    Thanks for watching. More Fast Blasts and Long-terms on the way.

    I like these fastblasts better than the tv show because it seems like a no nonsense/dramatic music/extrastuff that you guys don't need. I enjoy all your guys' content but the stripped down stuff, just you guys and a car, is what i like best.

      Exactly my feeling too. That's why I enjoy channels like Smoking Tire and Nick Murray. There's no fluff - just the cars. Davide Cironi Drive Experience has VERY good content too. You just have to wait a little for him to do english subs after the videos are released as he speaks italien.

    I'm so glad you guys loved the car and felt the same way about it that I did! I know it's been a year, but I watched the video when it first came out and have been rewatching it all this time because it always brings a smile to my face. And yeah, the 4-wheel drive and steering really help when you're using the car as a daily during the Utah winters!

      Gotta laugh. I drive a 1998 VW Jetta TDI. It has more road feel than today’s Porsches and Beemers. I am not kidding. Sure it is not ‘fast’ in the sense, but you know what .... It pulls rather nicely (stick shift) and before I know it, the car is doing fifty or sixty. No drama, just goes. BTW all that BS from about the pollution hacked software, just bs. Sorry, but you will not convince me that my little Jetta, which gets fifty MPG, POLLUTES more than a full sized American pickup truck with a Diesel engine. Just ain’t so.

    I miss my last car (1995 Mazda MX6 V6, ford probe gt cousin) even tho that car was fwd, it was a blast. rare car, minor rust for the age and will never forget it. I wish my 2011 Impreza 2.5i had the connection that did. MX had all the goodies, FD RX7 wheels, bigger brakes, wider tires, coilovers, headers, short throw shifter, exhaust. That car really would make one feel special.

  • @Amir.z32
    @Amir.z32 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm in a really similar situation here, but with a JDM 300ZX Twin Turbo (Fairlady Z) as my first car. As long as the engine is healthy, throwing on a set of coilovers and good tires transforms the driving experience into something that is simply unattainable with modern cars. It also makes your parents freak out because it was built before USB ports or air bags were a thing!

  • @JonasRosenven
    @JonasRosenven 6 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    It's so funny thinking about how we constantly crave and wait for manufacturers to make cars that have more communicative brakes and steering - how we want them to make exhausts that make the engines sound better. How we want them to make special models of their cars that give us more driver involvement. It is all there for us if we just go back to older cars. I get why a Jaguar XK-R or a Porsche 911 turbo S is fun. It's just that a Peugeot 205 gti from the nineties or something similar can provide just as much driving pleasure and only for a fraction of the price.

    I will tell you why people love the Skylines and why they have a cult following....1. They are fast, modern car fast. 2. They are right hand drive and quite rare to see on a daily basis. 3.They are turbocharged screamers. 4. They are well built and sound awesome. 5. They make you feel like Brian O' Conner from The Fast and The Furious films.

    Quick conversion I use for Kph to Mph. Round to nearest 10 kph and cut the speed in half 160/2=80, next add 1 Mph for every 10 kph of the starting kph, 160/10=16 so 16+80=96. Finally, add 1 mph for ever 50 kph of the starting kph, 160/50=(roughly)3 so 96+3=99 mph.

    4 wheel steering - Reason why they don't do it anymore:
    1. Disorienting
    2. More parts to manufacture
    3. More parts to fail
    4. Most people that had it (mainly 300zx owners) tore all that out or disabled it.

    The closest 'modern' Nissan in to any of the original Skylines is either a 350Z or a G35 manual not the Q50. And that's how Nissan shat all over their heritage. With their poor build quality right now.
    It used to be that if you wanted a Nissan you'd buy a Nissan. Nowadays, if you want a Nissan, you might wanna opt for Toyota or Subaru. Heck even Mazda is nicer than Nissan nowadays.
    (of course the Nismo GT-R is a modern masterpiece but not for us average Joe racers).

    I dont think any manufacturer has lost it's engineering prowess in terms of road feeling, I think the cars are more made for sheer performance which is tailored towards less road feeling. More precise faster steering? Electric. etc. You get the idea

    • @JJ_ExMachina
      @JJ_ExMachina 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The steering feel of modern vehicles is more numb, which is BAD... when compared to vehicles like the Skyline. Road feel is very important when it comes to driving vehicles at their limits. If you can't "feel" what the front tires are doing, you won't know when they are about to let loose, so it makes it really hard to drive fast. I am not talking about economy front wheel drive cars, like Honda Civics, or Toyota Camrys... Those are expected to be numb and poor steering feel. There are so few $30k or less performance/sports cars that drive like a Skyline... well maybe the FRS/BRZ/GT86 for steering feel not power... Anything with a decent power to weight has crappy steering feel for the $30K or less price tag.

