    Congratulations on the car man, I'd suggest keep it within 500hp for the best performance and reliability, the R32 is probably the most aggressive looking GTR among all

      I was the complete opposite. I bought my R32 GTR from TopRank's a couple months back and I explicitly instructed Brian to NOT do anything to the car. I was worried they would use a dirty wash mitt or be harsh when detailing parts of the interior. It made me cringe as well when I saw you took it through an automatic car wash.

    This was really good! I wasn’t gonna post but I thought I would.
    I’ve been out here in Japan for almost 14 years. A TH1 was my first 32 GTR out here. I became a dealer here for these kinds of vehicles about 10 years ago. I owned many until about 4 years ago and that’s when prices started to rise. I didn’t know if I would ever have my own again. Fast forward to now, I just bought one again 3 weeks ago and this one is a keeper.
    I’ve lost the plot buying all kinds of things for this car on Yahoo auction 😂
    As I’ve been in the game a long time I’m also familiar with Top Rank. And that’s exactly why I’m commenting under a random profile. They are my competition. Although, not really my competition because I try to offer a much better service.
    Enjoy the car 😎

    FYI, MMT-based octane booster is not recommended for anything with a catalytic converter or O2 sensors. Fouls plugs, exhaust valves, exhaust components like leaded gas. It may not cause the severe health effects of lead but you can't add much to gasoline before it starts leaving deposits. 91 octane is acceptable if the ECU is stock and the engine is mostly stock. I recommend using an unleaded race gas like VP HP101, 6 gallons mixed with 13 gallons of 91 octane will get you 94 octane.

    You mentioned some of the panels were replaced. Did you check the vehicle history? I'm shopping around for a GTR as well and seems all the ones for sale have a collision history and a R rating on the auction report for repaired and replaced panels.

    • @Officer_Dan
      @Officer_Dan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did. I bought the Japanese version of the car fax on it, and it had been in 2 accidents. Adam LZ sent me the link to the site to do it. It's carvx.jp/ In the top right corner of the auction sheet, the R means repair, and under that is the interior grade, mine was a c and that was being generous. Anything on the pictures with XX means that panel has been replaced. 1,2,3 on the picture of the car are scratches with 3 being worst.

    • @dennischen8887
      @dennischen8887 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Officer_Dan dang sorry to hear that. You bought it from Top Rank? Their reputation is pretty good, I'm surprised they would sell a GTR that has been in 2 accidents for that much as the fob for grade R collision cars go for significantly less than their accident free counterpart. Also, for them to tell you that the better condition one is sold out after them delaying communication and then offering a lesser condition version for more money seem a bit fishy as these are common bait and switch tactics by these importers.

    don't wanna shit on toprank and sean but honestly, you should be able to buy this car for a lot cheaper than their listing price. Toprank is more appealing to Cali-resident because they can get all the CARB bs done for you. Other than that, I think importing one yourself would be a lot, lot more cheaper. I got mine for 38k (JPY is still tanking so it's worth only 33k now) and is in much better shape.

    For the love of god don't use a roller car wash. Use touch less only. Micro scratches for days!
    Also it's a 30 year old car. You will never know the true mileage or history. These use to be $8k disposable cars 10 years ago.
    With the prices people are willing to pay now a lot of sketchy shit goes down. Most of these cars are pieced together and hardly road worthy. (I've owned 12 jdm cars in Canada) and have a lot of experience. The days of buying a clean car are long gone.

    Have you driven a WRX before? How does it compare?

    • @Officer_Dan
      @Officer_Dan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Had a 2002 wrx right when they came to the usa, then in 07 I got an 04 sti.
      It wipes the floor with a wrx in pretty much every way, features, power, braking, awd system and options, even as a 1990. I mean my wrx never had power folding mirrors or air ionizer. The seats a a huge difference there as well. Gauges for boost and coolant temp stock? Why bother on the dub r.
      Compared to my sti, the sti had waaaay better brakes, slightly better seats, the ability to control the center diff to make it tail happy was awesome, but I was still always terrified to break the trans, axles or diff on a hard launch. In the gtr it's rwd long enough until the front tq split kicks in to get legendary launches without destroying the drive train your first launch. The gtr in its current form is about twice as quick from a dig as an sti stock, with just an ecu and more boost, but I would be able to run a faster lap around my track for sure in the sti because it's much more composed.
