8:30 games DO often use assets from libraries like Megascans, as well as internal asset libraries. Too much reuse ends up with an asset flip feel, so custom designs to fit a games theme are preferable.
I think the one thing that comes into play as to why it never got added is obviously lack of time. I mean when will EA let these developers show off their potential by finally giving them proper time to work and finish these games? Like after mw 2005 there literally isnt a single nfs game that wasn't rushed to crap and ruined because for some reason they think rushed = more money. You would think after thousands of people liking the concepts more than the game they would be like "we should take our time so that way we can make more people interested and tempted to play our game"
i get the point, and most games since were rushed, but i don't remember hearing shift, shift 2, or hp 2010 being rushed, they actually do seem pretty complete to me
The devs will never have *enough* time to finish the full game that they envision, with its pros and cons, strenghts and flaws. They'll have as much time as it's needed to put out a game in a schedule appropriate for EA's financial and cash flow plans, and will adjust accordingly. It is like that in every single game publisher out there, it's not EA-exclusive, but just putting that out of the way. With that being said, I'm afraid in the case of NFS specifically, it's always going to be worse since EA has started cutting personnel from all of the studios and demanding that the remaining work on Battlefield primarily and do the rest on their spare time.
@@davidbromfield8328that’s because more than half their team was working on battlefield lmao. Just like they are now. Ea is stupid. I think the damage being integrated within gameplay and racing is an amazing idea, only if repairing your vehicles was fun too, not just a money pit and feels more of a chore than another element of gameplay
Watching the concept video made me feel, devs prolly were thinking of rebooting the "TerrorFive" project, as its idea quite nicely fitted with what fans wanted after playing heat... But again, ended up archiving it and released Unbound, maybe for internal (studio/corporate) reasons...
Unbound with unite is just amazing. the best NFS game would be the handling of unbound unite, with the world and the loading screens, day/night change, race finish of heat.
That looks insanely better than what we've got like I'm sure if THAT would have been the initial game and it would have been in the trailers then people would have liked it a lot more, such as myself
That made it into the game, just not in plain yellow, it's the prize legendary custom for IIRC the week 3 qualifier, but in a white and red livery. Given it featured in the concepts early on, it may well be a Khyzyl Saleem design, just as the Countach legendary custom was.
About the map from camera cut timing video, maybe it’s not from Unbound or Heat either. Maybe is a scene made for concept art, to communicate how the VFX crash would work.
I'm happy they didn't choose to get the Forza/The Crew information style. I don't like seeing an entire page after a race instead of the small info screen they used in the final version. Otherwise I'd be bashing the X-button after every race, while in the final version you could already drive away almost instantly.
I just wish they kept the singleplayer and multiplayer integrated like it was in Heat and you could still have the competitive pvp in speedlist while still having the more chill pvpve races in heat
Kinda prefer techwear style UI and 3D characters like these than "into the spider-verse" effect we got. It looks much more cleaner and still blend well with the environment and the overall vibes of the unbound.
Tbh I think with new update is ok but I think they should of gave us 1 hour instead of 30:00 because it doesn’t give us a chance to get the black listed cars plus I also think they should of had 2 teams instead of 5 to make it easier for people who are trying to get the black listed vehicles. But they wouldn’t plus I think they need to give us the motorbike in a pack along with some more motorbikes and give us the iconic mustang as well because I think they should of given us as a gift in the new update .

Doesn't really matter how much customization we get on the characters if the story is utter nonsense. It's common knowledge that we play NFS titles for the driving and the customization but the story aspect is what really would either immortalize the game or not in my view.
Hear me out… we need a cool art of Need for Speed art book.. make one for each Need for speed Era (underground 1-2), Most Wanted -Carbon, Heat-Unbound… I would like that on my shelf.

I work for a corporation and there is little communication between other me and other locations if you will, its not like a community, for like everyone for themselves and good luck kinda thing. Idk i hope my opinion is understood properly.
Honestly, by the end of the single player i got the feeling that there was either a lot left on the cutting room floor, or a compromise between art or other departments. Maybe one group wanting to build off heat and ghost's designs, another wanting to step away from it. One group wanting more cel shading/graffiti styling, one wanting it toned down, one wanting the more graphic brutalist design. I think the compromise lead to a failed experiment, too many cooks and such, but a worthwhile experiment and i'm glad it was tried.
What they should do for the next need for speed is do game testers with fans to see if it's a hit or a miss, cuz I really don't care if I have to wait 2 years or more for it
Well its better, but we need to understand that they did marketing interviews and questions. And obviously ppl dont really liked it. So they toned down a lot. Or just optimisation issues lol.
