Basic garment construction has not changed in decades so a sewing instruction manual is a good investment to have with this system. Love that yellow fabric!
Thank you immensely for making these videos. They’re very helpful. My two cents worth: I really prefer the quiet background while you’re demonstrating how to do this rather than the loud music. Maybe I’m just showing my age. LOL!!!
Thank you Jermice, I have the Golden Rule system and it’s really helpful to see how you make it work and to learn your tips and tricks. You’re giving me the confidence to get it out again and try it properly this time 🙂
thank you. I just got the system as well. I would say yes. a beginner could easily make the patterns but putting the garment together is an entirely different skill set. I've been sewing for years and I am a bit challenged. I found by looking at the directions that came with patterns I already own that are similar to the lutterloh pattern that I'm trying to make is quite helpful. I think the outfits you are making is the first thing out of the book that I want to make as well. I just love that little jacket.
Great video! Did I miss the video where you sew the jacket? I've been looking at that jacket and was wondering whether I could make that as my first project. Everything looks so complicated but you make it much simpler!
Helen, most EVERY pattern on the market is based on IDEAL body type for any given size. This isn't a bad thing. Learn what changes (away from the ideal) you need to make on most all your patterns. Bust adjustment is most common. Are they high? Low? Full? As a DD myself, any pattern that is more fitted will need an adjustment. The good thing is, once you know the amount, type, and how to make adjustment on pattern (search TH-cam) it will become easier and easier.
Continuing to follow your progress with The Golden Rule. BTW: is the pattern paper you use as flimsy as the tissue paper in store-bought patterns? Can you share where to get it? Thanks!

This is so true. I encourage anyone who wants to sew to learn as much about the craft as they can. Investing in books about sewing teaches you alot.
Excited to watch your process. Thank you. Found this system at a thrift store for $5. Can't wait to try it out.
Great! Let me know how it goes.

I actually just finished the muslin for the jacket. I am cutting the fabric now and hope to film today. It is easier than it looks.
does the pattern need adjustments for sway backs and bust adjustment
So far I haven’t needed any adjustments. I am making the mock-up for this jacket and I will put that information in the next video.

@@Luxxen101 Yes, i too am a dd and have to do this adjustment so was wondering if this system included info to work with this. Thank you for replying
@@Touchingtheworld513 Thank you for replying, i will be patient. I like the overall looks of the system but always adjustments.

The paper I use is not flimsy. I found it in Amazon. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004KPLL0Y?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
Thanks so much! You're so thoughtful.
