    You should of checked the other ones usually the metal flakes go into the other rod bearings and messes up the other rod bearings I am doing one now and I am replacing the rest of them because the other ones are messed up as well

    How many miles did it do from the first knocking noise? How bad did that sound running? Knocking all the time or just certain rpm?

    I actually bought a 2g 95 eagle talon tsi and I’m trying to figure out which rod bearings to buy, I bought the car back in November and have had all sorts of crazy issues with it, and I finally get it running and it has a rod knock on cyl 3 and it is due to a bad bearing. I actually diagnosed it myself I have the 4g63t 6 bolt. Any recommendations for the new bearing?? It is the OE crank by the way, I need to do a rebuild but I just don’t have money for it at the moment.

      A bit late, but honestly I'm going to be in the same boat. I have a guy selling a TSI Talon for 600 with spun bearings on 1 and 3. Because this will be a toy for now I'm just doing it this way. I'd use OEM bearings assuming it's not been modified. I'm not sure of part numbers but if it's been modified you should be able to use cleavite bearings. But honestly OEM do a good job even for modified motors. The 4G63 was just a terrible design for high mileage and high horsepower. It's not a bad motor by any means, but there's known problems that Mitsubishi never really addressed even right before they replaced it.

    Are there any updates if the vehicle spun the bearing again I have an Eclipse Turbo same issue I wanted to see if it was worth trying your fix before I pull the motor

      TEAMHYBRID007 it is but only if you do it right if you have a turbo make sure you flush it and make sure you measure the bearing clearances that’s something I didn’t mention but make sure it’s still good during a plastic gauge

    Dirty ass hands but uses a baggie to pick up clean rod bearings.. logic

      And has about 20 attempts of turning the bearing back over

      It's generally recommended to not touch the inner surface of new bearings . . . something about that surface not liking oil from skin. At least that's what "they" say. It does seem like this bearing/journal has much bigger issues than a little finger oil.

    How’s the motor so far? Did you flush the turbo and oil cooler to make sure no shavings were in there?

    • @shawnhacker8874
      @shawnhacker8874 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just spun my rod bearing in my evo yesterday but it was cyl. 4. Did you use an oversized bearing as well or happen to measure the journal or no?
