And the only way to get the Glyn Johns version is to fork out for the entire set.
The single version of Don't Let Me Down is on the 'Let It Be EP' in this set. I suspect the Get Back single and You Know My Name remixes are being saved for a reissue of Past Masters. Valid point about the length of the CDs. Although there's no guarantee they'd have sold this box for less if it had the same music content but one less CD...A nice gatefold 2LP with Let it Be as disc 1 and Get Back as disc 2 would have been cool.

Those weren't 'bad' per se, they just obviously don't sound as well as an original UK or even German. The 80s Capitol rainbow series was pressed by Allied or Specialty and they did good work. Wally Traugutt mastered some of those, they were among the best American pressings.
@@casperguylkn At least in Canada, the rainbow pressings (starting 1983) seemed like Capitol smartened up. Most orange or purple label 70s pressings by Capitol I've found are WAY off-center, though a centered and clean purple label pressing (deeper/more dynamic recuts, starting 1978) can sound really nice.
Thanks for the comparison of both sets. While I only ordered the CD set, I would love to get a copy of the Glyn Johns Get Back LP on it's own. Secondly, it appears the Apple "label" on the CDs is more attractive than the reproduction on the LP labels. It's got a darker tone that is more in line with the original style. Finally, it's somewhat disappointing to see how the LP cover artwork has degraded somewhat with the reissue, with poorer image quality. Perhaps they no longer have the original negatives and are just working from scans. Another reason to stick with the originals.
6:45 I am not a fan of the new Apple design at all, it's also on the Abbey Road remix LPs and the Singles Collection 45s. I think it just looks really fake. I don't know why they can't just pull the original design and use that (BTW Andrew, your like disappeared when I fixed one of my spellings)
I hate the reissue Apple labels. I think they must have lost the original artwork after the initial Apple Records reissues circa 1992 (Badfinger's Ass from the second batch of reissues looks like a tinted black and white photo) - they've never looked right since!
I added the Super Deluxe to my Apple Music library. It’s 24/96 Apple Digital Master on iOS, 24/48 on tvOS. The ATMOS mix is for the Spector version, the Johns “Get Back” is stereo.
Very interesting comparisons, especially with the book having a different texture in different sets. I feel like they should've reproduced the original 1970 box set too for those seeking originality. I'm looking forward to hearing your opinion on the new remix, Andrew!
I expect Ringo & Paul have copies but will they ever listen ?? BTW I would much rather the Please Please Me & With The Beatles albums were remixed in true stereo..
@@christopherchadwick480 Years ago I copied both the instrumental channels from a stereo cassette onto both channels & was amazed at the extra depth & sounds that you can't really hear on the old twin track stereo, there was a DESS Japanese version going around of the Please Please Me Album with spread instruments & centered vocals a few years ago that you could listen to but not download so it is possible to revive the early tracks..
I bit the bullet and got the set but I cut down on buying new vinyl so I could get it. I got sold on the Get Back book watching TH-cam videos. But that's me finished on music related purchases for this month.
Hi Andrew I have the original Get Back book, but the book as come away the spine . I was wondering if you knew whether it could be repaired ?The pages are all stuck together. Thanks
Thank you for the unboxing. I’m still waiting for my CD deluxe set. It’s supposed to arrive on Tuesday. In regards to the cover photos and labels, I prefer the original.
Andrew, I hope this doesn't mean there's no video on Sunday 😆 I noticed the red apple logo on the book from the LP box. How strange they didn't use it on the LP back cover too... 🧐 The green apple in the LP's sticker isn't anywhere near the original. Too much Photoshop in my opinion. But, great unboxing video! Thanks a lot!!! 😊
Nice unboxing video! I loved it! I will get the vinyl set. Maybe I’ll pick up the CD set later down the road. I’m exited for the new film (mini series? Don’t know what to call it exactly) that will be out this November!!
LOL the Blu-ray (being audio only), has a 16:9 ratio! As if anyone would notice the difference. Interesting the Apple image on the Blu-ray (sleeve and disc) is the red apple; thus more 'authentic', when comparing the original sleeve design. Incidentally, are the photos better quality on the CD/Blu-ray packaging than the new LP sleeves? I just wonder, as this may be why the LP ones are not as clear/clean when compared with the original LP; perhaps they were simply blown up from the CD covers? This would explain the difference, perhaps? I think the inner of the book looks better via the CD box; the LP book looks a bit more 'spaced out' as you said.
