      I think Paula Vennells only became CEO of the post office in 2012. The issues with Horizon stretch back to 1999, and possibly even earlier. So she isn't the only one to blame.

      The irony of it all is that they accused those postmasters/misstresses of theft and the real thieves were the Post Office themselblves. They stole life savings, houses, health and even lives because four people comitted suicide over the stress of it all and Paula Vennells is responsible. She supposed to a christian woman yet she refuses to take any accountability and responsibility for any of it and even lied and refused to answer the comittee when questioned. Her behaviour is shocking, callous and outrageous along with her utter nerve at walking around with her nose still in there air she needs knocking off that perch of hers!

    As an IT analyst, I think Fujitsu should pay a contribution premium plus all the costs these postmasters pay to fight justice. The Post Office should pay them all the lost revenue from running the post office over the years. They should protect their own postmasters from errors in the system and they have failed.

    • @AndyCutright
      @AndyCutright 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I'm a software engineer, I'm just gobsmacked. It seems like there was no acceptance testing. Fujitsu has been around for decades, you'd think they had an engineering process for these sorts of projects which should have included QA.
      What I can see of this, it seems like the problems occurred almost immediately. The Post Office could have just told Fujitsu clearly something is wrong, "We have hundreds of Postmasters reporting these large discrepancies right after the switch, this is likely your fault." And yet it appears the Post Office decided almost immediately to hide the problem, and start lying to the Postmasters.
      So many failures coupled with what seems to be true criminal intent in blaming the Postmasters. Just horrible.

      Here is the thing, apart from all the other aspects of this affair the role of Lord Neuberger in the Recusal seems to have escaped attention.
      I have therefore pasted the following ‘The role of Lord Neuberger in the recusal fiasco (Justice Fraser) should be investigated’ on as many TH-cam articles as I could, about ten, but when I checked to see if there was any response I discovered they had all been taken down.
      This Kafkaesque episode staggers one at every turn, even when Big brother has been outed he seems to be still working away!
      I really want to know why Lord Neuberger interfered , if the recusal had succeeded the whole noble attempt at taking on the stinking system would have failed.

      @@AndyCutright I also work in software and these are my thoughts exactly. Post Office should have immediately investigated the software system and held Fujitsu accountable. It seems insane that they felt the need to defend themselves instead of put the blame where it should have lain.
      I read somewhere that the system went into pilot at a few Post offices and lots of issues were reported but ignored. I couldn't imagine that happening these days, the system just wouldn't get bought.

The UK justice system and the Post Office should be made to pay for this terrible treatment. They are both archaic establishments! I'm still staggered that we have an accounting system where the supplier can alter transaction values. In 30 years of developing software, 6 years writing accounting software it was NEVER possible to change a value on a transaction. You basically create another transaction to cancel out the error and everyone knows what happened (including any auditors). Given that changes can be made to the transactions, then none of the accusations that post masters 'stole' money can stand, as the evidence is just simply not safe.

    Some years ago I got into an argument with a good friend about equality and the political correctness move towards having more women in the board room. With 2 women at the heart of this scandal and with what has happened in recent times at Thames Water and South West Water, my friend may well have a case. However, rewind the clock, and the bank crash of the “Noughties” was generally cause by men. This is not about men and women; this is about competence to do the job and accountability. Clearly these women were incompetent for many reasons but also the Post Office system was at fault without robust balance and checks of their staff. The peeps at the bottom had accountability to make up the loss, but the peeps at the very top of the tree had none. This incompetence could be extrapolated further to our government, who proposed Paula Vennell’s for a CBE in the first place? Knowing full well this disgrace had broken by 2019?

    This is just cruel and evil, no amount of compensation can make good the trauma caused to these good people. The government knew and let it happen anyway, these are the evil monsters we have put in power. Sadly, later this year we will put another lot of monsters in the parliament because not enough of us can see the evil that comes from these greedy, self serving, anti human monsters, in both major parties.

    The thing is that UN ordered no more paper from 2025. Finding excuses to abolish the post office will assist in that.
    The actual criminals in control and their obedient servants should have proceeds of crime upon all they and their families own until honest auditors work out what was right and just for them to be paid. Major shareholders also. Were businesses such as Blackrock and Vanguard invested?

    That’s not right to put that in a contract
    It ought to be recovered from an insurance that the Post Office bears

    • @benmarshall4202

      So from what I gather, there were inherent bugs in the program that caused errors to appear on accounts.
      Fujitsu employed a team of people to spot the errors and manually fix them.
      This actually worked a majority of the time, but of course like any manual process, things got missed and mistakes got made.
      Effectively, the errors faced by the sub-postmasters that resulted in the losses were the ones Fujitsu “missed”.
      The absolute root cause is putting a system live with so many bugs in the first place, but the secondary cause is them trying to hide the issue by manually working it, rather than simply highlighting the errors to be fixed.

    • @graceg1030
      @graceg1030 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The malice was telling sub post masters they were the only one and telling them that the figures could not be changed remotely. So individuals had no way of proving innocence because they and the courts were lied to.
