@@CaLLMeKarma22 Hey, I know the problem you're facing, and to fix it follow these steps: Win+i > Search "apps & features" once you're in settings > Search gaming services in the apps and features search bar > click the three vertical dots and then click advanced options > Scroll down and click reset under the Reset tab, then your problem will be fixed.

I can´t download games from the game pass. I can download some games if they say that it don´t recognise the folder so it downloades them to the same folder that the other windows apps

thank youuuu i have had this hard drive for months and i could not use it for xbox app and it was a big reason i had it and i just now was able to fix it the last step worked and i was so happy
I recently upgraded to Windows 11 and I've been trying to figure out how to make the xbox app locate my c drive as I cannot install to it (must be a bug or something) and the last method worked for me. Thank you!
So solution 6 worked for me, but there's an extra step now that's not covered in the video.
Complete solution 2 before to change default app download location, then after deleting the gaming services file right click the Start button, find control terminal ADMIN.
Type in: get-appxpackage *gamingservices* -allusers | remove-appxpackage -allusers
Hit enter and close terminal. Reopen Xbox app and it should tell you to redownload gaming services. Afterward I was able to download to my E drive

I hope it works I'm very mad at the moment I have my old 1tb ps4 hard drive in an external storage case and it's recognizing it and even in the Xbox game app it says install to here but I go to install and it says system memory which is only a 128gb SSD

Don't listen to the last tip, after I did that i lost access to both drives on the xbox app, and there is no option to update gaming services.

what fixed my problem was this, i moved these files from the other drives to the one that was not working (D Drive) - WindowsApps, WpSystem,WUDownloadCache and XboxGames folders and it worked.
Just wanna say I did all of this multiple times and lots of other things that other videos suggested and nothing worked. Not saying they are wrong. But I realized I was using an external hard drive, one that I use on another computer. I’ve downloaded game pass games to it while using the other computer. Once I unplugged the external drive everything worked. Just wanna float that info out there.
I did the last tip and i can't change it back. What should i do?

Yea so I’m going to have to get a whole new computer now. I tried all of the steps and the last one especially messed up my computer. All I wanted to do was install Minecraft for windows. For some reason i can't change the system storage settings?
I just did the last step but now the xbox app does not show either drives available. It just shows there was a problem loading installation locations.
I also can’t play any Xbox games after trying the last step.. nothing I try is fixing this new bigger issue..

awesome! thanks! the regedit works for me. unfortunately I got an error 0x00000001 when I tried to install a game. but the fix is pretty easy considering they have it on the xbox support website.

Having the same problem I was able to fix it but brings me back to this problem it's a viscous circle I'm in now

1. Search for "Create and format hard disk partitions"
2. Right click on the external hard drive to format and click on “Format…”in the drop-down menu.
3. Select “NTFS” in the “File system” box and then tick “Perform a quick format”.
4. Click “OK” to format the drive and wait until finished.
5. Note this will erase all existing data on the external hard drive.
@@giorive I used the "reinstalling the Gaming Services package" fix. The one that uses powershell.

I tried the reg edit, now my external SSD can be chosen but every time I try to download the game it says error. I read that it is to do with games not compatible with exFAT drives and only on NTFS. Is that true?
