I got an Old Timer/Schrade as my first ever knife, a good old Sharpfinger for rabbit and fox hunting to go with my Winchester .22. Forty years later, I still have that knife. Not sure if Schrade and Old Timer are still associated, but that Sharpfinger, my Deerslayer, and Stockman got a lot of work on our farm.
I waited for it but it wasn't on the list. I can understand why, it's not everyone's cup of tea. But to me the best Schrade design ever produced by Taylor Brands was the SCHF13sm. I have about ten of them spread out all over my house and garage and there is never a time when there isn't one in my pocket. I bought several more for my wife, she loves them too. Yes, it's a tiny little bit of a knife, not a "bushcraft" knife. But that's what its big brother is for, the SCHF13. The 13sm is, to me, the perfect fixed blade pocket knife. Obviously. My favorite "EDC" for out of the house is by far and hands down the SCHF16. I have four of them in various bags and two that I keep in regular rotation so I can keep them sharp. Not saying this isn't a good list, these are all very good knives and I've owned most of them. I passed on the "big honkin" knives, Leroy and Jethro, I just don't have any use for them, but the rest I think I have all but the folder. Good video, I do like the format. Makes for a nice change though I do kind of miss the ol' stump top, the never ending fat wood supply, and the B.O.A.R.D. Edited to add Kuma, miss the lap dog too.
If you can find a USA made one, what a difference. I love the sharp finger. When I went to replace one years back is when I realized the difference between the 2 The sharp finger of old was top knotch.
The Sharpfinger is such a great design. In the ‘80s and ’90s my dad always carried one working on the farm, along with a Buck 110 folder most of the time
Thanks for another great video. I bought a SCHF 52 because of your review and I have really enjoyed it. I still use it for the backyard fire pit. If I go camping again it will definitely come with me.
Hi Brian .. Great collection of Schrade knives!! . For a camp situation I especially liked the "Schf42" for more subtle work and the impressive "Schf45" for macheting and batoning , plus I love that Schrade comes with them in sturdy Kydex sheaths . Regards from Barcelona Brian!! 🪵🔪👍👍
Another quality video! Great topic. Some people have a bias against Schrade, as is their right, but I think Schrade markets good products at great prices. They have so many patterns you can find a knife that excels at any task you may need a knife for. Thanks Brian!
Brian... here are my favorite Schrade knives that I own. ALL of my Schrade knives were made while the company was under the Taylor Brands... SCHF56L (a good size belt knife... (the TPE handle is a bit thin for me, but fits my wife's hands just perfectly). SCHF42D (a very good belt knife... my FAVORITE Schrade. Leather sheath and after market G10 handles). I always carry this knife. SCHF 43 (Chris Tanner version with the Saber Grind). I have not used this blade... brand new... will stay that way. (I have other choppers). Thanks for the video! Your friend, AL.
When I was fresh out of Survival School (2017) I got really into your channel. And I got to the point where I was only looking at Schrade knives to outfit with - BECAUSE you showed so many of them. I love the consistency of your knife reviews and I have purchased quite a few knives you e reviewed since. You’ve got a great personality for what you’re doing - and I have never been disappointed. If I am looking to purchase a knife - I check first with your channel to see if you’ve reviewed it before I buy! I’ve got the SCHF36 SCHF38 SCHF3N And that same stag handled Bowie knife! I’ve got plenty more besides - but I always like to check with your channel first! Thank you Brian! Appreciate you brother.
Hello from Oklahoma! Good Video! Interesting story about how You got involved with Schrade. My Favorite is the SCHF3N! I've used and abused this knife and it keeps coming back for more. It Is a "Beast"! Wink! Wink! And by the way, the sheath is still holding up fine. My EDC is a SCH217L.
My favorite is the SCHF66, a little three inch fixed blade with a cheap nylon sheath. It's that rather soft Chinese 7Cro17MoV steel but it takes a pretty damn sharp edge. I have to touch it up fairly often more just to keep it sharp than to resharpen, but it is probably my most used knife because it's so darn handy. It has taken up residence on the kitchen desk for the last three years and I use it for most household cutting tasks even though I almost always have a pocket knife in my pocket.
It was never really one of my favorite designs but it did get an Honorable Mention in this video: 12 of My Favorite Big Knives (with Rambling) th-cam.com/video/C9zY399qC68/w-d-xo.html
I bought a Schrade I-beam a couple of years ago for a back up defense knife. It has ASU-8 steel and G-10 grip. Very comfortable to hold and has some jimping on the back of the blade for detailed work. They could have done better with the sheath, but in all, a very fine knife.
I've been looking through my rather large collection of blades recently and for some reason I don't seem to own many Schrade knives. I do own some but I own more Morakniv than anything. Cold Steel is most likely second. The rest are all over the place.

