The Hyundai Kia PCV Valve Location and Replacing It
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 3 ส.ค. 2021
- Let's locate and find the hidden Hyundai Kia PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve and replace it on a 2013 Hyundai 3.3L Santa Fe. The PCV is designed to release pressure inside the engine block. It also has emission reducing qualities. The details on how to locate and replace the valve are fairly simple once you know where it is located. Thanks for stopping by the Ozzstar's Cars cannel. -Glen (Ozz)

been looking for the location of my PCV valve on my 2014 santa fe XL for years...this is the first video to finally explain where it is and how to get to it...thanks very much!
@fabriceprevost9353 exactly why I made the video because nobody knew where the PCV was located on a 3.3L
Hey Glen! The manufacturer really hid that valve for sure. And I knew that the job was going to go well because I could hear the birds in the background singing happy songs. 😁
They were chirping away on a sunny day and my buddy Chaos was out of town! haha
Thank you for taking the time to create this video. It is very helpful for me and other ladies out here doing maintenance on our own vehicles.
Sure thing Trisha, glad the video was helpful to you!
Glen, not easy nowadays, and the knowledge needed is off the charts but you make it look easy because of your knowledge. Keep those videos coming, Thank you…
Thanks buddy I appreciate the kind words, hope all is good with you.
Thank you for making this video. Very helpful.
Ozzstar's Cars.... Awesome video brother.. What a crazy place to put the PCV valve. Thanks for sharing it..
Sure is crazy. I appreciate your comment my friend.
Thank you for this video - I’m attempting to change the valve in my 2017 Santa Fe this weekend and this sure gave me some direction!
Glad I could help
Thanks for the informative video. Today's modern engines require a functioning PCV valve more than I realized, I ordered the part and am installing it this weekend. I changed the spark plugs, coils and intake manifold gasket in my 2014 Sorento 3.3 V6 six months ago but I didn't realize that the PCV valve was located under the throttle body. Shucks, now I have to go through the whole process of removing the air box, wire harnesses, hoses and throttle body again to install the new valve. I'll change the air filter and throttle body gasket while I have the it all apart again too. Nevertheless I was lucky to come across this video. Two thumbs up Glen!
Now you know Slim.😉 Thanks for your comment!
Really appreciated this video. I helped my brother to change out my PCV valve on my 2014 Kia Sorento. Was so easy to follow. Thank you in a million😊
You're welcome -Glen
Great video! Very detailed and informative. Thanks!!!
Glad you liked it Reamon.
I like your video and just figured out the question for the PCV in my 2016 Santa Fe 3.3L. Thank you!
Mystery solved! Thanks
Thank you for the great video and tutorial. Much appreciated sir!
No problem Pete, you're welcome!
Such good instruction, every detail..yes! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
You have helped me out a lot. Thanks
Good news Kevin. You're welcome. -Glen
Another great job Glen. Whatever possessed them to hid it is beyond me. I can remember when you could see valves no problems, guess they don’t make them like they used to
This is the new school of design. Gone are the good old days.
Learn to read the manual
They hide them to get 100$ an hour labor bruh. Very obvious
Thanks a bunch, just replaced my valve using your video. Only one I could find on the 3.3l V6 Hyundai.
Awesome. That's exactly why I made the video.👍
Needed this. Thanks!
You got it!
A lot of people are asking about the PCV and oil burning. It is a possible scenario as well as a clogged air filter. All related to high manifold vacuum operation. Which is very light throttle, steady highway driving or idling. I believe that the catalytic converter will vaporize some oil so you may not see it or smell it. This could be the only way my Kia will go through a quart in 400 miles of 75 mph driving. No drips, bone dry underneath, no smoke that I can see, no smell.
Kias are the worst. It's the gdi trash. I burn oil in a cadenza, and have with multiple models.
finally i know where is located this valve thank you
You got it Armando!
Awsome video. You helped me out tremendously
That's awesome Dino! Thanks for stopping by.
Thanks for the video!
You're welcome Jason
Nice job!
Thanks Marc
Awesome video Glenn! Great content on your channel.
Go Eagles! CAaaAwwww!!
Thanks Mike!
Thank you for this video! I was getting a very small amount of white yellow foam buildup on the inside of the oil cap, just about the size of a coin, so not a head gasket leak or anything. I am pretty sure it was because water vapors were not being sucked back out of the motor. Everything was the same procedure on my 2016 Kia Sedona LX 3.3l!
