and they credited my account. No questions asked but I wanted to tell them what was happening to me. Anyway. Since then I’ve read and seen a lot about it. Serious Keto talks about it. I think there may be some law suit going on. I read at least one woman had to go to the hospital after drinking it. I’m sure it doesn’t cause problems for the majority of people but supposedly the ingredients say 4mg of maltodextrin and there’s more like 400-500mg. Pretty deceptive if that’s true.
@@Shimmer2277 . Besides that, it has caused maybe some type of allergic reaction. I read of a woman who ended up in the ER. I am healthy and have never had allergies or reactions to any food. I have a primo gut. But, after sipping on my first packet while busy in the kitchen, I got nauseous and dizzy after half the glass. I stopped drinking it cuz I was feeling so bad. I didn’t know what was going on but I threw out the rest and a few days later drank it again not thinking it was the cause of my strange issue. Low and behold, it happened again. I’ve not tried a third time. I just couldn’t understand what had happened. Then, months later, I heard about this. Now I figure it was the maltodextrin which I will always avoid if I know a product contains it. LMNT should be more forthcoming with the ingredients although it wouldn’t have helped me initially because I didn’t know I had a problem with that additive and I probably would have ordered it anyway.
@@twinfin8571 I'm sorry you experienced this. It's in so many drinks, foods and supplements. I think it's even sprayed on some crops. I believe maltodextrin is one of the worst things you can consume. It needs to be removed like so many other unhealthy ingredients.
The same thing happened to me- b4 abdominoplasty! I had to get cleared by an oncologist with my blood and eventually I got the surgery. I was grateful to my doctor for being cautious.❤
A tip for dealing with scars after surgery: 3 times a day massage a good quality hand cream into your scars and they will not become thick and dark. They will turn white and remain relatively elastic. I had surgery just over 3 years ago when I fractured my kneecap and shattered the tibial plateau. My occupational therapist told me to do this otherwise I would have a lot of discomfort and issues with my scar, which is about 10 inches long. I did this, and have not had any problems with my scar.
🌴Myra, ( Pumpkin ) , you made the right choice, if you would of had it done and things didn’t turn out like you wanted , you could have emotional scarring 👈🏼 to go with the ones you already had , along with a healthy body goes a healthy mind , you made changes with your body and now with your way of thinking , so 👍🏼👍🏼two thumbs up ,once you feel like everything is normal you go get the surgery gal .
What a gift! To learn about your anemia before it got serious (and it can!) and be able to be proactive about your health. If you hadn't had this surgery scheduled, you may not have known for some time. I had dangerously low iron levels, but thankfully my supplements helped before I had to be hospitalized! And I'm sure you're doing everything to get yours back up there in the green zone! :)
I also struggle with low iron. I take beef liver capsules but its just not enough. I would love for you to share more on this if you find out what things are good for bringing it up!
Make guava and red bell peppers juice. It’s excellent to boost your Iron. Take fresh guava and red peppers and blend with water, strain and drink daily. Hope this helps
Anemia does not self correct and the cause needs to be identified and treated. A hematologist has the subject matter expertise to know what blood factors to test for. It is the great misnomer that folks treat this as innocuous. 😮 Wishing you all the best!
You are so right, @felicerobinson. My sister was in serious condition for a few days til the reason was identified. As you stated it is not innocuous. I hope people listen to you!
I was showing the same signs but my doctor had suspicions so had me do a colonoscopy and endoscopy …then also a specialized blood test which showed I had Crohn’s disease. With medication and proper diet…I’ve been in remission for a long time. My doctor was very good about first having me do labs at different times of the month to see if it was due to a heavy menstrual cycle but decided to check more and she was right to do that. If you leave things left alone you can have more problems down the line that might not be reversible…I know of people that developed dementia because they lacked certain B vitamin due to poor absorption in the Gi track…mind blowing. Please take care Myra ❤
After bariatric surgery, my iron is low. My bariatric NP told me to my calcium chew will interaction with my iron supplement. To take my multivitamin with iron a few hours later. Will have my iron levels rechecked in about a month.
