Prime example of letting kids enjoy being kids and not putting so much pressure on them to be great at 16 and 17 where they don't put the emphasis on education like they should and don't have a plan for life after ball...
I thought the story sounded like a possible critical blood sugar (diabetes or the reverse) issue and thought jumping to drugs was wrong as well. And it’s a wonder all these guys aren’t on pills the way they’re made available to keep them playing. Thanks for jumping in.
@d.l.d.l.8140 Seriously, they give it away like candy. Crazy cause he obviously took pain medication, but they never mentioned that he had a prescription for the same meds found in his system.
Happens to most high school athletes. Most young athletes are only better when they're young because they're just so much bigger, faster and stronger than everyone else. Once they get older and are playing with guys that are just as physically strong but also have exceptional talent, they can't keep up anymore.
Former Arkansas QB Matt Jones drafted in first round as a WR with similar size and athleticism as Megatron. Urban Meyer was quoted as saying he was the best player in the SEC his last 2 years.
Omg. As a long suffering Jaguars fan , this comment triggered my PTSD. Matt Jones being picked by Jaguars with Aaron Rodgers still on the board!!! Matt Jones was a project that was projected to be a 3rd or 4th rounder.
@@LILBIGMAN03 That seemed kinda like a bad move to me at that time.Being switched to wideout in the NFL is a different beast. This is coming from a dolphins fan born and raised in FL.

hey matt! you should do a follow up video on zion harmon! a lot of these videos you’ve been making recently are about the fall off, but how about one about someone who fell off and is now actively trying to bounce back? just a suggestion and i love the videos man keep up the great work!
Brian Burghdorf, former Alabama Quarterback and Sugar Bowl MVP for beating Florida 24-10 by running for one TD and threw for two more TDs. My suggestion Matt.
Blows my mind that Thompson actually scored 101 on 247’s scale to 100. How does this happen, I would be less surprised to see a player with a 0 grade!!
I admire and appreciate the hard work of putting these videos together and the time it takes to do so. But can do without the baby talk in every video lmao😂

As an Alum this was sad and disappointing. I actually looked him up a few times after he left. And like you, was shocked when he entered the daft after three years! Hope he’s doing well wherever he is!!
Arch Manning getting roasted for not opting in to the college football game I understand why to we need video on that Matt seems like arch manning think he to good for the game making it seem like he is focused on football not the game when it takes two minutes to literally opt in on your phone guess he is worried about hurting the manning name as a second stringer on texas football team
The Canadian Football League is very old and very honored. They have 12 men on the field and only three downs. There's no such thing as a fair catch. The field is wider, 110 yards long, and the end zones are 25 yards deep. You get one point for punting the ball beyond the end line. They have a limit on the number of imported players you can have on a team and a lot of the Canadians are linemen so you need to really show something to make the team. Maryland uses a lot of non-qualifying players after they put some years getting their academics together in junior college or FCS schools. This young man needed to go to an FCS School. Edmonton is an oil producing city. It's large considering how cold it is. They have the world's largest indoor mall and you can watch the Edmonton Oilers practice from within the mall. Wayne Gretzky played most of his NHL career for the Edmonton Oilers.
The sad thing is there are approximately 3,000 athletes across the country and only 1% of them will play collegiately or professionally and this young man just fell through the cracks because he was not cut out to play on the next level is all. Got to have the right mindset as well as athleticism combined! It is sad to watch him wash out according to your assessment it is not uncommon to see it happen nonetheless!
If I'm not mistaken the Edmonton Eskimos have won 14 Gey Cups, the Canadian equivalent of the SuperBowl. Warren Moon started his pro career there after not being drafted into the NFL and won 5 Grey Cups before he signed with the Houston Oilers.
I thought this same thing. I know some people are like "well people prescribe them so they can't be too bad" but it is. They're horrible and stolen many lives
Can you imagine the expectations being 16-17yrs. old grading a 101 and everyone telling you that you were gonna be the best to ever play the position? I feel bad for the kid!

As a BC Lions fan, I can tell you that Edmonton sucks. Also they had to change their name to the Edmonton Elks because somebody(nobody) thinks "Eskimos" was too offensive.
Sure hope it wasn’t a blood sugar issue. That would be a possible explanation for what I heard, including the declining production. When you can’t go %100 in practice your physical advantage is gone and you’re lucky to be able to play professionally at any level. The larger question is where that large Canadian city I’ve never heard of came from.🧐
You said the name wrong first. And Edmonton is like the Boston Celtics of the CFL. Warren Moon played there and they won multiple championships. So I ask how much do you really know about football? Not much it seems.
I wonder why your first thought was drugs. Yes, that's a strong possibility. But you know the young man was making his way through life by crashing into equally strong of stature young men multiple times a day. That stuff does tend to accumulate over time. I believe a combination of head impacts and, yes, help with different substances worked equally to stunt this young man in the prime of his life. You could also jump to the big fish from a small pond being dumped into a much bigger pond with other fish the same size as him. THAT, has taken down many more young hopefuls than drugs or successive combat blows to the skull!
Plenty of guys like this, obv they cant all be ranked #1. I mean i played high school football with 6,1" corner that ran a 4.22, wasnt recruited cause he barely played cause he stayed in trouble.
