    Excellent. It's been about 30 years since I've framed a floor. This is a great refresher. I'm about to start building a tiny home. Only 10 by 16 feet, and I want it sturdy. Thank you.

    For those looking for his info on his footers. He has no frost line so only needs to be 12" deep. He has another video with more detail.

    Nicely done Stan really admiring your work on this especially when you make a mistake right at the end and laugh it off, me the nail gun and everything on me would have been the other side of the garden and i would have to take a breather to make sure that nothing else is a mistake again 😅😂
    I am really enjoying this and it was defo worth the wait.

      Have an engineer draw up the plans you need.

    If you had taller piers - about six foot - would you still use blocks or round sono tube columns?

  • @tjbellow2492
    @tjbellow2492 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    why do we alternate the blocking in between the floor joists? From left to right the pattern alternates.

    • @simplyeasydiy
      @simplyeasydiy  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you didn't you would have to toenail each block.

    Do you know the load bearing value of your soil?

    • @simplyeasydiy
      @simplyeasydiy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      silty sand type soil. 3000psi.

    Why not sq across 6:21 full width of the 9.5 " ?

    I gotta do a 16 ft x 30 addition how big it’s the footer n how often ??

    Just looks so different not seeing any support in the center that would further support a "live load" of the structure. Id be worried in time the floor would sag in the middle. Im certainly the over engineer it kind of person.

      I'm not trying to be rude with my comment so please don't take it that way but, span charts are available for everyone to use. You can google them and find one pretty easily. It has nothing to do with "over engineering". It has everything to do with wasting time and money that doesn't need to be used. However, with that being said, someone can put as much "support in the center" as they wish. I actually cover "live load psi calculations in the video at some point. Have a great day.

    How far is your pier span.8 ft?

    • @simplyeasydiy
      @simplyeasydiy  ปีที่แล้ว

      4ft and 12ft. Determined by a code enforced span chart.

    Why no concrete blocks in the middle??

    I trust you went down at least to undisturbed soil, for footers.

      You were not paying attention. That is what a soil compaction test is for.
