I love choppers too I got this knife in 2017 I used it for 1 camping trip 1 fire to spit and chop 4-6 inch piece's of wood and it chipped out on serval places on the blade I only paid 60 for it so I wasn't to upset and it is still functional

My son got one after I oiled the sheath and the scales and sharpened it. Sharp out of the box like you said then I touched up the edge. Good and sharp. I like mine as well. Thanks for the tip.

I guess I need to teach you how to use a Ferro rod Brian. Hold the blade still at a slight angle and draw the rod against the blade. There are several ways to do that but the blade must be held still. Practice makes perfect. That is an amazing blade.

I bought all the Ka-bar zombie knives, starting with the early SK5 Taiwan models (including the extremely elusive but unremarkable Chop Stick), all the USA made re-releases and newer models, plus the Johnson Adventures branded blades that shared the same removable handles. I really like these blades, they were consistently innovative big blades designs that didn't break the bank. I know the zombie fad has died down a bit but I would love it if Ka-bar came up with new designs in the same line.

I'd like to make a suggestion as to what to put in the pouch based on how I retrofitted my Jakarripukko Scrama, 1 ferro rod + 1 lighter of your choice an Altoids size tin packed with 511 fire plugs (or similar) and a pocket bellows almost guaranteed fire starting kit 😇
I like ka-bar. They had a sale going and I saw that big chopper, it was priced well, but I ended up with the bk16 and micarta, total under 105. Does chopping with it pound your arms
This is for chopping brush and weeds why are using it on a log? I don't get it some times this clearly is not an axe and it was made for a different purpose.
Fun knife to play with for sure. My only thought being that with the way it sticks into the wood it would probably stick into a zombie skull the same way. Which makes it impractical as a zombie killer because you'd have to spend most of your time smacking on it to get it out of their head. But there's no way to know until you do some testing on actual zombies, so you're going to need to do a follow up. Looking forward to it!
You probably wouldn’t want to throw it at them anyway cause if there’s a group of zombies you would want to use it to hack at the zombies and it would be great for that.
Brain, I feel like you should have tested this knife in the kitchen or something. Do some cooking with it. This is definitely not a woods knife it’s a cleaver.

It is made to slay zombies, that’s why it has a biohazard on the sheath and why it’s called “zomstro”. I think you’re going to have a lot of fun with this knife in the kitchen.

I wouldn’t say the rod failed as much as the knife failed at scraping the rod.
