I noticed the difference in Atom pro 2 immediately! Much clearer, less distortion, a bit better directional hearing, a big improvement in overall hearing & less background noise. I love mine & had been wearing atom pro for over a year, when I tried these. They are a godsend to me, as my hearing was devastated by chemo 3 yrs ago. I love them can't say enough! Good review here...Thank you...!
Thank you for sharing this video.I have been thinking of trying a pair of otc hearing aids but just totally confused with the different ones out there. It's kind of funny I seen a add for these and actually looking at them online today, then this video of yours pops up. Again thanks for sharing.
My Audien Atom Pro 2 arrived today and I am about 5 hrs into wearing it. I am 79 and it does a good job for me. Never used an aid before. Easy to adjust the sound and levels selection. I am a sports person (horses). I Foxhunt and an all the way into the ear canal is a must. My ear canals are small and this just fits in using the smallest hoods. The Costco Jabra may be best in ratings but hanging behind my ear with tubing then to the ear is very unappealing. Try this, for the price and features it is a complete winner. I would guess that in the next year Audiens will have an App for controling an even more robust aid.
I received a set of Audien Atom 2 Pro last week and was having a hard time getting used to them until I followed your tip to clip the dome. Now they sound great and I’m very happy . I wish they included open domes with the hearing aids. Thanks a lot for the tip!
I have the Atom Pros for about four months now, each has a volume control dial, no other features. A small screw driver comes with the kit to turn the volume dial. They absolutely amplify sound. That is a great suggestion to cut the domes. Prices on OTC hearing aid prices are coming down fast. Great review, thanks!
received my pro 2s a couple days ago. this review is ABSOLUTELY spot on . . . totally good at what they do. not great, but not $2000+. i am looking for in ear placement. compared to the MDhearing neo xs, the atom pro 2s are miles ahead in my opinion. the neo xs's are feedback MONSTERS, really hard to avoid the whistling and howling. it can be done on the neos, but never at highest volume. the pro 2s are pretty steady all the way through volume level 4. the sound is pretty natural, really not that bad at all. avoids the "tiny public address system in my head" feeling of a lot of brands and models. level 4 is more than enough amplification for my slight-to-moderate higher frequency loss. these hearing aids are truly worth the price and will help you if you just need a volume boost. thanks for the video
my pleasure! Remember, if it doesn't work out or it's not what you expected, you can always return it and try something else. But please do let us know how it goes.
I have had the Audien 89 dollar ones for about a year or so. When I got them I got my granddaughter to set the TV to the volume that she could hear the TV comfortably. It showed 18 on the downstairs tv. Then I increased the volume on my hearing aids until I could hear comfortably at 18. Seemed to be the perfect setting for me. I just ordered the Pro2. Should be here Tuesday. One thing that drives me nuts is in a restaurant I can hear all the clinking and clanking noises of silverware and dishes and such. I hope these help with that. Not expecting miracles for the price. I have been overall very happy with my cheap 89 dollar Audien hearing aids
I just got the atom pro 2 and 3 hrs in I couldnt be happier. Easy to set up. Basically plug and play. I especially love being able to adjust mode and volume without taking them out of my ears. I expect to make adjustments as time goes by, but at a sub $300 aid, I am very satisfied.
in general your vids are a+. on this one you differentiated atom 2 and atom 2 plus on charger. aton has plug in charger. Does it us a usb connection on charging case. If so one can use a power bank with usb cable. With separate UV Light Sanitizer Box you have only the supposed better audio processing. I would suspect a $20 power bank would hold more than 3 recharges. UV is UV and also likely < $20.
Ya, that's why i said I would be more comfortable with the 189 atom 2. I don't think the extra features is worth a other 100.00. And yes, im pretty sure ALL chargers run off USB these days and this one does as well, yes you can use a power bank with either charger. And thank you for the kind words.
I bought a pair of these from Amazon but returned them for credit when Audien said they didn't have me in their database after I had purchased them, and they couldn't commit to providing me with warranty support.
EXCELLENT review. Excellent presentation. I just ordered the PRO2 and then learned they do NOT have an app although I read somewhere that they do. So I will be returning them. Can you tell me what OTC ITC aids have an app? Thanks!
The ELEHEAR beyond has a great app and the hearing aids sound and work very well. Watch the review I did on it. These are what I’m recommending to pretty much everyone looking for an OTC aid under $500
Thanks for this! You don’t get enough credit IMO. My mother has a bad ear and is always saying “huh??” And everyone has to repeat themselves. It’s annoying at times. She doesn’t really care to get anything but I wanna get her something cheap like these for Christmas.
I definitely would consider something like this and i'll tell you what, if it helps her, maybe it will motivate her to buy a real hearing aid once she sees what she is missing. These would be a great first step in hearing better. And thank you so much for your kind words!