Short drives under 10 minutes can cause excessive condensation in the crankcase. I've seen it many times.
Great job! Like from Ingushetia.
Thank you!
Great video Thx!
You're welcome Clint
Excelente no savia como cambiar para cambiar la válvula pcv de 2013 HYUDAI Santa fe sport pero con éste video ya se donde va
Thankyou
What kind car is that? Holly caw. You had to remove the whole car to get a simple part. WOW. that's why I will keep my cars forever.
Sometimes it's not easy that's for sure.
What a clever place to hide a pcv valve. What will they think of next? 🤣 Nice work Glen
lol
Wow 4k oil changes. I do 6500k, been running good. Great video. 👍
The max oil change on all of my vehicles is 4500 miles. I don't worry about time.
@@ozzstars_carsI'm lucky to get 4500 with fully synthetic oil that is top line with additives that guarantees 20k lol. I wish I could expose those lies and be compensated. And that's with a 7 qt size, I burn a qt every 500 miles maybe
Now I am mad, did not know the valve was there. I decided to do the plugs (can you imagine what the dealer charges for that?), which, as you mentioned, includes removing the battery, airbox, manifold (and manifold gasket), hoses, connectors etc, and I though, man, one of those coil packs in the back go bad, I am doing this all over again (the front are easy to get to). So, I changed the coil packs while there.
If I would have known the PVC valve was there, I would have spent the 12 bucks to change that too.
The good news is I don't have to take the manifold off to change this valve.
gud pm sir. why my oil from the engine D4CB is going out to the the exhuase manifold. THANKS SIR for any advise
Would you happen to have the intake manifold gasket part #
Thanks
You got it Dan!
Next time I change my oil out I will change it out to 👍
Same engine placement in a 17' Santa fe
Nice job Glen! How you found it needed replacement? Thanks!
I got several questions about where the PCV valve was located from viewers that I decided to film it during the spark plug change. Thanks Wally
Hi. I need help locating a pvc valve in a hyundai h100 2007 engine
lot of work but good directions.😁
Thanks for the great video! It is very informative. I am requesting you make a video showing how to use CRC GDI Intake Valve and Turbo Cleaner (or your favorite product) through the PVC intake hose. A Hyundai tech on a different thread stated "Just need to find a vacuum hose(I used the PCV intake hose) and spray in bursts until the can is empty with a helper in the car holding the revs at 2k RPM". Yet another tech stated " We have a cleaner that we run through the injectors via the inlet at the high pressure pump as well as a spray that goes into the intake to clean the throttle body and the intake valves". Curious how you would go about performing this service, considering there are so many different opinions. Thank you!
Put a bottle of Techron concentrate in the fuel tank. Works wonders. amzn.to/3ucOTfh
@@ozzstars_cars Not on a GDI engine 😕
@espedale without a major service that's all you can do for this particular car. Some manufacturers like Ford have incorporated both GDi and standard FI, solely to clean the back of the intake valves.
THANK YOU for being a great teacher, SUBBED!.. I own the same vehicle (2015 Sanfa Fe Limited: 80k miles) and have learned so much from you, i appreciate you. Do you think that installing a Oil Catch Can would help prolong the life of the engine or using the CRC VALVE CLEANERS?
Oil catch cans in my opinion are a waste of time and money. Adding some injector cleaner in the fuel tank every 6-10k miles can't hurt. Thanks Miguel for your channel support!
@@ozzstars_cars Yes, Oil Catch Can is a little attractive way to deal with oil flying into the DPF. Moreover, at first glance it seems that you don’t have to worry at all, the oil after DPF regeneration will leave behind only a small fraction of the original weight / volume, ~% 0.8 ash. That is, the DPF will fill with oil ash for a long time.
However, before regeneration occurs, between DPF burns, unburned oil will occupy a large volume in the DPF itself, increasing the frequency of regeneration. And the maximum amount of soot in the regeneration cycle for Hyundai is very small 17g (and even less than 17-3.88g). Such a situation may occur that the burns will take place every 50-100 km. Am I wrong (?) and what should I do in this case?
@Ozzstar's Cars, Soot Accumulation Rate in the DPF on the highway jumps from 6km/g to 15km/g under similar or identical conditions (equal to speed, slope, etc.) Could this be indicative of a PCV valve sitting?
