    I could reach back to the prefix 'mis-' when we say the words 'misuse, misplace, misconduct, misbehave, mislead, mislay,-----' . It means 'bad, wrong, not-advantageous',and faulty'.

    What is the difference between acknowledge and admit ? Please provide examples 🤗

    • @bbclearningenglish
      @bbclearningenglish  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Mariam Mahmoud! The main difference here is whether the person is doing so unwillingly. You can acknowledge something and it is not that much of a big deal, but 'admit' often appears when there is something like an accusation or discovery of something that has happened that might be negative. So 'He acknowledges that his website does have some privacy concerns' - he sees the situation and recognises it. 'He admits that his website keeps data on your browsing history' would mean that this fact has been discovered and he is agreeing that it is true, even if he doesn't want to. Hope that helps make sense of these two verbs!

    ⚠️ There are many life ramifications to this decision. I could be a Celta tutor.

    ⚠️ I know the stakes are high, but I must believe in myself.

    Thanks for always offering this very very useful program.
    I love News Review much the same as 6 minutes english among all the BBC leaning
    english programs and this video, unlike 6 minutes eng, enables me to watching them talking, which I think is so great and really ideal for most of the englsh learners that they can observe their facial expressions or mouth movements.
    but I’m perplexed by one thing.
    I can't make sure whether or not I'm right, that they omit something or use any contractions or whatever after watching this !
    I wish they had transcripts of this program on their website as in 6 minutes eng or simply had subtitles on here at youtube. that'll do.
    maybe they think it's better not to do so for advanced learners or some sort of copyright matter with materials from others(it can't be helped, though), I know, but I feel the above-mentioned will make this excellent program perfect.
    Would you please do that, BBC!!

    • @bbclearningenglish
      @bbclearningenglish  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comments. We're glad you love our programmes. Unfortunately News Review does not have subtitles because it is an unscripted conversation which is tricky to transcribe. It's also gives you a chance to improve your listening skills.

    • @soft76cider
      @soft76cider 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      oh, I see. unlike scripted one such as 6 minutes english, News Review is with an unscripted conversation. thanks for your information.
      and as for subtitles/cc on youtube, so far, I've understood it works automatically with voice recognition, not transcribed(in that case, I’m being too demanding, surely), and even if that is correct or somewhat wrong, it doesn’t matter, it will be enough for me.
      …I'm afraid maybe I'm saying something wrong. what I'm saying kind of doesn't make any sense to you, does it? I have no idea how that subtitles/cc function works.
      I also thank you for advice, but unfortunately, even though I tried and tried to pay attention to what they say many times, I still have some problem with making out them. I feel no matter how hard we english learners try, we hit a brick wall, which is rather high.
      anyway, I think BBC’s learning english program is superb, superior to similar programs including CNN student news and I’m always surprised and impressed by how you create new, excellent programs one after another…But please don’t discontinue long-lasting ones, especially 6 minutes english and News Review ! (and I hope Neil will continue a whole lot longer after Finn was gone. I miss Finn. Where is he? he and Neil was my favorite.)
      I always look forward to watching your great programs !