✌️ You'll get it done. Before I had my surgery, they put me on 3 sublingual tablets a day because I was so borderline anemic that they wanted to put me on a drip! Then they told me that I would have to be on 3 a day for the rest of my life... still worth it, and yes I eat a lot of meat! I also figured out that if I mix spinach, kale, and parsley together in a side dish or in "the green protein shake" it boosts my iron almost immediately - within 10-15 minutes! I feel the difference! You should add that to one of your strawberry kiwi drinks or something along those lines. Good luck with your journey. I'll be needing corrective surgery too! And keep doing what the doctor says too!!! ✌️❤
I'll just say be grateful you have the $ for surgery ❤️ I just found out I have diastasis recti that I can't fix on my own and am trying! I look and feel 3 months pregnant all the time and it's soo frustrating as I'm thin but don't look it if you look at my tummy 😭 So I was told it can be fixed for $10,000!!! What normal person can afford that?!! I'm soo depressed cause this is something that doesn't go away no matter how hard I work and I work hard at exercise and staying fit. It has caused body dysmorphia for soo long and controls my life and it seems like it will forever. Anyway...be grateful you can afford the surgery whether or not you cdd as n have it....
I don't understand why so many electrolyte powders contain so much sodium and so little potassium. We need twice as much potassium as we need sodium. A 2/1 ratio. And you can always consume additional sea salt if your body needs it. The one in the video contains 1,000mg of sodium and 200mg of potassium. It should be the other way around. Hi! Happy to hear you’re doing what’s best for your body and excited to see how you do to get back in good health 😊 What supplement are you taking to hydrate your skin? I drench in lotion and it absorbs so quick and my skin still looks kinda ashy 😅
My iron was waaaay low last year and I had to have iron infusions. Boy! Talk about regaining my energy!! So much better. The hemotologist is keeping an eye on it. I also have a lot of scaring from lots of surgeries, but I just can't think of surgery to get rid of them. I'd probably just scar again from those surgeries! Not worth it.
Good for you for putting yourself first. We should always go into scheduled surgery when we are at our best possible lab levels. So many people don't put enough importance on healing. When I had weight loss surgery one of the things my surgeon impressed upon me was to relax, take care of myself, and listen to my body but most importantly, take my pain medication as scheduled. He said, "Don't try to tough it out. If your body is using up resources to fight the pain that means those resources aren't being used to heal." I'm sure you'll raise your iron quickly with your new regimen and look forward to hearing your updates.
I always had a problem with my anemia. This year for the first time in 20 ys my iron levels were normal, what I've done differently is taking prenatal vitamins and taking an iron supplement call Low Fe. I'm beyond excited because at one point I had to get Venafor IV infusions bc of the low levels. Its best to be cautious you made the right decision to cancel
Have you tried Geritol? It taste terrible but works wonders for anemia and borderline anemia. Be careful though cause people do get pregnant easier while taking it idk 🤷🏽♀️ ❤
It’s good you postponed. When I was about 65, I was scheduled for my second knee replacement surgery. I had my first about 5 months before. The same thing happened to me…I was ready to go, when the surgeon and anesthesiologist came in and told me that while I wasn’t anemic, my hemoglobin, which is apparently sort of like a “reserve,” (as it was explained to me) had not yet come back to the number it was prior to my first knee replacement surgery. The surgery was postponed so they could run some test to see if I was somehow bleeding internally, perhaps from the stomach. They never found any bleeding, and a couple of months later, even though my hemoglobin number still wasn’t as high as they thought it should be, I had the second surgery. It went fine. My hemoglobin has never risen to the level it was before my first knee surgery. Go figure! But, I felt good about them being so cautious. Your surgery will come in its right time! 🌸
I loved Keto & Low Carb - but my health has steadily been improving on Carnivore. I was anemic with each of my 3 pregnancies and my cycle was always so heavy and painful. Since Jan 2024 cycle is so much more manageable and my breathing and thyroid are improving significantly. I never wanted to eat just meat, I thought that it was crazy and boring, but I feel so much better and meals are a breeze! I hope your iron improves and you can get the surgery you want.
i would've never even known if you hadnt mentioned it that you had scars or that you ever had surgery i would just leave it alone it should not be that big of a deal you are beautiful as you are
Hola Mayra, healthy tip. Drink guava juice with red bell peppers. It’s excellent for anemia. Take fresh guava and red bell peppers blended with some water and drink daily. I promise it will bump up your platelets in days. Hope that helps.
I get hypertrophic scars too and they can get painful. I’ve had multiple large lumpectomies and each incision developed them. I went to my dermatologist and he injected some sort of cortisone/steroid in them. After a few weeks I noticed the scars decreasing and within a few months they were so much better. They are still there but not ugly, raised and red.
