Compared to Spring, this is a pretty harsh transition. So, very unlike October (and September of course), November is going to be cold and very often overcast (stratus). Now I'm thinking of another often overlooked factor that is potentially going to drastically decrease the amount of sunshine hours in late autumn: Topography. Many places in the high Alps are not going to see much sun in winter simply because of the mountains. So, if you're planning to hike in places such as Kandersteg, Lauterbrunnen or Engelberg (near the valley floors) in mid-November, then you should not expect to see more than a few hours of sun ...even during the nicest possible day.

Hi. I mentioned the dates of the colors of Autumn in this video. Since you are coming in November, I think this video here will be a lot more useful. I produced it one year later and managed to cover more aspects of this month. By the end of November, there will be very little colors left, as most of the leaves have fallen by then. I hope this helps: th-cam.com/video/oZuLucjf7xE/w-d-xo.html I wish you a great trip to Switzerland in November

Hi Nani. Up on 3500 meters there will be definitely snow! You chose expensive destinations for your trip; I hope you are aware of this. For some ideas of what to do during that time, you may want to watch my newest Top 10 Autumn video. It will serve as a great guide. Also bear in mind you are visiting only the bernese Oberland, which is only 1 region in Switzerland; just letting you know since you plan to stay for 1 month, you may want to see other regions as well...
Hi. I suggest the 2nd half of October, the colors are the best then! Also in October, caves and other attractions are still open, in November they are mostly closed!
Hi Djemo great video. I want to visit Zermatt either in October or November, but won't it be mostly foggy to see the Matterhorn? Seeing the Matterhorn is my main priority. Thanks.
Hi. Thanks. September October should be very good usually. I went to Zermatt in October: th-cam.com/video/Are905L2WC4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Fdwy1SWOcIgpQFZB It looked like Winter
Thank you for the amazing information.Could you tell me how is the weather and prices in September? And is everything rides, gondolas, restaurants open in September? Thanks in advance.
Hi Tanvi. It was my pleasure to produce this video. In general its still warm. Weather should be rather dry. September is a month where you can get cheaper deals. For example Herbstsonne ticket. Should usually be in the 2nd half. I assume teleferics should be open mostly.
Love your videos! My parents will be in Switzerland 7-23 Oct free & easy. Should they hit the Berner Oberland area first or the lower areas like Geneva & Ticino, in order to catch the best of autumn?
Hi Diana. I would suggest up from 15th October to visit the Alps. Valais and Graubünden are known for wonderful Autumns. I made new videos about Saoseo and also the vineyards at Ligerz. Ligerz is in the Swiss plateau: Jura 3 Lakes Region. I recommend to visit the Lavaux too!
Hi Samudi. I cannot predict it for this year. Usually the last 2 weeks of October are the most beautiful. However, this year, we had a very devastating drought due to the worsening global warming. Thus, I cannot assure you that this year it will be the same as usual. So far everything is still green. I suggest you to watch my Top 10 Autumn travel guide video, which is useful for you to know what places are the best to visit: th-cam.com/video/Cygi1o394gg/w-d-xo.html
I'm planning to enjoy peak autumn scenery yet a lot of cable car & other activities are also closed during that time 😞 Was looking at first cable car & mountain carts but its up until 23/10
Hi Rose. Yes, that's the downside of Autumn. But the beautiful Autumn season starts around 12th of October. So you have roughly 10 days. Some cable cars operate still after 23rd of October but on weekend days only.

Hi, This video was really helpful ! I am visiting Swiss for the first time and that is scheduled from Nov 10th - 18th Will the colours be available by then 😅 I wanted the greens, the colours and the snow capped mountains 😃
Hi. Thanks for your nice feedback! As I mentioned in the later part of this video, the Autumn peaks during different times up in the Alps or down in the plains. You are arriving when the season is about to be over. The larches sometimes are though quite lasting and might be still orange. You might be lucky, the peak of Autumn up in the Alps is however over for sure. Down in the plains, the colors might still be strong but also for these, the peak is usually earlier. I hope I could help.
Nice video and thank you for the advice. We are planning to go there in first week of October around Interlaken area . Would it be still great? Like would we still see the view without too much fog ?
Hi. First week of October Autumn won't be really noticeable, all is likely still green. Fog is unpredictable, it may be there or not. It's more likely to be there up from Mid-October but then again... it may be there already in early October. High up should be no fog in general. Weather cannot be planned in Switzerland, but one can work around it. I am sure you will have a great time.

Hi. Thanks for watching this video. The weather can never be predicted. As I outlined in the video, you need to expect that it may also rain. It's though unlikely that it will rain on every day.
Hello from Malaysia, I'm planning to visit Switzerland in either August or 2nd week of September with my mom. We r not interested in hiking but love to see beautiful nature scenes and mountain views. Any suggestions when would be perfect month please? Thanks and have a nice day.
Hii. These weeks are good for hiking as you often have clear skies. You may think of doing the sunrise tour at the Eggishorn. However be aware the August and September are still part of Summer. Thus, you won't have any of these Autumn colors, which only set in during Mid-October.