When you are reassembling, do you have what the torque settings are for the four bolts holding the throttle body? I've looked for days and can't find them. I'm replacing the PCV valve on a 2019 Kia Sorento 3.3L. On another note, I was browsing your videos about Corvettes just for fun. I restored a 71, body on, then found a 70 LT1 that I spent ten years searching for number correct parts, did a full off frame restoration breaking down every nut and bolt and rebuilding everything to NCRS spec, I have to say in all honesty about the C3's, they really were a bucket of bolts, beautiful styling but still a Detroit bucket of bolts. On the upside, I had an '84 that everyone cussed for the crossfire fuel injection, but I did mostly highway miles and had 313,000 on it when I sold it running great and that crossfire never gave a bit of problem.
313k miles on that crossfire has to be a record! I don't know the exact throttle body bolt torque specs for your Kia but I go two ugga duggas and have never had a problem. Btw, early C3's are my favorite classic Corvette, for the styling and simplicity. Thanks for your comment. -Glen (Ozz)
Will changing the PCV help remedy the excessive internal oil consumption on my 2014 Kia Soul?
I doubt it but a proper compression and leak down test will help figure out where that oil is mysteriously disappearing to.
That looks like my open and easily accessed Tucson engine bay crammed with a v6
You can affort a snap-on ratchet. Best ratchet on the market
Apologies in advance, I'm not a mechanic but do diesel have these pcv valves? I'm getting white/gray smoke and P0404 on my Kia optima which is something about the egr valve, would I need to replace the pressure converter I think that's what's its called
Diagnose and test before replacing any parts. That saves time e and money.
Mine is a Sorento 3.5l V6. Can’t find it on the engine. Any ideas?
Basic question. Is this a recommended replacement for Hyundai cars? What are the codes or symptoms of a defective
PCV valve?
I discuss the operation of the pcv in this video.
Hello, this video on replacing a spark plug and the one on the oil pressure switch were both incredibly helpful to me socially. However, I had a problem that needs your assistance to be resolved.
I followed your instructions to change the oil pressure switch on my 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe, but when I got to the last step, I hammered a little too hard and a piece of the aluminum threaded housing broke off.
It was actually my fault; I had seen another video in which the mechanic was hammering, but since it was my first time, I was unable to perform the final step correctly and felt as though I had missed everything.
I couldn't believe how quickly I disassembled those pieces of parts until I got to the underneath oil pressure switch. However, there wasn't enough room to turn the switch, which forced me to look at other videos to find the best solution for my circumstances.
What is the best way to fix this switch holder and re-tap it again, I wonder.
Also, please send me the steps I need to take in order to disassemble the metal coolant pipe so I can decide whether to use cold or hot welding on that portion.
I value your prompt response.
This guy only cares about likes etc. He does not care about any of us or our issues he may have helped to create. Dont hold your breath waiting for a response
do you have the video on how you clean the throttle body
I have over 300 automotive repair videos here on TH-cam but don't think I have a throttle body cleaning video.
Hi, in your vid you replaced the pcv of a gas engine.mine is diesel powered and I can't find it would you happen to know where the pcv is in a diesel engine accent? Tyvm
Sorry no diesel Hyundai's here. Don't know.
Would this be a good starting point for oil consumption on a 2016 sorento w/49k
Not really but it's worth a look see.
@@ozzstars_cars kia told us that its a known issue and they would put some kind of solution in the cylinders to free up the rings...other videos and forums say to immediately change the pcv valve and run thicker oil. I mean what kind of solution??? Like seafoam or berrymans?
I have a 2015 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 - would this be the same service as this Hyundai Santa Fe?
Pretty much.
On a 2016 Kia Optima 2.4L LX MODEL where do you spray CRC INTAKE AND VALVE CLEANER
Usually at the throttle body.

That's the same engine in the video.
So can I access mine the same on my 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe v6?
I would say yes since that's the same car in the video.
Could that be any more awkward to get to ? Thanks for the video
I know right?
What year, model& engine?

No, 2013 3.3L V6.
@@ozzstars_cars what a relief. Thanks 😊
Nice tutorial! Hyundai and Kia should keep it simple as always! This whole process reminds me of european cars, yikes!!!
What are the manufactures thinking by hiding the valve .Remember the days when the valve was right on top.
I sure do Jim. Pop it in and out in 10 seconds. haha
Kia Sorento also has the other PCV Valve at the original top location. So do Kias have 2 PCV Valves???