Have you ever been tested for celiac disease? I've struggled with anemia on and off since I was a teenager and doctors always blamed menstruation even though my flow was normal. Turns out I actually had celiac disease and only found out after decades worth of damage to my intestines and other serious issues popping up - despite me barely eating any gluten. Worth digging into!
I have anemia too, taking iron every day, no periods i’m on the pill and taking it through. No idea why I have it but the pills help me! Hope you can get the surgery in the future❤
My mom's doctor told her in her 20's to drink coco and hot water with no sugar to combat low iron, and I looked up organic molasses and it too will do the same. When my sister was young she was low in iron and she took something similar to molasses, it was in a liquid medicine form back then that she took, and days after taking it she started to eat again becauseshe did have a loss of appetite. Also beet juice, and fruit smoothies with spinach, ripe banana and water is good too.
I would not have had the surgery either Myra. Just wait until everything is 100% because it is better safe than sorry. I know how excited you were but it will be fine when you wait.🙏
WELLLLL, it Didn't take me long to start 😭😭😭😭. I Thank TMH (GOD) for your doctors and staff for doing their work. Damn, I need a drink to calm me down right now. You're such a Smart Girl and you made the Right Decision, and I Love you for this. THANK YOU FOR BEING SUCH A GREAT EDUCATOR LADY. 💯🥰🧡✨
@lemonpixels You DO know that the point of knowing your iron is low is to prevent complications? I had low iron for years. I still have all my limbs, and I'm not interested in any problems that might bring. Why are you here? Wait, no, I know...for the attention. You're desperate for human interaction, and I know I'm right because you're going to reply to me. Just being a hater is way too simple.
I’m a life long blood donator & when young did suffer from low iron. The blood center staff told me to eat Cream of Wheat. I know it’s not Keto but it really boosted my iron a ton. Not that I’m “old”, am retired & no more periods I never have that problem. I do eat a more Ketovore diet which is my prescription for health.
your doctor can prescribe an iron infusion that will boost you up to normal levels really fast. I had weight loss surgery and i have to go for the infusions once or twice a year because of the malabsorption of my particular surgery (roux n Y)
I was anemic due to heavy periods caused by fibroids. I am not much of a red meat eater, but started eating it because it contains heme iron. I also had veggies containing iron and beets. I supplemented with iron pills and vitamin C. I had robotic myomectomy in June. But soon afterwards, my iron levels were up. I’m glad you didn’t go through surgery until your body is well-enough. I had robotic, and it still look months to recover. But everyone is different. Hope all goes well for you, and anyone going into surgery.
Mayra, you made such a quality decision!! Just because you technically could do something doesn’t mean it’s always a good idea!! Being 100% is always better than being 85%, and I commend you for your decision-making.
Low Iron causes heavy cycles. I have had to take prescribed iron before. I take iron pills now, but I will see my doctor this week, and he will let me know if its better or not.
I had iron infusions but then to keep my levels up and maintain, I’ve been taking Simple Heme iron and Grass Fed Beef Liver supplements and my iron is PERFECT now. I had bariatric surgery so my iron was an issue because I don’t absorb the same as a “normie.”

They are beautiful imperfections just like us as humans are. No one and nothing is perfect. Security and happiness is a mindset. I wish you all the best youve come so far! Your amazing!
I'm glad you listened to your intuition! And that's a good point, it's important to know our lab numbers like our iron levels.
Thank you for being responsible ❤❤❤ I look forward to more days with you- I know you’re family is thankful as well 😊
Sounds like you made the right choice Mayra. Better to be fully prepared and safe. Take good care!❤
I'm anemic and always have to take Slow FE before surgery...I feel ya. Hang in there!
The same thing happened to me- b4 abdominoplasty! I had to get cleared by an oncologist with my blood and eventually I got the surgery. I was grateful to my doctor for being cautious.❤
Thanks for sharing Mayra. Best to avoid the surgery until you have your iron levels up.
I appreciate you sharing about the importance of electrolytes. It’s been life Changing in my house hold…. I wish more people know about this
@@cerissabrown3487 Electrolytes but not the brand she recommends bc of maltodextrin which is disguised as natural flavors !!!!!!!!!!
Great comments for you to help with your skin: glad you have not done the surgery. Thank you for sharing this with us ❤
I hope you feel better and get well soon. Take care and you do you!
Glad you went with your instincts!