Great unboxing video as always👍 I received my CD box set yesterday and so far have listened to the remixed original album and really enjoyed it. Btw I notice you keep the cellphone wrapper on, I always just rip mine off lol Keep up the good work, always enjoy your excellent videos😉
Really interesting comparisons, thanks for doing this. I bought the Get Back book and honestly I think it is enough along with the long time waiting final release of the film. I'm not a big fan of the Let It Be album, although some songs are amazing, among their best! While I was living in London I bought an original UK box-set early pressing with the red apple and I'm totally satisfied with this! Rgards
Really is a handsome set 👍🏻too bad about the colors. I think they picked the apple too soon from the tree on the new one ;). Wonder what prints they have and what they use? I would think that the big guys would have original photos etc to use to make prints? Reminds me of the Beatles 1 promo videos set as far as color saturation. Still, I really dig that outter box. And the entire set looks tiddy. Look forward to your review on the sound aspects! (Im usually not a fan of Miles half speed's for the most part, nor Giles remixes. Now we have the Beatles MilesGiles'd..we shall see)
Definitely my favorite mix of this album, best Beatles mix I've heard as far as what I listen for (subtlety and separation). I've only gotten through part the main album, I peeked in on the extras but was anxious to compare to my 2009 RM.
This set satisfies the 10 year old me from 1980 and the 50 year old me. I am loving it, between the box and the Get Back book. Andrew, you really need to get the hardcover book! It's really top notch. Thanks for the video. Great as always.
About this marvelous vinyl and CD archive I'd want to make a question: "is there in the middle of the released Get Back recordings the track called "On our way back home" or the rhythm version of "Two of us"?
Great review. I initially ordered cd and Blu-ray version of box set for sound quality and Dolby Atmos. Saw various reviews and thought that vinyl box set looked more attractive and so bought that too. Look forward to listening to the two sets. It is depressing though that once again none of these discs are manufactured in the UK.
In1970, I was 13 years old. I had a small reel to reel tape recorder that my older brother gave me, and I would record music off the radio all the time. When I heard that KTSA radio was going to have a "Big T Exclusively" which was The Beatles new album "Get Back, I set up my recorder and recorded as much as I could of the new album. I still have that tape and listened to it about a month ago. So I can say, without a doubt, that the "Get Back" CD that is included in the box set is not the original "Get Back" album that they were going to release in 1969-70. It is close, the closest they have ever gotten, but not the Glyn John's original. For one thing, "Maggie Mae" was not on the original configuration of the album, for another, they cleaned the feedback that was heard in the original "Teddy Boy" mix. I know that there are four different compilations of the Glyn John "Get Back", and with this one it makes five, but it is not as Glyn John mastered it. I actually do have a copy of the original "Get Back" that I heard on the radio. After many years of looking for it, I found a bootleg copy of it on CD about 20 or so years ago, and I can compare it to the recording I made in 1969-70, and can verify it is the original. But I do love the sound of the one on the new release. Just thought you'd like to know. Thanks for the review.
Nice unboxing, by the way can someone tell me why some people want the Glynn Johns album separate, I don't get it. nice comparison between LP and CD's look forward to the actual review.
BTW, a nitpick, but a notable thing is that there was a need to put '1969 Glyn Johns Mix" on the label for the Get Back LP. Who are they addressing this to? Not only was this unnecessary, but on top of this that would have been untrue to what the record would have looked like had it been released to the public.
Let it be was the first Beatles album I bought and remains a favourite. Over the years, reading about how the band disowned the project until they had to do something I've realised it's basically a Phil Spector album with the Fabs relegated to session musicians on their own record. The Glyn John's mixes, their are two, are little more than ruff mixes in possible running order and somewhat mythologised. What I'd really like is a good mixdown of the rooftop concert, the 4 track recordings exist(ed) because Spector used some for the album. The only version I've heard is from the unedited film sound tapes.
squire, I tend to agree with you. The Boys (RIP John and George), are Milking The Beatles to death. I mean, When I was 13 in 1964, they were Revolutionary , changed the World and Rock and Roll / Pop forever !! But now, with Streaming, you can listen to HiFi quality music at your finger tips. I got the White Album Box set release and Abbey Road box set Cds for Xmas presents last year and the year before. I have played them perhaps 2X since. I also purchased Remastered Rubber Soul and Revolver Cds in the past year and probably listened to them 3X in the past year. I just saw the 6 CD Disk Box set at Walmarts for $117.99 ???? . Actually, the tunes, Let It Be & Long And Winding Road has been soooo overplayed over the many years, and probably can do without it.
