Hi Chris. Yes, November is tricky here. Thank you very much for enjoying this episode. I know the Winter in the US is much colder because you have often wind from the north, that blows very cold air.
Hello. Thanks for the video. Today am in Kandersteig waking up to the beautiful mountain view. Many things are closed but the small town is still alive. As you stated, many of the small gondolas are closed. We decided to hike from the town to the mountain lake of Oeschinensee. Have you been here? Even in the fog it is beautiful. It is a nice hike and challenging due to the steep trails, but worth it for the view. It is swiss style and nothing is open until January 23rd. around the lake. Travel in off season here is profitable.
Yes. The weather is always something to be aware of for that time of year. There was a light snow the day before our arrival but the temperature was mild. The hike was easy but good for you to know it is a steady climb up a pathed path. Nothing was open at the top...so bring a snack if you need it. Well worth the view at the top. I would not hesitate to do it again. And there is nothing dangerous or tricky on the path.
November is a very tricky month, although there are certainly some advantages (for instance, the fact that you can potentially experience both the joys of autumn and winter). What matters is not to have too specific expectations like skiing in X or seeing the autumn colors in Y. With that state of mind there is a good chance of being seriously disappointed. This last week of November, autumn colors are still noticeable in the plains and there is snow above 1,500 metres. Temperatures are now winter-like. MeteoSwiss has a tool that could be useful for those who will have to book in advance: the Seasonal Outlook, which gives the trend for the next 3 months. If you see a warm trend, then the first half of November is more likely be quite autumn-like, therefore "not atrociously bad" for outdoor activities. If you see a cold trend for October and November, then you should expect more difficult conditions in early November already, and very few colors left.

You did highlight November travel but is the weather very similar the last week of Oct? We will be based in Zurich and taking day trips to Jong Frau, Zermatt and Lucerne. Thanks in advance for your reply
Hi. Thanks! The weather will be similar, the colors will shiny strongly during this time. I suggest to explore more of the Autumn places during this season. Lucerne is nicer during Spring and Summer, Zermatt you might want to do the 5 lakes trail to get the colors of Autumn, JFJ is less touristy in late October. Thanks for an informative guide. I still travel though aware always of the weather of my destination. This coming December still plan to go around and will explore the snowy places in Switzerland.
@@shahala8750 as long as you pack your child with the winter clothing. I have seen many roaming around with their infants in strollers but well-clothe for cold season. November is already snowing up in the mountains but still not too much on the valley below. Like in Zermatt, if it snows only for a few hours it's okay as it will melt soon, but if it continues for days even if it is only slight snow, it accumulates in the roads and hard for the strollers, but I think you can manage to have your baby by having him/her in your body baby-carrier. As of now here in Geneva it is 14°C, not too cold yet, but we seldom get a heavy snow here.
Maybe the major difference between this video and the previous video 'watch before travel' is that November is a month of culture? Thank you for all information. Anyone who see this comment please let me know if its worth a trip to Switzerland in November. Thank you.
Hi. If rain or fog is your main concern, probably central Europe during November is not the right time to be visited. I suggest traveling to South Europe might be cheaper. The good thing about November though is that many things are cheaper. And the Christmas markets in Switzerland start on the 22nd of November. I suggest you this video: th-cam.com/video/wOH-XDpxHS0/w-d-xo.html

This November, the Philippines is celebrating National Environmental Awareness Month. We must remember AWARENESS is the first step.ACTION is next ( before it's too late )
Good question! Some autumn colors are going to be still visible even after mid-November but only at a few spots (maybe cities or places that are not too exposed to the wind). In fact, even early December can still have a few colors left. But if you really want to see colorful landscapes in general, then I would be more conservative than Djemo and advice the first week of November only. Trees start losing their foliage in mid-October already and, depending on the year, mid-November landscapes can be really dull. Especially with the typical November uniform grey sky... Naturally, there are also other factors, like elevation. Now (17 November) colors have essentially gone in the Upper Engadine but they are still very present in the Chablais (note that autumn colors are late this year). So checking quality webcams is going to be helpful. The interactive foliage map of Switzerland Tourism will help too.
@@zachwillbeback It seems that the leaves are late this year. I will be in Switzerland on 11/04. Looking at the application and comparing it to past years, it seems that this year the burnt leaves are late. What do you think? Will I be lucky?
@@0CCS Honestly, I'm not really sure whether or not this is going to result in better November colors this year (search for "No, autumn leaves are not changing color later because of climate change", by Washington University for a hint) and I'd be very curious to see that. But in my experience, the first week has generally still a lot of colors left (and decent weather conditions, at least in Valais and the Lake Geneva area). In any case, by mid-November, you should typically expect cold temperatures and a thick stratus over the Plateau, so not autumn-like anymore, regardless of the colors.
Hi Djemo 🤗 Thank you for this great & useful content again, as usual. Love your videos, and the energy you're putting in it. If you allow me, I'd like to ask you something. I want to come to Switzerland (Bernese Oberland OR Valais) from France, end of October (28th to 01rst of November) and I would like to see the landscapes with their Autumn vibes & colors. Do you think that this year (Summer has been very hot & Sunny) the leeves and trees will still have their Autumn colors by the end of October in Valais Or Bernese Oberland (Launterbrunen) ? I know that in the mountains Autumn colors are ending earlier than in the plateau. And I guess that this year, it might be earlier than usually, due to the very hot & sunny summer we have had. Do you think Valais OR Bernese Oberland would be a good choice to see the very best of Autumn during the last days of October ? Thank you for your help.