@@ForceOnTwoWheels
My 2016 Kia Optima hybrid (2.4 L.) has it on top front , I wonder if there’s more than one?
@@torobravo8023 Hello Toro Encabronado, I only replaced the one valve and didn't bother to check the other location to see if there is one, because it is sort of buried in there.
@@ForceOnTwoWheels
Cool😎 ,
On my 2012 Hyundai Accent, it is burning too much oil. Like it is under the minimum after 1000 miles. There are no leaks around. Engine is 1.6L (not turbo). So, it is obviously burning it somewhere. Is it possible that I'm losing so much oil because of the PCV valve? Car has 65,000 miles.
Anything is possible. Compression test. Cylinder leak down test. Check for worn out piston rings or leaky valve seals. Good luck.
You disconnected the battery without a battery keep? I hope you plan on resetting all the radio, sirus xm and navigation presets for the customer!! That can take a lot of time to do!
Ooops.
Please let me know Hyundai Verna Diesel car has a PCV valve? If yes, please let me know where is it located?
Diesel engines have a pvc system?
@@ozzstars_cars I am asking you about the presence or absence of PCV valve in diesel cars.....
Can anyone confirm this is the same location on a 2013 Kia Sportage? It's running a little rough at 95k and makes a minor throaty growl sound at low speeds with low rpm
Is it a 3.3L? Then yes
@@ozzstars_cars it's a 2.4 liter engine. I found the part on several major auto stores so at least I know a pcv valve exists somewhere in my kia 😂 I went ahead and ordered one and hopefully it pops up around the same area
I'm so curious if you replaced this and if it resolved that sound for you? I've been having the same and Googled everything I can think of and can't quite find the problem. I get a rumbling/growl intermittently but only at idle, park or real low acceleration. Seems once it's moving I don't have it. Mines a 2017 hyundai santa fe but I'm wondering if this would be a fix.
@@cuppscraps hey there! Well as it turns out, the problem appeared to be caused by going too long between oil changes. We were off by a whole year in our memory of when the last oil change was and realized it had gone 23,000 miles since then! It wasn't soup yet but definitely burned old oil and I'm sure there was sludge. I noticed the dipstick had crusty burned oil all over it that was very hard to get off... So I'm sure that same stuff was all over the inside of the engine, causing problems. What I ended up doing, first, changing the oil, then immediately adding seafoam to new oil, ran it 300 miles, changed oil again. I also used seafoam spray through the throttle body. And do new plugs. That seemed to help. I never got around to changing the pcv but the little tune up above seemed to help. Unfortunately the Kia was totalled after I got sideswiped by an uninsured a-hole at 80mph.. so we will never know how much life the engine had left
@@chadg6874 oh no!! 😣 but thanks for the reply, that gives me some things to try regardless once I read up on the seafoam and a couple other things I was going to do (sparkplugs) seems either can't hurt to start. Thanks!

Never worked on one, sorry don't know.
I see the valve but man I can't get good access to the clamp. its so frustrating!

Looks like you'd be better off with some dynamite 🧨! 😂
That's crazy that you have to go through all that for a pcv valve on any car! That's criminal! 😂
Sure do. Go figure?
The lengths they went through to hide the pcv valve, seems intentional
It is what it is.
they need that to justify their high labor cost 🙈
I have to change the one on my mini van, I will be cursing it and calling it bad names.
Sure will Joe!
2018 santa fe sport awd.....had a new long block replacement done at 74 thou. We bought it used with 75 thou. It has mega oil consumption issues. Only had the car 2 months. Gonna change the pcv, if that don't work I'm going back to the dealership where we got the piece of shit
I don't blame you for taking it back. The engine needs a leak down and compression test. Rings and valve seals if no oil puddle is on the ground.

@ozzstars_cars ...hyundai told us its normal oil usage. They are not helping us pr doing anything about it. I even contacted the corporate offices and asked about the huge lawsuit that pertains to the issue but they said there's nothing they can do. We talked to a lawyer and of course they want money to forward letters to hyundai Corp. Its a nightmare and I wouldn't buy a hyundai or a Kia if you give me one for free. @@michaelmitchell5909 Did you change the PCV valve ? I'm in the same boat and don't want to waste my time if it's not helping... Thanks!
Well clearly the manufacturer is in the "no need to replace this" camp. Geez that's a pain for what I'd consider a regular service item.
A few steps involved that's for sure. I hope your summer is gong well Matt.
They want you to pay the mechanic for everything😡