Hi! First of all, thanks for this video. So, I'm a 72 year old professional saxophonist, with moderate hearing loss, compounded, after decades of jazz gigs standing in front of the drummers' cymbals, by tinnitus (hissing). This combination makes both conversations and performing music difficult. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Excellent presentation and review! Your recommendations to manufacturers for customized frequency ranges sounds like a great idea. I will stay tuned and watch the market for OTC hearing aids because I definitely need one for one ear.
Great review, thanks for this. I had already gone ahead and purchased the Pro 2's working on the basis that I could always return them if I couldn't get along with them. I believe I will continue to use them - these are my 1st ever hearing aids and so I need to spent some time getting used to having my ears plugged :-) There are a couple of observations I would like to share: 1. the volume/program button - it is easy to use and it's nice that you can make adjustments while you have them in your ears, but... I have a job getting them into the right place to avoid feedback, and while I'm fiddling around I cant help but push the button, I'm this is something I'll et used to, but it's so annoying dealing with feedback while trying to set the volume and program. 2. I am having a hard time getting them seated so there's no feedback. Once I get them seated, it's not long before they move and I'm back to feedback. Again, I'm sure this is just a matter of getting used to handling them. Overall I think they are a great choice and definitely value for money, impressive battery life and in many ways I think simple is good, as you mentioned, even more expensive hearing aids, the difference between programs can often be minimal.
@@HearingClub I already had them at #1 volume. I've managed to eliminate the feedback by installing the large bell buds - looks like I get a better seal on the entrance to me ear canal, I can even increase the volume by at least one click.
I have severe hearing loss due to gunfire and these hearing aids changed my life. Program 4 with volume at max i can ride down the rd at 50 mph with the windows down and the wind/cars being passed sounds natural. The atom one wasn't quite so good but the pro 2 was a godsend.
I seen your videos on online hearing test and tested my ears. What I'm wondering is there somewhere to see the sound profiles of these hearing aids. You say they got 4 setting profiles but what frequencies get changed on each profile ? Keep up the good work.
Oh man, these comments are so great. I’m so happy to help. Please stop by and say a hi from time to time and if you ever have any questions, please come here and ask 😊
Question: What is a hearing AID, hearing AMPLIFIER and hearing ENHANCER ?? The lower priced units seem to use these terms interchangeably . If it cannot be programed is it a hearing aid ??
great question. When ppl say basic amplifier, they are talking about something like this atom pro 2. It's a hearig aid that doesn't amplify "certain" frequencies based on your hearing test. It just amplifies everything equally, like a flat loss. The opposite of this is a prescription hearing aid. A hearing aid doesn't amplify ALL frequencies like a basic amplifier, it only amplifies certain frequencies, the frequencies you can't hear and this is based off of your hearing test. An enhancer, thats just another loosely used term, most likely for a basic amplifier. They are ALL hearing aids. Some are very basic and some are prescription. Hope this helps, you have inspired another video idea, "basic amplifier vs prescription hearing aid"
I got mine today 11/20/24 the ringing in my ears is no more. They will take some getting used to for sure I am hearing things I never really heard before.
I tell folks that everyone produces a different amount of wax. If you produce a lot, you need to change them more frequently. You will know when it’s time to change them when the hearing aid volume starts getting lower. Eventually, they will get completely blocked with was and you will have no volume at all, it’s too late then.
Thoughts on OTC hearing aids for those with Tinnitus? I don't think I have hearing loss, just can't hear over the constant ringing in my ears. Thanks. (Audien Atom 2 Pro should be here Friday)
On the fence about OTC's. I have the "cookie Cutter" loss in the moderate to severe scale. Would these work for me or should I drain my HSA on a pair of prescription aids?? Thanks for this review!
THANKS !! for your review. Have only had the Atom Pro2 for a couple weeks and the first day I could actually hear the volumn beeps (seperately) in EACH hearing aid, as I increased the volumn etc. However, ugh...the next day I could only hear the (volumn) beeps in ONE hearing aid??Any suggestions...?? I used the same exact domes in both ears but again, just SO frustrated next day when I tried (again) listening for( volumn) beeps, and I JUST BARELY could hear the beeps in the one. I just can't figure out why?? in just one day (and case showed all green when I took them out) the one was good, and other...nope. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Can't afford other hearing aids that cost WAY MORE $$$ so was hoping this would at least help . Take care, Happy New Year 2024
See if the wax filter needs to be changed. If you have a lot of wax in your ears, it will plug up the hearing aid. These need to be changed when they become full of wax.
YES Sir...I DID replace the wax filter with 1 (of 4) that came with hearing aids was all, and cleaned ear domes off and used little brush etc. also. Wasn't sure what the ???? thing on bottom of brush is for tho? Maybe I should let them both run down completely, and recharge them in the case etc. Dunno ??? but THANK YOU for your quick reply!! and taking the time to post ALL the info. you did. Take care...
Probably not the best, if you need something that works well in noise, you will need more expensive over the counter aids or prescription hearing aids.
