      Not really, but it is usually caused by excessive sun exposure, smoking, hormonal changes, or even a reaction to certain lip products. This is where I would start looking first. :) However, I would recommend something like laser treatment, as I think that will be the most effective method. But for that, you need to consult a doctor.

    That's the first cream my dermatologist suggested. At the time, it didn't use to contain niacinamide. However, I now prefer Cerave to Cetaphil because I find it less greasy. 👌

    Thank you, Melissa❤ I have a question for you. You've recommended mandelic acid for my dry, sensitive skin. Is it okay to use it if I use Tretinoin at night. If yes, what concentration would you recommend? Is 30% to strong for the beginning? Of course I wouldn't use on the same night, am I right?

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well, if you use a 30% concentration, it could still be very intense, so in that case, I would advise caution. Even though Mandelic Acid is gentle, you should use such a high concentration as a masque, rinsing it off after 10-15 minutes.
      I was referring to the 10-15% concentration found in leave-on serums.
      But yes, you would use it on days when you're not using tretinoin. If I remember correctly, you use tretinoin only once a week. Therefore, with a 30% peel, you might be able to use it a couple of times per week. However, it's crucial to test this, as it all depends on your personal skin tolerance.

    hi Melissa! I started my journey a year ago when I started to see your videos.No after a year I find that after using my ordinary range Hya.Serum, Niacinamide, Vit C (in the morning only) garanactivee retinoid 2% (only at night every other day ) My skin doesn't feel luscious and hydrated as it felt 1 year ago when I started. Do you know why? DO I need to change anything?

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! 😊
      Hmm... it could be that your skin type has changed due to age or the environment, or that the products do not match what your skin really needs. You can consider products with similar main ingredients like Vitamin C or Retinol, but you may also want to explore different formulations.

      Yes, I'm not sure why some ingredients differ, but it's either a marketing strategy or because some ingredients are more regulated or sourced from areas where they are not allowed, etc.
      So, there is no 'best' option unless you definitely know what it's about. 😉 Or, if you can identify certain ingredients you don't tolerate well, then avoid them. To check, you can simply look them up on incidecoder.com/

    Hey! I haven’t watched your videos since I started skincare because you really helped me. And your skin is really clear now WOW 👏🏽 I have some problems and I need some help or advice.
    I started to use la roche posay toleriane caring wash (it’s said to be the EU version of the hydrating US one) and cerave moisturizing cream. When applying the cream on damp skin (after drying my face with a towel) it looks very weird like white stuff. What I also noticed, is that it feels slightly sticky afterwards. I don’t know if it’s the cleanser or the cream because I’ve heard, hydrating cleansers for dry skin can leave residues.
    It looks like my skin doesn’t absorb the cream and my skin also has some stripes/multiple thin fine lines on the cheeks and nose. I can see it especially on close up and when I smile, just if my skin is dry and has no hydration. Even tho it’s slightly sticky which doesn’t make any sense 😢 The problem shouldn’t be the cleanser, it’s for sensitive and dry skin right? Or is it not effective for my skin type because it doesn’t clean enough? That’s maybe why the moisturizing cream stays on top of the skin instead of getting absorbed? Should I switch from cream to their lotion and try the cetaphil hydrating foaming cream cleanser?
    My skin type is combination on the dryer side but oily on nose. And it would be very interesting if you could test the caring wash and what your thoughts are since you’re also from europe.

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I also think the issue might be cleanser residue, leading to skincare pilling where the cleanser or cream balls off when applied.
      How do you apply the cleanser and how do you remove it? For a better understanding, I have a video here: [th-cam.com/video/QrUdQyFxWsY/w-d-xo.html]. It demonstrates how I use it at the sink. Of course, in the shower, you just rinse it off well with warm water.
      The cleanser is generally good for very dry, sensitive skin, typical of creamy formulas. However, I suggest trying the Cetaphil Hydrating Foaming Cream Cleanser (available on Amazon) or the Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Cleanser, which you can find on YesStyle. It seems the cleanser might be the problem.
      Additionally, the cream might be too rich for you. If you avoid the oilier parts, it could still work, but formulations like CeraVe Ultra Light Moisturizing Gel, The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan, or Beauty of Joseon Red Bean Water Gel might be more suitable for you.

      @@Somm1 The Cetaphil lotion won't help you with your acne, and it doesn't make any sense to keep using it if it doesn't feel comfortable, so stop using it. You could consider using a Salicylic Acid or Benzoyl Peroxide cleanser for your acne, and you may even want to alternate between such a treatment cleanser and a regular foaming cleanser. Still, where do you get acne? Since when have you had acne, and how much acne do you get?

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Somm1 Yes, as it's just a regular cleanser. As mentioned you would need to look into Salicylic Acid, Benzoyl Peroxide, Retinol/Retinoid, or Azelaic Acid, it should help reduce acne. However, you need to figure out the root cause of your acne to treat it more effectively, which likely comes from your lifestyle, such as stress or your diet. Therefore, you would need to work on these habits as well, as they can cause inflammation in the body, which can lead to acne.

      Hey! :)
      I understand/can read Dutch, but I can't speak it - I'm from Luxembourg :)
      I recommend either using The Ordinary Ethylated Ascorbic Acid or Vitamin C Suspension - both are Vitamin C products, but you just need one of them so check which one you tolerate and like the most.
      You could try this routine:
      AM:
      - Cleanser
      - Hyaluronic Acid
      - Matrixyl
      - (Optional) Moisturizer
      - Sunscreen (if you spend time outdoors - mainly during the summer)
      PM 1:
      - Cleanser
      - Hyaluronic Acid
      - Granactive Reitnoid
      - (Optional) Moisturizer
      PM 2:
      - Cleanser
      - Hyaluronic Acid
      - Ethylated Ascorbic Acid or Vitamin C Suspension
      - (Optional) Moisturizer
      Alternate between PM 1 and PM 2 in your evening routine.