I have a Canadian pressing of the new 2021 mix of Let It Be. It sounds terrible with a ton of surface noise including VERY visible crackles and pops. I wonder how the European Pressing sounds like. I have a Optimal pressing of Please Please Me and it sounds amazing! I would expect the same quality with that LP!
George and John looking on from the heavens and seeing Leader Paul hogging the big picture and foreword so he gets to have his version of the dying embers as the forever last word and testament. Well done Leader Paul.
Thank you for comparing the sleeve and label with an original. I can't say I'm particularly impressed by the cover reproduction. Do you think the diffent font is to distinguish this as the Giles version or just sloppy work?
Is the back cover of the Get Back LP a custom for this release? One of my complaints with this set is the printing on the back of the Get Back CD is VERY difficult to read. Also - is the booklet in any way like the original booklet from 1970?

The new apple is terrible! The bottom right has been hacked off and the color values flattened.
I hate the reissue Apple labels. I think they must have lost the original artwork after the initial Apple Records reissues circa 1992 (Badfinger's Ass from the second batch of reissues looks like a tinted black and white photo) - they've never looked right since!
@@sproutstanding The ones on the White Album anniversary box actually look pretty good (like the original UK label)
@@chrismcgovern1647 I didn't know that - I'll have to take a closer look (I got the cd set for that reissue)
Will be interesting to see a review of the blue ray (2 channel) compared to vinyl.
Hi Andrew Good to see you at 15.09 . Glad to see that you don't wear a cap indoors all the time .
I still have my vinyl copy of Let it Be I bought in 1970 when I was 10 years old.
I know what you mean but I find the extreme ping-ponginess of the stereo Please please me just adds to its raw charm.
As much as I'd love to own these various new box sets, I just don't have the kind of cash. Maybe one day.
I hear ya. It is expensive. I’m splurging on one myself because it’s my birthday Sunday.
Same here, my hearing is not 100% these days so I will probably leave it...
One day will be much more expensive.
I bit the bullet and got the set but I cut down on buying new vinyl so I could get it. I got sold on the Get Back book watching TH-cam videos. But that's me finished on music related purchases for this month.
Keep your eye out,in a few months on eBay you'll prob be able to get what your looking for
Hi Andrew I have the original Get Back book, but the book as come away the spine . I was wondering if you knew whether it could be repaired ?The pages are all stuck together. Thanks
I got mine today. So excited. I pray they do Rubber Soul and Revolver next.
Thank you for the unboxing. I’m still waiting for my CD deluxe set. It’s supposed to arrive on Tuesday.
In regards to the cover photos and labels, I prefer the original.
No matter how great the box is or could be, and I haven't listened to my vinyl box yet, the originals are best.
Good stuff Andrew!
Andrew, I hope this doesn't mean there's no video on Sunday 😆
I noticed the red apple logo on the book from the LP box. How strange they didn't use it on the LP back cover too... 🧐
The green apple in the LP's sticker isn't anywhere near the original. Too much Photoshop in my opinion.
But, great unboxing video! Thanks a lot!!! 😊
Thanks Michael. No video this Sunday but I'll be back with my review next weekend.
Nice unboxing video! I loved it!
I will get the vinyl set. Maybe I’ll pick up the CD set later down the road.
I’m exited for the new film (mini series? Don’t know what to call it exactly) that will be out this November!!
To me, the old Apple looks like an apple, and the new Apple looks like a picture of an apple. Enjoy and take care...
Slight degradation from zooming is a very valid theory I can agree with
The EP plays at 45rpm. Hopefully this is a trend that continues.
Cool to know, thank you!
Great unboxing video as always👍 I received my CD box set yesterday and so far have listened to the remixed original album and really enjoyed it. Btw I notice you keep the cellphone wrapper on, I always just rip mine off lol Keep up the good work, always enjoy your excellent videos😉
Thanks, Tony!
have the 2 cd set really enjoy it and i would love the glyn johns mix on cd by itself myself too
Really interesting comparisons, thanks for doing this. Rgards
Thanks for the unboxing...now I we know how is inside....l gonna keep mine never open it...am sure along the time gonna be more and more expensive
Now we have the Beatles MilesGiles'd..we shall see)
Great video ! Can’t wait to get the 6 disc Deluxe set today !
