Agreed. Back in the 2000s/early 2010s I would've considered a decent 7/10 to be a fun weekend, but with how much time and money people have to sink into a single game now, a lot of people don't wanna take chances on anything less than an 8. Also feel like "sponsored" reviews have increased over time, and the standards for ratings have inflated because of it.
I would definitely have included the whole Darksiders series on this. I LOVE the series and would kill for a proper fourth game, but they're definitely all in that 75-79 percentile range.
@@Bman32x nah it already is better like 8.5-9/10. Venom should have gotten more screentime yes but gameplay for Venom? Sure but I think they put one Venom gameplay section because they want to see if the fans love that mission. If they did then they would do more Venom is a spin off game. MJ segments are less annoying and it's still the same amount as the first one which is 3.
Spiderman 2 (2023) was the first time I ever bought a game at launch. Literally the first day. I just beat the game last week because for some reason, I just didn't care anymore about the story. I got tired of the padded-out boss fights too, and all of the collectibles and sidequests they kept adding in before I even got started on the ones that they just introduced. And honestly, Harry Osborn as a character (at least in this) is insanely boring. Kraven was the high point of the game. The Venom stuff got old for me after a while.
I really loved Hellblade 2, my biggest annoyance was that I had to go out of the way to download a mod because they couldn't just give us some display options.
A favorite not perfect game of mine: Alpha Protocol. Some character upgrade paths just didn’t blend together, some characters are walking tropes, but the story is just fun, the dialogue, both acting and choices, are beyond fun, and the variety of consequences you could experience lent well to repeatability.
Mad Max is one of my favourite games and I give it a replay a few times a year. Until Dawn is a great party game if you play it with friends and assign (or draw from a bag) a character for each person and pass the controller around whenever the on-screen controllable character switches.
I have a suggestion for a list: "Best/Funniest lines of dialogue repeated over and over by enemies during firefights." Or if you want a more specific one, "Best/Funniest 'Oh, no; we're losing!" lines repeated by enemies during firefights." Stuff like Tomb Raider 2013's "She's kicking our asses" & "She's just one girl!", Far Cry 3's "He's slaughtering us!" or Hit Man's "He's going for headshots!" There are a lot more that I can't think of right now. There is one where they say "We're getting killed out here!" but I can't remember what game it is from.
