    I've watched every video on this channel pretty much. I don't own a Jeep, I never will own a Jeep either probably but I now have pretty good knowledge about the XJ, which is nice.
    Appreciate the DIY-ness and sense of humour, it keeps me coming back, just like Jimmy.

    😮 i saw the title and said nooo not led lights. I live in alaska and people are finding led lights dont produce heat so when you drive in a snow storm, the snow doesnt melt and you have to stop and clear them. But they look cool. ❤

    • @WorkshoptoWilderness
      @WorkshoptoWilderness  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They do look cool. I've experienced the smaller cube lights frosting up, not the headlights. They seem to get quite warm but I need to test them more. Thanks for watching

      I run led headlights, led ditch lights and a 40” led single row light bar. I live in Colorado and what you say is correct they just collect snow and it stays frozen. Your lights just become blocked out like a solar eclipse.. so I also run three 7” 55w HID pods right on the front of my bumper. Two yellow on the sides and and one white in the center.

    Lights look awesome and seem to do what they're designed to do! I don't really care for the wires being exposed like that though. They're just begging to be snagged on by some treacherous tree branches or the like. And nevermind all this nonsense about how or by who you get "paid" for the work you do, it's your "paycheck" you earn by the job you have! It isn't any concern or business of ours. I hope jeep sponsors you with their newest line of vehicles and supplies you with a brand new outfitted workshop complete with cameras, lights, and a team of midgets to do all the work for you!! Until then, my friend, keep pumping out this awesome content, I'm diggin it!👍🤌👌

    Hi, I think that tungsten bulbs takes longer to get bright than LED which are instant on, this is because the filament needs to warm up before maximum light output is reach… And if you remove your regular bulbs, depending on the flasher used the leds will flash faster, you would have to add a resistor to simulate the bulb resistance and make the flashing be the normal rate, or change the flasher relay to one that to not rely on the bulb resistance, if that all make sense? Love the videos and the humour, thank you.

    • @WorkshoptoWilderness

    Looks good Mike. One thing I've been wanting to do is add an amber light on my roof rack facing backwards. Something not blinding, but somewhat bright like an indicator. To be used in highly dusty or snowy situations when someone is behind me. Often times taillights can straight up disappear in dust/snow.

    • @WorkshoptoWilderness

      Thats a smart move though, more signal lights the better in some way. With the powered snow on the highway it would help to have somthing elevated

    Hi Mike. Those ditch lights are very nice! And the indicator is a great touch. Also handy when the front of the Jeep is dirty. Those indicators lights will most likely stay much cleaner higher up.
    Mike I have some 3x3 rigid lights on the front of my xj. 2 are spot and 2 are flood type. I also don’t like light bars. And because mine are all individual. I can put the light where I want it. But all my lights facing forward are below the hood. I even turn my interior dash lights down low when night driving. I find that the best. No hood glare or interior light to effect my vision.
    If you are looking for more long distance spot range. Then you might be ok up on the roof under the tent. But set back a little from the windshield. But the slightest dust/snow and it makes your vision far worse. Well that’s what I found. Before mounting any of my lights permanently I move them around a lot to see where they work best for me and my needs.

    • @WorkshoptoWilderness
      @WorkshoptoWilderness  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That sounds like a smart setup. Appreciate the info! I think I will try four or Five cube lights up high under the tent but in snow storms they will be more of a hindrance. I saw jeep sunshade that looks pretty good l though I would be very reluctant to just screw something to my sheet metal roof as advertised. Thanks for the comment and for watching.

    My xj is a limited model so it come with fog lights from factory I have done something similar to you but just ran the wires to the original fog light loom maybe you could look into getting an oem switch panel from a limited instead of fitting a switch or going from your main beam (mine don’t have indicators)

    • @WorkshoptoWilderness

    Nice looking lights. Could you not wire the blue wire to your driver side inner fuse box? My xj has the full beam fuse in there and I will piggyback off that. Not done it on an xj, but I do that on my smiley transits... I'd not thought about hood glare as I've only put spotlights on top of my transits and I've 6 spots ready for my xj. Guess she'll be getting the matt black treatment asap. Thanks for your time. Learned so much about my VM from your videos. Have you covered front and rear crankshaft seals? I got a leaky one just now.

    • @WorkshoptoWilderness
      @WorkshoptoWilderness  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't think the blue control wire draws much voltage as the lights are directly hooked to the battery. I guess its just to activate the relay to open the circuit so I don't think it will be a problem on the light harness. I guess I will see in time.
      Hood glare has always been a real pain with lights by the mirrors. I cant remove the brackets anymore though so I wanted to make something work there. Fortunately these do!
      The crankshaft seals are a pain in the ass. I loosely covered them in a clutch video. Had to pull the adapter plate to get to the camshaft seal which always leaks.. front one aswell is also annoying to change.
      Thanks for watching 👀

    • @seanbrechin9422

      I was just watching some of your clutch videos. I managed the front seal no bother. Made a wee tool for the pulley... Still a drip from between the gearbox, so rear seals ordered. I'll get stuck into some more videos and prepare myself.... Thanks for the great videos!

    If you want to switch the standard turn signals to LED as well, this is the best comprehensive video I've found on that topic, it's the video I went by when I swapped all of mine to LED: th-cam.com/video/vj7q325BTAs/w-d-xo.html
    Things to note are that in 2023 Sylvania still sells those bulbs he uses in the video, but now in a different style optimized for reflectors, with no forward facing diodes. This is fine for those who have also swapped to clear housings like the ones shown in this video, or when running at night, but daytime they are not bright enough and cannot be seen well from an angle that isn't head on. I personally wouldn't consider them safe for road use. I have switched to cheapo Yorkim LEDs I bought on amazon that are working fine so far, these have diodes on all sides of the housing, mimicking a standard bulb. Note this is not a problem for reverse lights, and the new style Sylvanias act like a second set of low beams at night.