Hi. I am going to Swiss from 31 Oct to 5 Nov. This are the three cities that I will be visiting which are Zurich 1N, Lucerne 2N and Interlaken 2N. I most likely will be going to Mt Pilatus, Jungfrau, probably 1 or 2 lake ride and 1 or 2 museums. On 5 Nov, I am going to travel from Interlaken to Italy, Milan. Base on above, which is better Travel Pass or Half Fare pass? Thank you in advance for your valuable advice.
Hi, We are planning to visit Switzerland thus year 2022 in the month of October between 15-25. Can you please suggest places and if we will be able to witness snowfall? Mount titlis will be open?
Hi Niks. In general snowfall is not common in October. However, I suggest you to visit places that are above 2500m. Zermatt, Saas-Fee, Fiesch are safe choices. Jungfraujoch too. Theres usually eternal snow.
BTW, Indian Summer isn't about the Fall colours. What it is: Often, in October, we get a week of weather warmer than the previous weeks. (a lull before the 'storm!)
Hi Grace! That's fantastic to know! Thank you very much for the correction. I just recorded this right for the video I am going to post next year. This time mentioned correctly, and the last 2 days were really warm as you outlined :)
Hello! I am planning a 4 day trip to Switzerland late November 2023 (19-23rd). Do you have any suggestions for me? I am the kind of person who likes to stay away from the crowd, shoot a lot of aerial views and just get lost in the nature. Also trying to make this budget friendly.
Hi Asif. Thank you for your comment. It's very nice for family and kids. Regarding the weather, as I mentioned in the video, it's not predictable. However, there are some hacks, which I have shared in the video how to work around bad weather :)
Hi Jayden. That's great! 31st Oct, all should be open still, normally. Jungfraujoch and Pilatus, I think should be open on a 365 days basis, or almost. Thus, please check on the respective websites to be sure.
@@DjemoGraphic Hi Sir thanks for your reply. Will there be good weather during this period? I hope no rain no fog. and beautiful red and yellow leaves.
I am planning to come to Switzerland. What's the weather in September ( From 15th to 25th September ). Is it too cold or snowy or cloudy ? Can you please advice Sir ?
Hi, we are planning a fall trip to Switzerland and wanted to do 5 lake walk with larches. However it seems like gondola will be closed in October 8. Can you please tell me if that time will be good to see larches all over Switzerland? We read mid October is perfect. Don’t know how to go to Grindjisse lake without gondola that time. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks😊
Hi. You can hike from Sunegga to Grindjisee in worst case. October 8 is likely too early for the golden larches. I was in Zermatt on 20th October in 2020, the larches were golden then. But Im not too sure how it wud be at the Grindjisee. You may want to ask the Zermatt tourism board.
Hi. There is never a certainty regarding the weather, in any month. It's early Autumn still, so the color change may not be that visible. The leaves are slowly starting to turn yellow but overall it looks mainly green still. Hope that helped.
Pls share some inputs about dressing up for 1st fortnite of nov considering I am frm the tropics and not very accustomed to extreme colds.I will be travelling to zurich and the alps
Hi. I suggest the onion principle: wear a singlet, t shirt, pullover, jacket. Depending on how warm you feel, e.g. if too warm, you may take off the jacket or even the pullover. The weather may change suddenly in the Alps, the wind can suddenly blow and u feel cold
Wonderful tips....Is Switzerland good to visit in October end along with Austria....For 12 nights....How is Austria in October end...Plan to travel to Austria and Switzerland in October end with my family from India.... Kindly reply....

Hi. Yes, it is. I am from Switzerland. Thanks, yeah Bangladesh is cool. I visited in 2017, almost exactly 3 years ago, last week of Nov :) Can't wait to come back. Nice to hear to have a great fan :) Dhonnobad :)
My husband and I are thinking of traveling to Switzerland in early November this year 2021. We love hiking and that is what our main activity would be. Are there still a lot of trails open the first two weeks of November?
Hi. For this year's first week of November, there might be still a lot of colors of Autumn. Thus, you may be lucky seeing the colorful forests, especially in the northern part of Switzerland and in Ticino and Southwest. The Larch forests (Lärchenwälder) might be turning brown soon, but I don't know how much longer they can carry the needles; maybe it's still another 2 weeks. Hiking trails are open, as long as there is no snow. Certain cable cars may not operate except on weekends. Please check on the respective websites.
Hi, your video was quite nice 😁.We are planning to come from 21 to 26th October. We want to do as below - 21 - Bern 22 - Mt Titlis 23 - Lauterbrunnen and Jungfrau 24 - Zermatt Matterhorn 25 - Geneva 26 - Zurich Rhine falls Is the above a good plan ? Will we get to see snow on the mountain tops considering the heat wave this year?
Very rushed an criss-cross trip schedule. You end up traveling more from A to B to C back to A instead of experiencing. I suggest to take Geneva out. Rhinefalls please visit from Neuhausen: More convenient to arrive. Please combine places so that you won't have to travel far. Bern and Lauterbrunnen are nearby. Try to keep travel time below 3h, even better below 2h. Please watch my Autumn video that I premiere this Monday. It will be useful to you :) I hope this helps.

