I've watched many 'how-to' videos about setting up suspension, but they all seem to have something in them that I'm unable to comprehend. So I feel the need to mention that the way that you have somehow, simplified the explanaition of setting up suspension in your videos can not be overlooked. Fantastic job. 🤝👏Now I can tinker with confidence. 😄
Thanks for the video, entertaining & great intel as usual! I have a 2020 Kenevo (Australasia build as I'm in New Zealand) & the original coil shock (Rockshox Super Delux Coil Select +) has died (snapped shaft). I'm going to replace it with a Rockshox Vivid Air and I have a mate with a Quarq Shockwiz which I'm intending on using to help set it up.... My question is 'WHY' do you say don't buy one if you have a Rockshox shock?
I put a x2 on my jeffsey and it always felt to harsh and i bottomed it often i put in more volume spacers and lowered pressure and played with the knobs forever and always to stiff and still bottomed with max spacers, finally bought a shockwiz and within 10 minutes it said my dynamic sag was 40% add pressure i went up 20psi and it completely changed the shock its plush now, now i set my sag sitting down on all my bikes and gets me at the right spot
Its a shock I'm interested upgrading to with the new shims etc they done in it just ment to be better for a heavier rider but that shock wiz is maybe a nice tool to have! I bought my first emtb in January with the flaot X i can't get anymore than 300psi in the thing so bought a new shock pump to see if it helps I'll try it tomorrow but i cant get it set up its so irritating 😂
It would be helpful to see sort of a before and after video where before you timed yourself going down a trail and then use the ShockWiz or some of the other tuning techniques you’ve used in other videos and compared them to your new time. I think that would validate what you’re trying to say in these videos.
When I clicked on comment it said Andrew. Are you Jons friend? We gotta link up if so. I’m more of a surfer so I don’t got fast. The profiles you select could 200% make you faster if you choose planted. I only use it in playful profile. That being said I didn’t have good results using on a Rockshox stuff.
@@OtterMTBtech Yes Jon has been proxying a friendship between the two of us. I’m a huge supporter of what you do. Style, personality. O saw a video about 18 months ago before I knew Jon you had all of these 80s video effects and you were wearing a sport jacket. It was a standout MTB video in a sea of MTB content. Keep it up!
Man ohhh man, why in the world would you let the shockwiz loose like that. Also, using others leverage curve ratio is WRONG, It is dependant on many factors air can volume / volume spacers used and so on. You have to read the manual for the shockwiz sorry, many gotcha you will NOT figure out just using it.
@TeamCykelhold did your model have the custom tune option? Mine does and you can set it from soft to firm and then you can set how you like the bike to feel planted poppy or whatever the options are I tuned all my bikes with it once I figured out what setting I liked and what to ride to get it to set up right I have liked it alot and every bike but one fork was off and made better one bike it had me make 0 changes which was the bike I rode the most so I guess I got it good after alot of ridding on my own
@blurglide it's more than that I was surprised with how good it was I regret now buying it sooner. If you only have one bike and plan on keeping it for along time your probably better of renting or buying used and reselling but if you have a few bikes or like to make changes or buy new bikes often its pretty good

Glad it helped. I agree I never understood any setup video myself, why I make them. 😆 or they are just generic setup videos.
@@OtterMTBtechI'm guessing i would follow the same steps/method for fox float DPS?
Yes, the wiz will help even that shock. It will tell you the token you need
And the tutorial svideos are 8yeards olds, this device needs an urgen update already on all aspect.
You are the wizard of Shocks, thanks for breaking things down for us.
No wizard just trying to be
I don't even ride MTB's but that's a crispy thumbnail!! haha

Nice I had same experience renting one. So I bought one. Peeps don’t understand. Clever idea to use it for sag 🧐

How much do your weigh what bike?
Great job with the narrators!
Glad you like them!

I have done this, same trail I've rode 50+ times. Bike got faster vs my original settings.

@@diskoe1 I have a Shickwiz also and I found much more helpful results than on my shock than my fork. Have you experienced that?
@myalteregohamish before I got my coil rear yes. It dialed all my shocks in , found my self jus smashing through rock gardens like a Baja truck 😎
Another killer video

Bro I know it wasn’t ideal and said it in video.
I tried the wiz with my 2019 X2 but I liked the way I set it up better tbh. Was a little disappointed with it, ngl.
What profile
@@OtterMTBtech I tried balanced and agressive
What didn't you like about it?
@@thinkaboutit3011 too much hsc on both and as I remember it more lsc needed on balanced. pressure was good though.

Cool device. $350 though! I thought it'd be like $100
The cost is steep! Some LBS rent these also.
@@diskoe1 Yeah- it's just a bluetooth pressure gauge.

I rented one and then bought after was so good.
Why do you say "shram"?
It’s actually S-Ram in my books
Isn’t it kinda a loosing battle to try and make such a heavy bike feel “playful” and not “planted”?
It’s so planted it needs help getting off the ground. Good point. It makes its 170mm enduro feel like a BMX.
Why are you showing Jordan's face? He wasn't even in your video...