I think that would be a great knife for you to test out.
Schrade Delta Class Extreme Survival Slim Fixed Blade Knife 4" 4116 Black Dagger Blade 1182511 is the new vision of the last knife shown. it is advertised as AUS-10 but in truth and is right on the package itself it states it is 4116 steel.
I always wondered if one of their designers was a fan of the show NCIS there's the Leroy and the Jethro I was expecting them to bring out some kind of 'tacticool' folder maybe with a camo blade and call it the Gibbs
The hinge on the Manila folder is on the "Manila" side. supposedly the ones made in Manila were on the "other side" if you're not careful or don't remember... you can cut yourself easily holding the wrong handle.
Ah I really liked the brush sword but it did not hold up long enough . Got a huge chip in it maybe a month or two in. Left a bad taste in my mouth as it chipped on wood contact (not like accidentally hitting metal)
They are not really teeth and not sharp at all but I am not surprised they would be illegal in the UK since they are jailing people for social media posts.
I have been waiting. For years, for you to tell how you like that real stag handle bowie. You gave it all but 11 seconds. I want that knife but my concerns are grip strength and how the knife holds up. Nobody talks enough about this knife on TH-cam. And I am fearful on blowing 120 dollars. I feel like that knife is going to slip out of my hands from chopping. Do you get a good purchase on this knife? Does it hold up from aggressive use over time? I am a big Uncle Henry fan. Both USA and China.
I absolutely love mine.. Its a work of art.. I ordered it immediately after watching Brians review on it.. The handle is a little slippy if you use it as a chopper BUT its not designed to be a chopper..

They are all owned by Smith & Wesson’s outdoor division now.
I'm watching this while carrying my SCHF16. It's my favorite Schrade.
A stroll down memory lane. It took me years to get an schf55 knife, but it was worth the wait. Enjoyed the video!

Schrade Saturday! Imperial, Uncle Henry, and Old Timer are the Schrade knives I have.
My favorite schrade sch55 amazing knife.
Excellent video !!! I like my scrade/oldtimer " skinner ".
Thanks for another great video. I bought a SCHF 52 because of your review and I have really enjoyed it. I still use it for the backyard fire pit. If I go camping again it will definitely come with me.
I have a Schrade schf38, big piece of steel and I love it.

Yes it is. It almost made the video but I needed to keep it under 30 minutes ;-)
I used my Schrade today!!

I have many many many Schrade knives and my favorites are the Schf37m and little Ricky. But they all do really well
Enjoyed the knives!
I honestly thought the original SCHF43 would be on the list. To this day it is still my most used Schrade by far.
It was never really one of my favorite designs but it did get an Honorable Mention in this video: 12 of My Favorite Big Knives (with Rambling)

Sweet collection bud. You folks have a wonderful Monday my friend.
Same to you
I have the SCHF1 unused. I like the design.

I still use a 42D. Wish I had bought the micarta scales when they were available.
Awesome!!!!
Thank you Brian!
Glad you liked it!
Very excellent video. My favorite Schrade is the schf57
Got a fair amount of therse based on you reviews❗
I've been looking through my rather large collection of blades recently and for some reason I don't seem to own many Schrade knives. I do own some but I own more Morakniv than anything. Cold Steel is most likely second. The rest are all over the place.
Moras are good
I am on my second Jethro. Best chopper I've ever used.
Good choice!
Schrade has many inexpensive knives with AUS-10 steel which is a very good stainless steel.
Good vidio Brian

My favorite schf9 and schf45
I'm with you on the Manila Folder, fun to swing around, but prefer other people being doing it.
Yep
I've beat the dirt outta that schrade 52. Used to be my pack knife. now i carry a cs bushman.
Only schrades that ever caught my interest were the sharpfinger and deerslayer
I always wondered if one of their designers was a fan of the show NCIS there's the Leroy and the Jethro I was expecting them to bring out some kind of 'tacticool' folder maybe with a camo blade and call it the Gibbs
As always a great video and review my friend.
I have many Schrade knives and they are of excellent quality and workmanship.
i remember the first video of yours i watched was a review of the SCHF42
Thanks for sticking around.
I get the SCHF36, I was hoping was on the video
That one almost made it but I had to draw a line somewhere.
The hinge on the Manila folder is on the "Manila" side. supposedly the ones made in Manila were on the "other side" if you're not careful or don't remember... you can cut yourself easily holding the wrong handle.
Thanks for the clarification
Have a Griffin SCHF9 and a SCHF10 that I like.
Cool

What about your 5 best Whiskey or Whisky Bryan? Or beer. The world is full of best 5:)
I haven’t really drank alcohol in many years, so I’m not the best one for that.
Schrade is my favorite knife maker believe it or not.
Cheers
That first one is illegal in the uk as it has teeth on the back! Well will be in 3 weeks!
They are not really teeth and not sharp at all but I am not surprised they would be illegal in the UK since they are jailing people for social media posts.
Yes, the driver sets that came with mine, makes me scratch my head. I think they quit because of chris reeves was upset they cloned him for $100
Could be
I carry the schrade schf30 and going on 5 years since first got it. Not available anymore.

These are Taylor knives not Schrade, Uncle Henry or Old Timer. Where is Sharp Finger ?
I still have my jethro and it is still bad to the bone.
Ive got 3 Schrade's.. I was glad to see one of them here..
The Uncle Henry stag bowie..(crocodile dundee knife without the cringe factor lol)
It’s a cool knife.
Heheh brian griffin