Excelente unboxing amigo, saludos desde Chile. Muy didáctico para decidirse por cual comprar jajaja. O bien los 2 box set 💪🏻
Definitely my favorite mix of this album, best Beatles mix I've heard as far as what I listen for (subtlety and separation). I've only gotten through part the main album, I peeked in on the extras but was anxious to compare to my 2009 RM.
for sure. unfortunately most of the 2009 mixes are horrendous
@@Spiderboyish Very thin in comparison was my conclusion.
By "Best Beatles mix", you mean amongst the recent releases? Like 2017's Sgt Pepper's?
@@Slammy555 after having listened to it for about a week, I must admit that some of the songs sound thin and some of the guitars aren't loud enough
This set satisfies the 10 year old me from 1980 and the 50 year old me. I am loving it, between the box and the Get Back book. Andrew, you really need to get the hardcover book! It's really top notch. Thanks for the video. Great as always.
the inside gatefold of the jams is very similar to the original US Let It BE Gatefold using different fotos
Paul, where did you buy both box sets?
@@Chiroman527 Boringly through SDE/Amazon UK
15:54 Probably the only instance we could see you on camera without your signature hat.
Very nice sets
Can't wait for mine, great video😊
Thank you, Oliver. Have fun with yours.
Well, here it finally is - 57 songs and 2hrs 45 mins.
I doubt if anyone will play it all through more than once.
squire, I tend to agree with you.
Great unboxing, hope to buy one of those box set soon!
Love this channel
'It is how I want to remember The Beatles'. Ominous words
George and John looking on from the heavens and seeing Leader Paul hogging the big picture and foreword so he gets to have his version of the dying embers as the forever last word and testament. Well done Leader Paul.
Yes well done Billy.
I'm just disappointed that you didn't have your flat cap on sir!
MILES in the dead wax stands for quality !!
Unfortunately this is one of a few Beatle albums I don't have in my collection! This seems a good start!
Mine, the vinyl deluxe one, is coming in later today, can’t wait.
Thank you for comparing the sleeve and label with an original. I can't say I'm particularly impressed by the cover reproduction. Do you think the diffent font is to distinguish this as the Giles version or just sloppy work?
I may be buying the vinyl box set of Let It Be. Covid has impacted my income however. But I might as well get it and enjoy it.
I ordered this Lp as well why do you suppose the labels are green instead of red?
Is the back cover of the Get Back LP a custom for this release? One of my complaints with this set is the printing on the back of the Get Back CD is VERY difficult to read. Also - is the booklet in any way like the original booklet from 1970?
Young Master Andrew, you' re one lucky person. Living in Austria, gets you to buy one of quality pressings in the World, from neighbouring Germany. But for your job purposes i understand why you have to be " fresh," but every time when some reissue, repressing of any Beatles album,no matter how some one like it or not,i don' t think that i need to buy it. Bankruptsy it' s not an option. Cheers! 🖐️ Just looking you compare old and new " colors," makes me sure not to buy it,my gut feeling was wright. Thank you very much for objectivity. Now i' m sure why i watch all your videos. You " dare," to compare Japenes and us European about package! 😂😂😂😂
Not all American Apple sleeves had "The Beatles On Apple" printed on them. I've had several (including several Beatles 45's) that had the simpler Apple on the sleeve.
I sure enjoyed seeing all of this what a fantastic set . I thought this day would never come but this is like Christmas that’s for sure. I sure enjoyed seeing this I’m looking forward to my Seth coming but I’m on holiday right now and should be getting it very soon when I get home. I think the labels are a little bit faded out on the vinyl sap interesting that’s for sure but I think it won’t lack in sound quality or enjoyment. Thanks so much for the video I hope you’re doing well my friend take care all the best to you cheers. 👍🌟🙂‼️‼️
Thanks for watching, Brad. Enjoy your holiday and your set. All the best to you!
:").
Thank you :) so much !!!
I got the 2 CD set, since I got the 2CD of Pepper and Abbey Road, as well as the 3 CD set of white. I still haven’t listened to it, but if I do like the remix I’ll be sure to get the vinyl box that was featured in this video
Thought the original album had red apple on the bottom of the back cover. Yet when you showed the album it had a green Apple label? My copy is red and red.
