Yes, that was just to safe some time. I could have done it all with the shaper but I figured this way was a bit quicker. I drew the pattern in illustrator and uploaded it into my shaper. Quick and easy
Fits well into my space, I painted the back green. It's very easy to customize just the back if that's something you want to do. I would suggest sanding it first before painting, I got a little impatient. The shelves th-cam.com/users/postUgkxM8H4CjCb79vzeyvgaFMdzmLm88oVFPMkare pretty small so keep that in mind if you're going to have it horizontal that some books won't fit. I like the snug look that it has. Good small shelf if you don't have much space, but not too small. Simple to put together, though you'll need your own tools, a screwdriver and a mallet/hammer, it's easiest to do with another person.
Don't know which I love more the way you create a beautiful and unique piece, the way you execute it or the way you edit the videos! Thanks so much it is a pleasure to watch!
Godzilla, wood working, sitting on the shelf sides to set the biscuits in place, wood block that says let glue dry, climbing a bookcase and a great smile at the end, equals a awesome video. I always wanted that Dormei Godzilla but I only had the 13 inch Imperial Godzilla, while I was a kid.
I just saw AW's video just a couple minutes before I watched your video, she was building a giant bandsaw mill. I'm so glad you uploaded a video on the same day, you made my day. I love you guys, I admire your work. you are a true role models for women makers. Keep it up.
You are super talented, competent have massive respect for the materials you use and watching you work is a pleasure. Watching someone do a job with the right tools and the right skills is always fantastic. Keep up the awesome work
Great video, love the design of the steps to aid getting at the higher shelves. Think Smudo helped holding the wood steady while you measured and marked up. 🐕😀👍
First, beautiful bookcase, and the fact that you can climb up is is is grrrreat! Second, not one, but two, gadgets I've never seen before. This space age router thingy, and the Festool mortiser are both wicked cool! Third, Driving the assembly together with the Butt-Compression process made me laugh out loud. And fourth, you have the sweetest dog. Thanks again for the great video.
I do have drills and different Kreg pocket hole jigs. I guess I can make my bookshelves with these and just use pocket holes to secure everything. I need to get that pocket hole plug cutter though to plug the wholes up after I am done.
We weren't sure where you were going with the steps, but it all made sense at the end. Great story telling, great idea, and it turned out looking fantastic!
gorgeous design, and i kept thinking "what's that for.... OHHHTHATSAWESOME" especially when i realized that it had built in steps at the end. love your videos, thank you for being inspiring. :)
I'm really curious about your process/planning with the Shaper Origin. Did you switch to jigsaw+pattern bit to save time and effort?
Great video!
Yes, that was just to safe some time. I could have done it all with the shaper but I figured this way was a bit quicker. I drew the pattern in illustrator and uploaded it into my shaper. Quick and easy
This was my favorite part. Precision from the CNC and speed from its guide.
@@laurakampf I wondered this too. thanks for clarifying
I’ve never seen that tool before - witchcraft haha! Literally magic.

Very cool idea to incorporate steps into a tall bookshelf! I’ve never seen that before but that makes complete sense. 🤙
Just don't forget to secure it to the wall/ceiling/floor. :D
The genuine pleasure and joy on your face as you work stands you out! Beautiful piece!
Putting oil on the wood and see the final look is the most satisfying part I think... :)

Builds like this are why I subscribed to this channel.
I love the seemingly effortless way in which you come up with elegant designs and then bring them to life.