thanks. where should i go in mountains in Switzerland if i am wish to travel there in November and if I have 2 children's (3 yrs girl and 8 yrs boy). Is it safe to be in Lautenberg. is travel easy? how do i reach there
Hi. November can be tricky, you need to really check if there are hotels that are open. Surely always make a reservation at the restaurants before you go for dinner! It's safe anywhere in Switzerland during any month. I googled Lautenberg and I got to know that there is no such place in Switzerland. Did you maybe mean Lauterbrunnen?
There are some upsides too. You can witness cloud inversion up in the Alps that is the most prevalent during that time. The first week also shows a lot of colors, which is great. And end of November there is Christmas season. It's not the best month but if you know some travel hacks, you can have a pretty good time in Switzerland during November even.
@@tubaggabut1304 It's usually around the dates mentioned in the video. Autumn starts earlier up in the Alps, you may instead visit Engadin, Bernina or Valais for that. There however, you will only have the golden Autumn. I may suggest you to watch my Lake Saoseo video. I went there on 24th October.
@@tubaggabut1304 down there probably you wont see too many colors during that time. But again, it always depends how sunny it is. The less sun, the earlier the colors set in. Interlaken is a good gateway to other places but not interesting for Autumn colors. Jungfraujoch is expensive, but if you can afford it, go for it. In my experience I would say Engadin, Bernina and Valais are best for Autumn colors during these dates.
@@DjemoGraphic looking forward to it. I’m planning to book my trip for sept end soon. Just worried about if the things will be closed and greenery will not be there
Hi. Not sure. Likely but not for sure. Depends on the amount of sun and weather. What I know is that this year the drought has caused many grass fields to dry out. The green is not so powerful anymore. Bear in mind, in October the waterfalls are not powerful.

Hi. It's a good time regarding the colors. I cannot promise you that you are going to experience sunny days, the weather can be unpredictable. If you haven't booked your trip yet. I can really recommend also going to Sils or Silvaplana. There you can see amazing Autumn colors!
Hi Arjun. I wonder whether you really need a tour operator. How many people will be in a group with you? Tour operators book tours with schedules and sometimes maybe you want to spend more time at a certain spot. Also it adds additional costs.

Hi. I mentioned the dates of the colors of Autumn in this video. Since you are coming in November, I think this video here will be a lot more useful. I produced it one year later and managed to cover more aspects of this month. By the end of November, there will be very little colors left, as most of the leaves have fallen by then. I hope this helps: th-cam.com/video/oZuLucjf7xE/w-d-xo.html
I wish you a great trip to Switzerland in November
Beautiful panorama the view is nice
Hi! I'm going to Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald and Adelboden from mid october to november 10th this year. I have never seen snow! I think I might be able to see some at the Jungfrau! We'll see, I'm super excited, first solo trip of my life
me too. first solo trip in mid october. so excited!
@@carlocapinpin3885 I hope you have an awesome time! do you think we'll see snow?
Have a great Solo Trip Carlo :)

Informative video good job I'm coming 😊
Thank you for sharing this video. What date would you prefer for a week in October November ?
Hi. I suggest the 2nd half of October, the colors are the best then! Also in October, caves and other attractions are still open, in November they are mostly closed!
@@DjemoGraphic Thank you so much sir for such useful information. ☺☺
Hey buddy. What’s mid-late September like? Still green? Or more like what you’ve displayed in this video?
Hey Ryan. Mid-late September it will still be green. Few leaves may have some yellow spots. Ill produce a video about it around June

Like your video very much. Do you recommend driving throughout the country as the mode of transport.? Visiting in the first 2 weeks of November.
Hi Djemo great video. I want to visit Zermatt either in October or November, but won't it be mostly foggy to see the Matterhorn? Seeing the Matterhorn is my main priority. Thanks.