Hi Renan. That's great to read! Yes, during the last days of November, some of the Christmas markets may be open. Usually Einsiedeln opens up for the first Advent weekend. I made a Top 5 Christmas Markets video that you may want to check in that case. About your activities, I fear it may be a bit rushed. Mount Titlis will be good for 1 day; same of Jungfrau and Luzern. Grindelwald also 1 day and then also your time you need to invest for traveling from A to B. I live all the way in the north in canton Schaffhausen.

Hello there. Im planning to visits switz in september or October. Which one is the best month to visit? Hopefully there is not much raining because we just had enough 🌧️ here in asia 🥲🥲 please advice!
Hi. September is usually less rainy. October depends. September is still summery and the days are long. Furthermore, September is a month of culture with many traditions being held. October is the month of color, but only after 15th... usually. The colors may also show earlier. Depends on the amount of sun and fog. Autumn in the Alps starts earlier. Last year it started late. This year it may be a bit earlier. Hard to predict
What are you thoughts about Nov 10-17 would a lot of places still be closed then? Also where would the best place be to visit in Nov if you have to choose one place?
Hi. Yes, many attractions will be closed but hotels will be cheaper. I suggest to visit touristy places to ensure cabin rides are open, e.g. Zermatt. Lucerne is nicer during Spring and Summer, Zermatt you might want to do the 5 lakes trail to get the colors of Autumn, JFJ is less touristy in late October. These are my Top 10 Autumn places: th-cam.com/video/XM702r7uE_4/w-d-xo.html
Thats really nice and appreciative, it helps a lot to newcomers and to some tourists and travellers. Thank you for sharing this kind of information.

Hey Lucas. Thank you very much! I tried my best to include as much different footage as possible😊
Thanks for an informative guide. I still travel though aware always of the weather of my destination. This coming December still plan to go around and will explore the snowy places in Switzerland.

@@SwitPea-Laniis the climate ok to travel wd infant in november? How was ur experience

Hii. Thank you very much. I am really glad that you enjoyed my video. I keep trying my best!
Maybe the major difference between this video and the previous video 'watch before travel' is that November is a month of culture? Thank you for all information. The way/style how you explained all is very well organized. You are not only the best TH-camr but you are also a good tourism ambassador of Switzerland with the excellent knowledge to promote tourism and to guide the tourist in spe. The interior of your house is very beautiful. And there is a very nice deco on the left of your seat :)
Thank you very much Dina for your very kind words. I really appreciate that. I would say that the main difference between this and my earlier video is that I know November a lot better now and the fact that I got more footage to show😊✌🏼🤗

Hello,
November 17th -23rd is our expected stay. It's pricey and after watching your great video we may decided to replace Switz for another country. Too much money spent to risk a rainy day or fog.
Great info, thanks for the video!
Do you have any tips or suggestions regarding clothing when visiting in November?
Hi we want to travel on nov 20 for a week to switzerland . We are a family of 4 , with one infant. Is the climate ok for infant in november??
Hi. Should not be a problem at all👍🏼. Even us locals we bring our kids outside often, this during all months.
Thank you for the video! My birthday is November 10 and I'm thinking if visiting Switzerland would be a good idea!

@@DjemoGraphic we are travelling to Zermatt in 10 days, cannot wait😍

Thank you!
Are fall colors present throughout the entire month of November? love the video!
Hi Jane. Sort of, but best is during the first 2 weeks only. After they fade out and the leaves will be gone. Thanks for your nice comment!
@@zachwillbeback couldnt agree more!😊👍🏼
@@zachwillbeback It seems that the leaves are late this year.
Great video, thanks
Thank you!
Hi Djemo 🤗
Thank you for this great & useful content again, as usual.
I love your channel !!! The best of Switzerland is with you !!! The videos are absolutely amazing !!! Best wishes from Brazil 🤗🇧🇷

Hi Amal😊🤗 Its a good month to visit here!
Hi, I will b visiting between 5th to 10th Nov. How will the weather b these days? Do I need to carry only winter clothing? What do I need to be ready with for trip to Mt Titlis and Jungfraujoch?
Hi. It's cold now. Please bring jacket, shoes with profile and cap. Jungfrau is anyway very cold. Below 0°C. I would not do Titlis and Jungfrau. It's repetitive. Better save the money for something else. Do Titlis or Jungfrau only.
Great video Djemo!! I'll be staying in Zurich for 6 days on the last week of November and will be taking day trips to Jungfraujoch, Grindelwald, Lucern, Mount Titlis and of course spending a couple of days to explore Zurich! Everything booked in advance though, to avoid bad surprises... Looking forward to catch some snow and enjoy the Christmas Markets! 😁 Where do you live, by the way?

I have been following you on youtube for the past few days. I love all your videos. I need a suggestion on our October trip to Europe. This is our first Euro trip and we have a 5 year old kid.