8:49 I think they already do it since all of EA games are done with Frostbite engine but not with everything since some stuff may have contradicting coding that may broke some stuff in other games, the example you make about the trees there's the possibility that the trees let's say in battlefield have some scripts for physics that contradict something in the physics in need for speed (maybe the trees brake some physics when a car gets close), so to avoid those problems since is worse to redo the same thing twice they either use just the model, use the ones they use in the previous need for speed or just use a generic prop one that doesn't do anything.
After two years since its release, Unbound has, in my honest opinion, become one of the best NFS titles ever. The live service model has worked wonders for the game, highlighting the importance of starting with a solid foundation (which Unbound always had) and demonstrating how continuous development can transform a title. For the next NFS installment, they should definitely stick to this formula while striving to expand and innovate in every other aspect. That being said, seeing the potential Unbound had makes me hopeful for a sequel. I wouldn’t mind an Unbound 2, where they fully embrace and refine this distinctive art style. If they base the next installment in New York City, it would be a perfect match for the urban aesthetic, allowing them to take full advantage of the subway system for innovative gameplay elements and unique race routes.
Criterion has experience in racing games and even made Hot Pursuit 2010, which was the best of the PS3/X360 generation and one of the best-selling. And with Unbound they did more than Ghost did with 3 games that only brought problems.
The fact that grid did this year's ago. With the perfect ui and menus. I agree with you in the topic of resources not being shared amongst big companies like ea and bungie and Activision.
Sucks that they didn’t do anything with Heat. NFS Heat was like a breath of fresh air. The story and gameplay were top notch. Instead of Unbound, they were better off releasing a 60fps mode for PS5/Series X and regular updates for additional content. I play Unbound sometimes but it just doesn’t have the better vibe of Heat. The Unbound characters are cringe and the cartoonish style is a bit meh. I hope the next one in the franchise does not disappoint.
Can be annoying depending on the game on car damage. I remember SRS Racing required you to pay to repair your if it got damaged. Just got annoying for have the car for a few seconds and then a light touch would cause damage. Making it annoying and turned me off to it. I don't mind showing the damage as say part of a takedown. But I would rather see it as effect that wears off. So after the takedown happens the car can stay slightly damaged for a bit before it 'self-repairs' back to normal without damage for the player. That is how I would personally like to see it
It also shares a lot of cues with the Marathon trailer: the oversaturated colors, the clean and angular graphics, the glitchy rendering. The rear of the GR reminds me of Burnout: Revenge cars though, minus the gundam wings.
6:08 I think if games offered damage options more often like what Forza does that people would be happier than being forced to stick with one or the other.
They could make it lobby-based like GTA is with the aiming style so that it can't create an unfair advantage. Some people do not like the damage meter at all and just wanna play casual and smash into cops like MW 05, and Carbon without being damaged out by other players griefing in the session. Since private lobbies got removed as a feature from previous games.
i believe the developers have the passion and want to deliver a good game i believe they have brilliant ideas about NFS but when they present these ideas to the boarding members they hit a wall , the board of directors don't understand their own game developers they don't understand that they destroy their own game by interfering to the work of the developers , let them work and create and deliver their vision about NFS , maybe this creativity will cost you a bit more but if the comes out as it as it should you will definitely earn those money back.
About the car damage thing you mentioned. I think generally most people do want car damage, with bumpers flying off and such. The problem is Forza Horizons damage model is just insanely ugly lol, it just looks horrible. And some of the people playing FH5 and such generally have different mindsets compared to the ones playing NFS Also FYI Theo. The widebody kit on the 350z you commented on isnt actually in the game, so it looks like some licences werent given or some content were cut for future games
Nah, I'd pass on extra effects and transitions and go with latest God Of War where the whole game goes with a single take camera - imagine the only loading screen in the beginning, then you start in garage, seamlessly leave it, enter meeting point, then race, then after the racr ends you end up in the world at finish line, etc. - super immersive and partly already done in previous games
If the next NFS eventually got made, personally i rather they put a focus gameplay aspect (Handling, Deeper Costumization, UI, etc) Rather then making a lot of new content and asset. They can make more content on the update, kinda like what unbound did
To be honest real video clips of characters as seen in nfs undercover as well in nfs mw black edition is far far better than the characters they create using AI . It makes game more like a CARTOON NETWORK😂
The Need For Speed series should have continued the old Most Wanted and Carbon style of story and racing. Very much like the original Fast and Furious movies... the games they have made since Carbon have mostly been garbage.
I don't think that the new games are garbage at all. The main problem with the new games however is that they are simply trying to replicate the style you mentioned. The reason classic games of the series such as Most Wanted and Carbon were so successful is because they were innovative . Each game either introduced an entirely new element or reintroduced an element of the racing genre in a way that made the series stand out from other racing games of that time. While I personally enjoyed playing each of the new games ( especially Unbound) I hope the future NFS games will have the same level of creativity and uniqueness with the Black Box era ❤
@@npmkstnumber1fan which is why I don't buy many racing games anymore. There's no need for 'innovation' in racing games. Give us cool cars with upgrades and mod capabilities and a story mode to follow along with to give us a progression. There's a reason so many of us want the older games back. They were better in almost every way that matters. For me personally, as an older gamer (53) I would prefer less childish games. The graphics they put in Unbound looks straight out of a Lego game or something. Cartoon characters and hand drawn fake smoke is great if I was 9 years old. As most developers never seem to learn, stick with what your target audience wants and stop wasting time on irrelevant junk. Spend more time on car details, part upgrades, customization and handling physics.