    • @tommynobaka

      +MasterMech77 exactly my point

    • @JJ_ExMachina
      @JJ_ExMachina 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rathanak Vlogs
      Unless I am missing something, your comment says "modern cars are engineered for sheer performance with is tailored towards less road feel". Of course I am paraphrasing your comment... but the point is, your comment is very contradictory, you are saying modern cars have less road feel because they have better performance... That is all wrong, you don't engineer in less road feel to make the car higher in performance. They engineer in less road feel, the average person, does NOT want to feel the road. The Average person that can afford a high performance vehicle are not the type of person to drive those cars hard, they buy they because they can afford them, and use the car for a status symbol.

    Unless the rear-wheel-steer is dramatically different to my R33 GTS-T, then... you didn't feel it. Because it's a very binary thing - it's on or off. It only turns on when you get more than about half a G lateral and on-throttle, and when it happens it feels like you've lost the back end. You haven't - stay in the power and the rear steps out about two feet and then stops and grips and it's an amazing feeling - like a mini drift.
    The "extra" agility you were talking about - that's just natural good engineering, not the rear-wheel-steer. Ferrari and Porsche (and Renault!) have elegant subtle systems. The Skyline... nah - on or off.

    That's not a stock car - the GTR steering wheel is not factory, the gauge cluster has been removed and or replaced, same with center 3, the white backing is aftermarket - the KM's are suspect, still couldn't be more than 150k tho - the dash shows higher Km's edit: that hand brake leaver('Parking brake'/'e-brake') shows wear closer to 80-120,000 kms. The front bar is GTR-like copy and bonnet are not factory sujest it's had front accent repair - but sounds like drives ture so must be good repair/minor damage. Aftermarket shift knob - probably short throw too. Worth noting I'm pretty sure the GTS-4 does not have the GTR AWD system - very similar but the R32 GTR has different box, in the same way, an r33 GTR and Stagea (RB engined skyline like station/sports wagon based the Nissan Laurel platform) AWD almost the same but they are not. If you've read this far you deserve a fun fact the R32 also came out as a 1.8L 4 door econo-box, and were used as taxis just like many other sedans made by other auto makers.

      They are not legal to import yet, once they are then they will be all over the place. I know I will be purchasing the R32 GTR soon and the R33/R34 GTR as they becomes available. YES there are examples of R33 and R34 in the states now, but they fall under certain restrictions and exemptions, and are limited to about 5K miles a year.

    • @ribsrtuil3615
      @ribsrtuil3615 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      i dont think the mileage limitation will matter. these cars are bought by collectors or as sunday cars. not daily drivers. they have been stateside in 1 form or another for well over a decade

    • @JJ_ExMachina
      @JJ_ExMachina 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ribs Rtuil
      The millage restriction most certainly plays a factor in the availability for reviewing a vehicle like the R33/R34. The issue is, the owners that are not driving them to keep the millage extremely low, are not going to hand the keys over to some TH-cam content creator. Then the ones that actually do drive their vehicle are very limited on how many miles they can actually drive them... SO again, they are not just going to hand over the keys to someone to burn up more miles. Really the best way to be able to review these cars would be to take a trip to a location that has them readily available to drive. You can rent R33/R34 in Japan for the day/weekend/week.... would be a really fun to see also.

      Hell yeah.
      My first car was a black 2+2 t-top right hand twin turbo z32 manual.
      I’ll never forget that car, still have the titanium key for it.
      Z32 is such a perfect looking car.

    I wonder, can a RB26 run well without the turbo? I know it'll lower the power, but is it possible to tune it so that it wouldn't need a turbo?

    • @brittonwritespoetry
      @brittonwritespoetry 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Neon Wave yes but the RB26DETT was prepared for turbocharging so you'd have to do the reverse of many things like running higher compression pistons,a thinner head gasket and different camshaft profiles and retune the ECU to compensate for the lack of turbos and regain power. In short, it's not ideal to de-turbo an engine that was engineered from factory to handle forced induction.

    • @brittonwritespoetry
      @brittonwritespoetry 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Neon Wave also this car is a GTS-T. It doesn't come with the RB26. It has an RB20DET

    • @neonnwave1
      @neonnwave1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know. But people tend to be more interested in the RB26.

    • @brittonwritespoetry
      @brittonwritespoetry 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Neon Wave naturally. The RB26DETT is the ultimate engine for the GTRs from 1989-2003 when production ceased on the R34. Naturally people are gonna have greater interest in that high output engine as opposed to the lowly RB20
