Can we use any form of dumping load? Such as running Dc fans for home cooling system instead of getting the excess energy wasted?thanks

I don't see a problem with that. A dump load is just a resistor of 1 or two ohms.

There's lots of things you can use as a dumpload as long as it is reliable. Many people use a low voltage DC water heating element that goes in the water heater.

Would a small micro hydro generator work on the small wind controller even if it has just 2 red&black wires?

    • @freeenergyonshore2828

I think there is already a rectifier built into their generator. Do you measure DC or AC voltage at output wires?

I don't think it does, it's of those cheap $10 ones amazon you can buy. Im trying to make a off-grid system. Trying to hook it up a battery and inverter.

Hello, can you please help me. I have bought an Instabreeze 2kw 48v and I have a chinese Hybrid Controller 2kw 48v but it seems that it doesn't charge at all. When i connect only two wires it starts spinning and It shows that is charging but when i connect all 3 it slows down (no brake) and only charge up to 50w when outside are strong winds, no matter how strong they are the turbine is not spinning fast enough. The brake works fine and I had winds where it came active. I've tried to disconnect two wires, it starts spinning very fast when i connect the other two it still charging good for another minute then it slows down again for no reason, no break active. Thank you in advance. I have struggling for 1 month and still can't fix the issue.

xantrex maybe better, not mppt but better quality, mppt is pointless if you cant program a power curve tailored to the specific turbines characterisics.

Hi. I think you mean the brake doesn't hold the Ista Breeze wind turbine completely, right? (Sorry, my French is not very good) From I-1500 upwards it is not sufficient to short the windings for a complete stop. May you need a dump load. But even if the are turning slow it´s not an issue. For the blue controller you need an external brake switch

The blue controller is to be used with the dumpload connected, than it wil not get hot. I use it on my sailboat in very high wind and it is great!

Well, on a stormy day it is al about not getting to much. That is what this controller is very good at. Before i got this controller and dumpload i had to turn on heavy users to not hurt my battery's or tie of the turbine. The windturbine is 500w and i think it can do more. The place i am in now is sheltered so it is only doing something in North-West winds, i cant tell you exactly.@@dustinfrost5214

In order to change voltage for AC, you need a transformer which are big coils of wires around an iron core.
In order to change voltage for DC, you need a DC to DC converter which needs to have electronics, and a large Inductor which is also a large coil of wire around an iron core.
In order to have MPPT you must be able to change the voltage. There are no large coils of wire around iron cores in any of those controllers, therefore, none of them have MPPT.
Most of these Chinese companies making equipment are liars. There are only a couple of decent ones, and we should applaud them for their efforts by buying their equipment only.
One of the manufacturers has actually named themselves MPPT. Yes, really, they named themselves that. They put their name all over their PWM equipment purposely making people think they're buying MPPT controllers.

Ever heard of switched Mosfet circuits? No coils required. Welcome to the 21st century;-)

@@sudosu4133 Of course I've heard of them, but as far as I know they still need a coil of wire, although I could be wrong. I've never seen a real MPPT solar charge controller without a heavy coil of wire. it may have to do with the cost of the circuitry.
