Lol. "Crazy Germans, everything needs to be organized." So true! I am German, now living in the US. In my sewing, life, and home I am known for this skill. What an amazing demonstration. I've heard and seen the Lutterloh system being sold, but have never seen a personal demonstration like this. Lauren, thanks for bring such great content to ALL of us, not just to those who can attend your workshops.
I've made several garments with this system, and I love it. Thank you for this video, as I now know how to find the straight of grain and where to shorten or lengthen, along with other details I missed. Now I know why my waistline was slightly too big, too (was using my hip instead of waist measurement!).
Oh Lauren, thank you so much for hosting Ralph Lutterloh and putting it on You Tube. Thank you very much. I do have this system but your show has just made everything quite clear for me now. Thank you.
I remember looking through my mum's folder with this system when I was a little girl in the 70s. I was fascinated with the little pattern drawings and the ruler 😊 The down side is there are no instructions for sewing the garment like in branded patterns. Makes Style Arc instructions seems detailed 😂
So glad I watched this run through of the demonstration you held. I bought this system a number of years ago but then never had the time to look at it properly. (I had done a pattern cutting foundation course at Poly back as a teenager). I will be trying this system out now - makes drafting your own patterns significantly quicker and more straightforward. Thank you
I was obsessed with getting this system last year when I first saw it. In Canada it was way more expensive than the offer in this video. It is really good, I enjoy drawing out the patterns too. I thought adding the seam allowance would be fussy, but it’s not hard and you get to choose. I am a bit of a pattern collector so, despite having this system, I keep buying patterns too ! Silly me.
Thank you so much for sharing this! I've owned the system for a few years now (my mum gave me hers, which she had bought in the 90s) and recently bought the XL/XXL kit. Still have to try it out!
Watching the way that the dart is moved, does that mean the dart is drafted to each all the way to the apex? In other pattern drafting one would need to draw a line from one of the dart legs to the apex, then move it in a similar way, then make it a little short of the apex again in order for the bust not to be too pointy 😅
I have this system and what works for a large cup size is use your upper bust measurements for the shoulders and then use the dot from mid/ third armscye to increase your size to full bust at this point to side seam This works well if you are C/D, if you have a bigger bust, increase to C/D and then add the rest in a full bust adjustment. This will shape the armscye. The system is very good, ease is not excessive on all patterns so you need accurate measurements to fit. Trousers are exceptional fit due to excellent crotch curve. If you have to alter crotch curve lay the altered pattern over all trousers patterns in the book. It is that simple.
Also, I love Swedish drafting paper! So handy and durable, easy to fold, sew, tape, cut.... If I expect to use a pattern repeatedly, I will trace it to this.😊
They spent a lot of time creating this kit to make it simple to make the pattern, too bad they didn't go the extra length to add instructions on how to sew the actual garment after the pattern is created! esp for the high price of the kit. you are left guesstimating esp if your a beginner.
Totally agree. Back in the day… I had to follow instructions step by step. And even after some experience, I felt it necessary to continue with this. So it is awkward and if I had known at purchase, I might have changed my mind.

Excellent demonstration from Ralph Lutterloh. Thank you!
I just got this system 2 weeks ago . I’ve drawn out my first blouse and my fabric arrives today. Excited!
What an amazing system! So cool! I would photocopy the patterns and then cut that out to use with the pin, so the original sheet doesn't get mangled.

Are these kits still available today and if so how do I purchase one?

Interesting, how does the system work with a large sewing cup size ie smaller shoulders to bust measurements?

Very interesting system , where do I buy a complete kit for 2024 with 280 patterns?.
This is super interesting! And new to me here in the US. Does the system also have pants patterns?

I just spotted that you threw the pattern away with the rubbish after you cut it out !!
Are you supposed to measure over your clothes or under?
Is there a way I can purchase the XL package with the plastic curve rulers etc?
You may want to check with Lauren and the G&G team but the listing on the website says the rulers are included in the XL system.
@@andreaschauenburg6973 excellent Thank you, when I checked last night it didn't hence the query :-)
@@katesterling8915 Ah, they must have updated the listing. Good luck with if you decide to buy it! Still have to try out mine.
Hi Kate, we updated the listing this morning so that the XL system has the ruler too :)
How does this pattern work if you have a large tummy (larger than hips!)?

@@trevanji i was going to order it till i did my research first and decided i will not buy for that reason
