I'm going over my 39 Willys Overland which I with the help of a couple of advisor's (so to speak :-) ) I stuck with the original frame. I used a 1994 Chevy 4.3 v6 and 700r4, now I finally have the chance to get "A little more Get up and Go" requiring to the best of my knowledge a stronger chassis and maybe dropping the frame. I Think The MOST Important Starting Point to Mention, Is The WHEEL BASE Of The Vehicle Your Going To Put The S-10 Frame Under. If You Have 112 Wheel Base Car And A Longer Wheel Base Frame, The Fender Openings For The Wheels Will Be Off And Look Stupid. UNLESS You Shorten The Frame Somewhere In The Middle, And Then ADD Extra Frame Rail Plates At The Shortening Location To RESTRENGTHEN That Frame At The Cut. And Also The location Of The Steering Box And Column, Compared To How The Original One Was Located In The Vehicle As Well. Because When You Start Getting Into EVEN MORE Body Cutting And Alterations For The Frame Hump Over The Rear End Too, It Might Be Better To Just Repair And Update The Original Vehicle Frame To Start With... Too Much Screwing Around And Alterations Can Lead To A BIG Time Consuming And COSTLY MONEY PIT To Start Losing Interest In Completing...
hi i hope you or some else can answer my question , i see all kinds of kits and such for 40's trucks , but i got a 46 stylemaster 2dr 2 seats, am trying to find out if this kit along a S10 donor will do the trick, pls any advice,,ideas,,..thanks!!!
I have a 48 Plymouth Coupe. And a s10 already. I heard the S10 will work on car also. Will it only work on a truck. Also do you have kits for car if it will work.
I had a gentleman offer me a 1984 S10 single cab - long box 4x4, 5 speed today. The truck has 44,000 original miles on it, I would like to use the s10 chase and drive train and drop a 1947-53 chevy 3100 1/2 ton body on it. I read its hard to do with a 4X4 Frame, is this true? Secondly are there bracket kits and instructions available for a 4x4 chassis swap? Thanks, Mark

@@markhendy8369 the 4/4 frame is wider than the 2wd. I do not know of any kits made for a 4/4 no. I know from some Facebook groups it can be done but I can't help you with that sorry.
Would a plasma cutter work ok to remove these mounts as well or is it best to just use my angle grinder? I would have to go back and grind even after plasma cutting to smooth everything out.
I have a question about the front bumper bracket. Now 1982 to 1985 had the bumper brackets bolted on would I have to cut anything off more if mine were bolted on

Truck frames are the same you can put a 82 body on a 02 frame. My 90 body is on a 98 frame the 94 and up frames are boxed further back. . and you dont need to cut a damn hole to take engine mounts off. I been building these trucks since 1987 .
Isaac Carranza my s10 came with the 3.08 rear end which I believe was the most common with the 85 year. I also have a 2.79 rear end out of a 69 but was told with a 350 sb it was doggish off the line. I would think a 3.08 or similar would be ok with a 5.3

This is for a 47-54 chevy AD pickup thats why he wants the 118 frame (short cab long bed) wheel base is almost perfect.

We suggest you remove the original brackets and use the ones included in the kit.

As long as it's 2WD, depending on the year truck you are putting on it, you will have to modify the frame

Yes, you are correct! We remove everything rubber because we got our frames sandblasted and powder coated. Then they get replaced with new ones.