Thanks and loved the Video :-)
Hi Prasad. Thank you! I hope it was useful :)
Hi Djemo, How about visiting end of October? Will it be the peak of Autumn this year?🍂
Thank you for sharing us your great videos.
Hi. My pleasure to share my experiences and knowledge with you :)
I'm planning to enjoy peak autumn scenery yet a lot of cable car & other activities are also closed during that time 😞
Was looking at first cable car & mountain carts but its up until 23/10
Hi Rose. Yes, that's the downside of Autumn. But the beautiful Autumn season starts around 12th of October. So you have roughly 10 days. Some cable cars operate still after 23rd of October but on weekend days only.
@@DjemoGraphic any recommendation on the best panoramic train for autumn? Is bernina good?

Hi,
This video was really helpful !
I am visiting Swiss for the first time and that is scheduled from Nov 10th - 18th
Will the colours be available by then 😅 I wanted the greens, the colours and the snow capped mountains 😃
I’m interested in these same dates. Since Autumn is surely over you say in the upper regions does that mean the snow winter has started? Less fog?
Also where would you recommend staying? Lucerne, Grind, interlaken, Lutheran ?
Nice video and thank you for the advice. We are planning to go there in first week of October around Interlaken area . Would it be still great? Like would we still see the view without too much fog ?
Hi. First week of October Autumn won't be really noticeable, all is likely still green. Fog is unpredictable, it may be there or not. It's more likely to be there up from Mid-October but then again... it may be there already in early October. High up should be no fog in general. Weather cannot be planned in Switzerland, but one can work around it. I am sure you will have a great time.
@@DjemoGraphic Great! Thank you so much for taking your time to help me! Huge relief 😮💨
I can’t wait to see Switzerland! God bless! Keep up the good work 👍🏼😄

hey im planning to go swiss from 3rd October until 12th October. Is it going to be all wet? I’ll spend my time mostly hiking at Jungrau region. Thanks in advance!!
Hi. Thanks for watching this video. The weather can never be predicted. As I outlined in the video, you need to expect that it may also rain. It's though unlikely that it will rain on every day.
Can we please know where did you film this video? the place looks absolutely beautiful! :) :)
Hi. Do you mean the place at where I was walking around while talking?
Thanks for the very useful information shared in this video.
Will definitely plan for an Autumn break in Switzerland
Hi Rajesh. Thanks for that awesome feedback. I hope you will have a great vacation during next Autumn in here :)
Hi Djemo, is it a good time to visit Switzerland in May? Thank you
Hi Sudesh. I made this video, which should answer all questions: th-cam.com/video/4nb8KkBk16I/w-d-xo.html
Have you ever made video about Thun Switzerland???
👌👌👌 For me , i love Switzerland when winter. 🥰🥰🥰
Hi Robiatul. Yes, I have recorded a video about Thun this May. But I have not published any of the footage yet.
@@DjemoGraphic thank you very much

Hi Tessa. Awww, thank you so much :)
Hi,
We are planning to visit Switzerland thus year 2022 in the month of October between 15-25.

Hi Asif. Thank you for your comment. It's very nice for family and kids. Regarding the weather, as I mentioned in the video, it's not predictable. However, there are some hacks, which I have shared in the video how to work around bad weather :)
Hi. Thanks for the video. I am going Swiss between 31 Oct to 5 nov. is mt pilatus and jungfrou open?

Hi. That's great. I hope you will have beautiful sunny weather and autumn colors!
Hi ! I'm going to Zermatt from 04 to 07 october: have any chance that i see snow ?
Hi. On the Kleinmatterhorn there should be! Hard to predict the weather
Hi,
I plan on going october 1st to october 8th, will it still be autumn or more summer? Is the weather still a gamble?

My husband and I are thinking of traveling to Switzerland in early November this year 2021. We love hiking and that is what our main activity would be. Are there still a lot of trails open the first two weeks of November?
Hi, did u get any information about ur question? if yes, plz share
Hi Hammad. I just answered Dre Lora :)
Hi, your video was quite nice 😁.We are planning to come from 21 to 26th October.
We want to do as below -
21 - Bern
22 - Mt Titlis
23 - Lauterbrunnen and Jungfrau
24 - Zermatt Matterhorn
25 - Geneva
26 - Zurich Rhine falls
Is the above a good plan ?

November is the most miserable month of the year. It's dark, it's cold and it rains alot.

@@DjemoGraphic my trip in 17-18 oct , but i will visit Grindelwald , Lauterbrunen & Interlaken , if i have more times i will go to jungfrau also
@@tubaggabut1304 down there probably you wont see too many colors during that time.

Will Lauterbrunnen still be green in the first week or second week of October??? I prefer to see the green
Hi. Not sure. Likely but not for sure. Depends on the amount of sun and weather. What I know is that this year the drought has caused many grass fields to dry out. The green is not so powerful anymore. Bear in mind, in October the waterfalls are not powerful.

Hi Arjun. I wonder whether you really need a tour operator. How many people will be in a group with you? Tour operators book tours with schedules and sometimes maybe you want to spend more time at a certain spot. Also it adds additional costs.