All hearing aids “CAN” relieve tinnitus either partially or completely. You just need to try them out. Some people get great relief some folks it just takes the edge off and some folks get zero relief.
Just got em. Lots of background noise. I can hear better....so for a couple of hundred bucks I suppose I should be satisfied. My $4000 pair fall off because of glasses, sunglasses. These stay in place.
its feedback. These do have a good possibility of feedback. You have to make sure he has the correct size dome. You need to use the biggest dome he can handle and make sure they hearing aids are in ALL THE WAY. The more volume you have, the more feedback you will get. Try turning the HA's down. If he can't use them without feedback, return them and get your money back.
Nope, feedback is the high pitch, high frequency screech when a speaker and microphone are right next to each other, which is often the case with hearing aids.
i have tried both including the bossa the atom 2 pro is the best of the three and the csr is great but i do want to say i have severe hearing lost 90 percent in right ear 60 percent left ear and lets be honest im just a working stiff 30 yr ase cert master auto tech and hearing protection wasnt eve a thing back then air hammers air tools lol .. so i would love and need prescription aids but no way i can aford them so these atom 2 pros will do
I’m assuming he’s tried different domes and making sure they are fully inserted. If he has done the above and still gets feedback, I would take them back and try a different brand with better feedback suppression.
@@HearingClub I've been using pro2 for over a month and was able to figure out how to eliminate feedback over that time. It was frustrating, but patience proved it's worth. I love them and am glad I didn't send them back without giving them a chance.
Numerous reports say that wearing prescription hearing aid can prevent dementia. Doctor: Do you think these OTC hearing aids (including the Airpod Pro 2) are also able to prevent dementia?
Absolutely not! Hearing aids won't prevent dementia at all... However, if you have dementia or are at risk, the worst thing you can do is NOT wear hearing aids when you need them. There definitely is a correlation between cognitive issues and hearing loss.
forget it I got one $ 299 , there was a warning lithium ion battery , danger I maled it back immediately they did not want to give my money back , now they offering it for$50
You lost me at the explanation of the "Occlusion Effect." I plugged my ears, spoke a bit, and said F#ck No! Guess it's back to researching the expensive aids.
Well you gotta remember, there are different levels of the occlusion effect. It’s not going to sound exactly like that. It yes, generally, the occlusion effect sucks man
The reason for the market for OTC hearing aids and glasses is because we live in a country where healthcare is run by insurance companies that have successfully sold the notion that eyes, ears, and mouths are not parts of the human body that require health care.
My mother and her brother both had great health insurance. Yeah, right. They paid thousand$. More than $5Gs. And never got used to them enough to even use them. More than 10grand for nothing. Our (health care(?) system has been broken for decades. God Ble$$ America
Atom 2 just swauks and squeaks to the point of pain. There doesn’t seem to be any fix. I can’t understand why folks like them. The plain old Atom with the screw and on off have a very short battery life but don’t burn you ears out of your head!
it depends on a couple of things. 1... the shape of your ear canal. Everyone has different shaped ear canals, some folks can get a nice acoustical seal with the hearing aid resulting in minimal feedback. Some folks, again, depending on the shape of their canal just can't get a good seal resulting in more feedback. 2... the volume of the hearing aids or volume requirements of the wearer has an impact as well. Folks that need more volume will have more risk of feedback as the volume increases. Folks that have a more irregular shaped ear canal and more severe loss, needing more volume are the most prone to getting feedback. Hope this helps!
I wouldn't say they are junk, they are nowhere near the quality of a prescription hearing aids. You might consider them junk if you were expecting a prescription quality hearing aid.
You know the nice thing about buying hearing aids? If you don't like them, or they don't work for you or aren't what you expected, you can return them. Pretty cool huh
Your research, testing, and presentation are a great service to us, your listeners! Thank you for the shout-out ❤

How do the Atom pro 2 work if one has a mild to moderate high frequency hearing loss?
You would just turn that side up more. That's pretty much all you can do.
great video thank you
Glad it was helpful!
I ordered them. I could not get the wishing to stop.
That’s too bad
Is this okay for a 7yr old kid?
High frequency would be great. I have none left.
Oof
Phonak hearing aids review
Huh?
forget it I got one $ 299 , there was a warning lithium ion battery , danger I maled it back immediately they did not want to give my money back , now they offering it for$50
You lost me at the explanation of the "Occlusion Effect." I plugged my ears, spoke a bit, and said F#ck No!
It is absurd and I couldn’t agree with you more.
Those scissors! on a medical device? and the bug, use a coin.
It’s just a video, I’m not using it with a real patient
They're junk
I wouldn't say they are junk, they are nowhere near the quality of a prescription hearing aids. You might consider them junk if you were expecting a prescription quality hearing aid.
it has a scrap loader, do not buy it
What's a scrap loader
You know the nice thing about buying hearing aids? If you don't like them, or they don't work for you or aren't what you expected, you can return them. Pretty cool huh