Thanks for sharing. Do you use cast iron pans for cooking? Try it !
Yep just saw Eric Berg video showing they lied on ingredients.
@yanirisencarnacion04 thank you!

Anemia does not self correct and the cause needs to be identified and treated. A hematologist has the subject matter expertise to know what blood factors to test for. It is the great misnomer that folks treat this as innocuous. 😮 Wishing you all the best!
I had anemia for years due to malabsorption as a celiac .
Took heme iron and vit c with meals. Next bllod test all was perfect.
Can it be from her gastric bypass years ago?
Yes that makes sense. I have low iron too and I'm always tired. I can't even donate blood
It's best to take an iron tablet that contains vitamin C and folic acid to help with iron absorption ❤
There are things like grains and vegetables that can block the absorption of iron. I would do a lot of red meat carnivore for a few weeks.
Would adding more red meat help with iron?
Remember all thing work together for your good!!!💌
I'll just say be grateful you have the $ for surgery ❤️ I just found out I have diastasis recti that I can't fix on my own and am trying!
I had arm surgery because my arms just always sucked. I almost died. Spent 4 days in hospital. I hope you are well.
Can’t drink LMNT down. WAY too salty. I do Ultima Replenisher instead which is so much better imho.
I drink Dr. Berg's Electrolytes. What a difference it makes for me.
...and it contains maltodextrin...🙄
Good decision… be healthy and strong before surgery ❤
What supplement are you taking for dry skin & hair?
What supplement do you take for skin dryness?
You are smart and lady , you did the right thing, I keep you in my prayer, you will come back strong as ever , take care ❤️
I think you did the right decision in postponing. What supplements do you take for dry skin and hair?
Cook your meals with a cast iron skillet to increase your iron levels 🙂
thanks for the update sorry you didn't have it but it's better to be safe than sorry. take care and let me know when you do go all the way.
My daughter has low blood pressure and also takes Mary Ruth liquid iron. It's been a life changer for her as far as energy...
i would've never even known if you hadnt mentioned it that you had scars or that you ever had surgery i would just leave it alone it should not be that big of a deal you are beautiful as you are
So glad you made such a wise decision!!
I am glad you put the lmnt and others in your podcast because I can't find descriptions and can play it over again to get info😮
I recommend you try a beef organ supplement to boost iron.
Hola Mayra, healthy tip. Drink guava juice with red bell peppers. It’s excellent for anemia. Take fresh guava and red bell peppers blended with some water and drink daily. I promise it will bump up your platelets in days. Hope that helps.
Good luck too you! Love your recipes ❤❤ can I ask what supplements you are taking for your skin and hair hydration?
Good decision 🥰 Take care 🙏
wtf
Get a grip. She hardly has low iron readings, she hasn't lost a leg or something. She did this video just to push her own ad.
Im glad you made a heslthy, wise decision ❤
I was anemic due to heavy periods caused by fibroids. I am not much of a red meat eater, but started eating it because it contains heme iron. I also had veggies containing iron and beets. I supplemented with iron pills and vitamin C. I had robotic myomectomy in June. But soon afterwards, my iron levels were up. I’m glad you didn’t go through surgery until your body is well-enough. I had robotic, and it still look months to recover. But everyone is different. Hope all goes well for you, and anyone going into surgery.
Consult your doctor but when I was pregnant I got anemic and I was told taking iron without folic acid you won’t absorb iron. Give it a think.
I have to go back to Dr next week. My blood work came back with basically no ferritin!
I am also low in iron as well as anemic. Please share your journey on getting those levels up please
I had iron infusions but then to keep my levels up and maintain, I’ve been taking Simple Heme iron and Grass Fed Beef Liver supplements and my iron is PERFECT now. I had bariatric surgery so my iron was an issue because I don’t absorb the same as a “normie.”
2:41 for why the cancellation
Thank you for your honesty 🫶🏻
LMNT has been found out to be so deceptive with their labeling. LOTS of maltodextrin that isn't declared.
Would you mind sharing links to these studies? I’m curious, I’m an LMNT drinker as well 😅
@arlemchowdhury6372 there are several YT videos and lots of other articles that reference the information. Recommend doing a search.
@@arlemchowdhury6372 I think it's the flavored ones.
It's all over TH-cam. Just not the channels that promote it lol

You haven't USED LMNT, clearly. Until you do, it's truly not a problem. I've used it without ANY negative effects.