I’m honestly really happy that we got unbound’s style as it is because it’s so refreshing in comparison to before being so flavorless, I hope we get more anime style racing games like Unbound. But if they go comic book art, graffiti and street art style with realistic characters next I’m okay with it cuz every nfs needs a new theme. But I hope nfs feel more alive and passionate from now on like heat and Unbound.

Tfw when the fans made a better NFS Unbound 😩
They need to make T rated NFS
If they want to add a crash cam so bad, add it when we are out of health.
I kinda like the concept tho.
Love the video thanks man
Can be annoying depending on the game on car damage. That is how I would personally like to see it
still glad we didnt get this ngl, but it wouldve been cool to get something better than what we have, kind of in the middle.
Why does it give 2000s vibes?
Mid to late 00s mostly
Did you get gt3rs or turbo S in fh5, btw ? 😅😂
About the car damage thing you mentioned. I think generally most people do want car damage, with bumpers flying off and such. The problem is Forza Horizons damage model is just insanely ugly lol, it just looks horrible. And some of the people playing FH5 and such generally have different mindsets compared to the ones playing NFS
Also FYI Theo. The widebody kit on the 350z you commented on isnt actually in the game, so it looks like some licences werent given or some content were cut for future games
If you want Heat style, go play Heat
This art style is quite similar to Marathon's reveal. I wonder if all the crap going down with Marathon means some devs went to work on NFS:U instead
why did not they do it 🧐
Nah, I'd pass on extra effects and transitions and go with latest God Of War where the whole game goes with a single take camera - imagine the only loading screen in the beginning, then you start in garage, seamlessly leave it, enter meeting point, then race, then after the racr ends you end up in the world at finish line, etc. - super immersive and partly already done in previous games
If they ever plan to make a new need for speed, they should just reuse the assets from the concepts and save them the godforsaken development time
Pantsman i will continue to post that you need to do a video on TUFU aka 2 Unreal 5 Underground, they released a demo!
7:29 Siiiiuuuuuuuuuu
I wish this was in a actual nfs game and not what we got in nfs unbound
Do a video of the Acura NSX the new one please or in the crew motorfest please theo.
We really need new need for speed game soon im tired of the recent ones
7:30 bro what does cr7 have to do with nfs 💀🙏
Looking at this, I suppose ray tracing was considered but consoles couldn't handle it
*They said it would be ”Anime inspired”.*
*What we got was trash.*
Too bad they didn't keep the heat style loading screen.
I still want nfs heat 2 unbound is ok tbh
This is too brave, they wouldn't go for it
The only need for speed game I didn't like the most or even play because of anime thing
If the next NFS eventually got made, personally i rather they put a focus gameplay aspect (Handling, Deeper Costumization, UI, etc) Rather then making a lot of new content and asset. They can make more content on the update, kinda like what unbound did
Crazy stuff for sure
Pants man mageeeee!!!
Yeah the trailer may have not given me a migraine
Need get read of cartoon look for characters
I would had been a bit better , sad they chose not to keep most of this stuff
I’m honestly really happy that we got unbound’s style as it is because it’s so refreshing in comparison to before being so flavorless, I hope we get more anime style racing games like Unbound. But if they go comic book art, graffiti and street art style with realistic characters next I’m okay with it cuz every nfs needs a new theme. But I hope nfs feel more alive and passionate from now on like heat and Unbound.
I loved the art style they went with unbound I think it was new and something they nvr did and they did a good job for the amount of time they had. Really wish they gave more time to the devs.
@@YTKCOOKIES Yeah the campaign was such drag, if it had heats gameplay loop I would have loved unbound but the multiplayer had to carry the game entirely but I hope this means future nfs have better campaigns like heat accompanied with robust online like unbound. I seriously hope the next one starts with the same modes available to unbound with several improvements.
I hate people. Unbound coulda been so much cooler.
Hate it they add paywalls battle pass etc. NFS 2015 did it right free and relicense old music from older nfs titles
Happy birthday 🎂 vi va la pantsso.
Considering where we come from
Still messy, disappointing, BORING, and cheap. They can still fix it tho.... they just need to loosen up the BOUNDARIES OF HANDICAPPED HANDLING AND SPEED. How poorly could they have implemented the car class system in an 🤓ARcaDe🤓RaCeR🤓 was the goofiest example from them Milkshake Brain Developers 😂
