In all fairness the basic machine is Quite capable. If you plan on cutting More than a cord or two you're going To neef the hydraulic blade assist And the hydraulic in feed. We added Both and ended up at about $10,500. Both additional festures are really Worth the money. We cut about 15 Full cords a year and we really feel The assisting add ons are essential. Very solid hard performing machine.
Cheap pool noodles sold in most big box stores. most have a hole in the center split down 1 side to open them up then after that's on the hose and the offending sharp parts cover the noodle with a split 1 or 2 liter pop bottle so the squeak form the noodle don't drive you nuts and zip tie it together. If you desire a neater appearance but will cost a bit more use hard PVC home plumbing pipes split them with cutting wheel on a handheld grinder or a simple drill will work also. Just make a simple 3 board jig to clamp them in place to cut the split. I use both methods on a Jackson lumber harvester sawmill for 40 years now saves alot on hoses and hydraulic. Never did the math looks to be at minimum of 1 mile of hoses and holds 250 gallons of hydraulic fluids
Good review. 6 way splitter with that tiny wood. Your making kindling, not fire wood. 4 way at the most for that size. Not a bad machine for the price though. Good job showing the bugs in it. The wood I spit is 15 to 24 inch fir 20-23 inch lengths with a maul and sometimes wedge for the narley stuff. Put up 20 full cord a year. I'm turning 61 this year. Those machines are starting to catch my eye.😉 thanks for the vid.
Thank you for your honest appraisal and recommendations on your machine. Even giving the price to hold up to the demonstration for its worth. May you get many years of splitting from your investment.
i have the older version with the 20 ton i have done multiple mods on it including taking the pull down handle for the saw off and put a hydraulic cylinder in there to operate the saw. makes it way easier to operate. i tapped in to the line that runs the elevator and added a spool. they arent top quality thats for sure but beats a chainsaw and axe. close to 300 cords through mine
Hi Scotty - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. If you don't already know of him, check out Armands Highlife and tell him I say Howdy. He has run a similar machine for a couple of years and has rocked up some serious production on it. These machines are also on sale here for similar money and are a cost effective solution for folk who can source optimum logs for them.

If you turned those bolts around would the decreased profile maybe help prevent the wood catching. If they still catch, maybe grind the head at an angle leaving enough to still get purchase with a wrench but enough angle to prevent catching on the bolt head.
i've had this processor for about 3 years now with many mods to increase productivity. wouldn't recommend. just really underbuilt in critical areas using cheap components. i do about 50-60 cord a season. your better off saving up for a better designed and built machine.
My concerns and these might not be an issue for you 1. Made in China, is the quality ok? (This owner had a list of complains) 2. Can you get parts quickly? Especially those that wear out 3. Resale value, yes it’s cheaper, but it’s not a Japa, Cord King or Wallenstein
@@foxlake6750 The quality is not the best, but a normal firewood processor from a well-known manufacturer costs significantly more (almost 10x, I'm considering getting it directly from China, it costs 2k to 5k depending on the function). I live in Europe so I hope the hydraulic lines are easier to fix and I live on a farm so we can fix little things ourselves if something breaks. There are some smaller "resellers" in Europe, I think they buy 20+ straight from China and rebrand them so they can sell them under their name. They cost over 10k and from what I've read their post sale aren't the best either because they don't have spare parts to replace.
@@foxlake6750 Despite a few issues I’ve had, I LOVE this machine! anything over 12”, I pick up with my backhoe grapple and buck it up with a chainsaw, then toss it in to split it and load on the truck. My gf and I can cut, split and stack in the truck a full cord in about an hour very easily. If you have similar sized logs all ready to go, you could probably do between 2 and 3 in an hour. We had way more than enough firewood for both of my houses, my pole barn bar, and maple syrup before Labour Day!

btw im in canada and with the live deck and hydraulic feed it was north of $13,000 6 years ago
Those are all minor issues that can be fixed easy. If it had another roller or full length feed belt up closer to saw it would be a great processor.

All you have to do with hose that is worn is wrap it so it don’t wear if will be fine I would not change it for that little bit of wear.

I actually turned them around and replaced them with carriage bolts. Issue fixed!

Shame you have to lean over to start the machine as it makes sence to have the start button next to the operator as well as the emergency stop,!!
